    Onion dip with waffle potatoes
    Casey A.

I stopped into the Lexington to check out their rooftop bar and have a couple apps. I really loved it up there. Perfect rooftop spot for the summer. We had the onion dip with potato waffles, and I really loved it. The fried capers and the salmon roe were nice touches. We also tried their wings and loved it. They were crispy and saucy. The service was really attentive and fast too. They're a little pricey but not outrageously. Definitely recommend!

This is a really cute spot. Really decent space size with a rooftop view. Staff was attentive and friendly. As someone with celiac I love places that have a dedicated separate fryer. Really enjoyed my gluten free sandwich and fries!

My go to place after work, I'm obsessed with these steak frites. The sauce, the butter, omg. The menu changes quite frequently (such as this burrata salad, I've had a few variations of it) but I really hope these are year round. Drinks are standard but the vibes here are genuinely beautiful and peaceful- surprisingly not extremely crowded, at least not the times I've gone. This is the best of the three connected restaurants I believe. Highly recommend!

Having tried the three restaurants in this complex, the order for me goes something like: 1. Beatrice 2. Gepetto 3. Lexington. The food was a little uneven but on the whole, quite satisfying and the service, particularly in the lead-up to Christmas, was stellar. Our waiter was wonderful. He recommended a great cocktail for me when I said I was looking for a spicy margarita but didn't see something like it on the menu. The drink was cinnamon syrup, pineapple miso, and a spicy tequila base. Delicious, way too drinkable. Would've been perfect for the summer months. We were maybe one of three tables that night but our waiter was awesome and thoroughly on top of things, and even plated my parents' to-share orders on separate plates. The Cobb was all right, portion size was smaller than if I had ordered the same thing at Beatrice downstairs. A side note: so the Cobb salad with chicken costs $16 at Lexington, while the same Cobb salad at Beatrice costs $14. Same for the chopped salad. Maybe the $2 accounts for sit-down service? In any event, I'd skip the Cobb salad next time at the Lexington and go for the prime burger, which was cooked the perfect requested temperature. Don't forget to order the flan! It was smoother and thicker than other iterations I've tried and almost had the texture of uber-whipped cheesecake. Parking: 2-hour street options right outside. Overall, much easier to find parking here than in Kendall or other parts of Cambridge.

    Crispy potatoes

I was meeting family for Saturday brunch in this new-to-me restaurant near the old Lechmere of my youth. I'm sure parking is normally an issue, but given the 22° temps outside, I snagged a free 2-hour spot on the street around the corner. When I checked in, I was informed of an HVAC issue and instead of upstairs seating, we'd be seated in the adjoining dining area of Geppetto's. The decor was on the art deco side and service was super attentive. There was always someone delivering food, clearing away empty dishes or checking back on us. There were several very interesting choices between the small plates and the mains. We each selected our entrees and shared some sides. The Belle of the Ball was the potato waffles with homemade onion dip--positively scrumptious! My niece proclaimed her side of scrambled eggs the best and creamiest ever eaten. My avocado toast with egg salad was much more substantial than I'd figured it would be as a small plate. So much so, I didn't need the side of crispy potatoes, which I would have preferred plain (no hot sauce or crema). My brother enjoyed the pulled pork hash with sunny side egg, though he'd have liked more pulled pork. A bit pricey overall (especially the cocktails) but the quality of food made me turn a blind eye. The restaurant also adds 5% as a kitchen-only service charge, which I have mixed feelings about. It's the owner /employer's obligation to pay a living wage to employees critical to their business. The consumer is paying heavily enough IMHO. But, I would come back at least a second time.

Steak and frites Tom Collins (non-alcoholic drink)

Delicious! We were satisfied with the environment, the lighting and the food was amazing. Fantastic menu, keep in mind these are large portion sizes. The onion dip with fried potato waffles were to die for. I'm restricted to Gluten free menu items and the waiter asked me about any limitations before I could even tell him. He then handed me a specialized menu made specifically with only their gluten free menu items. Additionally, they try to accommodate those who are celiac. They allowed an alteration to one of our Tom Collins drinks from ginger to vanilla. Very thankful for this. The waitstaff was very friendly it was just very confusing who was waiting on us as multiple waitstaff staff checked in and brought us food drinks and the check. We didn't feel as though we knew who was responsible for our table. Getting them to collect the check at the end to get us on our way was the most draining part of the dinner. Don't get me wrong we had an amazing time. We were just tired from a long day. Better desert menu items would be ideal! They did have one gluten free dessert which was flan. We did not get it. Definitely visit for a delicious meal and a great ambiance.

