Had the appetizer for the table of Chengzi Oysters on a seaweed salad base with fresh mandarins orange segments. Beautifully balanced! Folks at the table had the Fresh Market catch of Cobia with a crabmeat crust, and the Shrimp and Grits -Yum! It's been years since I visited the Corner Kitchen. So many people love it I thought I'd give it another go. I love the ambience of the place. Service was also top notch. But all of that doesn't mean much if the food isn't also great. Maybe if I was t a vegetarian, I'd like it more. There are plenty of options for carnivores, after all, but slim pickings for plant eaters I was there for lunch (or brunch, as they called it, even though it was after 1 pm) and the only sandwich that was Vegetarian was the portobello. The waiter told us about the dishes of the day, one if which was a eggs Benedict with salmon. I will eat salmon so I ordered that. The dish was acceptable. The potatoes on the side were good, the hollandaise sauce was good, but the salmon, which should have been the star of the show, was dry and without flavor. One more bright note was the white sangria. It was delicious. Overall, this visit reminded me why I don't visit them more often. read more

When pre-planning our trip we had narrowed down a few restaurants that were near the Biltmore estate that we wanted to try. Corner kitchen came highly recommended through Yelp, and after reading several other reviews, as well as looking at their website, we decided they would be our dinner option for after our day on the estate grounds. This location is located in the quaint Biltmore village, which is right outside of the Biltmore estates. Parking can be tight, but there is free parking typically after 6 PM and on the weekends. We made the reservation for 8 PM, but arrived a little bit early and were able to be seated right away. The corner kitchen is a quaint restaurant that utilizes the entirety of the house that the chief engineer for the Biltmore estates parents used to live in. The history is intriguing and you can see it throughout the location. Their menu changes, seasonally, and even seasonally, there are some things that may run out or change. My husband got the steak culotte, medium. The steak was cooked perfectly and while there was not a lot of seasoning, the meat was able to speak for itself in flavor. Beautifully, tender and delicious cut of steak. The lemon potatoes were also very great and did not have that over lemony flavor to it. I opted for the spring salad With chicken added. There is an up charge to add the chicken, but I wanted something light after being out in the heat all day long. It was delicious and the chicken is by far some of the best season chicken I have ever had in a meal. I also opted for the Vanderbilt martini, which is a beautiful mix of cucumber vodka, and elderflower. Initially, I was looking for an omelette, and was surprised when I did not see one on the menu. But, I trusted the process and was pleasantly surprised. I don't give 5 stars out easily so trust me when I say this spot deserves all 5 stars for food, service and ambiance! I love that they have a seasonal menu that is created with their farm to table motto. From the Spring 2023 menu I got the half roasted springer mountain chicken with goat cheese polenta. Priced at $34 this is definitely a higher end establishment but you get a large portion for the price! The chicken was cooked to perfection but really what makes the dish is the goat cheese polenta. It's sooo creamy and I'm a sucker for anything with goat cheese! We had great service with our party of 7! We made reservations and didn't have to wait at all, which is amazing on a Saturday night! I would also like to mention the restaurant is situated in an old home and is so beautiful. This place *WAS* going to be the best place I ate at while visiting, however my entree was a 1 Star experience. I visited the last day in March of 2024 and their menu has already changed so a lot of my comments won't be entirely relevant. I'll sum it up as: 5 star service 5 star drinks 5 star appetizers 5 star soup 5 star pasta 1 star fish entree It actually ruined my whole night when my fish came out. Everything until that point had been so enjoyable and fresh! It was astonishing because everything but my fish had an intense attention to detail. The fish was dry and the rice was drier. There was a pineapple salsa on top but it wasn't enough to save it. The last thing was the snap peas had not been strung. I'm not sure if thats customary here, but after they were cooked it made them very hard and inedible. I was going to get the eggs Benedict special but they were out. I got the traditional eggs, bacon, toast and cheddar grits. I also got the cauliflower bisque soup which was the special- amazing!! The grits and bacon were delicious. My husband got the biscuits and gravy and loved it. The mimosas looked good- lots of champagne. Parking is a bit difficult but so worth it. The restaurant has an out door space and an upstairs- feels like you are eating inside an old house. Really cool. One of my favorite Asheville restaurants- my first time here for brunch. We went to corner kitchen for restaurant week. I'm usually a fan but this meal was a bit strange. I asked for the server's suggestion between the meatloaf and the chicken. I was steered to the chicken. I wish I had been told that it was a pretty large order. It was far too much for and it didn't really have flavor. My boyfriend's trout was rather bland as well. We received our bill and it said one price but when we received the check after payment the bill was even higher. This was not my favorite visit . I still like the place though. Thanks to a large table cancellation we were able to get dinner here. A place is cute with nice music and services exceptional. My husband did order his meal with low salt and