Traveled here for a birthday lunch with my 19 year old son and 90 year old dad (Pa) and my son chose Tipsy Taco. We chose the trio of queso, salsa, and guacamole with chips as an appetizer. The three dips were each about 10 ounces to 12 ounces, so they were fairly large. Which is a good thing since it was $12.00. The chips are house made and they also were a large portion. Honestly, we could have (and should have) stopped there....because that is when things were still good, food-wise. The tacos were not very good and were significantly overpriced compared to many other local street taco places I have recently frequented. So I am comparing these tacos to recent experiences with at least three other places, all which had better tacos. My son and I tried the same taco trio - the Seoul Mate (filet mignon with Korean BBQ sauce), the Cabo Wabo (fried grouper, cabbage, chipotle mayo & pickled red onion), and the Al Pastor, all on corn tortillas. Portion size was decent. Flavors were just not working for us. The Seoul mate was sickeningly sweet and over powering. The Cabo was just not good, too much mayonnaise and it was very heavy for a fish taco. The Al Pastor wasn't bad or good, just, "Meh." My dad had a taco and enchilada combo that came with black beans and rice. He ate the taco but the rest of the stuff wasn't very good for him and the enchilada was very little meat content and a bit too spicy (which is okay for most, I understand). Lately, I have been on a real binge for tacos at least once per week. My recent experience has this menu at the bottom of the list. Plus, the tab was $50, so there are much more affordable and better food choices. The wait staff was light today, harder to get workers, I suppose. The Good: The restaurant was clean, and the friendly staff greeted us at the door. We sat at the bar to have a drink while we ordered take out and the bartender was friendly and helpful. Overall the flavors of the food, the menu variety and the freshness were good too. Lastly, the wait time was acceptable. The Bad: The bar menu advertises over 100 different kinds of tequila so we decided to try a shot of Herradurra. This tequila normally retails for between $40 & $50 for a 750 ml. bottle. Expensive but definitely not a super premium tequila. We were finished with our drinks when the food came out so we paid immediately. We were charged $9.50 for one shot of the tequila! I don't mind paying for what I order but is not a high end restaurant, it is a cross between a sports bar and an open style cafeteria. We didn't complain about the price gouging, paid with a 20% tip and left. We had a short five minute drive home and when we got there the food was cold and everything had to be reheated in the microwave. The portions were small for the price as well. The stuffed jalapenos pictured below are exactly as they were when we opened the container, nothing was altered. Two jalapenos cut in half, filled with cream cheese and sprinkled with bacon, that were not even warm for $7.00. Overall the experience was a disappointment. We won't be going back. The bottom line, there are by far better local privately owned Mexican restaurants in the area that offer superior food at better prices. read more

I think they're still fairly new and working out some kinks - I ordered the Tipsy Trio and the waitress didn't realize that not all of the salsa options could be selected so my app order went in a little late and came out at the same time as my entree. I think the price was very reasonable for the serving size of the trio but think it's interesting that they are not all three the same size (it was ok because the cheese dip was the biggest and my favorite of the three: Guacamole, Queso and Spiked Avocado Ranch dip). The guacamole was the kind that is a whipped texture instead of chunks and has only avocado, cilantro and lime juice so I feel it lacked a little in the flavor. The Avocado Ranch dip definitely has a little kick to it but was a little thinner than I expected. I ordered the Don Mignon Taco on soft flour and the #Chorizo - they were DELICIOUS but I would have loved some spicy, chunky salsa to go with them. I was pleased with their drink selection and tried a new beer I haven't had before Cerveceria Amber (Death Becomes You) which was pretty good and for dessert I had a flight of the frozen drinks: Pain-Killer, Mixed-Berry, Screw-Berry and Creamsicle ($14). read more

On my mini self care vacation wanted to to try something different. This place is a little small spot in the shopping center across from the resort. The hosts was very pleasant and I believe it was a manger who was beside him was kind and helpful. Being a first timer i inquired about what is good. The manger recommended the tacos I ordered. Dysfunction Junction. Was looking forward to some drinks and appetizers in a fun, lively setting like we've done in other locations of this franchise. We walked into a moderately filled space with fun lights and nice looking bar with TV screens showing different sporting events, but it was weird it was so quiet with No background music. The hostess sat us at table that had just been cleaned and was still wet although there were plenty of options and choices available. After drying my arms off and drying the table off with paper towels we settled in to deciding what we wanted to drink, ordering chips and salsa for a totally fair $3. The waitress was back at our table in literally less than a minute. She sat down a basket of broken chips and asked if we knew what we wanted to drink yet. We asked a couple of questions and she took our drink order. As she left we tried the chips and they weren't as described on the menu. These were cold and as already mentioned broken. She came back a few minutes later and we told her that the chips were cold and not warm and she fixed it. This time they came out nice, big warm chips like you would expect anywhere. She asked again if we decided yet what we wanted to eat for dinner and told her it would be just another minute or two. 5-6 minutes later we still didn't have our drinks and had not yet put in our dinner order. We noticed by this time that a margarita had been sitting at the bar for wait staff pickup during this time. Then several minutes later after the bartender waited on new arrivals at the bar the waitress came back to take our order. We ordered our food and asked if we could get our drinks. She went to get our drinks but my beer hadn't been poured yet. She brought my wife's margarita over although guess what, it wasn't the right margarita. My wife had said to the server no orange juice in her margarita. A few minutes later they brought the right margarita and finally my beer with our food. Wings were good, drinks were good! The attention to detail, and the wait staff including bartender and manager seemingly clueless as to creating atmosphere. Out front it says franchise opportunities available yet if I was an owner I'd be livid or ashamed of the lackluster care in which my investment was presented. Surprisingly good selection of bourbons. Had the trio appetizer. Tasty. The Dude ordered tacos for his entree. I had the filet burrito bowl. Two of his three tacos were excellent. I've been to this location and the location in Greenville (Pelham Rd) and the quality at this location is for a lack of better words inedible. This was only my second visit to this location. The first time wasn't great, and we thought it was a one off, but sadly this last trip will be our last. The meat on my boyfriend's Al pastor tasted old and was extremely dry. I got the quesabirria which is one of my favorite dishes and was really excited they added it to the menu. However, what I received was hands down the grossest rendition of this dish I've ever gotten. Dry meat, sour tasting and the jus tasted like burnt coffee. We were still hungry after picking apart the tacos that we decided to split the birria tacos. I took one bite and immediately knew something was off. Like they had cooked the pork for days in a burnt consommé. It was completely mush and inedible. My boyfriend ate it anyways because it's $14 for 3 small tacos and he hates to waste.
