Wonderful experience with Alex! He repaired 3 pairs of shoes, ranging from polishing, adding taps to the front and back, replacing soles, and repairing a zipper. I called ahead to ensure the shop was open. Everything was clean and organized, Alex warmly greeted me when I arrived, confirmed the needed repairs, and shared the price and how long everything would take. Even though my order included 2 pairs of high boots, he was done in just an hour! I worked while I waited. As a first-time customer, normally I would have brought just 1 pair of shoes to test whether I liked the service, but luckily everything worked out. I plan to return and recommend Broadway Shoes to others. It's probably a good time to grab several shoes and take them in for seasonal repair before we switch to warm-weather options or store cold-weather options. Tips: call ahead and make an appointment; drop off shoes before noon if you want same-day service, and confirm the price and how long it will take. The quality of the repair of my shoe was 10/10 would definitely recommend based on just that, they were ready quickly and look brand new. The reason for 4 stars is the woman I worked with at the counter, I went on Friday to drop my shoes she said it was $17 for new insoles and $20 for the heel repair, also had two belt holes added for $2 she said the total was $49 and they would be ready on Sunday I walked out without thinking about it, about 5 minutes later I realized it should be $39 not $49 so I called to inquire but no one answered, so when I went back on Sunday I brought up the pricing and she said that the heel was actually $35 when I pointed out that at $35 it still didn't add up (would be $54 all in) and she just claimed she made a math error and would honor the $49 but it should have been $39. We argued back and forth and since I had no proof of what she said I ended up paying $49. The shoes are perfect and so are the belt holes, I wouldn't have minded paying the $49 or even $54 if that had been the original price but it left a bad taste in my mouth that I was lied to so I will be finding another place for my repairs. read more

Amazing service. We didn't have a whole lot of time... we dropped the shoes off and picked them up literally 2 hours later. Took in my sons very beat up favorite shoes, which you can see the before and after in these photographs... what fantastic work!!! ... I also took in a pair of Frys... which are also now perfect and had the tips put on a pair of heels. This will be my go to shoe repair place forever... Having a well loved pair of shoes brought back to life is the best, it far exceeds buying a new pair and hobbling around for 3 weeks while you break them in.. This is the guy!!! read more

I tore my loafer while walking home and could barely walk on it without shuffling and tripping. I was getting off the J at Marcy Ave and my roommate suggested this shop. Since it was so close, I popped on over and was greeted by the nicest man! I asked if the shoe was salvageable and he said, "Absolutely. I just need to put a piece here and sew it." It took less than 10 minutes and cost $10. I put the shoe on and he said, "Now you can dance again!" It was a great experience. Love this cobbler so far! Found this place because of the high reviews off Yelp. Dropped off 4 pairs of shoes to add rubber soles around 2pm and he called me a little bit after 4:30pm that he was finished. The man working there is super friendly and he says he does same day service. I paid $20 per shoe so $80 in total for all 5 pairs. Also added a little tip because dang that was quick! My old cobbler took almost a week to do anything and the cobbler right next to my house had some pretty awful reviews so I decided to go a bit further to this place. Will be coming back. This place is great! I brought in a couple pairs of stacked heel booties that were pretty wrecked- cracked soles, heels worn down to nubs- and got them back next day, looking great, for a very reasonable price. Alex, who repaired them for me, explained exactly what her would do for each surgery, was very direct with giving me a quote and timing, and was professional and friendly. A couple things to note are: -cash only -while closing time says 7, if you're gonna squeak in at the last minute, you might want to call ahead to make sure someone'll be there. Especially on a Friday when they may close shop a bit early. So glad to have this place in the neighborhood! Will definitely be back to have more soles saved. read more

Compared to other, more hype locations, Alex provides quality service at a fraction of the wait and price, with a personal, amicable, eye-to-eye hospitality. Superbly impressed and would recommend to any of my peers. I brought my vintage S40M Carpe Diems (by the acclaimed Maurizio Altieri) with a short deadline. Brought in a pair of Ferragamo monkstraps (one of my fave pairs) that had part (the cross-piece) of its buckle missing. I hoped and prayed there was a way to replace that piece without replacing the original buckle (and thereby having to replace the other shoe's as well, to match). I failed at this goal another cobbler previously. The proprietor digs through all his buckles, sees a couple that fit, and I ask if he could remove the cross piece of one of 'em and replace it. He puts on his sweet microscope glasses, disassembles the buckle, grinds down the cross piece, fiddles a little bit more, and voila--just like new. All in 10 minutes and all for way less than I was willing to pay. Go here. read more

I brought these guys my favorite pair of boots after the zipper split, hesitant after I had already been told by three other shops that the repair was too complicated and that they wouldn't do it. Because the zipper ended inside of the sole of the shoe rather than on the outside of the boot, it would require them to actually take the sole off to get a new zipper in there, plus there was an extra little leather flap over the zipper that proved to be quite the problem child - thus no shop would take this fix on. Knowing it was going to be a hard road to even get someone to say they'd repair them, I expected the worst, but the very kind gentleman who owns this shop happily took it on and for a price that actually made my heart stop (in a good way) - $17 total! A week later I had my favorite pair of boots again, and they look just as good as when I bought them! The customer service here is just phenomenal. They're incredibly kind and very professional, which can be a bit of a rarity what with the regular gruff get-things-done NYC way. I must have called at least three times like a worried parent wondering how the repair was going and each time they were very helpful and delicate with my fragile sensibilities. All around, this is the place to go if you need any kind of repairs. read more

Great pricing and conveniently located, this place is a shoe haven. I came here with two pairs of boots. One needed a new heel, one just needed a little glue. Taps on both. In total it cost me $42 bucks ( way less than half of what the boots cost). The shop is tiny, like one person should be in there at a time. The guys behind the counter and sweet and helpful. The prices are doable. I was suppose to pick up on Tuesday, but Wednesday worked better for me. They called me too make sure I was coming. Great communication, skills! I Will be back. read more

My favourite neighbourhood spot! In New York it's hard to find a solid mom and pop store with good quality and good prices. Broadway shoes is just that - I have gone there for sole repairs on expensive shoes, polishings, heel repairs. Everytime I sit and wait in the delightful shop while the cobbler goes to work. Their work is good, but they make it inconvenient to work with them. For example, they told me my boots would be ready in 1 week, I didn't end up going back for 2 weeks and the boots still weren't ready. Had they called me this would have been fine, but instead I went out of my way to go pick them up (they have very limited working hours) and they weren't apologetic about their lack of communication and untimely work. Also, they should take their visa signs off the door because they only take cash. This would be less annoying if they were upfront about it. read more

Had a pair of almost new leather boots that were too uncomfortable to wear, so they sat in my closet for a year looking sadly at me. Then, in a moment of inspiration, the scene from Romancing the Stone flashed in my mind. You know, where the dude chops off her high heels. I walked into Broadway Shoe Repair, braced myself, and asked the polite man if, my heels can be chopped. To my extreme relief he said yes. For the very affordable price of $15, my gorgeous ankle boots are 1/2 inch shorter and can finally be worn outside, without fear of breaking my ankle. I even took my husband's favorite dress shoes to be repaired (at hubby's insistence) which, had such tattered leather I thought hubby was better off buying new shoes. To my astonishment for $45 the entire sole was replaced, the worn out leather dyed and shined and it was returned looking like new. There's a bit of a wait since they're a super tiny shop but, repairs are always done when I come back to pick up. So I'm sticking with them. Please note, I've only ever paid in cash. read more
