The Library Restaurant building looks a little worn from the outside and is in an IND adjacent neighborhood that has seen better days. We arrived after looking up "Lunch near Airport" and this place popping with good reviews and a high TripAdvisor position. Gayle and I had a very enjoyable Lunch. The inside was bright, clean, well-appointed and spacious. Our wait person was friendly and prompt. I ordered the tomato bisque and grilled cheese special, while Gayle opted for a Patty Melt (with Fries). Both choices were delicious and just the right amount of food for me. Gayle left a fair amount of food on her plate, mostly due to a huge sandwich and lot for fries. I appreciated that this place offered beers that didn't have the word IPA in them, with my Oatmeal Stout being a great choice. Gayle went for her favorite Chardonnay preference. We both nursed our drinks and the fries as we were in no hurry to get the airport. Stopped in for a quick lunch to mark this off my to-try list. It is in a very unassuming area, with a slight funeral-home look from the parking lot. We had no trouble getting a table at 1pm on a Tuesday, the occupied tables looked like business lunches and regulars. Our server was kind and gave us space to look over the menu. We were there for lunch, so we had a lunch menu, but the prices were the same as at dinner. I had always assumed it would be a restaurant full of books, but I was disappointed in that. It does have beautiful artwork replicas of Napoleon, some with funny additions. My husband had the fish and chips, which was a decent serving with very good homemade tartar sauce. The food was adequate. The server was polite but not very attentive. The decor was not what I expected from an establishment named "the library" - the only decorations in the room we ate in were the sporting photographs hung on the walls. The paint job they were hung over was also very poorly done which led to a shabby look overall. If this was a $20 per meal sports bar I wouldn't rate my experience worthy of a negative review, but at $40+ per person I expect better food, service and ambience. Won't be returning. read more

Upon arrival, you feel the classic midwestern comfort food aura. And boy did it live up to that description. Fresh bread with a pesto olive oil tapenade that you just don't see at too many casual restaurants these days. The French onion soup was hearty and bursting with flavor. The salmon, whoa baby don't get me started. The mushroom cream sauce and spinach paired perfectly with the salmon and green beans. What a hidden gem. From the minute you walk In The decor and service are great. The ambiance is great and the overall vibe is upscale. The menu is full of great options. We started out with the wings and they were done perfectly. We both fit steaks and they were cooked well and very flavorful. Our waitress was in top of every and made sure we were well taken care of. This place has older country club vibes to it. You can tell who the regulars are as they are immediately greeted with service. We noticed our table moved much slower than everyone else's service wise. The food was good! Everything was a little spicy on the pastas but I was a fan. I've had plenty of prime rib in my day, and that is the best I've ever had. No joke! Pricey? Yep, but still worth it. REALLY damn good!

Came here as it was one of the few restaurants near our hotel by the airport. The area around the restaurant looks bleak. When you enter, it's pretty cute. The entrance looks like a library--that's where it ends. I felt like it would've been cooler if the rest of the place was decorated like a library too. There were a good amount of people coming to eat dinner. The wait was long, around 35 minutes for our food. Our group of 3 each got a ribeye. For my side, I got a Caesar salad and mashed potatoes. The ribeye had quite a bit of fat on it, but after a long travel day, it was quite good. Our server apologized several times for the wait. She was very friendly. Overall I think the Library can use a refresher in terms of looks but it's otherwise a solid spot for a hearty dinner. read more

Decided to try this place for dinner since it looked like the only niceish restaurant within walking distance of my airport hotel. It's a cool building. The themed decoration is strongest in the foyer, but the whole restaurant has a charm to it. There are a few rooms in the house which are somewhat secluded from each other, and I was in the bar area with just a handful of tables, which made the place feel less busy to me than it actually was - I was surprised at how quiet it was on a Friday night until I was leaving and saw that there were more diners in other areas of the restaurant that weren't visible from my seat. The food was pretty good. I first ordered a draft oat stout by New Holland Brewing, which was a very nice beer poured perfectly. Complimentary bread and pesto were brought out before my entree. The bread was so good - it was very soft and fresh, brushed with a flavourful herb butter. My entree was the vegan puttanesca. The dish had a good variety of vegetables all cooked well, and the marinara sauce was tasty (lots of garlic) but so brothy that I felt like I needed a spoon to eat it, but alas no spoon was provided. The waitress did offer more bread but I didn't feel hungry enough, so I declined and just tried to get as much as I could with my fork. The cheesecake with chocolate sauce for dessert was very good too - the cheesecake was rich and a little tangy but not overly dense or sweet. I appreciated that their dessert menu has both smaller and larger desserts, so I could get something from the small bites menu for just myself. I think my entree was too expensive for what it was - chickpea pasta and vegetables in marinara sauce - but the prices made more sense for the drinks, dessert, and meat/seafood entrees. The service throughout the meal was great. My waitress was attentive and very nice. She checked in often to see if I needed anything else but was also patient with me and other parties. The hostess was also pleasant. I didn't have to wait long after ordering to get my food either. Given that its located right by a handful of airport hotels, I expected more of a traveler vibe, but it seemed like the crowd was mostly locals, which actually makes sense to me after my visit. It's a really nice, kind of old-school place with good food, and it could fit the bill whether you want a casual but quality meal, or a nice night out. read more

