Food was awful, cold. My sister and I both got quiche and it was cold in the middle. Fries are not hand cut (as advertised) and the pimento cheese was very blah. My sisters soup was also cold and gritty. Service was surly at best. When we only took less than a bite each, the waitress was quick to clear our plates and didn't even bother asking if everything was ok. I cannot recommend nor will I visit again. read more

While out and about after a Dr appointment decided to stop here. The reviews all looked good so why not. The location was out in the country setting and there was no phone service. Luckily they had WiFi and gave you the pass word for it. First ordered a cup of coffee which was served with half and half or some cream. First seen they had fried green tomatoes and had to try them. You get 4 lightly breaded fried tomatoes served with a homemade sauce that was good. These were $6, The hamburgers were a good size, mine was with blue cheese and was pretty good. It was cooked perfectly. Ordered fries because I was not in the food for chips, but look how many you get for $3.00 that was a rip!! The reason for 3 stars was the server, only because she was super fast Everytime she came to the table Literally she did not stay long enough to see if you needed anything else so she made more trips for herself Food was good. Everything we ordered at the Harvest House was the right temp, the right flavor, and plated just right. We sat outside for dinner in their lovely courtyard at the back. The ambience and service felt like what you'd expect at a much fancier restaurant. Bonus: you can even let your dog sit out there with you if you like (there's an easy walkway around the building from the parking lot to the back area). The server was not very personal, however she was the only server and the place was not busy at all. The food was not good, the burgers were frozen right out of a box, not hand patted,. The burger came with chips ( of which I did not get) and I also ordered a side of fries. The fries were the frozen thin cut. You would think I would have gotten my chips as they were included. I did not. They need to go to Ike's Grill in Spartanburg and learn how to cook good hand patted burgers, and how to serve fries that are made from a whole potato that goes thru a hand potato slicer with the skins . I am using my husband's account to write this review. My friend and I went to lunch at the Harvest House today, October 4th 2022. My friend had been before and recommended it. We walked in and seated ourselves at the last table on the right side, by the window. The first wait staff came to take our drink order and we both ordered water with lemon. She came back with the water with lemon. No problem so far. Then another person, a female wait staff took our order for food and was "snappy", with an attitude. When she brought back our food she threw it on the table without a word and left. We ate and then she came back and threw our check on the table, again with no word. She left our table and went directly to another table where she asked them if they were enjoying their food and if they would like dessert. The contrast between the treatment was glaring. My friend and I were puzzled. We had no idea what we did to anger this person, and still don't. If she had asked me if I was enjoying the lunch, I would have told her it was simply delicious. I ordered the salmon salad with fresh spinach leaves and a honey mustard dressing and the salmon was cooked perfectly. I would have given the Harvest House a five star rating, but because the the rude treatment I am giving it a two star. This is how much it ruined our enjoyment. Will I go back again? Maybe. Harvest house is a small yet intimate restaurant. They serve deli sandwiches (boar's head meat) and burgers (painted hills meat). They also have a pretty decently sized vegetarian menu with sandwiches, salads an wraps. You can tell there is a heavy emphasis on quality ingredients. The restaurant is clean and staff is friendly. The food here isn't good. My wife and I tried this place once. She had the shrimp which was frozen and a small plate for the price. I had the burger with frozen fries. The burger was pretty bland and the frozen fries had no taste. For the price it was really bad. I don't recommend going here. I don't see how anyone can give this place 5 stars! read more

I used to love this restaurant, now i just like it. They have new people in the kitchen. My food hasn't been made right my last three visits. I appreciate they have to train new staff but shouldn't someone be checking to see that they are preparing the food correctly. My sandwiches have been made wrong twice and burnt once. My husband had the exact same experience with his sandwiches. I dont know what has happened but please somebody fix it. I want to love this place again. read more

