Crispy Rice Sushi - Ahi Tuna
    Julia T.

The tuna crispy rice was good. I def expected it to be crispier than how it came out but it was good nonetheless. Service was great. The hostess was very accommodating and helped us get a table without a rez beforehand. Very friendly. Our waitress was so sweet as well! Very attentive. The lychee martini was very good. Ambiance was nice. Def would come back!

    Steak and sushi

The atmosphere was bustling and it was busy but we sat at the bar and had a great time. Monday night football was on and the patrons were not a raucous sports crowd but it was still lively and a good place to take in a game. The steak and sushi was really good and while the crispy sushi rice bites didn't taste like they were fresh made the steak, fish and sauce was REALLY good. The bartenders were friendly and accommodating and made some terrific drinks for us as well.

    Spicy California Roll
    Steve S.

Dinner with friends here definitely went well. I was a big fan of the dumplings and truffle fries. I also got a spicy California roll which, while good, wasn't $20 good. But the atmosphere, service, and the general opinion of everyone at the table keeps it at 4 stars for me.

    Steak and sushi combo while

Another great evening at Earl's. It was busy so we sat at one of the bars. I tried the steak and sushi combo while my wife had the cold soba noodle salad. Both dishes were great, very tasty. Our bartender was awesome, told us all about the new menu and gave us a couple sample strawberry cosmo Jell-O shots, yum!!

I feel like Earl's is just "fine". It's not bad, but it's not great. The location is pretty good and it has a decent enough variety so that anyone in your party can find something they want. On my most recent visit, I was surprised by the price of my cocktail! I got a gin martini and it was over $20 - almost as much as my entree. I expect that at a steakhouse or other high-end restaurant, but Earl's is not high-end. I got the same drink across the way at Tony C's for much lower price (and it was just as good). It also seems like they got rid of the spicy tuna roll. Why serve sushi, but get ride of the most popular kind of roll?? I'll probably come back to this location for the ease, but, after last time, I may save my drinks vibes (and sushi) for another place within Assembly.

    Surf and Turf
    Mouf K.

Earl's Kitchen + Bar at Assembly Row is a great spot. Parking was easy and there's plenty to do in the area before or after your meal. I ordered the surf and turf and swapped the grilled shrimp for a crab cake -- and I'm glad I did. The crab cake was excellent, so good that next time I'll probably just order two of them. I added blackened seasoning to the filet and it was also cooked perfectly and very flavorful. Overall, a great experience with delicious food and a convenient location. I'll definitely be back!

    Truffle tortellini with steak cooked
    Alex F.

Overall theme: really good drinks, friendly staff, meh food. Extensive cocktail menu and all drinks were very well made. Ordered the calamari, avocado dip, bacon burger with truffle fries, and truffle tortellini with steak. -Calamari was very light and tasty but the portion was so small it was not worth the money. -Avocado dip was okay, the corn gave it flavor but the avocado itself needed more spices. -Bacon burger and truffle fries were great. They didn't ask how I wanted the burger cooked and it came out a little too cooked for my liking but tasted good. -Again they didn't ask how I wanted the steak cooked either and it didn't have enough pink but was flavorful. My biggest bother was that the broccoli stems in the dish weren't cooked enough so they were very hard and messed with the texture of the dish. They have huge TVs surrounding the bar area but they were all playing the same channel which was airing an old NFL game instead of the current Celtics or NFL game that were actually playing that day; should definitely be more aware of daily sports games (especially Boston sports) if you're going to have those huge TVs.

    Sushi press
    Tracy C.

We visited Earls in Somerville and ordered the salmon sushi press and pollo tacos. It is pretty dark inside with dim lighting. The food was decent, but the sushi was mostly rice with very little salmon, and the tacos barely had any chips. I've been here before and had a better experience, so this visit felt a little disappointing. Service was just okay. Overall, it didn't live up to my previous visits or expectations.

    Seafood tower
    Margaret K.

The vibes here are really nice and service was great! However the food and drinks was very mediocre for the price point. I had a passion fruit martini that tasted like just juice and their sesame noodle was so bland. The miso salmon tho was delicious. I just think for the price you pay food and drinks it needs to be up to standard. I felt like it was like "yard house" quality. The restaurant itself is super nice but not worth the $$$ for that quality. Parking is in the garage and you can get it validated for 20$ parking for up to four hours.

