It's a beautiful location and restaurant. Views are great. Apparently they had a restaurant "takeover" and things are not running smooth at all. We have been waiting for over an hour for our food. Then the waitress comes up and says they lost our ticket. At this point we were over, done with establishment!!! If you are going to have a job, know the job you have and do it above sub par. Not asking for perfection but know your job. The appetizers we did order were great. I can't speak for the rest of the food. Take this review and do not expect anything. We reserved the private room for my son's graduation luncheon after a friend recommended The Lighthouse. It cost $150 to reserve the room. It was nice and intimate with a window view of the lake. I wish the catering coordinator took the time to explain the details. I was not aware of a no-show fee and reaching her by phone was challenging. She did not follow up for a final count and I was so busy with travel (we live in Hawaii) and grad preparation that I forgot. Our no-show fee was $260. Our guests who were able to make it enjoyed the venue Our servers were gracious and helped us out when we needed the background music turned off so we could play a game, make speeches and I could dance the hula. We had a nice selection of a brunch menu but the food took a while to come out. My breakfast potatoes were soggy. All in all my son and our guests were happy with the food, for the time to celebrate and fellowship and the Lighthouse helped us to do that. read more

Absolutely unacceptable from start to finish. Shortly after we were seated, a glass was broken at our table. Then we waited over 40 minutes for our food, only for my fried shrimp to be raw in the center. I had already eaten part of it before realizing it wasn't cooked. Serving undercooked seafood is a serious food safety issue and completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, all the restaurant offered was to remove the shrimp from the bill and tell us how sorry they were that it happened. After everything that went wrong, that response felt completely inadequate. Between the broken glass, the long wait, the raw shrimp, and the lack of a meaningful effort to make things right, this was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. An amazing find where you wouldn't expect a 4 star restaurant. We were camping nearby with our RV Club and went looking for a place to have dinner out. When you pull up, you're impressed with the building and the view in two directions. They seated us upstairs where we had a great view of the lake. They were training a new server so we got two, both of which were very attentive. The food was excellent from the wine choices to the desserts! read more

Service was on point today and I'm digging the new menu. Ahi seared tuna was a good portion; trout was cooked and seasoned to perfection and was the high mark of our meal. The grilled shrimp were fresh and my daughter said "best shrimp she ever had". The new bar area refresh was a bit sterile for me as I liked the booths and now it's a bunch of high tops. Anyway, five stars today hopefully staff turnover has been solved. And looking forward to making this our go to spot again. read more

Came on Sunday. Had mai taus a wings and fries at the Cabana. Fries were half if what we normally get. Not double fried. Limp and mushy. Mai tais were looked up on his cell phone by the bar tender. Tart, not the normal with a dark rum floater. read more

This may have been the worst restaurant experience Ive ever had. The food took an hour and a half to be served, half was delayed an addition 20 mins if not forgotten completely and there was a leak where our party got rained on the whole meal. My college roommate and I ate here one night. It was not overly crowded when we walked in and so we asked for a table with a view of the lake. They took us upstairs to a room that looked like a church fellowship hall that had a view of the building next-door. We asked to switch tables so that we could see the lake. Luckily, they were able to accommodate us and we had a beautiful view for our meal. I wanted to order the pecan chicken, but it came with brussels sprouts that I don't care for. I asked if I could switch to something else and the server said no. I ended up with a cheeseburger,fries and coleslaw. The burger was excellent as were the fries. I don't think I would order the coleslaw again. Our server was very nice, almost flirtatious with my roommate which was a little awkward. All in all it was a good meal. read more

Food, service are not what it used to before the new owner stepped in. Our visit was a Mother's Day gift for my mother-in-law. She ordered the ribeye sandwich. It was terrible. The bread was hard to chew because it was hard. There are very few items on the buffet menu. We wanted lunch but were given the brunch menu. It was embarrassing. Nothing on the me that screamed out delicious. The service was ridiculous. It took a very long time to receive our order. Then it took a long time to receive and pay for the check. We had heard that the Lighthouse Restaurant was a great dining experience on Lake Keowee and they certainly did not disappoint. The food starting with the crab pretzel was phenomenal was just the way to our hearts. The food was fresh and expertly prepared including the "Famous Chicken" which was off the charts delicious. The seafood medley was also very tasty and fresh. The desserts from the strawberry shortcake cheesecake, crème Brûlée and Chocolate lava cake were all so amazing. To top off our dinning experience was our server who was very attentive and always there to refill drinks as soon as they were low. I would highly recommend you check them out if you're in the Lake Keowee area, as we will definitely be visiting again. read more

