I was so excited to try this place... I had done my research and planned my travel schedule to get there on time to make my appointment that morning. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese biscuit, a donut, and some plain biscuits to take home with me. Very ho hum and disappointing on all three items. I didn't finish the donut and the plain biscuits were a bust- lacked fluffiness and tenderness. The bacon egg and cheese biscuit was the best thing I ordered and even I struggled to get through all the herbs in the egg. (It is not necessary to taste like like the front yard). We tried the grits bowl, French Toast Donuts, Biscuits and Gravy. The service was fine you order then they give you buzzer to go back and get the food. I wasn't a fan of the donut French toast it was almost like loaf very thick not fluffy. My husband did like it. Everything else was great chicken was fresh and juicy. The donuts are also fairly dense and similar to a Dunkin Donut. I'd suggest trying one of their more unique flavors instead of sticking with the classic glazed, sugar, or chocolate. Fun place in old Victorian-style house. Probably the best grits I ever had, tasted like they were boiled in bacon grease (but not greasy) and very buttery tasting. Maybe they added a little bacon at the end. Unique donuts, I had the Bacon Apple Bear Claw for dessert. I would have called it a Bacon Apple Fritter as the dough had a texture and flavor more akin to an Apple Fritter, but a rides by any other name.. Tomorrow I plan on trying the Créme Broulee and the Brown Butter Peach Cheesecake. Super friendly and (seemingly) happy counter staff. All in all just a genuinely pleasing experience. read more

We unexpectedly came to eat here, and while parking was a little difficult, I'm glad to have been able to stop by. The service wasn't really helpful to questions I had and were mostly indifferent to everything, and if there wasn't a time crunch, I would've perused reviews more for an idea of what to order. That being said, the chicken here did not disappoint! The sides... well, I should've ordered the fried brussels sprouts. Hashbrown tots sounded great, and they were, but there were only two of them. It wasn't what I was expecting when I think of tots either. I love gouda, so the mac was nice. I should've ordered an actual donut instead of the donut french toast! My review feels a bit incomplete to me without having tried a donut! The donut french toast was dense and dry. For an item under their favorites section, it wasn't very good. The chicken was well seasoned, well fried, and whether it's on a biscuit or in a sandwich, was topped, dressed, sauced in a way that hits the spot. The inside is kitschy and cute with little donuts and hens. There was Christmas decor as it was the day after Christmas and they still had their specials. The server was very kind in taking my order and my coffee was excellent! I love a peppermint mocha and I was glad to see it on the Christmas special menu! I ordered the Gingerbread and the Bourbon Eggnog. The Gingerbread was great! It tasted more similar to a Biscoff than Gingerbread but I loved it. The Bourbon Eggnog was alright. Cute shop with welcoming porch and fun, eclectic chicken-related decor. Huge pothole at the parking lot entrance - be prepared for a brief and unwelcome 4-wheeling experience. The moderate-sized menu is mainly donut and biscuit-centered. My egg and cheese biscuit wasn't bad; the egg portion was nicely prepared and generously supplied, while the biscuit was average at best. Although other cheese varieties would have been tastier, I don't have a big problem with American. The crème brûlée donut was gorgeous to behold; sadly, the charm ended there, with somewhat stingy filling, disappointing texture, and insipid, uninspired flavors within. Service wasn't great, eked out by a tragic Gen Z-er who would help me if she had to, but wasn't happy about it, and searched diligently for ways in which to make me feel somehow inadequate. Went here over the weekend for the first time. Staff was friendly and place had a great vibe. I ordered the breakfast platter and my husband got an egg sandwich, everything was delicious here and we'll definitely be back. Only thing I can make a suggestion on is to be careful when eating outside at the picnic tables. The tree roots are exposed and I fell backwards over one and bruised my backside and my ego trying to sit down at one of the benches. I know no one can help that the tree is there but a warning sign would be nice or the bench positioned differently maybe would help some. read more

