Not too much not too little, perfectly cooked. Hand cut Belgian fries crispy and golden brown. My meal came with two dipping sauces and I chose cocktail and horseradish aioli. I've always been a fan of cocktail sauce but the horseradish aioli beat it hands down. Just enough zing, not harsh like horseradish tends to be. The service was fast. The place was small but clean. I look for cleanliness and this place was. There was no dust or fingerprints. No trash strewn about. All in all I'd give it a ten. I will definitely be back. read more

The Golden Chip is delicious, freshly made reasonably price food. We went here on Sat. Afternoon for some fish n' chips and their Saturday shrimp special and they did not disappoint! They have about a dozen homemade sauces everything from spicy to traditional I can't wait to go back and try more. They were wonderful! Make sure to try a variety of sauces. They are all homemade. Our favorites were the Aioli, Tartar, and the special sauce with the yuca fries-YUM! This is as close to a British "chippy" as you can get in the area! Was driving back home out of Asheville and the sign for Golden Chips and had to stop in for lunch. As soon as you walk in, you'll be greeted by the friendly owners. This place is family owned and is lovely! There is limited seating, but if you get there right when it opens or off-peak times, you should be able to find seating. The food is also delicious - I was so happy with the quality of the fish. I ordered a cod fish sandwich and the Belgian fries, which are hand cut (which were delivered tableside by one of the owners!) and was sad when I finished. If I remember correctly, all the sauces are made in house I loved the garlic aioli. In a time of rising prices everywhere, Golden Chips prices are super reasonable for the quality and quantity you receive. read more

Every day since the day it opened, I've driven past this shop and thought, "one of these days I'll pop in and check it out." Today was the day I finally did, and l really regret not doing it sooner. I was expecting counter service, and that's what I got. Still, a lot of places can and do make that painful, and Golden Chips does not. The interior is really clean and comfortable. Seating inside is limited, but there were more seats than I was expecting for the space they have. Still, I'm not about to inflict my maniac children upon a space that looks so clean, so I ordered mine to go. The cod and catfish were both really tasty and surprisingly light for fried food. The Belgian fries have a really good texture, and even though I usually prefer crispier ones, I'm already craving more. Between me, my wife, and our kids, we tried four sauces and every one of them was really good stuff. As a lifelong tartar sauce hater, it pains me to say that the house-made tartar sauce might just be the best one we tried, but the creolaise and aioli are both strong contenders as well. None of them were bad, I would order all of them again. Seriously, A+ sauces. Short version: awesome little spot, no notes. I'll definitely be back. read more

The cod was lightly breaded, well seasoned and flaky, the chips were hand cut and crispy and the choice of house made sauces was excellent - especially liked the tartar sauce with lime and the 'cajunaise'. Counter service with just a few seats inside -but a very pleasant outdoor picnic space that will be good in warmer weather. The creolaise is probably the favorite of mine to go with the Swai filet fingers. My sister had the chicken fingers with honey mustard which was sooo delicious and moist. The seasoning on the fish and the chicken was absolutely perfect!! The man and woman that were I assume the owners were the sweetest and most helpful people ever.
