When we walked in the door, no one was there to greet us, so we walked up to the bar and asked how seating worked. Turns out you just walk up to a table and a server will come to you. Or so we were told. We waited 10 minutes for someone to bring drinks and menus. After taking our order, the waitress sat outside with her friends. Every time the door opened, the smell of smoke billowed in from the patio. Finally, the cook brought out our mains before the appetizer, which had been sitting in expo under a lamp the whole time. So when he brought that out it was completely dry. Also, for an English-style pub there was a lot of country music and Baja Men. Maybe it's for some but it wasn't for me. If I could do zero stars I would. Our server (young woman with large pink bow in her hair) had friends who seemed to have issue with us hanging out on the large leather couch. While my husband went to the restroom her friends (a red head and a taller woman with brown hair) occupied his space and when he tried to come back they claimed he forcefully shoved them... which absolutely did not happen. I was literally sitting right there watching this unfold. Our sever and her male companions proceeded to scream at us ... I thought I was able calm her down and say hey, no problems with your service, your friends were just off putting. We went outside to get an uber home and the male companions mad dogged us and told us to never come back because the friends said my husband shoved them. Literally a lie. Hounded us until we walked a few blocks away. Threatened that we should never step foot there again. So just make sure you don't cross the waitress/bartender friends I guess. Music was actually good if you're into early 2000s hip hop, which made it more confusing that people were so aggressively angry. Womp womp. read more

They made sure every drink was perfect and created an awesome vibe that made the whole experience even better. The lion and crown is a great spot for chilling out, having some drinks, and lounging around. They've got loads of seating, couches, tvs, and a game room. The bartenders are always quick and friendly. I haven't tried much of their food, but I had a decent bratwurst there a few weeks ago while watching a football game. It feels home-y in there. Great English public house. I decided on the Cottage Pie and was not disappointed. Ground beef, carrots, peas in a delicious gravy topped with mashed potatoes and "crowned" with cheddar cheese. There are at least 16 draft beers on tap. The staff was friendly, attentive and personable. It's a great place for a relaxing lunch, gathering with friends & family and you can bring your dog as there's seating outside at the patio. 21 & up after 9:00 pm. Bad food, skunk beer, and stoned bartenders. Had never been, decided to meet some friends for an after work drink and a meal. We walk in and sit at the bar, and it took at least ten minutes to even be served. The first beer tasted "off", I'm guessing their lines haven't been cleaned in a while. The food was straight up nasty. The beef tacos were serviceable, which was the highlight. The chicken tikka masala was oh so bad. The chicken was dry and the sauce was def not a tomato base or anything resembling chicken tikka masala. The bartenders both seemed either intoxicated or stoned, possibly both. Def not in any shape to be working. The male was constantly forgetting and misplacing items, the female forgot our names, our orders, our drinks, and even that we had ordered food. understand that service industry workers will sometimes drink or consume drugs while working, but these two were definitely on another level. Would give 0 stars if I could due to the bad food, drinks, and service. None among us could finish our drinks or food It was that bad. Stay away!!! read more

Once a neighborhood hotspot, Lion has recently become a dangerous place to grab a beer. Regular bar fights, drug use, and ill-tempered bar tenders make it a bad choice for your night on the town. If you have a choice, choose something better! I used to go there almost everyday, but during my recent trip to Dallas, a group of bikers attacked one of my friends for no reason and badly beat his face. The fight blew up inside the bar and continued outside, resulting in a broken glass door, bodily injuries, and total chaos. Although my friend was a victim of the fight, he was thrown out by the manager and further injured outside that night, and no one ever called the police. This place is no longer the fun, safe neighborhood bar that it once was, so I suggest finding another location! read more

