Came here to watch the Pats and we had a great time. HUGE projection screen with High Def signal provided a great view. Good selection of drafts including one of my favorites, Carlsberg. The server was exceptionally nice and the food we had was very, very good. I tried the cheese dip, chicken bites and had a bowl of Irish Stew. They were all satisfying, but I loved the stew best of all. Savory and rich, nice sized chunks of lean lamb swimming in a dark broth. Heaven. Before anything else, just accept the fact that this bar is rowdy, somewhat douchey, and a place for people who just turned (or like to act) 21. Once you get over those facts, you will have a grand time. I came here with a few friends up from NYC (GASP) and we wanted to stop by Fenway at night and take in the sights. I'm not totally sure how we ended up here as I wasn't leading the group, but I was pretty hesitant at first. Once I had a drink in hand, I was less annoyed by the sloppy youngins. Many shots and beverages later, my group joined in the sloppiness. But whatever, we had a grand time. Also, they should work on cleaning up spilled beverages better (or whatever is all over their concrete) so people like me don't take a wrong step on the way to the bathroom and slip and fall like a cool kid.... read more

The Lansdowne opened up on (duh) Lansdowne Street last month. It's immediately apparent that this place is not content to blend in with the rest of the area bars. As you walk down Lansdowne, one immediately notices the black sign with flashing neon lights, evoking the feeling of a small Chicagoan theatre. There is outdoor seating that goes beyond a place to light up a butt; I would be very happy to take a group of friends here to eat outside. When you walk in, the first thing that stands out is the lack of corner-cutting that's so evident in the other area bars. Dark wood, red accents, and dim lighting give it a great lounge feel. There are several alcoves for private functions. The main bar runs the entire length of the restaurant's right side. I could see it being fairly easy to get a drink when this place really gets going, but that will be saved for an update. The tables in the place are very well spaced from each other, so you're not packed in like sardines. When you go here, check out the engraved ceiling tiles. These remind me of a pub that opened in my former stomping ground of Alexandria, VA. The owners of that place imported the tiles from their family pub in Ireland. These look very similar, and are quite pleasing to the eye. The service from my first visit was fantastic. The bartender remembered my name on the first go and didn't hesitate to introduce himself. I think service establishments really hit gold when they make you feel as if they invited you into their home, and this guy did a good job of that. When we sat to order food, the wait staff recommended the beef pot pie and the warm cheese with chips, which we went with. The beef pot pie ($12) was decent, and came with two large slices of soda bread. It was perfectly acceptable pub fare, but I wouldn't lick the plate clean. The warm cheese with chips ($6) is incredibly good and a steal at that price. The only thing I'd change is either to reduce the amount of cheese, or increase the amount of chips, as we were generous with our dipping and there was still easily half the bowl left when we ran out of chips. The Lansdowne has a full bar, but it's clear they're going for the beer offerings of a Euro-pub. If you want a stout, you have alternatives to Guiness in Beamish and Murphy's. There is also some nice Belgian and German representation. Unfortunately, they'll all cost you. A LOT. The European beers can average at around $7 - 8, and even some domestic brews will hit that mark. I don't paying a bit more for European beers, but $10 for Duvel and $7.50 for Allagash is crazy (especially when it's coming in from Maine!) While it's not a replacement, this helps ease the loss of Axis and Avalon in Fenway. read more

