My flip flops broke and I had to quickly find shoes in order to get home. I'd never been here before as I live in a different neighborhood . Let me start by saying I've bought at least 7 pairs of shoes from Windsor for my kids in the old location. I've always overlooked the rude attitude from the staff because there's a lack of shoe options in the neighborhood. Today I took my son to the new location and was disappointed by the selection and inventory. They didn't have his size in what he wanted so we didn't buy anything. The woman told me she typically charges $5 to measure a foot, but that she'd "give me a break" because I've bought shoes in the past. Not exactly the kind of treatment I'd expect from a neighborhood shoe store. I like to support local small businesses but we will not be back if that's the way they treat their customers. read more

My mother, who lives on a dirt road in Vermont and literally spends most winters slogging through massive snowdrifts because the town plow doesn't always make it to her house, begged me to buy a good pair of winter boots. She told me to look for boots made in Canada, not in China, with Australia falling somewhere in between. So when I wandered in here one day, I was thrilled to find a huge selection of both Canadian and Australian winter boots in varying heights, price points, and levels of waterproofness, snowproofness, and stylishness. Some people like super chatty, attentive salespeople, but when I'm shoe shopping I like to be brought my selections in my size and otherwise left alone. I don't like having the shoes sold to me while I'm trying them on - I just want to see if they fit and look good on me, to walk around a little and see how they feel on my feet, and to be left in peace to make a decision on my own. This was my experience at Windsor's World of Shoes, and I was able to decide on a beautiful pair of Canadian Blondo boots with cute details and super warm linings with nothing but my mother's sage advice echoing in my head. Once I'd made my decision and went to the register, my salesperson was friendly and chatty - she even gave me a pen and a calendar (which was awesome - I actually needed a wall calendar, and this one is a nice size and has pretty pictures of farms and mountains and stuff). I like this little store and I like seeing small local businesses do well. I'll be back and you should go too. Take my mom's advice and get yourself a nice pair of Canadian shearling boots, you won't regret it! I've been wearing mine for months now and they're still waterproof, cozy, and warm. read more

Okay, I love the large selection of comfortable shoes. The selection is amazing. I just discovered Wokly and they carry this brand. Rosie the sales girl was sooo patient with me. Horrible customer service. Told me they would order shoes in my size as they were out of stock and to come back by the end of the week. Came back at the end of the week and was told they didn't receive them yet. Came back a week later and spoke to the same young male clerk and was told "Yeah, we don't have them." When I reminded him that on two previous occasions I was told they were ordered, on their way and to come back his response was that nobody ever said that to me!! Wouldn't allow me to get a word in. Horrible unprofessional service. Don't believe them when they tell you they are ordering them for you. While their selection is great especially in European brands like Naturino ..... The customer service is atrocious!!!! The woman helping me was horrible and when I decided not to purchase a shoe my daughter tried on she proceeded to tell me that they don't measure feet unless you buy. WTF!!! Should have told me before you did your job, no? All the reviews on here regarding customer service are on point! Will never return! Maybe management should give some curtiousy training or hire people who actually want to do their job. You are selling shoes to parents of kids??? The customer service here has really fallen off a cliff and I fear for the future of this store. I have been a regular customer for years, despite i ncreasingly horrible treatment. Instead of responding to the threat of online shoe stores by improving customer service, the staff are now treating everyone who walks in the door like they are a total waste of time. Yes, I'm sure there are people who do come in, try on, and then leave to order online. It's very hard to combat that, but here is an idea for the store manager: try asking people when they walk in if they are a member of the rewards program, and if so, pull their envelope & let them know how close they are to the free pair. If they don't know about that program you can tell them about it. Maybe that will stop someone from going online? But jeez, please don't poison the whole store experience from the get-go by awkwardly refusing to measure my kids' feet. It is petty and it puts me, the customer at odds with your salesperson. I was also made to feel bad recently for trying on shoes and not buying them. Obviously he jumped to the wrong conclusion that I was going home to buy them online. They are THE BEST! They sell good quality shoes i.e. stride rite, and they have the BEST customer services. I have a three year old, and an 18 month old. The last time I went in I was 9 months pregnant. My three year old suddenly had to use the potty. The kind sales clerk quickly escorted my boy to the back, and let him use their restroom. She then sat down with my 18 month old, measured his foot, asked me what I was looking for, brought out several options, then insisted that she watch him walk in the ones we liked to ensure proper fit. It is rare to encounter such kind, and patient assistance! And every sales clerk there is like that every time we go in. read more