Wow this visit blew my expectations! I have been here before for a drink on the patio and it was great, however, it was just kind of a normal visit-nothing to write home about. I just went again last night, and the place was popping!! Found a seat inside and was quickly greeted by a server. They had the game going on like 6 different tvs so it's a great place to watch sports! I ordered some food and a drink and the server repeated everything back. Drinks came back quickly, food did too considering how busy it was!! I got the tacos and they were really good street tacos for a bar- i wouldn't expect that. Also had the wings and fries, they were really good!! I had to be sure to write a review because my experience didn't at all match some of these other reviews. Our friend group, with anywhere from 8-15 people, were Friday night regulars for nearly 3 years. A little over a year ago we stopped coming here because of several incidents with a sleazy bar manager named Josh. Nearly all of us stopped going to this bar as a result. They have changed management since then thankfully, and I've been back twice. The food quality has gone down (cold fries, undercooked chicken tenders, smaller portions). Bathroom was completely out of paper towels and hand soap. We watched a fight happen last time we were there. Honestly it's a little sad now because we had such fond memories of this place and it used to be the absolute best dive bar in the area. Now it's just disappointing. read more

This was a completely strange experience. There is a vibrant crowd of drinkers here but if you aren't a regular plan on being ignored! I sat at a table and except for three brief visits my experience was self service and I had to get a dessert somewhere else. I watched three couples walk in get ignored and then leave. Hit or miss for me... I don't come here too often but when I do I expect a lot because I've had good times here and received good service before. I know not to get my hopes up, especially when I walk in and only see one employee... Its happened more than once where the single bartender is set up for failure, all alone, aside from the chef, scrambling to try and help everyone. They handle it one of two ways: they are optimistic and transparent about their current situation or they have a terrible attitude due to their hangover. It's never enough and just ends up with the manager having to come in to assist. Nonetheless, massive praise to the chefs - I really enjoy the grilled chicken club sandwich, the steak burger, and more recently their juicy chicken tenders! #pub read more

Came here last night after a concert in the hopes of having a nice dinner and some drinks in a chill pub atmosphere. What we found was quite the opposite. While the bartenders were nice enough, the patrons were something else. The place was mostly empty, but there were several extremely loud and aggressive men who were absolutely sloshed, clearly having been significantly over served. They were yelling loudly and aggressively and running all over the bar threatening other patrons who then almost got into fights with them. They were making all kinds of threats including telling another patron "If he had his gun he would fuck him up right now." This behavior was so frightening and disruptive that we left after scarfing our food down and only drinking our first drink because we were genuinely afraid. The bartenders and management did absolutely nothing about it, allowing those men to run amok scaring people, threatening physical violence, and making lewd comments. It sucks because the food was actually delicious and well priced, and we would have stayed longer and drank/ate much more if the atmosphere hadn't been so scary and aggressive. Sadly, if you're a woman or a man who doesn't like getting into fights, I can't recommend this place. read more

Who doesn't love a great dive bar. Although I'd say the Lion is a step from a dive. Great selection of beer on tap, cocktails, great sound system and the food ain't bad, I recommend the steak burger or street tacos. Two thumbs up, love the Lion. read more

We stopped here on 7/15/23 for dinner and were looking forward to an English pub atmosphere and great food. Unfortunately, we discovered something else. First, the place was deserted except for a complement of bar patrons which should have leveled our expectations. The food was not great and the service was terrible. Let me explain. Our waitress was either chatting with bar patrons or glued to her mobile phone - head down and intently focused. Let's hope she was looking for a new job! We witnessed the bartender asking the waitress to come to our table - twice - once the bartender found the waitress busy sitting in the hallway again fixated on her phone. After a long wait, we received our somewhat cold food. Our waitress only stopped by once after that and finally the bartender again asked another waiter to check on us. We paid the bill and gladly left. If the horrendous service and lackluster food was not enough, the atmosphere was anything but English pub as a confusing mix of music was blaring loudly the entire time. If a neighborhood English pub is what you are after, this place is easy to ignore. It's easy to understand why the place was not busy on a Saturday evening. It's a great location though so perhaps it will soon be replaced by a new establishment with attentive staff and great food. read more