Methinks I'd rather eat 12 babies, covered in mayo, encrusted in dead hampster's, than ever visit this little tiny slice of heaven again. Bartenders clearly unhappy with their life choices, do not need to take it out on the patrons that are, coincidently, paying their bills. It's hard enough actually going to one of these places (had to meet friends, obvs was not my first pick), but to then wait 20 minutes for a drink that... **quick side note: ordered a black velvet, Magners & Guiness, for two people, do the math, that is the whole bottle, bitches** she clearly had NO idea how to make and then complain that we would be wasting the Magners. Really? Really. REALLY. I basically got a mess of a Guiness/Magners that tasted like, well, I'm torn between rotting flesh and fly infested rotting food. It's a tough call. Anyways, you get the pic. There are a good number of bars near Fenway Park. Some really suck. all of them fill with yahoos on game night. Once in a while I find myself in the neighborhood, though, hungry and craving a pint. If it's after 4:00, I head for the Lansdowne Pub. I've never eaten a meal here, but I've worked my way through the apps menu and never been disappointed. Last time I was there, I had a potato-hash brown something with blue cheese, it was great. Skins are also very good, and the chowder isn't bad. Beer selection isn't the best, but there are the pretty standard options of Sam's, Harpoon, and the Irish stuff. What more do you need? Decor is standard fake Irish pub, dark woods and stuff, nice TV set up though. There is outdoor seating on Lansdowne St., which is pretty cool, but only for people getting food. No drinking porch, unfortunately. The thing that sets Lansdowne from the other places around though, is the staff. They seem happy to be there, and the place has a pleasant, welcoming feel to it. The manager even walked around and greeted the few patrons at the bar when I was there. The barman was quick, efficient, and talkative. The problem with a lot of bartenders near Fenway Park is that they deal with people so excited to be drinking near the Green Monster, they can treat them like crap and get away with it. And they do. My friend decided to celebrate her birthday here last Friday night. I showed up a little after 10, no line to get in but $5 cover because there was a live cover band. They played some pretty good tunes, but were earsplittingly loud. The main issue I had was the massive amount of people. Take your worst memory from a college frat party, multiply it by five, and then cram it into a space that is not designed for dancing, mingling, or talking. Lansdowne Pub is clearly designed to be a restaurant, because of all the big blocks of furniture getting in the way, forcing wandering groups of yah-dudes and girls tottering around on their high heels to cram through narrow bottlenecks to get.... where? By the time you get past the fifth person to elbow you and spill beer in your hair, you'll be so frustrated and angry you won't remember where you were trying to go. Oh wait, now I remember. This is one of my favorite bars within walking distance and definitely makes my top 10 for Boston. I love it here. I love the cover bands, I love the people, and I love the general feel of the place. It's a fairly young crowd. As such, it can get fairly crowded and the general energy of the place is "drink a lot but not until you need to be dragged out". I always end up so happy here that I end up buying random people drinks (a happy drunken habit of mine - I figure if the worst thing I do is buy other people drinks I'm not doing bad). Another thing that feeds into this habit is how affordable drinks are there. One day there were 4 of us: three drinking vodka drinks and the other drinking bottled beer. Rounds were under $20 for stiff, decent sized drinks. I have been in love since. End of story: I always have a good time here and I will be back (frequently). read more

I got out of the bathroom and was trying to find my friends so I could get the hell out and fall into bed when I realized something. My eyes were not playing a trick on me: all of these people blend together to form one frat-tastic blob. Maybe I was just sober. I came here under the impression that there would be decent music. And one of my best friends turned 21. I will give credit where credit is due: the space is very nice and even though it was crowded, it can hold a LOT of people. There is also a bar in the back that no one thinks to go to that I SHOULD have thought to go to. But the music here was terrible. And when I asked what the hell kind of music that was my roommate turned to me and said, "it's Boston." I just nodded but I had no idea what I was nodding to. This place has the potential to be awesome so another visit and a second review are pending... but I can say that the sheer size of this place came in handy when two gross Aussies tried to ask me if I come here often. read more

The Landsdowne is awesome. First off, they have deep fried twinkies... um... yeah... amazing.... Next, the service was simply awesome. Erica was our bartender, and she provided the highest level of service one could expect. Completely attentive to our every need, Erica served our beers with a conversation and a smile. The service here was deplorable. The food was amazing and the customer service as far as safety goes was very hospitable; andre, roy, and jason were great hosts. Our server, sarah, took our order, and then disappeared. The order, in completion, was never delivered. I received my burger, however, my dining companion did not receive her food and was told that she would not. Proper management was not enforced. I think this new restaurant will be an interesting addition to Lansdowne street. Brought to you by the Lyons Group (which owns most of the businesses on Lansdowne Street), The Lansdowne is modeled to resemble an Irish pub both in decor and menu. For dinner we started by sharing the salmon cakes and mussels -- the latter of which was amazing! Apparently, heavily salted mussels cooked in a sizzling hot cast iron skillet is well known dish in Florida. I'm not sure how it tastes down South, but the Lansdowne did an amazing job with it. The salmon cakes were tasty as well -- really light, flavorful and very moist (something that I find not all restaurants can accomplish). For my entree I had the beef guinness pot pie. Rather then the traditional crust I was used to, this pot pie had a separate round disk of crust placed on top of it. While a bit untraditional, it did make breaking into the pie a bit easier and let me choose to just skip eating the top in order to be a wee bit healthier. I also liked that the crust didn't overwhelm the pie. The meat in the pie was actually really tender but there was a little less gravy then I was used to/like and it was a tiny bit saltier then I prefer. If your order a pot pie be sure to try the Irish soda bread that comes with it -- so so good!! I also sampled bits of my friends' dinners. I loved the chicken pot pie and probably would get this next time. The table split a fries with curry sauce and this was a really fun and delicious addition to the meal. I went to dinner with a UK native and she was really excited to see certain menu items from back home -- in particular the fried sausages with homemade "chips." While I personally didn't taste them, she said this heart attack on a plate was delicious. We were really tempted to try and eat dessert but we just couldn't find room. However, I'm going to have to return to try the fried mars bar or the Bailey's cream pots with homemade oatmeal cookies. The Lansdowne has a pretty nice selection of beers on tap as well as bottled and many Irish whiskeys. I wound up ordering a glass of wine and found the selection to be more then adequate and well priced considering this isn't their main focus. Their bar is actually amazing to look at as well -- it's HUGE! I was told that The Lansdowne is going to have live music and has a drop down screen that can show soccer games/baseball games. The decor is designed to look like a standard Irish pub and it does a nice job of that. Only thing I would encourage them to change is add a few lights over the bathroom mirror -- a girl's gotta do touchups sometimes! I look forward to seeing how this new restaurant fares on Lansdowne Street. Overall it's a great value with standard to low prices for this area and HUGE portions. read more

