Docked our boat here on a Tuesday right at 11 for lunch. Quick service, great food, beautiful atmosphere! Kid portions are very large! Adult burgers are HUGE, cooked perfectly, and taste delicious on the toasted brioche bun. I had chicken salad that was a little bland, but a healthier option. Fries are breaded and very tasty, as are the sweet potato fries. The ranch is homemade, a bit soupy, but omg real real good! My husband and I are visiting from NJ so since we don't know the area a lot we looked around for some kind of upscale dining experience in the area. Everything is much more spaced apart than back at home so after the long drive we weren't looking forward to driving very far for a good meal. While looking around my husband mentioned this restaurant and after looking at the menu we decided this is the place we're going to try. What a great decision that was! Seriously!!! We tried a few drinks, the rosé-mosa was by far the best drink we had there. The cold brew vanilla drink and the pecan pie drink were a little off the mark but still solid drinks! We ordered the Maryland crab pretzel app and it was delicious, it didn't stand a chance against us. For our entrees we got the shrimp and crab étouffée and the French dip sandwich both were absolutely amazing. My husband swears the shrimp and crab dish sauce was the best sauce he ever had in his life. My sandwich was as good as I hoped it'd be! The onions were spot on the au jus was rich with flavor everything was so complimentary! Also they have the good fries c: the only disappointment was the chocolate molten lava cake. I've had a few in my day and they always had an oozy chocolate center, this one did not. While very dense with chocolate and accompanied with a very small (melon scooper sized) ice cream scoop, pinch of whipped cream with a chocolate syrup drizzle (very well hand done I assume by our waitress who I believe was Jordan she was a doll, very sweet) all over the dish. It was moist warm and delicious I just expected that molten lava that gives that cake its name. Otherwise overall experience was great. Food was great, atmosphere, drinks, the fireplace was nothing like I'd ever seen in my life, just a great place overall!! Date night must! read more

The food is usually pretty good and the service is usually great. The people of Oconee County have been giving their support to this restaurant for months when they were only operating a "to go" business due to the pandemic. The restaurant and Cabana has been open for awhile now and busy with curbside, to go and dine in service. So why is the restaurant charging a 6% service charge for take out orders now? They have been doing this as of August 3 and they have never charged anything for to go orders in the past. I see this as a means to make up the lost revenues due to the pandemic from those who already were helping them survive! They don't spend that much on plastic silverware or styrofoam to go containers! I believe that I will not be supporting them any longer. read more

We got here at 4:00 pm and ordered our food. We did not get our Cornbread/rolls until our meal was completed. My husband had to send his Lasagna back to kitchen because the grease was overwhelming and it was cold in the middle. 10 minutes later the waitress returned with a new plate... I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant in the middle of nowhere. We were greeted as we came in, and the server seated us quickly. We were working, so unfortunately no drinks besides water. We started with the fried green tomatoes, which came out in less than 5 minutes. These were amped up with a basalmic sauce and pimento spread. Might sound odd, but it was delicious. My coworkers had the sandwich with yet more pimento cheese and ham - they absolutely loved it. The Mahi Mahi tacos were also suggested but I decided on the special. The special was pork belly bruchetta. The pork belly was very generous, as were the greens, tomatoes and sauce. The bread was a bit too hard for a sandwich - it was very difficult to bite through. I have never had a bad experience at this venue. The staff are friendly and attentive and bend over backwards to make sure you have a pleasant dining experience. I appreciate that it is locally owned and operated and I frequent both the restaurant and the cabana locations. Arrived on Wednesday 6/26/21 at 5:30pm and was seated at our table in less than 5 minutes. They were not very busy. Took a long time to get our drinks and never received out water(We asked for water). Never got our salads and I never got my meal! They kitchen runner asked if i had ordered anything when he brought the rest of the food and I told him yes and what I had ordered. He said he would get it out quick. The waitress came back after a while and said she had been busy making salads, we said that is funny we never received our salads. We told her to forget the salads because everybody else was almost done eating there meal. I ended your eating my wife's left overs and when the waitress finally came back I told her to cancel my order and bring us the check. I had the shrimp and grits.... Stone ground grits, cheddar cheese, with Andouille-Tomato gravy scallions and sauteed shrimp. Honestly better than I expected. Quite a good meal. A friend of mine Michael Gravely had lunch at this restaurant. Upon finding a spider in his drink he made the staff aware and they act as though it was his fault. He contacted the restaurant and I was appalled to see how poor their customer service response was. They acted as though he was not the one that had the problem and that he was at some sort of an event versus lunch. What a poor reflection on this restaurant. I would not recommend it to anyone as they obviously do not care about the consumers. One word pathetic! read more