I am giving this establishment 5 stars because I love coming here and MOST of the bartenders, Q especially always makes my night..... However the bartender G, when we came in he was slurring. We were waiting for a drink for more than 30 minutes. We had many regulars inform us that he had been drinking and was fully under the influence. Our group went back to the pool room to play darts that I bought to play here. He came in suddenly and yelled the word fuck to me saying "fucking remove your drink from the table." I am a very respectful, professional woman and I do not appreciate being cussed at when a if I was asked to move my drink. I don't even know how to say this. This area with these parks is awesome and the website of The Lion and The Crown caught my eye. That must have been made when they first opened. It's not that way now and the prices are wrong on the website. We got the Tower of London onion rings: $5.95, the Fried Pickles $8.50 and a Side Salad with grilled chicken: $5.95 plus $3.00 for the grilled chicken. The Tower of London onion rings didn't even have a flavor really. I expected them to be stacked for some reason which would have been a nice presentation. I was wrong, they were flavorless and just tossed on the plate. About 8 of them. The fried pickles were plentiful but, they might as well of been any fast food places pickles. Really greasy. The side salad with grilled chicken was pretty big with quite a bit of chicken over a spring mix of lettuce. Just your every day Salad. We never got a refill on drinks the whole time. Maybe they were understaffed, it didn't look like it. There were 3 waitresses and a bartender for 9 people, us three included. Then it was time to pay. No check. The waitress apologized after we waited about 15 minutes for the check and said the credit card machine was down. I said I'll pay cash and she said, I don't know about that I'll have to talk to a manager. 15 minutes later she came by without even giving me a check and asked if she could just write down my credit card number and do it later? Really? Who asks that question? They hadnt even given me a bill yet. Come to find out they couldn't even print a guest check. I'm surprised no one could add up what we had on their phone, add in tax and just take cash! I did. I knew exactly what I owed. Nobody there had a clue what to do. 20 minutes later they got things working and gave me a bill. $25.33. I paid in cash and left. I'm totally shocked at how inviting the place looked on the website and how terrible it was when we were there. The manager never even came out after we had waited 50 minutes to pay. Any decent place would have just said "we've got this" don't worry about it. We were inconvenienced by almost an hour for no reason. Requested the manager to call me and no call. The food is sub par and the glasses are not clean at all. Also, after I left , and walking towards my apartment, a bartender saw me from the pool table area; I was on the public sidewalk, when they aggressively approached me. I told him to back up as I stopped him because he was so close, I thought he was going to kiss me. They seem to want to prove themselves for absolutely no reason. Probably because they work at a crappy bar. They ended up backing down when I told him "you don't want to do that". He was within inches of me when I put my hand out to warn him. The bald bartender went back inside and his buddy lost interest when he realized his friend was no longer standing next to him. Lol I thought they were going to assault me that day... and why? This place is one of the worst places I've ever been to. It's up to you if you go to this bar, but this is my warning to other veterans; keep track of your bill. The Londoner was very busy with a match so we tried here. Not many people on a Saturday lunch hour. Had to get our own menus after we were ignored. Bartender was nice but two faced. I ordered a shot of Jameson and I was poured something else, but charged for the Jameson. I watched her pour it. Bar Fly that ridiculed my 2 year old, that was nothing but pleasant and quiet. He told me about even "children can't come in at certain times". However, we were clearly in the rights, in the middle of the day, on a weekend, in the "restaurant section". In England and Ireland, pubs are very child friendly. My father is British (born there) the smug bar fly( (no idea who he was) asked me how the food was. To be polite I said it was "nice". It was nothing I would return to. Then he lashed with some off rude remarks to the Bartendress that stroked his ego and laughed about us. We will never return. Very rude, not good food, never going again. We got out of there as fast as possible. Go to the Londoner. Nicer people, better food. And try not to use the toilet. The rest of us sitting there with empty glasses had to yell "hey wait- we need drinks too". This happened 3 times. Explains why there were 20 people there on a Friday night. The bartender was really friendly, and when I asked about hot sauce, she offered me a housemade habanero hot sauce for 50 cents. Try it if you are into hot sauces. They have different drink specials on different days of the week. When we were there, it was $3 for any beer on tap or something like that. It's right by work, so I will probably be back. read more

The guy planting flowers decided to use a blower to blow dirt that fell on the floor and that flew all over our drinks and appetizers. The food that I ordered never came. When I asked they said its coming, two hours later nothing. What they did bring to the table was charged to someone else's card. i will never go back. This was bad service. read more
