Wrote our bikes up the grade to the big shop and have a peach and raspberry breakfast bar, which were incredible. I'm still googling recipes trying to find one that is similar. The service is awesome and the staff was very friendly. The only thing I wish is that they had More of a coffee bar, but they do have drip coffee and iced tea available. read more

Amazing Pizza!! Have lived in Hendersonville area for almost two years and this has been the best pizza we have tried yet! My wife and I were in town for 1 night and there were only 2 places open. Glad we ate here. Wednesday nights they do pizza. We had the farmhouse pizza and wild salad. Both were excellent. Pizza had a great crust and lots of real bacon. The salad had about $15 worth of walnuts and Bleu cheese so not sure how they make money on that. The chili lime dressing is superb. This is a bakery, so of course gluten free options will be limited, but their offering of their cheese grits with choice of mix ins was a hug in a bowl! So much comfort and a savory treat to the tastebuds! My guys ordered several different baked goods and enjoyed every bite! The coffee was fresh and prices reasonable. Amaaaaaaazing experience. We sat in their adorable courtyard outside. It was a busy Sunday so there was a wait for food but they told us upfront & we didn't mind as we'd just had some delicious pumpkin & apple cider donuts at nearby Skytop Orchard. I had the breakfast sandwich with sausage & havarti cheese had a perfect over medium egg as ordered & the side of fruit was a pleasant surprise with papaya & pineapple. My guy had the quiche of the day, broccoli cheddar with a side soup of the day, butternut squash, both of which were delicious and generous. He also grabbed a slice of hummingbird cake which made it to the parking lot, but not home lol. We enjoyed shopping around in downtown Saluda after. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Saluda or even driving through. On one trip my mom, kids, and I went to the pizza night. We hung out next door at Meanwhile until Wildflour opened, which was fun and also worth a visit. We were seated promptly. The wait staff was kind and attentive - not anything stellar but they were around if we needed them. The pizza took longer than I would expect and my kids were tired but it was delicious when it finally arrived. On our second visit to Saluda we opted for breakfast pastries (and a slice of cake for my birthday). My husband joined us this time and we shared a blueberry cream cheese star, a raspberry cream cheese star, one of the bakery's famous stickies, and a cinnamon roll. The stickie was underwhelming but maybe because I read all of the reviews building it up. ‍ The cinnamon roll was just ok - but our perception is colored by the fact that we just last week enjoyed my annual homemade batch of the worlds best cinnamon rolls. The cheese danishes, however, we're out of this world! Crispy where you expect, chewy where you want, balanced tart and sweet in the fruit fillings and creamy delicious cheese! Even better than any of the danishes was the slice of apple cream cheese bundt cake. It was mainly a perfectly spiced, absolutely moist appley bundt cake with a cream cheese filling and a (too sweet) caramel frosting that I scraped off. If this is an option - do it! If you're dieting just share it with someone you love ;-) read more

We were passing through looking for a good breakfast and what a pleasant surprise we fell upon. The service is quick and the food is fresh! Do yourself a favor and try a sticky before you leave from the bakery, you won't regret it. The ultimate breakfast sandwich is he way to go if you are picky like me and want everything but don't know how to order it. Mostly locally grown food so everything is fresh. I have been eating with Debi since the early 1980's. She worked as a teacher where I worked, and she would bring the most wonderful baked goods to school...and share them. When she left to go into business, we lost an excellent teacher; however, her talents as an outstanding baker were put to their best use. We eat there several times every week. I used to work in Saluda so I was introduced to this place as it is a very small town. The only thing I ever pop in for is a sweet treat for breakfast if we are headed out for a hike (so I don't feel too guilty about indulging). One of my favorite things here are the danishes. The flavors are all good but I am particularly fond of blueberry. The dough is always baked to perfection and stuffed with a cream cheese filling and blueberries. Perfect in every bite. We also got the cinnamon roll this time instead of the stick (which are also fantastic) because we were driving and didn't want to make too much of a mess. It is really fun sharing a cinnamon roll. But these are so big! Perfectly baked, seasoned and iced. I love how they are drier on the outside and as you pull off layer after layer it gets more moist and cinnamon doused. The middle is heavenly. Oh and I was very lucky to go in before they got busy! Often in the summer it is super busy in the mornings and you're lucky if you get any of my favorites because they go quick. The young man at the counter this time was very friendly & fast. read more

Before writing this review a message came up telling me to be kind because of COVID and if I was unhappy I wouldn't go out of my way to say so BUT I will take time to say I'm very happy I found out about Taco Tuesdays! I'm from South Florida visiting friends who have just moved here so I ordered teriyaki steak tacos, buffalo chicken tacos & veggie tacos with rice, jalapeño mac & cheese, cole slaw: EVERY SINGLE BITE was delicious. Nice guy took my order and another nice guy rang it up. Oh and I couldn't leave without a few delicious cranberry white chocolate cookies. The webpage suggests an upscale café, but the reality is more of a rural diner feel, with a long, narrow somewhat dim seating area and a delicatessen counter up front. Add paper plates and plastic flatware (for baked goods) and the ambience is a let down. However, the baked goods, while in limited supply (apparently not all the menu items are available all the time) are of a quite good quality. The coffee is also rather good - as long as you don't mind retrieving the half & half from a quart carton in the cold drink case. read more

This hometown eatery is friendly, welcoming and serves up food fast. Their menu has a very wide selection. From "breakfast served all day" to salads, soups and sandwiches. Their baked goods include bread, bagels, muffins, scones, sticky buns, cinnamon rolls, cookies, and various nut bars. I had a tasty deli sandwich for lunch with a pasta side salad. This is a true organic bakery in the best farm to table tradition. We regularly buy their wonderful breads, which must be quickly consumer or refrigerated because they contain no preservatives. Stickie buns are the best I've discovered in the solar system. Subtle, not overly sweet. The scones are good. However, I have never been treated as rudely in a restaurant than I was once treated here. I arrived early on a Sunday in order to make sure I would get a table for their understandably popular Sunday brunch. I was studying for the LSAT at the time, so I sat at a small table with my study materials as I waited for my food (I was neither taking up an unreasonable amount of space nor taking an unreasonable amount of time, but in fact planned to eat quickly). Soon after my food (which was delicious) arrived, I was asked, along with another young woman dining alone, not just to sit together (which I'm sure I would have agreed to), but to take our food outside and walk into a retail store next door with our food, so that they could seat different customers who had arrived later. We were both outraged, and the man who removed us from our tables was completely oblivious to his rudeness. We had both been forced to move for reasons I can only conclude related to our age and sex. I was not only angered but hurt by this treatment, and I will not be returning. read more

A REAL TREASURE. This is the real ting... authentic bakery with Debi, the "bread goddess," who uses only organic, locally sourced ingredients. She even grinds her own grain for flour! It's been a staple in Saluda for many years offering pizza on Wednesday and Friday nights (best in town with thin or thick crust), wonderful brunch on Sunday with outside tables, sometimes Taco Tuesday nights, fabulous bread (Sunflower is my favorite), yummy cookies, breakfast bars, pastries, etc. Breakfasts and lunches are creative and fresh. Quiche is always a good bet but the breakfast bowls are also a hit. Lots of local art to jazz the place up and there is an accommodating and cooperating store next door where you can grab beer, wine or cider to go with your meal if the bakery's non-alcoholic choices don't suit you. I always order a focaccia when I am headed for a dinner party in town. They will bake up whatever you need for parties and events. read more