My experiences in restaurants HAVE to be perfect. I'm sorry, with our economy I can't spend my money anywhere. This place was almost perfect. The ambience is so cute for any setting; awkward date with parents or business happy hour. The food/desserts/MOCKTAIL options are incredible. Our server was new (but kind) She put in all our apps and dinner at once and somehow my tortellini entree was still cold. You don't see pics of dinner because we all ate it too fast lol. Would highly recommend to anyone, definitely coming back for happy hour.

    Cajun chicken

Place is a little dim, but cute. No wait time but must've been bc we went on a weekday, service was nice. Each drink and dish took its time to get to the table. Nice cocktails. Cajun chicken was seasoned well and very juicy, cooked well without needing a sauce. Came with a good potion of potato salad. Truffle steak was cooked just like I wanted, but really nothing special, not something that wowed me for being a truffle butter steak. Just tasted like reg steak. Mash potatoes were so good I just wish there was a bit more on the plate. Broccoli was burnt. Steak on the tortellini plate came cold, pasta lukewarm. Dessert was really good would recommend.

    Spicy Calabrian pasta
    Savannah H.

Delish. I want to take off points but it wouldn't be fair for removing some of the best items from the menu, and notably some of the most vegan options. Regardless tho the service is good. The vibes depend on what day you go. The spicy Calabrian pasta is heaven on earth for those who like a spicy creamy sauce. The pasta choice is unique and not easy to eat necessarily but delish. A hearty and generous portion!

Earls always treats me so good, every time I go to this specific location I always pick the bar. Started off with a Moscow mule, which is their drink of the month for only $9. It came out, chilled and particularly sweet. Then I ordered the steak frites, I love love love the salad. Followed that up with an espresso martini to pair with my cheesecake and then called it a night.

It was hard to choose one, but I got the A Perfect Circle and it was quite tasty. I'm eager to try some of their other drinks, since the cocktails were definitely the highlight of the experience for me. The dim sum portions were larger than I expected, which meant we ordered way too much food. We had the fried chicken, the cucumber salad, the shrimp, the pork wontons, the soy sauce noodles, the daikon/enoki dish (I forget the name) and the charred broccoli. There wasn't anything I didn't like, but I did find that the flavor profile seemed very similar for many of the items--it seemed like most things were topped with a generous portion of chili oil, scallions, and sesame seeds. I found that this contributed to a fairly uniform flavor experience and was getting a little weary of chili oil after several dishes. The food was also spicier than I anticipated (though to be fair, I have a low spice tolerance, so others might disagree.) I would have enjoyed some less spicy options to balance out our meal. Overall, all the food was good, though, but I think if I come back I'd get fewer items (3-4 would have been plenty for 2 people) and that might also help with everything blurring together. The service was great and our waitstaff was helpful and attentive.

We ordered quickly after perusing the (rather short) menu, most of which was either small plates and cocktails . Our first plate was the hainan chicken arancini. I really liked the contrast in textures between the crispy exterior and the tender chicken and rice mix on the inside. Overall flavour was not bad, too, but I'm not sure that it was exactly good enough to merit the price point of $18. Next was the Xi'an street noodles, which was probably my favourite dish of the meal. The noodles were very well cooked - chewy but not too soft - and I loved the sauce, with the gentle peanut aroma on top of the various spices they used. One comment was that the chilli crisp, which was tasty, was very lacking (in amount) and as a consequence the dish was really not spicy at all. Finally we had the chilli crisp buffalo chicken. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the chicken was boneless (I was expecting something more like chicken wings), which made for very clean eating :) The buffalo sauce was nice (and perhaps a bit spicier than the aforementioned chilli crisp) and the chicken itself was very rich and juicy. Portion size was quite large too and overall I was very happy with this plate. For drinks we ordered the Jaded, which was a fun matcha-themed cocktail (even the marshmallow was matcha-flavoured) and a (spirit-free) cranberry limeade, which was surprisingly refreshing and sweet. Overall a yummy meal, but definitely very expensive. I would be interested to try some more of their cocktails, which seem very creative, but I'm not sure if I would be keen to come again primarily for the food. I did love the home fries - crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and very well seasoned. The toast tasted like grocery store bread, so that was a little disappointing for the price. So to sum up: on the positive side, ambiance and service were great. Home fries were delicious. Portions were generous. On the meh side, omelette and bread were bland (plus they were no longer hot by the time they came out, so that was strange).