    French onion soup cheese sandwich
    My-Linh D.

It was my first time at the Lexington, and it was very beautiful. Once you enter, they tell you to go upstairs to the tables. It was a pretty small space upstairs but very intimate and you can see outside. It wasn't tall enough to see the skyline but that place generally has lights lit up. Our waiter was very funny and helped us with our order. For food we go the: 1. Bacon wrapped scallops: 4/5 that was my favorite dish of the night. The scallop was perfectly cooked and the flavors blend well with the bacon. 2: French option soup cheese sandwich: 3/5 I didn't like that as much because there was a lot of cheese on the sandwich and the French onion soup was very light. However, my partner liked it a lot! 3: Beer battered first tacos: 3/5 the ingredients were very fresh. There was more fish than batter. The only thing missing was a nice sauce to blend all the flavors together. We ended up asking for a lime because the ingredients of the taco did not harmonize well. 4: Flan: 4/5 very creamy and delicious!

    Tuna tartare
    Rosemary S.

The decor and staff were great. The restaurant id large and has a lot of outdoor balcony seating. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. I know they have a lot of seafood but the strong odor of fish throughout the room was a little unusual. Tuna tartare was suboptimal quality. Salads are small and not very filling. Cocktail menu and the crab cakes were great. This place is fine but wouldn't prioritize going.

    Jalapeño-bacon croquettes
    Bridget L.

Nice rooftop views, good for a group dinner. Limited menu with pretty standard American food. Had the onion dip, jalapeño-bacon croquettes, & fish tacos. The tacos were meh but I'm rarely impressed by tacos. Liked the dip itself but didn't like how we given normal waffle fries with the dip rather than the potato waffles I had seen in pics. The croquettes were my favorite--very cheesy with a kick of spice. Friendly and fast service.

I'm surprised to see the average rating so low! I had a fantastic time at The Lexington. To start, the space is stunning. It felt like a special experience to dine in a well decorated, light flooded space. The service was super friendly. We had a few friends who showed up late and our serve was very accommodating to that. I enjoyed my meal. The chopped salad was fresh, dressed well, and full of great flavor. I'm excited to return in the summer to enjoy the roof deck and it's stellar view.

Ambiance It's located on the second floor, don't get it confused with the coffee cafe and pasta and wine bar on the second floor. There is a hostess that welcomes you which in my case she did but she was helping another party. Luckily there was a sign and followed it to go upstairs to the bar. Wow it was clean lots of space an outdoor deck for seating windows all around. Very impressive for the space. I decided on bar seating with my guest Service Sat at the bar and the bartender was very helpful. I enjoy cognacs and usually I get them neat. This time upon the suggestion of the bartender I got the millionaire 2 cocktail and it was perfect! Highly recommend! Food Tried the chicken sandwich which was good and a large size. Fries are extra and opted not to get that. Appetizer was the shrimp cerviche. It wasn't what I expected and probably wouldn't order it again but we ate it.

The second floor roof deck is so cute. I got two cocktails and both were delicious. Service was great as well. I did also get the beef tartare and it wasn't the best, but still giving five stars nonetheless.

Went to the Lexington for the first time, nice atmosphere and good service. The ceviche was closer to cocktail shrimp and guac and was pretty bland but the burger helped save the night. The drinks were were enjoyable and the bartender was pleasant.

