Went here for my dad's 89th birthday dinner. Being a hotel restaurant you never know how good it will be but this place didn't disappoint. Service was great, the vibe was super nice overlooking the lake. And the food was delish. I had the steak and frites and it was delish. Other at the table were really happy with their meals. This restaurant is located in Lakeside Lodge in Clemson. As I'm writing this review I realize that I didn't get the full ambiance for this restaurant. Our group of 8 was seated right inside the entrance of the restaurant and my back was to the lake side view. Therefore, I can only say I experienced a typical hotel bar restaurant vibe. Our server did a good job-even taking a minute to take a group photo for us. The brunch menu had a variety of choices. I chose the Renfrow Wings off of the Shareables Menu and a side salad. This consisted of 13 chicken wings so I had plenty of left overs. I ordered 1/2 teriyaki and 1/2 bbq. It was hard to distinguish between the two, but they were good. I need to go back and give this restaurant another try. This time I'll make sure to enjoy the view, maybe even sit outside on the patio if it's cool enough. While some people in my party would review this place at a 3 or 4, I can't help but give it 5 stars all-around ... my steak and potatoes was amazing, the beverages were on point, we didn't wait long for our food and our server was fast and attentive. For outsiders, this is a restaurant in a hotel lobby and there absolutely is NO lake view unless you sit outside in the winter (maybe if you sit outside in the summer you can see through the trees) ... so I think that heading/marketing is inaccurate. I also think they would have benefited more from making the restaurant larger and advertising it for both guests and locals ... as a guest, I loved it. If I was local? I would maybe go for a date night ... smaller and fun to people watch ... but otherwise you're going to a hotel lobby for dinner and I'm not sure that sounds appealing or cool. Disappointed for the price. I had the blackened grouper. The portion was very small and the texture was rubbery. The side salad and rice were good. I ordered an additional side of asparagus and I am glad I did or I would have left hungry. My husband ordered ribs, salad, and French fries. His portions were much more acceptable, but the quality was poor for the price. The ribs were just okay and the fries tasted like old donut grease. We will not be going back. read more

Traditions did not disappoint! The restaurant had great ambience, was clean, and tastefully decorated. My daughter and I ordered the Brussels spouts, the chicken and waffles, and the BLT salad. The chicken and waffles was absolutely amazing. The breading of the chicken was crispy and thin and seasoned to perfection, with just the right amount of salt. Meanwhile, the waffles were fluffy and sweet-- interestingly, they had some sort of caramelized layer of sugar coating the outside which turned out to be such a delicious touch. The dish as a whole was well-balanced, well-portioned, and plated beautifully. The salad was also very good. All the toppings complimented each other and were not overpowering, and the lettuce was crispy and tasted fresh. My only complaints regarding the dish overall is that the onions were unfortunately a bit soggy instead of crunchy and that the core of the lettuce was still in there which I could not eat. The Brussels sprouts were great! Very very well seasoned and cooked all the way through. They were marinated in a syrupy, sweet sauce that complimented the pieces of bacon, although it was a little too much sauce and a sizable amount was left pooled at the bottom of the dish. Finally, our server was quick and accommodating. We waited no longer than 15 minutes for our food. Definitely recommend overall. read more

Eggs Benedict and fresh fruit were nicely plated and both delicious. A HUGE half-pound burger was for my brunch companion. Really excellent quality beef on brioche bun with an egg, shredded hash browns, and hollandaise sauce. And it was cooked perfectly medium rare as ordered. Staff was friendly and pleasant from the greeter to the server. Our server knew the menu well and accurately described items and made recommendations. This was just what we needed. We wanted a relaxing lunch and this was the picture perfect spot. We ate outdoors and enjoyed the scenery and lake behind us. We split everything and enjoyed our meal. Didn't expect so much got goat cheese but happy it had so much and it was deliciously fried on the outside!! Glad the dressing was on the side. It was also great, a strawberry vinaigrette. Ended with steak and frites, the steak was over cooked but tasty, and the frites were potato wedges, I prefer shoestring fries, but it was a minor disappointment. I had the privilege of staying at the Lakeside Lodge and having dinner at Traditions on the Lake. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was subdued and not overly crowded. The football games on the TVs provided a subtle backdrop to the conversations taking place. The outside dining area was beautiful with an immaculate view but I opted for the interior dining room. I ordered the Black & Bleu Alfredo. It's the first time I've ever had Bleu cheese with Alfredo sauce and it actually was a delightful combination. If there was down side it was not having the option of a basket of bread to snack on while reading the menu. I opted out of dessert but the chocolate cake did look delicious. I'll have to find another opportunity to come back and try a few more items on the menu. read more

We both ordered the Black and Blue wrap with steak and Clemson blue cheese. My friend had the sweet potato fries as a side and they were delicious! Crispy and not over salty. I had the Brussels sprouts with bacon and a balsamic drizzle. I made sure to ask for "light" balsamic and it turned out perfect. The only criticism we had was with the size of steak tips in the wrap. They were too big so each bite had to be sliced with a knife on the plate. The flavor was great though and we will def return to try some other items on the menu. read more