Oh my goodness, to anyone reading this, if you have never been to the Harvest House Restaurant in Landrum, South Carolina, then you must stop doing whatever you're doing right now.(Yes I know you're reading my review right now, I don't care ),stop. Get in your car, go pick up all your friends and family, take them to this restaurant for dinner, and they will thank you for it. When you go in, don't be fooled by their laid-back atmosphere. While the dining area is relaxed and comfortable, the food is fine dining. If you are into fine dining, you must not let this jewel slip you by, and if you're coming to try this place out, please, please, please stop by and pick me up on your way. Man, I was really looking forward to what I was going to fix for supper. Now I'm just sitting here disappointed that I'm going to have to eat my own cooking, which is not bad by the way, but it's in no way anywhere near as good as Harvest House. You know what... UPDATE to my previous review: Have now eaten here quite a few times. As the restaurant has developed, so has the food and service - both are very good with forays into outstanding. Hours are consistent now 11-9 6 days a week, lunch and dinner. Definite must try if you haven't! We have eaten lunch here on several occasions, dinner for the first time last Sat nite. Lunches first - the burgers are phenomenal. Period. And I am not a big burger fan..but the meat comes from Oregon is freshly patties, and cooked to perfection. I love the Aussie (minus the pickled vegetables), hubs goes for the straight cheeseburger. A side of fresh cut fries (sweet potato or regular) tossed in sea salt is the perfect accompaniment, although they do have other, more healthy choices. There are lots of other choices - wraps, salads, soups, as well as a daily special or two - as well as a decent veggie menu. Dinner - burgers are available on the dinner menu, but we broadened our horizons a bit. Speckled pigs wings appetizer was amazing - had never seen it on a menu, love at first bite. BFF ordered pork chop, nice and thick, cooked perfectly. Roasted asparagus and sweet potato fries were her sides of choice - she was very pleased with the entire meal. I ordered the special - a seafood pasta dish that I thought was good, if not quite outstanding. We split a bourbon pecan chocolate pie slice and it was a perfectly delicious ending. Wait staff is always courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area - even worth a drive if you are not. It is my delight and surprise to report to all of you in the Tryon/Landrum (and surrounding) area that we now have a 5-Star Restaurant open daily for our pleasure. That restaurant is The Harvest House, located on 176, just about halfway between the two aforementioned cities. Harvest House only recently opened but it is a shoe-in to be here for a good long time. I had an exceptional meal there tonight - in my case a center-cut pork chop, perfectly cooked, crowned with an apple chutney and accompanied by two sides (they offer a choice of about 6). Mine were julienned carrots, zucchini and yellow squash, very thinly sliced, and fresh spinach. I don't know how they were prepared but I cannot remember the last time I had any vegetable in a restaurant that was expertly cooked and seasoned so perfectly that I simply forgot that there were condiments provided at the table. The restaurant isn't fancy. The prices are reasonable. The service is wonderful. The wait staff is attentive, polite - no, more than just polite - friendly and welcoming, and the from what I could see, the entire place is squeaky clean. However, every successful circus has a ring master that makes the show a smashing success. Harvest House's is a young man, named Adam, who is a fantastic chef. If he's more than 28 years old, I'll be surprised. Tonight, because I got their early, just barely before the evening wait staff arrived, this personable, engaging young man acted as my waiter as well as my chef. He's a delightful person and way too young to be this good. He started by bringing me an amuse bouche, which is a one-bite appetizer and palate cleanser. It was a combination of roasted peach, strawberry puree and roasted thyme. And if you think that even comes close to describing the taste and the elegance of that one tiny mouthful of heaven, you are very mistaken. I haven't had my bouche amused in a very long time. The main course, as I've already said, was out-of-this-world. Harvest House has a full-sized menu, with appetizers, entrees (divided into Pork, Poultry, Beef and Vegetables), and desserts. I didn't have one but I suspect I would have if I had any room left. They have a very fine wine menu as well. I'm sure I'm going to be accused of shilling for this wonderful, modestly decorated café, but so be it. I can take it. If you don't eat there soon you'll only be cheating yourself. The best review of the chef I got tonight was from one of the excellent wait staff, who remarked: "Not only is he an amazing chef, one of the best I've ever worked for, but he uses only the freshest and best ingredients." I am puzzled by all the five star reviews I am seeing, but it looks like most of those people ordered burgers. Maybe I went on an off night, visiting from out of town. The staff could not have been more friendly, and the service was outstanding, but I found the food very lackluster. I ordered the shrimp and grits and it was a very head scratching rendition of the dish. Though the shrimp were cooked perfectly, the grits were bland and had an odd texture with no attempt at creaminess or seasoning. The tasso gravy had a bizarre, sweet, almost maple taste. It didn't make sense, and not in a good way. My dad's pork chop was overcooked and he didn't enjoy his meal either. The side salad was pretty good, though the bacon vinaigrette somehow tasted neither like bacon or vinegar. Overall we felt like the menu made the dishes sound good, but the food didn't follow through. read more

