This is my go to for fabulous baked items, chocolate chip cookies-yum, and other goodies in the bakery case, as well as loaves of sourdough bread. There is a very efficient carry out service from phone in orders to quickly access a meal to eat at home or on the go. The sandwich menu is extensive, and the hamburgers are fabulous and HUGE! There is also a dinner offering which changes menu daily. I LOVE this place! The food is freshly cooked, the baked items are made daily, and guess what, healthy eating! Enjoy! The decor is eclectic and fun - many Lego sculptures of Star Wars, Harry Potter castles, Batmobiles, as well as a train the runs around a track suspended from the ceiling. Service was horrible. Food was ok but after waiting over an hour for our food and asking them where it was, "they lost our order". It finally came and then had to remake something they did incorrectly. They were not busy. They just took our almost $80. This place never disappoints. I normally order the Club sandwich. Not too big, not too messy. Has a perfect proportion of meats, bread and sauce. Salads are great here too, always fresh. The service is very goo too. They are helpful and quick. It also sets it aside from other places with their particular decor! Legos all over even a working train! This is a special place. My husband and I dined at The Baker's Box around 5pm on March 14, 2024. I got "The Sandburg", which is a chicken salad sandwich, made with REAL chicken, mayonnaise, tomato, purple onion, and celery; also some type of spice, or maybe celery seeds? It was served on their toasted sourdough bread, with Romaine lettuce and tomato. All of the flavors worked well together, and nothing overpowered anything else. For my side, I chose pasta salad, which was a fun bow tie shape, made with mayonnaise, tomato, carrot, orange and green peppers, and purple onion. I think diced cucumber as well. Delicious, and they did not skimp on the chicken salad! My husband ordered the "DuPont Forest Picnic", which is a club sandwich with smoked turkey, pit ham, bacon, lettuce, tomato, Chef's signature sauce on toasted honey wheat bread. (Copied verbatim from their website). He chose Miss Vickie's kettle cooked potato chips in sea salt flavor as his side. They packed the meat on that sandwich! Swiss cheese would have been a nice touch, and maybe we could have asked for it. The fountain soda was only $1.95. The atmosphere was whimsical, with extravagant Lego sets, trains, model cars, rockets, knick-knacks, and photos, adorning the walls and shelves. Overhead, there was a miniature train running along a track! I think there was outdoor seating. We ate a blondie and a chocolate chip cookie at our table, but took home a brownie and a cornbread lime cookie. I forgot to take photos of dessert! We will definitely go back, as the people were friendly, the food was terrific, and the ambiance was so cozy and inviting! read more

This building has been used as steakhouse, a bar, and at least 3 different pizza places. Though the exterior appears dated, the interior has been nicely renovated and is kept tidy & clean. The restaurant name is a bit misleading as the menu offeRs far more than baked goods. We dropped by to discuss catering, which I is definitely available. Though a little early for the lunch crowd see real other customers were dropping in to pickup orders or make arrangements. Pricing is well in line with similar places, but Mara is willing to accept short notice orders Update: we ordered several excellent desserts for a wedding reception. Everything was amazingly delicious and made to perfection. The guests at the reception commented on both presentation and deliciousness. read more

Today I went for my step dads birthday. Table of 6. 7 meals. After tip $108. The staff was ok. The cashier was ok. She was nice enough. The decor is really interesting. Something you'd have to see to understand. A lot of sci-fi stuff and then there's a model train that runs around a track above you. The food was just ok. I had a patty melt. Nothing special. I dont even remember what was on it. I had the salad as a side. Incredibly small. It was in a small ramekin. It was better than the patty melt. The duck wings were good. The hot sauce was like any other. Just not a very knock your socks off experience. I'd recommend this place. P.S. the fries were not good. Cooked poorly. Way over salted. read more

They have moved locations to a much bigger spot! The interior is super nice and the kitchen is huge. I feel like it is a big move for them in a positive direction and I am glad they were able to do so. They work so hard. But it doesn't have the same feel. I always enjoyed going in and talking with the owners. We went in to check out the display case of desserts to see what sweet treat we wanted. The staff seemed like they didn't really want to be there which makes me sad for the owners. The creme brulee looked curdled and the display case didn't have all of the signs upright. The staff didn't seem very knowledgeable of what was in the case or the fact that the signs had fallen. We got a chocolate cupcake with chocolate buttercream and it was absolutely delightful as usual. read more

