This was my first trip to South Carolina and the first stop was Southern Manners - it did not disappoint! We had a huge group of ladies to celebrate our bride and the staff were all fabulous - big shout out to our cashier/server, Jaden! He was amazing and so accommodating with our 19 top. The ordering was as smooth as it could be and Jaden made sure to go around asking any questions he had about the orders. The food came out relatively quick considering how many people we had and I really appreciate the staff. The pricing was very reasonable and i would recommend if you're looking for a real home-y feeling restaurant with good food! In regards to ordering, we had special accommodations because we were a big group, but normal flow has customers ordering and paying when they walk in the door and then the food is brought to your table. It has a fast food vibe, but I didn't mind it! The line moved pretty quick while we were there. Can't wait to go back! read more

Spot on for a very fresh breakfast!! The hash browns are so crispy ..ate them all!! Plates were made to perfection. Homemade breads..I had the cinnamon toast with perfectly cooked crisp lean bacon and eggs. Amish groceries and bakery in the side...can't miss that as it's the exit for your meal!! A 2 because of the 50 minutes it took to get our order (a pancake with bacon & Jenny's French toast). The food was good but not special. Many others who arrived after us were served before us. Even when we brought it to their attention, it took even longer. At the register, another customer was also complaining about the wait. So it seems that they lose some tickets while expediting others. Ambiance is waaay toooo loud! We will not return. read more

I really enjoyed knowing that a lot of the stuff came from Amish up in Pennsylvania and Ohio. I like the fact that we order & pay before we sit down. I've loved the general store and being able to purchase some items. It's definitely a place to visit more often. read more

We ate the Western Omelet and Gumbo Grits Bowl. Western Omelet was delicious and full of sausage ! Gumbo Grits Bowl was pretty to look at and exactly as advertised, but bacon bits and sausage were pretty hard and not very tasty ( sauteed alot earlier most likely ) . Im not sure why, but it wasn't. What a lovely slice of heaven! There is plenty of parking and seating - even a covered porch if you prefer the outdoors. The entire establishment was clean. The service was exceptional- fast, kind, and polite. The food was delicious too. I ate a fresh cranberry-pecan salad with chicken and tangy mustard dressing. My sister got the grilled chicken salad honey mustard dressing that was equally delicious and satisfying. Our husbands both got cheeseburgers with sweet potato fries and some magically sweet cinnamon sauce that made my husband's eyes roll back in his head. We checked out the beautiful desserts and ice cream next door and then moved on down to the general store. We could not get over the variety of exquisite hand-made crafts, sweet treats, jams, spices, etc. We left with full bellies, gifts, and smiles. A must stop for the traveler and local alike. We will be back next time we travel to one of our favorite destinations. read more

Stopped this morning on our way back to Florida. I always love getting a good breakfast in before a day spent in the car. Who is with me? Well, after a long weekend in North Carolina we finally found amazing sausage gravy. Full of flavor with tasty bits of sausage. Hubby loved every bite, couldn't even snap a pic. I really enjoyed both the baked oatmeal and loaded hash browns. The oatmeal had amazing flavor and the fruits and pecans on top along with a bit of milk and maple syrup was phenomenal. I'll be dreaming about that cup tonight. And if you've never had hash browns with green pepper - DO IT! I usually do onion but now thing green pepper will be added to every hash brown dish I make. There are not too many places on this main street and everyone has different hours and days open. This place happened to be opened after I had a procedure on my back. When walking in you place your order and pay and they bring to whatever table you sit at. All I seen was high school aged kids working no one older After the food came out, we noticed the girl charged for a more expensive breakfast so she asked what else she could bring instead of any refund for her mistake, If you want more coffee you have to get up and get it yourself. Not sure if this way of services are pre covid or because of covid. Kinda a pain to have to get up to get your own coffee refills My breakfast was one piece of sausage, one french toast and one egg almost $5.00 I think I would have rather had a mcdonald's egg McMuffin with sausage. Definitely not worth the money. Food was ok nothing special. I guess because of covid things changed seemed like the food and service use to be much better from what I have read., I am sure if they know you it maybe different too. A hidden treasure with excellent food and service. The menu is amazing for both breakfast and lunch. Order at the counter and your food is served to your table with frequent checks on whether you need anything else. Nice expanded new location. Clean. It has an ice cream shop, and bakery connected to the restaurant- selling long lost old fashioned candies and other novelties for sale in a gift shop. I got a turkey, cranberry wrap - a tomato spinach wrap. Every bite was better than the last. Slow. Be prepared to sit and talk a long while waiting. Odd how they run the show. You have to order at register first. Be nice if they had signage telling you that. I was just trying to get seating for us, but all of a sudden we had to rush our order or get in the back of the line. They seem to have plenty of staff; why not run like a normal restaurant? Never let your customer wait so long they write a bad review while still waiting on their food. Update: the food was good though. Sausage gravy biscuit had nice amount of sausage and a little spicy. You get your drink at the station but come around with refills.. Do yourself a favor and get the tomato basil toast. It's now my favorite bread!! This is the best place in Columbus, NC for breakfast. I have started going once a week on my day off. I get the cinnamon roll, a cup of fresh fruit and coffee. They only make a handful of cinnamon rolls, so if by chance they are out by the time I get there, I get the cinnamon roll pancake! My husband has tried their biscuits and gravy and their breakfast sandwich. It's all good!!! read more

I love Southern Manners! I have never had anything quite like their baked oatmeal. It is my absolutely favorite. I also love their bacon, egg and cheese biscuit! Sometimes I get both lol the service is always great too. The staff is so kind and helpful. It feels like home, but you don't have to do any of the cooking or cleaning. I have yet to stop by for lunch, but I will definitely be back soon. I'll be sure to grab a picture of the famous baked oatmeal next time I'm in too. read more

I had a Reuben sandwich which just so so. Another in my party had. Caesar wrap which was very dry and not very good, another had a BLT in which the bacon was so overcooked it kept falling out of the sandwich and the onion rings were over cooked. The service was fine, but the room was so huge that there really wasn't any ambiance to speak of. More quilts on the walls might help the sound and looks. We were all fist time guests at the new location and really looking forward to it,but we were all very disappointed. Southern Manners is located in a small town, Columbus, NC. And Southern Manners was actually really good. Plenty of seating as we went upstairs to get it. We were a little bit lost at first, but after asking a little you don't get seated rather you order then get a number, then they will bring the food to you. This will be quick one. I ordered the Roast Beef Delight on a toasted tomato basil bread. It was tasty! I enjoyed it, however I think what sort of made the sandwich a little bit too much was the jalapeño mayo, which was spread pretty liberally and I felt that it took away from the sandwich. I should have asked it for a side, but the spread itself wasn't bad! I enjoyed the jalapeño mayo and that was something was pretty exciting. The ingredients were fresh in my sandwich and tomato basil bread? That was pretty cool. I also had onion rings on the side. Nothing special there. If you're on the road and you want to get something to eat, I would recommend to stop by here and try this place out. read more

Food is good, the prices are high though. I understand that costs are up right now but it's always been on the expensive side. They don't really wait on you. You order up front fix your own drink and then they bring your food to your table. Mostly deli style sandwiches. The homemade soups are seasonal. They have great stone ground grits, the best I think I've ever had. Breakfast is just a regular breakfast type style nothing supper great about it. But the cinnamon roll pancakes are REALLY good, but supper sweet so be warned. read more