The food was good. Service was excellent. Located in an old lighthouse. I went with a group of ladies and were seated upstairs. There is a tiny elevator if the steep stairs are not doable for you. Felt like it was located in the middle of nowhere, but the drive was beautiful. We went at 11:30 on a Saturday. We made a reservation so we were seated upstairs once more than half of our party was there. It was much quieter upstairs than it was downstairs. We were able to order from the breakfast/brunch/lunch menu...variety of choices. Sadly, I did not take any pictures. I had the Crab Salad Sandwich. I requested fruit for my side but it was delivered with French fries. The server brought the fruit once she realized the mistake. The crab salad wasn't exactly what I was expecting. It was more minced than I thought it would be. The french fries were delicious. The fruit was pineapple and grapes. Portions were generous. This would be a fun place for a special event. The service and the scenery make it exceptional. It would be an excellent date light dinner choice. read more

Went to the Lighthouse with my daughter and her husband. The service was good and they did an excellent job on the remodel. I have been here many times since we moved to Salem last year. The food seemed completely different this time. I used to love their Deviled Eggs but they changed the recipe and they were not even close to the original. Just not as good. My daughter has celiac disease and is very sensitive to gluten. Even though she told the waitress several times, she still was glutenized. Not the waitresses fault but probably due to cross contamination in the kitchen. Overall just not as good as usual. My guess is that there may be a different chef. read more

Doesn't live up to the local reputation or it's own impression of itself. Waited nearly an hour for my dinner, then received junk. The "seared" tuna was a pathetic child's portion of not more than 5 oz, *if* even that much, with no sear. It was cold to the touch and their solution was to microwave it, which turned it into a brick. A $3 wholesale cost and they microwave it vs preparing it correctly. Outrageous pricing for their portions and service. read more

We absolutely loved our experience at the lighthouse restaurant when we vacationed in South Carolina last week! We loved the ambiance the decor the views the staff and most definitely the food! Bar: The cosmo was on the menu but they really just gave me a vodka cran (see the picture--a cosmo is usually pink and sweet). I recommend sticking to beer and wine. Food: They gave bread which is always a plus! The mac and cheese was good. The burger was ok (the bun and cheese were the best part somehow). Fettuccine looked more like mac and cheese. Broccoli was very plain. Overall, food was meh but not bad. I would give this place another shot but probably wouldn't order another cocktail! read more

Made a to go order tonight after being on the lake all day. I ordered the Cod au gratin after reading so many positive reviews. And what a fail!!! The dish didn't have all of the ingredients listed and definitely was not "au gratin" . Just 2 shrimps and one broken piece of cod slapped in a butter sauce. There wasn't any seasoning in the sauce, I had to add my own S&P, plus garlic sauce. It was not baked at all. No crusty Ritz cracker at all! My husband's wings were mediocre. Very little seasoning when I ordered the 3 spice and buffalo sauce. There wasn't any sauce at all. What a disappointment! We would've been happier ordering fried chicken from Durham's for half the price and 1/16 of the drive. read more

Always eat here when we are in Keowee. They have a great menu and food is consistently good! Have the stuffed flounder or the salmon if you like fish. Both are great! Was on vacation and visited here on a good recommendation, there were five of us and it was a Monday night...didn't seem busy. We were seated promptly and our order taken quickly, the food came out surprisingly quick. My one guest ordered the jalapeño chicken....dried out and no jalapeño. Also ordered the steak and mushroom soup...he described it as mush with warm water. I wasn't told about this till after we had left... Two burgers and a French dip...all good no complaints! I had the shrimp and grits with Tasso Ham....the best I've had ever....I've had a lot and this was by far my favorite! The downside of this meal was our server who could hardly be bothered to refill our drinks, he tried to take away our plates before we had finished...I wish I could call him out by name...but I tossed the receipt. Food was really good; I had a salad with mangoes and a lovely vinaigrette, walnuts, etc (forgot the name) with a side of blackened shrimp. YUM! My husband had a filet which I questioned (thinking this seemed more of a seafood place) but it was really tasty and my son had the salmon. I had the opportunity to take the judges for the SC Distinguished Young Women program to the Lighthouse for dinner. they were from Florida, Indiana , and NC. they were all so impressed. the atmosphere was great. we had a wonderful server who went above his duties. we had a judge who was allergic to olive oil, so he went and made sure she was safe with what she wanted to order. The food was delicious and was enjoyed by all. they all said they wish they had a place like this where they lived. I will definitely be back. read more

I had the chicken alfredo and with that said I was disappointed throughout my whole visit we got our appetizer and bread after around 30-45 minutes and the food took around an hour and a half to give us our food. The bread was very chewy and lukewarm at best. The server took a very long time to do refills and the food was also lukewarm. For the price this place is not worth it I would not recommend coming here if you want a nice warm meal read more

Such a wonderful restaurant right on the water with a nice view. The waiter Christian was friendly and accommodating. He let me know what dishes were vegetarian friendly and what could be changed to make it vegetarian. He checked in on our table and consistently filled our drinks. All the food came out in a timely manner and tasted great! The potato skins were nice and crispy and the dipping sauces were full of flavor. I got the Etouffee Risotto Bowl which came with a side of steamed broccoli. The risotto was nice and spicy and filled with flavor and the steamed broccoli was a nice touch.
