Well today, on 2/26 I decided to cash in on my gift card. I picked a pair of sunnies ($20) and a makeup bag ($25). When I got to the register, I was told I needed to make a purchase of $150 in order to use the gift card. This was never disclosed during the initial purchase. Nowhere on the receipt or gift card does it state this term and condition! When I spoke to the "manager" of the day, she agreed that it wasn't stated in writing, but "that's the way it's set up". Really? How misleadingly convenient. That important detail was left out. What a crock! What a disappointment! Bait-and-switch is BAD BUSINESS. You're obligated to let your customers know these details of your promos and the way they are "set up" beforehand. I'm filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau next.

I'm a weird size but I could tell from the website selection Shoe Market was going to be our best bet. Even though I had to work and couldn't come with to get them on, the store associate was able to advise her a few selections they had in stock that might work for me. When my girlfriend returned home with two pairs for me to try I kept both because they were both quality and stylish options with a good fit on my weird foot.

This is your spot. As I walked in I was dumbstruck! It made me feel like a kid again. Standing in there I just felt that grit energy that saddly NYC has lost. The owner sprinkled the shop with art and trickets that have their own stories and reminded me of my childhood. I only know this since I tried to buy 4 different items but they weren't for sale because they were sentimental reasons. Though I was sad I couldn't aquire some of these things, the stories he provided filled that need to own it. This spot is a controlled chaos in all the best ways. It has the New York City flavor to its core that would be missed by non-natives. All and all, respect to this shop on every level. I dropped $150 without a second thought after buying alot of stuff because these are shops I want to support. It's passion over profit (in a realistic mindset). Thank you!

People will ask "Where'd you get those?!" We wore Supreme when they didn't have a website. We used to chat with Dave Ortiz or Jeff Staple when we'd pop into their shops. Apps didn't exist. We had to physically be there, meet people, know people. F*ck your Yeezys!

This isn't so much about the store, but about the brand…read more I've been a huge Madewell fan for at least the past 10 yrs. Lately, we're not in alignment as much. In the past, I depended on Madewell for consistently delivering on quality leather goods: tote bags for work, leather boots, loafers and cute casual bags. As an educator, those were my staples. They also had great smooth cotton graphics tees and my faves were when they'd collaborate with orgs such as the NY Botanical Gardens. Rummaging through the sale sections during off season is usually catch some great cardigans and blazers for the fall and great bandannas and jewelry to add a little razzle dazzle. Nowadays, the prices have risen astronomically. Little stackable earrings are now on average $58 and the clasps are weak and poorly made. One day after purchasing 2 pairs from this store, they're coming apart. Purchase a purse, the leather is trashy. A lot of the classics that myself and half the teachers at my school used to purchase have been removed from the rotation. Super annoying! Madewell, please get back to basics. I know the political climate has driven production up , but don't loose your entire customer base and maintain integrity around production. Thanks