Harvest house has the best angus burger in the county hands down. It's a great lunch spot which I highly recommend. You have to ignore the lack of ambience and drafty conditions and focus on the quality of food. Dinners are a different story. While the menu is ambitious , it's not as good a value as lunch. A recent dinner of chicken piccata in a lemon caper sauce was very different from the first time I tried it. At $17 for the entree and $8/glass for a middle of the market merlot, I was reminded of the Cheesecake Factory in LA that served a similar dish, "Chicken royale" which was a chicken piccata pounded flat and sautéed in a white wine and lemon caper sauce with buttery mashed potatoes , haricot verts and carrots in a butter sauce for $22.95 and a Sonoma Cutrer Russian River Chardonnay for $10/glass and it was enough food for two people served in an opulent setting with oversized banquettes and marble floors on La Cienega. The restaurant here was empty for dinner tonight when alternatives were packed with 30-45 min waits on a Friday night. Here's hoping it comes around to match the lunches. read more

I really enjoyed this simple but wonderful little diner in the mountains. Even after arriving for a late 3 pm lunch, the waitress was lovely and helpful. The chef was kind enough to make a bread substitution for my choice of sandwich and I was a very happy camper! Try the fried green tomato and smokey pimento cheese sandwich on rye and you won't be disappointed. But watch out for possibly burning your lip on the freshly fried tomato! I added a side of tater tots because I was feeling nostalgic and they were stupendous! Right on the money. My vegan friend (everybody has one) was quite happy with his veggie wrap with potato chips. I look forward to my next trip up to the mountains to thrift and eat at the Harvest House. read more

This has become my new favorite place to eat in Landrum/Tryon. The ingredients are always fresh and the service is great. The atmosphere is maybe not quite up to the standards of the food, but it is ok. I love the Reunion Malbec wine - my favorite and it is hard to find. The mussels I had last week were some of the best I have ever had. I actually had them two nights in a row.... My teenage kids love to go there and almost always order the beef medallions and the really tasty sweet potato fries. I hope this place stays. If you have't tried it you should. read more

We are locals, residents of Tryon, and this is without question our favorite go to restaurant. Don't be fooled by the modest look of the place-they really know what they are doing in the kitchen! The lunch fare is always good with innovative sandwiches such as The Pilgrim and things such as sweet potato fries, but the burgers are the star. The best burgers in town! This is why you will often find so many people there at lunch but thankfully, so far, not so many that you have too wait to be seated. Our favorite time to go however is in the evening. The pace is a bit slower and the dinner fare is excellent. Dinner specials are usually on offer and ever one we have tried has been great. One of the stand out specials that we get is their filet which, like all of their meats, is organic grass fed and as fine of quality that you will find in 5star restaurants in the big city. The filet, trout, salmon and chicken we have never been less than fully satisfied. The sides and salad are all excellent but try the corn Rissotto or grits. The same can be said for the desserts which are always delicious. And try the dessert wine, Yum! Finally, as often cannot be said of restaurants in this area, the waitstaff at the harvest house are friendly courteous and extremely knowledgeable. You really owe it to yourself to give this modest looking little restaurant A try! We have never been disappointed and we do not think you will be! read more