This place sold and the menu isn't anything it used to be. Disgusting! Is it even American? Taste like someone is trying to throw some foreign twists on it. Bring back the stuffed salmon, and wedge salads and prime rib. IT's absolutely disgusting. This will not last long , it's absolutely not the same owners, can't be possible. The soup of the day today tasted like something foreign. I don't even know what it was. It simply said soup of the day on the container. We were there when they first opened. In fact, thirty minutes early for the reservation. We were admitted and seated quickly. The room decor is awesome. The seating does not do much. There were four of us who ordered. The table was far too small and cramped. There were many empty seats. Perhaps because of the early hours and the price and the available selection of entree items. Not really enough room at the table for food. The waitress was charming and kept up with everything. Bread and olive with pesto was good I asked for balsamic vinegar. Both are very fresh. The chicken parm was ok ., The prime rib was excellent had sauces on the side. Glad I did, I don't care for their Auju. Horseradish was good. Walleye excellent. Cauliflower was ok. French fries are crispy and hot. The person who ordered mushrooms did not like them at all. I tried some I did not care for them either. For dessert, we had Lemon bars were good as was the chocolate cake the Venus Delight, it was very good but tasted almost no Caramel sauce or rum. Somewhat disappointed. This is my second review of this place. I reviewed them several years ago. I feel they are not quite as good as before, but still good. Some selections are no longer on the menu that were very good then. Seems as though they have down-scaled somewhat. That being said will eat there again if I am in the area. read more

We stopped in for an early dinner to meet with a client. The restaurant offered both a happy hour menu and an early dinner menu, which was nice to have as options. We ordered the "full" shrimp appetizer for $16 (as opposed to the $8 option), and I was surprised that it only included six pieces. That felt expensive, especially for a happy hour offering. The early dinner menu itself was relatively good, but we ended up ordering from the regular menu because it had the items we wanted. I had read that the tables were smaller for parties of four, and while I'm not completely sure I agree with that, I will say the tables are very close together. The spacing made it uncomfortable, as I didn't love having to constantly say "excuse me" or worry about bumping into guests seated behind me. There seems to be enough room in the area to space tables out a bit more and reduce the crowded feeling. I will say the service was very good. However, it felt like the bar area might have benefited from an additional server, as it appeared that many guests were seated there to keep the service area compact. Despite these minor issues, this was my fourth visit, and I will continue to come back. read more

The Cajun was on point but no salt. My salmon was good. There was a lot of the cheese that they use which has a bold flavor so I didn't eat a lot of it but the flavor and cooking was spot on. Juicy salmon! The green beans were amazing although they could've used salt too. The potatoes were soooooo good. Even though I've worked in the area for 10 years, I somehow have never tried to dining room here before. I have been upstairs in a conference room for a work meeting and lunch before. They have three dining spaces downstairs and spaces upstairs that you can rent out for meetings. They also had flyers out for murder mystery dinners they host. This visit I was eating lunch with my team from work. We arrived right around 11 and there was only a few other diners. By the time we left at 12, it was pretty packed. It's very pretty inside, they have chandeliers and paintings everywhere. They have a good selection of soup, salad, and sandwiches to choose from, including vegetarian options. They also have a bar as well. I had the Buffalo chicken wrap with cole slaw. Both were delicious. My colleagues had the Philly cheesesteak and sandwich/soup combo and enjoyed them too. They were great at accommodating our substitutions too. The prices are a little on the higher side but the food is worth it. Our server was friendly and kept our drinks refilled throughout. The only issue I had was that they sat all the tables close together (probably for convenience) but I felt like everyone could hear our conversations. We typically only get 30 minutes for lunch so we won't be able to go often, but they do have online ordering for pickup which might be a good option for us. We also all loved the bowls of peppermints as you exit. I'm glad to know there's a great non-fast food option in the neighborhood! read more

Fun spot for an afternoon lunch! Server was prompt and friendly. Beautiful interior, clean and well decorated. I ordered the Waldorf salad with grilled chicken. Very full portion and delicious flavors. The steak fries were not worth an upgrade in my opinion, the regular was just fine. Ample parking around the restaurant.