Lansdowne Street is shedding its old skin one venue at a time and gradually becoming a whole new beast. The Lansdowne Pub will be one of the most exciting transformations this year on the street (second to House of Blues). But, I for one, am happy to see Jake Ivory's gone, and for that fact alone, this new Irish pub easily takes a four-star rating. But, negative thoughts on Jake Ivory's aside, The Lansdowne Pub definitely holds it's own... For one, the food is solid. It's quality Irish-inspired comfort food with some interesting surprises. Like the sizzling skillet of mussels, for instance. The space itself, like most Lansdowne venues is quite large, but this place fits the space well and doesn't make you feel overwhelmed. Granted, the doors weren't fully opened on my first visit, but even with the Red Sox or House of Blues crowds streaming in, I think the Lansdowne will hold tight. In short, one of the most exciting things about this new Lansdowne venue is that it's not just for the screaming herds. It's a sign of new things to come on Lansdowne Street - a more homey, comfortable, quality environment, that celebrates Boston with good food and a friendly atmosphere. It will definitely be one of the pulls for locals to come down to Lansdowne in the off-season. read more

My mom and I come up to Boston every year for my birthday. It's been a tradition 7 years running now and so we like to try a new location to eat. I'm a big fan of anything Irish so we decided to take this place in for some brunch. At 11:30am on a Saturday, the place had a short wait and we got right in on the outside patio. It's a very nice set-up outside with tables and chairs right on the walkway of Lansdowne Street, giving you a nice view of the Green Monster and all the coming's and going's of the fans walking by. We started off with a really delicious drink -- I can't recall the name but it's over ice with Bailey's, Butterscotch, Kahlua and milk. AWESOME and went down very smoothly. My mom had the eggs benedict. WOW.. a HUGE plate of food, with crisp breakfast potatoes that were to die for. I had the stuffed french toast which is two slices of french toast stuffed with chocolate and bananas. Can I just tell you - it was like sex on a plate. I kid you not. It was simply amazing and I was full through til dinner. We were definitely happy campers and will return. I have to say, service was a little slow, hence the knock of one star off their review. I had to ask four times for syrup and even though they were busy, they had 4 bussers in our area cleaning off tables for turnover. But was definitely a great meal! We'll be back!! read more

So, there we were on Lansdowne St. to see Mastodon at the House of Blues. I was with my good friend Dave and had about 1 hour to kill as there were 2 opening bands for Mastodon which we didn't really care about. We were standing right in front of The Lansdowne and we looked at each other, shrugged our shoulders and went in for a beer. Right away, the staff at the door and the Hostess were very friendly and polite and pointed us onward. It was about 8 PM on a Thursday night and yep, the Red Sox were playing, so there was decent activity outside and inside. We found a couple of open seats at the bar and saddled up. The bartenders were great. They all were friendly, professional and helpful. WOW, what a concept. I forgot what it was like to actually feel like a welcomed customer! They actually looked you in the eye when they spoke to you and smiled on many occasions. (Hear that Boston Beer Works!?) We weren't really hungry so we just had a couple of pints of Sam's Red Ale, which was fresh and tasty. They seemed to have a decent selection of bottle and draft beer as well as many food offerings, so we were thinking of heading back in after the show for a bite to eat and another beer. When I mentioned we were going next door to the Mastodon concert, one of the bartenders expressed her enthusiasm and jealousy, as she was a fan. She also mentioned that a few guys from Mastodon were in earlier and could be back after the show. Post show: The Lansdowne is cranking and packed, as the Sox game had ended. There was now a cover charge as a live band was playing inside, however the staff at the door recognized us from 3 hours earlier and waved us in no charge. How cool is that? We sat at the bar and had the burger sliders and a beer. The service and food was great overall. And yes, Brent from Mastodon sat near us at the bar and had a beer. He looked moody, reflective and tired, so I just gave him a nod and thumbs up for the show which he quietly acknowledged. 5 Stars ***** for friendly staff, great food, beer selection, location and atmosphere! read more