The food here is hit or miss. Some of it is amazing and then some it is overpriced and is nothing too exciting. I ordered a salad with chicken and paid $12. The salad was ok. No big deal, but the menu said the salad came with avocado. I do not know what they think avocado is, but what they put in the salad was nothing near fresh avocado. It was totally disgusting! It looked like it had been frozen or something. I couldn't eat it. I asked if I could have some fresh avocado and I was given the same disgusting avocado, again. It was so horrible the second time around that I left it on the table. I was very disappointed as I wanted avocado on the salad and at $12?!! I, also, ordered some of their "homemade" ice cream. "Ice" it was, with no creaminess, at all. For a "homemade" ice cream you would think it would be creamy and delicious. But, quite the opposite, icy and just ok. Now the baked goods here are phenomenal! The raspberry or blackberry almond torte is out of this world! There are many other baked goods that look pretty amazing, as well. read more

This has become one of my favorite lunch places, with fresh and tasty options. So I was excited learn that they are now open for supper on Thursday-Friday-Saturday. Each week they offer about 3 special evening plates, chosen from fresh ingredients available. Tonight I had Grilled Pork Tenderloin sauced with sun-dried tomatoes, sauteed carrot-squash-zucchini, and garlic mashed potatoes ($15). It couldn't have been better; the savory flavors blended perfectly. You order your meal at the counter (don't forget a delicious pastry) then seat yourself while it is prepared. The family met here for lunch. It looked good based on reviews and the menu. The best I can say is meh. The burgers are frozen, the fries were not crispy and there was way too much salt on them. I had a turkey, brie, and cranberry wrap. I didn't even taste the cranberry. The buns fell apart aside from being too small for the sandwiches. I would have given 3 stars but I gave an extra one for their baked goods. That's the best reason to go. read more

Called and asked why no blue cheese, sorry you can drive back and pick some up, no remorse not a hint of concern. Asked for the tip back on a to go order got a guilt trip from the manager. The restaurant was very open feeling( which I like) also was very very clean. I was standing in line for the register where you order and pay first then sit down. There was about 4 people in front of me, but the line moved swiftly, and I was taken care of with good manners, and a friendly/welcoming attitude. I ordered one of the special burgers they had on the daily menu, and it was very good. The prices were a but touchy, but I am definitely going back because the quality of the food was worth eating . We went to the Baker's Box for lunch today with my wife, our daughter, and our five year old granddaughter. Each of us got a different sandwich and all were great. They have a kids' menu and it more than enough for my granddaughter. We split a cupcake for dessert and that was delicious. The people were friendly and helpful. I have stopped here several times, and never been disappointed. For a long time, I tried only pastries, all of which were excellent. Their buttercream frosting is truly amazing, soft, rich, and not too sweet. But today I stopped in for lunch and OMG. Beyond expectation. Extensive sandwich and wrap menu, salads, and a soup or two of the day. Ordered a burger / which I rarely do as so many are subpar/ and the first bite blew me away. Tasted more like a steak sandwich than a burger, and the in house made hoagie roll just took it over the top. Caramelized onions, bacon, blue cheese - delicious and different. Choice of sides - I chose the fries - handcut, hot, and fresh. For dessert, a (unique) cornmeal lime cookie - delicious. Another picked corned beef - cooked in house, served on house made rye, with melted pastrami and a spicy stone ground mustard. Picked up a blueberry crumb coffee cake to take home, which was dense and buttery with lots of blueberries, If you are a tourist, it is about a mile from the downtown area - and worth the "drive". Lots of free parking. Order at the counter and they bring your meal to you. Beverages are self serve. Go and enjoy. read more

Trying this new place for lunch! Great selection of sandwiches, salads and wraps. They all come with your choice of side, pasta salad, potato salad or fries. Seems really popular, there was a good crowd inside. Plenty of tables to eat in, and they bring the food to your table. Food is served on metal pie plates. Sandwiches are generous, recommend getting fries as a side, the other sides are very small portions in a little plastic cup. Fries were hot, not greasy but not as crispy as I would like. They also have bakery items, including pecan pie, chocolate peanut butter pie, muffins and other goodies. Will definitely be back! read more

We just enjoyed a fabulous Thanksgiving dinner prepared by The Baker's Box! We had a family of twelve and everyone commented on how good it was. The only thing we couldn't agree upon was which dish was the best. The turkey was juicy and flavorful, the mashed potatoes were "some of the best ever eaten," and the squash casserole was enjoyed by people who "don't usually eat squash." And the desserts! Oh my! We loved the Kentucky Bourbon Pecan Pie and French Silk Chocolate. Yum! So good!! We are from TN and were so happy to find this place and Myra and her husband were super nice to work with. We would like to come back to NC for thanksgiving again and will definitely use the Bakers Box for our feast!! Thank you! read more