We found this place by accident, thanks to Yelp! It's inside of a hotel/ condos (yes, it's both a hotel, and you can buy condo units. Interesting lol.) Andddd it's open on Sundays! Yay! We were looking for a lunch place after church, and discovered this spot. You enter through the hotel lobby entrance and immediately see the restaurant and bar and hostess stand. The outside patio is super nice and has a nice view of the lake. Inside looked cozy as well and seemed to have a nice bar and lounge. Very cool that this is open to the public. The butternut squash soup sounded delicious, and it was! A hint of sweet and topped w crème fresh and green onions. The kids menu was generous. They can pick a number of things and then many large sides, such as choosing the cheeseburger and a side of Mac and cheese (so like having two meals. My son was thrilled!) He said both were very good! And took half of each home. The French toast with strawberry compote comes with two eggs your choice of style, and two sausage Patties or bacon. We ordered bacon and we're accidentally given sausage. They immediately brought us extra bacon which was nice. Sausage was okay. Bacon was crispy and great! French toast was good but of course sweet. I ordered the steak tips salad, that was to die for!! Foodie Heaven! Steak dips were done perfectly, moist and flavorful! A bed of mixed green, crispy fried onions, candied walnuts, tomatoes, crumbled goat cheese, and your choice of dressing. I did balsamic vinaigrette. Good service. All the food was good! Fresh and good quality ingredients. Food came out quickly even though they were relatively busy. We loved the fresh air patio on the lake, and wished they had a path along the lake to walk etc. But no real access to it. We will be back and enjoy more of their food! This restaurant is inside of a resort. It is on the lake with a really great atmosphere on the patio or inside. I had the risotto and blackened shrimp, my son had the ribs and my husband ordered the steak fettuccine with balsamic. All of our meals were very good and the service was excellent. We even went back a second time and I had to get the same thing (risotto / shrimp ) because it was so good, and my husband had blackened grouper w mashed potatoes and broccoli which was incredibly tasty. Ok, I don't know where to start. The Location is perfect and not hidden. It's at the main entrance between the concierge desk and the patio area with a lakeside view. There is so much seating space. They even serve you outside - a southern treat! The food is absolutely delicious (you have to try the Granola crusted French toast with strawberry compote.) Then there's the service with a smile that is second to none. Everyone was so nice. I was, however, blessed to get Taylor each time I visited, and she is just a peach. So we stayed at the lakeside lodge this weekend while touring Clemson University. Based on 5 of us, I booked a 3BR suite. That was great. Actually, the suite was built for those looking for a week or two resort vacation. Each bedroom had a Pvt bath and in the center was a living - dining - kitchen area. Fit our needs included is the wrap around balcony. As for a resort, the service was great. The checkin staff was friendly and efficient, Kelly at the front desk was handling a lot, but with gracious southern hospitality. Always smiling! The bar staff was overwhelmed also, and did an admirable job. The bartenders (I forget her name) was also gracious and very nice. So, my take is pool too small for the number of rooms, bar & restaurant too small for the number of rooms. This is during off season - no school and no football... I can only imagine. But it worked great for us. read more

Called the restaurant before heading out to see how their availability was and we were told there was no wait. The hostess sat us down and gave us our menus and never said that they were backed up. After a 20 minute wait, and the table that was sat after us had their order taken, went to the bar to grab a drink. The Blond waitress that had time to sit down and converse with several tables in her "section' told my husband that we were not in her's and totally ignored us the entire time. So, no one came to our table after 30 minutes. Went to the hostess stand and asked if we could at least put our order in. 30 minutes later Mary Rose stopped by and said she was here to save the day. Well, another 30 minutes (total of 90) no food, no manager that ever stopped by, no Mary Rose, no nothing but the $3.00 bag of chips I purchased at the gift shop. We were past the point of starving and with a husband that needs to take medical pills, this was a disaster on a beautiful evening. Clearly there was no manager on site and they got blindsighted with beautiful weather and spring break. Communication is important to the guests - if you can't serve them in a timely manner, tell them so they can make an informed decision. The chefs can only do so much - its the front of the house that needs to be in control and clearly they totally, and I mean totally dropped the ball. We came for Saturday brunch before heading to a lacrosse game at SWU. For a southern brunch, there are a few staple items you need and you need to do them well - grits, biscuits, sausage gravy. Traditions knocked them out of the park! The grit bowl comes with cheddar grits and the perfectly crisp cubed potatoes as well as eggs, bacon and just a touch of scallions. Pleasant mix of flavors and very filling! We had to try the biscuits and sausage so we ordered a side and the biscuits were delightful and large! My husband had the pancake breakfast and the pancakes were cooked perfectly (not soggy, not overdone) - just right amount of fluffy and like your mom would make. Overall, great quality food, beautiful location, and we had wonderful service. We will come back and give the dinner menu a try for sure next time we are in town. read more
