Banana split w/ blackberry sweet corn flavor, pecans, maple walnuts, choc syrup, vegan whip, and a cherry
Luca D.

Service and ambiance, as usual, worked out well. I got a banana split with blackberry sweet corn ice cream, chocolate syrup, pecans, maple walnuts, vegan whip, and a cherry. The whole thing was delicious with flavors that worked well together. Even the ice cream itself tasted better than expected.

Blueberry and dairy free cinnamon

The server was friendly and helpful explaining about the ice cream. They make it all in-house :) There wasn't a large selection of flavors, but I assume this was because it was not tourist season when I visited. Despite not having a ton of flavors, there were still dairy free, sugar free as well as vegan options. I opted for the blueberry and cinnamon. The blueberry had nice whole blueberries in it and the cinnamon had a good cinnamon spice, not hot cinnamon, flavor. There wasn't much seating inside and it was nice out, so I took my ice cream to go and ate it on a nearby bench.

Excellent ice cream and waffle cones. My wife had butter pecan and I had chocolate. Great choices. We both enjoyed them very much. The waffle cones were very fresh and crunchy. To me they reminded me of homemade oatmeal cookies.

Chocolate oat milk ice cream. My wildest dream has come true. And they started serving bubble tea as well. Goodbye for now Hop! I wish I lived next door.

I scream, you scream, we all love ice cream! This was a great experience to try out some new flavors! It's extremely kid friendly but I saw about 90% of adults enjoy themselves some good ice cream, lol! If I'm ever in the Asheville area, I'll be back.

One of our favorite spots for ice cream and milkshakes. My favorite is the Oreo milkshake, and my friend orders the mint with gummy bears on top. High quality always.

Awesome ice cream place with dairy and vegan options. Also have gluten free cone options. All of the ice cream is gluten free unless otherwise stated on the menu. The flavors change which is really neat. We vacationed in Asheville for a week and got to see menu changes. They make their own ice cream and specify the type of milk or "mylk" used. The first time we went I ordered the vegan banana creme crunch sundae with pecans, vegan chocolate sauce and vegan whip cream. The hubby ordered vegan almond crunch and chocolate scoops on gluten free cone. Second time we went I ordered the vegan chocolate banana creme in a cone and hubby got the vegan apple cinnamon in a cone. So good!

Honey Mint Rose Lavender Ice Cream

Always interesting flavors! This is a Honey Mint Rose and Lavender variety, and it was DIVINE! I wish their cones were more meaty? Toothsome? Flavorful? (Like, don't shoot me, Baskin Robbins.) Never disappoints

Nice quality ice-cream is something I always seek out in any city I'm a visitor. So on my last visit to Asheville The Hop was put on my list in early Summer of 2019. Parking is limited up front, especially during peak times. The lot and walk up tidy. Be cautious of steep stairs. The store is good size and on a weekday afternoon visit had traffic. The staff was great and said hello upon walking in. The cases display the flavors and there was two staff assisting customers. My wife and I got sampled their butter pecan ice-cream, it was delicious. Cold, creamy and plenty of pecans. Ultimately we shared a brownie sundae with peanut butter ice-cream which was fantastic. I later decided to get a blueberry shake for the road that was tasty. The eating area is spacious with tables, booths, and chairs. Even large couches. Also there is a kids area to enjoy themselves after getting a treat. Restrooms were not used but in rear. I would love to stop back in on my next visit.

Cute local chain with fun flavors with many options that are locally sourced when able!

This is the best ice cream in Asheville by far. They offer a wide range of flavors. They even have dairy free and vegan options available.

Staff so very sweet and helpful. They had a wall of team member's fur babies around a sign about an April 7th fundraiser for Asheville Humane Society. Pooped in for my daily matcha latte and decaf latte. Enjoyed the matcha. I prefer nothing but matcha and milk in mine. If you want any syrups put in you'll have to ask. Decaf latte texturally was great the bean flavor wasn't my vibe. On the day, we were leaving town we wanted to get a box of goodies for our sweet family members who had taken care of one of our pups so that we could get away for the weekend. The team was so marvelous in helping us put together this bountiful box of goodies. Which our family members immediately opened and enjoyed nibbles of all of the different flavors and items. We originally found them when one of our family members was having health challenges and could not have dairy or gluten. They have such a wonderfully inclusive assortment of treats for everyone in the family. Including vegan. Enjoyed people watching sitting on the patio and the dog scene is awesome. Really lovely chill atmosphere with delightful team. They do have restrooms for customers. You're able to tap and pay in addition to cash and traditional credit card purchase. Always a delight to visit.

Well, their Taro Shaved Ice was PERFECT!!! The shaved ice was nice and dry, and the toppings (Boba, Lychee jelly, and Strawberries...even whipped cream on top) were generous and delicious! It's spacious but still manages to feel cozy and charming at the same time. The vibe is adorable and a little hard to pin down. It feels like a mix between English tea time elegance and a bit of Spanish flair. It's unique and really something you just have to experience in person. I ordered the fancy carrot cake and it was exactly what a classic carrot cake should be. The flavor profile was spot on. Not overly sweet, not bland, just perfectly balanced with that warm spiced carrot cake taste. Paired with a cortado, it made the perfect little caffeine and sweet tooth moment. A great stop if you're wandering around Asheville and want a cozy place to sit with coffee and dessert.

Super cute that they serve out of a double decker bus. There are about 4 tables you can sit at outside of the bus. No seating inside. Menu has some pretty interesting concoctions, so I was intrigued. Only downside to this place, which is why I knocked a star off. Atm inside the Aloft charged $4.25 for the atm just FYI. I got a hot creme brulee latte and my husband got a blackberry latte. After you order at the window, they call your name on a speaker and you pick it up inside the bus. My drink was really tasty and smooth. My husband enjoyed his as well and said the blackberry was really strong and pronounced in a good way. I would definitely frequent this place again if I had cash on me. If I didn't, there's so many other coffee places in Asheville that I would probably try somewhere else next time.

YUMMMMMMM. So good…read more My friend is an ice cream cookie monster and has it several times a day when we travel bc that's her favorite thing when she travels is to try all the ice cream in town. I'm happy to oblige, lol. So, after an hour in the Asheville Salt Cave, we walked over here to try this ice cream. Two staff inside working, it was incredibly hot inside, were happy to answer questions and greeted us warmly. They had a nice selection of flavors on the wall and a few specialty flavors. My friends went with a salted caramel vanilla and a peanut chocolate flavor. Both were OK but mine was the star of the show for me. I chose the Vanilla Oreo Cream which was this delicious creamy vanilla mixture with huge chunks of Oreo cookies. It was smooth, it was sweet, it was delicious. As a cookies and cream fan, this was top notch. They sell lactaid pills here if you need them, to assist with stomach discomfort from dairy. The address in Yelp brought us to a blue building clearly marked with the address we were looking for BUT it was a pharmacy. We persisted. She said they used to be "The ultimate ice cream" but they were bought about a year ago and the name was changed to The Mad Dipper." She tried hard to convince us they were the same but after having looked at the pictures prior to arriving I would disagree. We still ordered ice cream and it was good but nothing special. There were a few inside tables as well as outside. It appeared clean but disorganized. The young woman working was kind and polite. She did a good job. Would we go back- probably not. I am still trying to understand how/why the new owners have not taken the time to update their Yelp page. Really poor marketing!