I'd heard Waverly had one of the better burgers around, so when a friend was visiting for Sail Boston, we made the short trip off the more traveled streets to see if it lived up to the reputation. I'm glad we did. Waverly is tucked away on a quiet side street in Charlestown, and that's part of the charm. The dining room is small, warm, and comfortably lived in. Nothing about it feels manufactured. The decor has an old soul without feeling dated, almost like it has been there longer than it actually has. Later I learned that's intentional. The restaurant takes its name from the historic Waverly House, a grand Charlestown hotel from the 1800s, and was designed to capture the feeling of the neighborhood's historic brownstones rather than chase the latest restaurant trend. The room felt like it belonged to Charlestown. Most of the people inside looked like they could walk home after dinner. That's the kind of place I always hope to find when visiting a neighborhood, somewhere that serves the people who live there first, and everyone else second. We asked for a window table, and the staff happily accommodated us. It's a small gesture, but one that made us feel welcomed instead of processed. The burger justified the trip on its own. I added the sunny-side-up egg, but the real star was the bacon-onion jam. It pulled everything together without overpowering the beef. The burger itself was tender, the sesame brioche somehow managed to hold everything together, and I appreciated the choice of Vermont white cheddar and Grillo's pickles. Those aren't flashy ingredients, they're just the right ones. Seeing Downeast Cider on tap certainly didn't hurt either. What impressed me most wasn't that Waverly was trying to reinvent the neighborhood burger. It wasn't. It simply executed it exceptionally well, with enough confidence to let good ingredients and thoughtful choices do the talking. Charlestown wouldn't just lose a burger if Waverly disappeared. It would lose one of those neighborhood places that quietly makes a neighborhood feel like itself. You come for a well executed meal, but you leave feeling like you've experienced a small piece of Charlestown. Places like that are a lot harder to replace than a good menu.

I really, really, REALLY wanted pancakes. The website said brunch goes until 3. We get there at 2:50. They said they were no longer serving brunch and they've moved to their limited menu, because brunch ends at 3. You can imagine the puzzled look on our faces when they told us it ended at 3pm but it's still 2:50pm. They said we would have been fine if we were 5 minutes earlier. Weird that 2:45 is fine but 2:50 is not. We were annoyed, to say the least. But we were hungry, we didn't know what else was around, we needed to eat, and it already took us 30 minutes to get here in an Uber. Two guys came in after us, also before 3, who were also really excited for brunch. They too were shut down. We ordered off the limited menu. It was okay. It was fine. But that's not the point. If brunch ends at 2:45, then say it ends at 2:45. Don't say it ends at 3pm and then shut people down because it secretly closes earlier. I get that you guys want to switch the kitchen over and prep for dinner, but serve the food you say you're going to serve at the time you're going to serve them. Nobody came in after us and the other party that was also in before 3, so it's not like there was some never ending rush of people trying to get brunch. I also don't recall anyone else coming in before we left probably an hour. Poor communication and poor customer service.

Huge shoutout to Eduardo, the manager, who went above and beyond to make our sisters holiday outing feel special and intentional, and to our server Paulina, who was attentive, warm, and truly wanted everything to be perfect. And it was. Let's talk ambiance first because whew. Chic. Stylish. Aesthetic on aesthetic. Even the walk to the bathroom felt curated. Ladies... the mirror alone deserves a moment. Full body selfie approved. Now the drinks. The mocktail I had was SO good. Balanced, flavorful, refreshing. I like a mocktail that has flavor and layers without being super sweet. The apps thoughhhhhh! They deserve their own paragraph because baby... The crab rangoon was TO DIE FOR. That old school wrap dough situation? I have been hunting for that exact texture and flavor forever. My fave restaurant switched dough and I haven't had a good Rangoon since then until now. It was crispy, nostalgic, and perfect. The fried egg rolls? Delicious. The pickled cucumbers? Bright and refreshing and er literally ate every drop, lol. But the WINNER... those fall off the bone ribs. I might have made a sound when I bit into them. Cooked to perfection. A full blown flavor party in my mouth. The scallion pancakes were the only thing that did not hit for me. The mix of veggies and flavors was perfection. With everything else we ordered I could not even finish it. And then... dessert. Eduardo and Paulina surprised us with a complimentary cheesecake that was so light and decadent, topped with fruit and homemade whipped cream. Next time I am absolutely saving space for that. The customer service was truly top tier. The decor, the food, the staff, the background music. Everything PERFECT. My sisters and I sat for hours. We laughed. We ate. We shared emotions.