unfortunately, after an hour of waiting for his meal, he was told accidentally salted his trout so we waited about an hour and 15 minutes. One of the best brunch places I have ever dined at! From the starter salad to our individual dishes, everything was packed with flavor without being overwhelming. I have never had grits that were so creamy and my partner said this was one of the best chicken and waffles he's ever had. We absolutely LOVED corner kitchen. Corner kitchen is one of the few restaurants I've seen that lets you reserve their patio. We were traveling through Asheville with our dog and eight month old and were able to reserve patio seating. It's a very cute patio with a fountain. The service was impeccable. We mentioned to our server that we have a time crunch with our baby and food was out and ready within that time crunch. We started with the seared tuna which had a perfectly even delicious crust all the way around. We also got some fried green tomatoes with an excellent pimento cheese. For entrees we split the summer scallops and the shrimp and grits. The scallops were buttery deliciousness with no grit which I find is a rarity in restaurants these days, even though it shouldn't be. The accompanying risotto was made with corn and was just a beautiful accompaniment. The shrimp and grits were creamy and flavorful, and had real occasion flare to them. Our kiddo enjoyed a grilled cheese and green beans and she loved it! Drinks were also fantastic, I really recommend this place for dogs as well as kids with their separate kids menu, crayons, high chairs, and beautiful outdoor patio. Eh a mixed bag. Maybe it was a bad night considering all the good reviews of this spot. In fairness we were a tough table with lots of dietary restriction among the group and a couple kids to boot. Service was friendly and accommodating but slow. They kept my water full but food was slow out of the kitchen. I suspect the kitchen was short staffed and the front of house was doing their best. My kids got progressively more bored with the wait but the staff put up with them well. The tomato pie app was a highlight as was the solid kids salad with chicken with an apple vinaigrette. But you don't go to a restaurant for the kids salad. They serve an interesting vegan gumbo full of regional veg. In general the menu has solid southern influenced offerings. My crab cake looked lovely but unfortunately fishy. I didn't think the orange wedges that were served along side particularly worked. My seafood boil was very disappointing. It had obviously been sitting under the heat lamp as the crab was dried out. So maybe I'll give it a try again sometime but it isn't somewhere I would make a destination. read more

We are visiting from out of town Asheville and we googled this place and decided to give it a try based on its location. We arrived at 10 am and my sister in law went in first and asked for a table for 8. She was told by the rude hostess that she couldn't arrange a table that size. My sil came outside and told me to ask for a table for 4 for my family only because she felt the hostess didn't want to give her a table. I went in, noticed varios empty tables and asked her for a table for 4. She said that the next available was at 1:45! Remember this is at 10am. I said ok fine put my name in the list, she then tells me that the only table available at 1:45 is at the cold patio! While we were leaving I saw another family coming in, adking for a table and getting sat immediately. It was obvious that she didn't want to give us a table. We stumbled across this restaurant while driving around Biltmore Village looking for a place to eat breakfast before our visit to the Biltmore Estate. Wow! Our food was excellent. I had the daily Egg's Benedict and it was the most flavorful and delicious one I have ever eaten. My husband commented that the cheddar grits were the best he had ever eaten. The service was excellent. We were seated immediately and the entire staff seemed to work with expert efficiency. There is a sign that shows the high water mark from the flood. Sitting on a corner in Historic Biltmore Village this restaurant is located in a cute little house that has been converted into a restaurant. It is set in the middle of lots of trees. The weather was so nice and we wished we had asked to sit outside. We sat in the room with a bar. It had big picture windows so it felt like the outside came inside. Nice ambiance. They fill up fast so reservations are recommended. Our server was Scott P. He was wonderful. Very friendly and knowledgeable and answered all my questions. I ordered the Bagel and "Lox" Sammie. The Pickled green tomatoes and the Lusty Monk-Caper Aioli sauce set this sammie in a league of it's own. The crispy thin fries with rosemary and Parmesan were so good you didn't need a dipping sauce. The homemade pickle was yummy. The hubby chose the Chef's Daily Lunch Special. I hope I get this right. It was Shakshuka, a West African dish. Two poached eggs in tomato sauce, herbs and spices served over their house stone ground grits with goat cheese as well as fried artichokes and locally grown cilantro. He gave it two thumbs up. We decided to share the homemade CK Ginger Ale. Excellent choice. The first sip is quite stout. You must like ginger in order to enjoy this drink because the ginger is very strong. We do and we really liked it. The hubby and I were celebrating our 41st wedding anniversary so we were given a complementary dessert. We chose the Dark Chocolate Mousse. It was served in a little jar. Each bite was different... either salted caramel coffee foam or chocolate crunchies. YUM! Our bill was $42.80 before tip and it was worth every penny! The hubby thought it was so good that he filled out the comment card at the end of our meal. This was our favorite find on this Asheville visit!! Everything we ate was delicious.