What a wonderful place to enjoy breakfast or lunch. The husband and I both chose the Donut Breakfast sandwich which was huge and packed with sausage, bacon, egg and cheese on a toasted donut. This place was MOVIN people in out which speaks to how well known and loved this place is. The donuts were far too good, no other donut will ever compare. With so many great reviews, how could I not try this out while in the area visiting family? HenDough seems to be a local institution judging by both the reviews and the lines. Definitely a spot that stays hopping from open to close it would seem, especially on nice weather days. While we didn't partake in donuts, they certainly looked appealing through the glass display. Gonna have to have one next time, just to know, ya know? What I did have was a delicious hot honey chicken biscuit that I wouldn't hesitate to get again. It was a nice thich piece of well fried chicken with a light batter, thoroughly coated in honey, definitely needed many napkins and a handwash after. I had brussel sprouts with mine, to kind of balance things out. While they were pretty good, I wish they had a little more pop in their flavor, but the sauce helps. 8/31 On our way to the Apple Festival, I looked at what local spots were around. I thought the name was so cool because it's in Henderson and had to try it when I realized it was HenDough for chicken and doughnuts! I'm so glad we ended up stopping here. It was like 3 minutes from the festival and ended up being the only apple treats we got besides cider at the festival. We ended up getting like 3 doughnuts: Vintage Hendo, Carmel Apple Crumb and Apple Butter Crumb. They were good; our only complaint was that the Carmel apple & Apple Butter tasted almost exactly the same. Their cream cheese icing in light and none of it was overly sweet. Really enjoyed this spot! Me and some friends stopped here for breakfast before leaving town and everything was so good! The staff was very patient with us because we were a pretty big group. They have indoor and outdoor seating and we really enjoyed sitting outside. We didn't realize it at first but they have upstairs seating as well! Not happy at all! Ordered a chicken biscuit with egg.....all I got was an egg biscuit!! I called regarding this to Hen dough and was told too bad and that I hadn't been charged for the chicken. No apology, no offer of refund or to correct the order! I live in Asheville which is 15 miles away so no quick drive to return the mistake order! I cannot believe it has taken me this long to come here. We were immediately greeted by the kindest most welcoming staff. This is such a cool little place with lots of seating both indoors and outdoors with a convenient parking lot right on property so no street parking necessary. They even have an outdoor pickup window which is awesome if you want to bring your pup with you. I ordered the special chicken biscuit with cheese and apple butter. It came out super fast and piping hot. At first bite I was in love. The chicken was super crispy and the biscuit was to die for. All of the flavors together were heaven. As for the donuts my favorite was the glazed and the Black Forest. Super dense and tasty. The still had some available at 12 pm on a Saturday. I will most definitely be returning. Place was clean, food was awesome and the people there are exceptional! My daughter and I love to find wonderful donuts and food throughout the area. We make sure we go only once a month because it's a calorie and deliciousness feast!! Be prepared to stand in line, but it goes fairly fast. The donuts are absolutely beautiful and their taste is wonderful. The donuts are very large puffy and they have 3 to 5 different specialty donuts along with regular donuts. Now here's one of the negatives the girls that work the counter aren't particularly friendly, but they also aren't rude. They're just really busy and don't take a lot of time to chat with you or say hello. This issue does not take away from the excellence of the food and the donuts are incredible. The ambience is wonderful. You can sit inside if you want. It's a beautiful little café with tables along the side. My daughter and I prefer the outside, it's lovely outside with umbrellas, on the picnic tables. Most of the tables are in the shade or have an umbrella. There's also additional seating on the front porch, that is shaded . The garden is absolutely lovely. The menu is fantastic. It's very difficult to go there and just have the donuts those will WOW you. But the chicken in every shape form and fashion is also spectacular. read more

We went to HenDough one morning while we were in Hendersonville for a wedding and it was fabulous. You can tell the staff really cares about the product they serve and have smiles on their faces as they're serving patrons. The place is quaint, clean and cute. We walked there from our rental but there's parking on the side street. The coffee they serve is local and delicious. I had the grit bowl with fried chicken (which is not heavily battered - picture a light beer batter) and a sunny-side egg perfectly laid atop. My wife had scrambled eggs, fried chicken, biscuit and hash brown tots. The tots were more like light, fluffy hash brown bars. It was a first for us and I totally want to duplicate the tots at home. So good! Our son had a chicken biscuit and shared his classic & chocolate glazed donuts with us. Super fresh with a surprisingly light cake texture. Next time we visit Hendersonville, HenDough will definitely be on our to-go-to list. My wife did take a little piece of the restaurant with her back home; HenDough offers nice pottery mugs with their logo for a nominal fee. Was very excited to come to HenDough as a local but have been disappointed several times. While the idea of the place is charming it fails to meet many of the qualities I'd hope for in a place such as this. The parking situation is somehow worse and less planned out than the rest of hendersonville, and when it gets busy it fills up and gets chaotic easily, and the pot holes, dips and loose gravel don't make it any better. The singular bathroom door doesn't fit right and struggles to close/open properly and the bathroom has an awkward window looking out across the street with some cheap privacy film plastered on (still doesn't feel private). The food is decent but for the prices I'd wish they'd put a little more time and effort in preparing the dishes. read more
