Article on the new owners

This place is soooo good! Something to note if you read other reviews...new owners took over in 2022. I got a cheeseburger with bacon and a side of their bacon jelly and lemme tell ya, 10/10 would recommend. The bacon jelly was so dang good!!! Everything was super fresh and the staff is really nice. This restaurant has been here since the 60s and new owners bought it and it is really a must visit if you're in the area - plus its connected to an adorable local store (which I of course went in an got some local honey and berry syrup). Check out the article picture I posted to read the history of the place. They serve breakfast and lunch you won't want to miss.

Love this!

Food was outstanding, best patty melt I have had in awhile. Gives you that small town old dinner... service was on spot. Will come again!

Grill has been part of Saluda for many years. Had lunch there. We had the Ward's 50/50 Burger, nice flavor, not greasy comes with a side, lettuce, tomato & pickle slices. Hours- open until 3pm. Serves breakfast too. It is adjacent to the Thompson's grocery store. Worth checking out.

I loved the vibe and old world charm of the place. My kids both had regular cheeseburgers and I had a bacon cheeseburger with hot pimento. It was huge! My only complaint is that all 3 of our burgers were pretty pink and cool in the middle. I like my burgers to be DONE. It would have been nice to have been asked ahead of time how we'd like them cooked. The ranch seemed like it was made in house and had a lot of dill, it was different but tasty. Fries were incredibly greasy and not done enough for us either. Overall though, was a good experience even though the food wasn't cooked to our preference.

Diners like they should be!

I don't give many 5's, but this is great little diner and soda fountain. We had the CJ burger and it was excellent. (You can buy the ground hamburg used in the burger in the attached Mercantile.) Clean, efficient and ti's fun to watch the cook do his thing. Don't miss this one in downtown Saluda.

Yummy home cooked breakfast!

Food and service were both great! Loved the small town, homey feel of this open kitchen diner.

CJ burger was amazing. Service was great and atmosphere was wonderful. If back in Saluda again, will definitely come back here to eat.

Best breakfast. Best hamburger. Great hotdog. Its where all the locals congregate, you can frequently find me there too.

This guy is a cheapskate! I ordered the sweet teriyaki onion wrap and it was $15.64 before tax! I…read morecompared prices on online ordering and most places have the wrap at $9.99! No prices are listed on the menu and no one said anything about a wrap being higher priced than a sub or flatbread! Ever since this family has taken over, this place has been ridiculous! Skimpy portions, high prices and the owner put a cardboard box up so you can't see your sub being prepared! The only positive thing I have to say was the person who made my wrap was extremely friendly and kind. When I questioned the cost, they also agreed the wrap price was ridiculous! Pretty bad when the employees agree their boss is a cheapskate! I really hope they go out of business!

I don't normally write reviews on chain restaurants but I am today. We were headed back from a day…read moreof hiking and stopped in to eat here. When I tell you, we met THE BEST sandwich maker, I am not kidding you. Her name is Melissa. We ordered our sandwiches and I noticed that she was taking her time and not just slapping something together, as all sandwich shop chains do. First she made sure to pick the perfect bread and then she made the ratios perfect, laid everything down like she was preparing this sub for a photoshoot. She proceeded to my husband's sub and took the same approach. I mean, these subs could be in advertisements for Subway, this is how it should be. And it wasn't like she was taking a super long time doing it, she was efficient and genuinely looked like she enjoyed her job. Melissa perfected her craft and should be recognized for taking pride in her job. We weren't the only ones that noticed, the couple that came in behind us couldn't get over how perfect she built their sandwich. Not to mention, these were by far the best subs we have ever had. She's a rockstar!