The Place The Lighthouse is located 1290 Doug Hollow Rd. Seneca, SC on Lake Keowee in South Carolina. It is accessible by car or boat and has ample parking and boat slips. Indoor and outdoor seating is available many with panoramic views of the lake. Reservations are a good idea. The Menu The Lighthouse has a nice menu with new items continually being offered and daily specials. Our group had a special sliced ribeye sandwich, Grilled teriyaki-ginger-crusted Atlantic salmon topped with ginger-citrus aioli. We also had two fish specials which were Blue Cheese Grouper - Blackened Gold grouper served on smashed sweet potatoes, balsamic-honey Brussel sprouts topped with crumbled blue cheese and roasted red pepper crème fraiche. Our entrees were very good. Ben Sheppard is the chef at the Lighthouse and always does a nice job. The Service/Experience/Value Our service was very good. We had a great dining experience overall. The Lighthouse is a wonderful getaway, it makes me feel like I'm on vacation. I enjoy eating over the teal waters of Lake Keowee on the porch or dining outside at the Cabana. Lake Keowee is beautiful & this restaurant offers a nice view while you are dining. It's very nice to also eat inside as you can dine upstairs in the Lighthouse or downstairs viewing a nice cozy fireplace. The food is tasty & offers reasonable price points. Had a wonderful dinner at the Lighthouse Restaurant! We arrived just as they opened and were seated quickly with a view of the lake. Natalie our server was so welcoming! What a sweetheart! We skipped appetizers and ordered dinner....I decided on the filet mignon w/broccoli and a side salad and blue cheese sole slaw. My sister ordered the ribeye and my husband had the crab stuffed flounder with baked potato and blue cheese cole slaw. Everything was absolutely delicious!! My steak was cooked to perfection...melted in your mouth...salad crisp and fresh. I asked them to cook my broccoli until it was soft...they did. The surprise was the blue cheese coleslaw....yum!! I went to the Lighthouse with some friends. We sat outside on their patio area because the AC inside was too cold. Soon after we arrived we were told that they have a dress code and would rather drive away guests than allow guests to choose their own comfort. They have a wide selection of draft beer, but the menu was too "yuppie" for my liking. I ended up ordering the Sicilian Lasagna. My friend asked what makes a lasagna a "Sicilian" lasagna? I never got a good answer. The staff was rude and unfriendly. I'm not going back. This place is NOT friendly for bare feet. read more