Very cluttered store, but lots of merchandise, which has kept me coming back. However, the staff seem only to be interested in assisting parents with children, so good luck if you are an adult. They have ignored me every time I've gone in, which is their loss as I'd be happy to buy my shoes there rather than online, which is what I end up doing after I leave because I'm so annoyed that no one comes back to help if they bring the wrong size or I'd like to try something else on. I have bought shoes at the 5th Ave. location and the Prospect Park West locations. Today I had a terrible experience at the 5th Ave. location and I think I figured out the heart of the problem: OLD SHOES. Last winter I bought $99 Naturino brand boots for my two year old at the 5th Ave. store. I went in today trying to buy her some new winter boots. It look a few minutes for the employee to begin helping me, and when she did I asked if they had the shoe model we bought last year and I showed her a photo. She said she didn't know (and she didn't offer to find out). There were other shoes I wanted to look at in my daughter's size and of five pairs I asked about there was only one pair in stock in her size. She kept bringing me totally unrelated shoes to try on. If they didn't have all the old models up (at full price) on the wall with all the new models, it might be easier for the customers AND for the employees. From looking online later, I found out the boots I wanted were from Winter 2012 and Winter 2013. There seem to be very few sizes of those left. The boots I really wanted to buy were out of stock at both of their stores. The woman kept recommending boots which weren't what I said I was looking for (too tall or not insulated). I asked if I could see the box of the model I really liked and she said no. I asked her what they were called and she just told me the brand name. She got the manager and he said he wouldn't tell me. He said something insulting too ("We speak with an accent but we are not your servants.") He said I was treated "royally". Look, I understand that it is bad for local shoe stores when people go in, try shoes on, and then buy them cheaper online. That wasn't my intention. It's not my fault that they didn't have any of the shoes I was interested in in my daughter's size. Do they really think that I am just going to spend close to $100 on boots I don't like because they don't have the ones I wanted? Being rude to me didn't get me to buy shoes from you. Instead, it's likely that you've lost a customer. read more

The selection is very good, but the salespeople are awful. On one occasion, I was the only customer and waited for 10 minutes for service. On another occasion, another customer verbally attacked me and my toddler and the salesperson reacted completely inappropriately. This store gets 1 star for having a decent selection. Customer service however is dismal. I bought sandals for my daughter's birthday here just two days ago and was told specifically that within 30 days would be either refund or store credit. Today I'm told no refund ever. Guy spent 5 minutes citing their policy and how in 20 years they've never done straight refunds. Why do I care how long you've been in business, *the point is one of your employees told me different and you should stand by that.* I now have to find a way to use this credit at this store but other than that I will never step foot in there again and I plan to tell everyone I know about my experience there, too. read more

Good selection of shoes and I suppose quality comes at a price. The ladies helping out are wonderful and seem to know their stuff, the guy on the other hand that seems to be the manager or owner looks overworked, bored, mean and somewhat rude. However if I'm going to purchase boots at a price, I would hope to get good quality. My last purchase appeared to be a great deal and splurge but beware that when I needed the good quality to kick in I was shocked to find out that if a boot says waterproof it doesn't mean the entire zipper is waterproof, thus what is the purpose if my socks got completely soaked when I needed them the most. Also my daughters zipper on her boot broke within 2-3 weeks. It was hard to zip up and it eventually gave way. I was disappointed. Maybe they should invest in the zipper quality. Although I wish I could go back, I'm afraid of taking the chance once again. It wasn't worth the 300 bucks. I was hoping to continue with their frequent buyer program but i just can't afford to invest in the buy ten pairs in order to get one free program. I rather go to payless at least i know what i'm investing in and I won't feel cheated. read more