Me and a friend rode motorcycles down to the lighthouse from NC, and we arrived around noon. The greeter was friendly, and welcoming. She started to seat us in the main level dining area, but i requested to be up top for the view. This was no problem they were happy to accommodate us even as busy as they were. I ordered the fried flounder sandwich with a side of fries, and a couple beers. The food was very good, and didnt take to long to cook. The only downfall is that for the reputation of this place i figured the beer would be on draft but it was bottled, at least for most of the domestic beer. My friend ordered the french onion sandwich and he said it was good as well. I would definitely recommend this place to others. I am definitely going back! Observations: Ample parking, nice views of the lake & foothills, clean & simple dining area, friendly wait staff, typical SC menu items but executed well, nice wine and drink menu, nice dessert menu, a somewhat fine dining atmosphere. Located on a small peninsula on lake Keowee, the lighthouse offers patrons a nice view of the lake and the foothill mountains in the distance. Good simple food with friendly service in a clean atmosphere. This place has somewhat a country club or office space environment. There were patrons in suits and others were in jeans & sweatshirts, but overall casual atmosphere. This is where most of the local lake-life people go to eat (some of which are very nice and others, amusingly snobby). For me, as long as the food is good and the place is clean, I can ignore the other silliness. We were greeted by the hostess wearing a Clemson sweatshirt and taken upstairs to our table which had an excellent view. We were warmly greeted by Zoe our server who explained menu items and quickly brought our drinks and salads. The wine seemed a little corked but drinkable. The Caesar salad was freshly made and not swimming in dressing as most restaurants around here are forced to do. The house salad was also fresh and nicely presented. I ordered the fish and grits which was very good. The grilled grouper was a bit over cooked but fresh. The stone ground grits made with a proper roux, peppers and onions, made the dish for me (more like Italian polenta which is larger, tender and flavorful). We also had the wild caught Ginger Teriyaki Salmon which was fresh, tender and cooked perfectly (as Zoe asked what temp he'd prefer it) and the kitchen delivered. The salmon was served with fresh haricot verts and garlic mashed potatoes which were good. The salmon really didn't need the additional aioli sauce and was more of just a useless garnish. You will find more fried menu items here than at a fine dining restaurant but we understand that it is part of the culture in this area and you have to make the locals happy to pay the bills. Overall I'm happy we tried this place. After reading some of the reviews I was a little hesitant to eat here, but I'm glad we did and we will certainly be back! read more

We have eaten here many times in the past, and would always rate it as four stars plus. Tonight was a big disappointment. The waitress was good but the food and drink prep was horrible. Three of us ordered cocktails, and all three had to send theirs back. When it came to the food, one shrimp dish and one sandwich were served cold, I had a chicken dish (bourbon/peach) where the chicken was so small that I could cover the entire piece of chicken with three fingers (width and length). My wife had shrimp and grits and the grits were lumpy and cool. 5 out of 7 said their food was way too salty. The bread we were given was almost raw (too be fair, the cornbread was good). The 4 friends we brought who had never eaten here before told us that next time they are in town, they would prefer to go to McDonald's. read more

I stopped last week to have a snack and a beer and selected the mahi mahi fish tacos. I love fish tacos but these miss the mark. I couldn't tell if it was fish or chicken as they put so much bbq sauce or something similar on it. Absolutely no fish taste at all. I've had a sailboat on the lake for years but just had not made it up to this restaurant yet. Tonight I ordered takeout which is always a tough thing to judge being that it will never be as good as fresh in the restaurant but wow what a good meal. I had the shrimp and crab etouffe pasta and it was amazing. Actually a good number of large shrimp with nice chunks of blue crab meat. Sauce was one of the best etouffe gravy's I've ever had, right amount of spice and great flavor. Really pleased, we will be getting to go on the boat often. read more

Well let me say this. We walked right past a hostess and a manager while walking in. The restaurant looked really nice. I enjoyed the scenery while there for 5 mins. That's why they got 2 stars. So apparently they are closed from 2-4. We sat inside waiting to be seated by a hostess but no hostess arrived. We were actually greeted by another family who told us they were closed. Like how rude is that. Then while we were talking about it outside the same hostess had he audacity to say she thought we've been seated and the door should have been locked....well it wasn't and that's a lie. First TIP - Make a reservation! Seriously, it will save you two hours. I did and I still waited for 20 minutes. The view is amazing. The food and the service need help. Our server was also bar tending with two other people. Two of the four at our table did not get offered / receive a second drink. I had Blue Ridge Trout. Skin was still on the trout and it was smothered in what seemed like mushroom gravy (think Campbell). If there was supposed to be any lobster - there was not. My husband had the Almond Crusted Chicken and he admitted he would not have it again. My dad had the baby back ribs - and he would not have it again. It was VERY loud - at a table of four - you had to almost yell across the table to talk to someone. Possibly very expensive for no reason. Perhaps they had a bad night. read more