We wanted a place to eat at before the game started, so we stopped by this place. The restaurant is very nice and didn't wait too long for a table. We waited about 10 minutes, but we were at the bar getting beers (I got Samuel Adams Summer Ale -- It's okay). They had the typical Irish pub food and I was particularly interested in the Guinness pot pie. However, I got Fish and Chips. When the food arrived, it looked really good, but at this point, everything looked good to me. I was that hungry! The fish batter was fried perfectly and tasty and they gave me a ton of chips. They also gave a side of colesaw, but that was okay. Not the best part of the meal. The dessert choices looked good, but we had to get going because one of my friends had tickets to the game. I never got a chance to experience the dueling piano bar venue that existed in this location before hand...but i am kind of glad it's gone. I like the classy irish feel of this place. Lots of space, seems even if it gets crowded you should still be able to maneuver and assemble into a circle with friends. Being there for an CMYE, I didn't get a chance to try and of the main dishes, but I did get to sample some of their appetizers. The cheese dip with the potato chips was godly. The gravy fries were steak sized and delicious. The potato skins did not look like they came pre-packaged and from the freezer. So props for all of that. Also the staff that was working was really good at handling the group. The waitress from Ohio, super friendly and really good about checking up on everyone. The staff seemed very warm and friendly. I mean, how often can you talk about Amish people, cedar point, buckeye's, etc to a server/waitress who isn't even getting you a drink (thus no tip). She's awesome and good at her job, I hope she does well there...I hate that I've forgotten her name. The side bar for private events was good sized, plenty of room to gather at the tables, or at the bar. A great beer selection, and plenty of types of booze (even at the side bar). This place should do well, though it might be on the pricier side of things (7 bucks for a jack and coke...). 4.5, probably, but I had a good time so I'll be generous. Came here for a private party on a Friday night. The back room was nice, with its own mini bar and big screen TVs. The place has a good amount of space, tons of seating, but also an area that gets cleared out to dance in when a live band is playing. Being close to Fenway (ie right across the street) and thus easily accessible via public transportation for a bar-hopping night, only makes it better. A special note: they had probably the cleanest bathrooms I've ever seen in a pub/restaurant/bar. That's a +1 star right there and shows they care about the details. Their appetizers are really, really good, too. Of note were the potato skins with bacon bits and the chicken poppers with a great spicy dip. And of course, where else can one get a fried Mars bar or a fried Twinkie? I'd definitely return again, maybe try some of their main course dishes. read more

I went to Booze for Boobies here last night (7/25). It was extremely crowded, but the bathrooms were clean, the bartenders knowledgeable and great with recommendations, and the apps in the VIP area just kept coming! Chicken nuggets, grilled cheese, deep fried mashed potatoes, loaded potato skins, etc. At some events, apps are just filled once or twice, but this was a stuff-yourself-silly extravaganza! The exposed brick was a great treat, because I wasn't expecting it to be here on this street. Bathrooms also had the same, with lots of red accents and were very clean, which pleases my germ-worrying mind. YAY! I'll have to come back to try out other drinks and menu items. (This is the first place that I've seen and tried the new Magners pear cider. Refreshing and slightly sparkling!) read more

Very Very Very College-y. With that said, I actually always have a really great time at Lansdowne when I'm in town. The drinks here are pretty cheap (remember: college students flock to this place) and the live music is usually pretty good. The bartenders are super efficient. I've never had to wait too long for a drink. They sometimes have karaoke which can be pretty fun(ny). The bathrooms are clean. In true Boston form, there are lots of TVs at the bar, so you can catch all your sports while dancing away with your friends. read more

Having only been here once for an Octoberfest Yelp event I'm not sure if I can make THAT educated an assessment of The Landsdowne, but the time I did have here was pretty damn fun! Drinks are a wee bit pricey but in line with anywhere else you'll find in the Fenway area. In the name of cool beer, I leapt at the chance to order a Chimay (to the tune of $12 bucks). Points gained for variety. Points lost for price. Atmosphere wise, the place has a solid aesthetic. I'm typically not a fan of huge open bars because they turn into loud mobs, but on the night in question we had access to the back bar which was cozy and great for providing a few minutes respite from the band/noise out front. I've yet to check out their live band karaoke, but MAJOR points for that. Otherwise great staff, decent appetizer-y food, and definitely worth another night out. read more

Sometimes I try to hate Lansdowne. They have a cover, for one thing, which usually tells me a place is where I don't want to be. And I'm over 25, so Fenway is not an area I now frequent with any regularity (okay maybe that has less to do with age and more to do with how the Sox are dead to me after the Francona fiasco). But then I go and everyone is earnestly scream-singing and dancing along to a cover band playing Lit and Blink throwbacks and the bar staff is attentive and amicable and I meet fun & friendly strangers I actually want to see again and it's incredibly easy to catch a cab home afterward. I wrestled to give this 3 or 4 stars, consider this a 3-1/2 star review. We have a fabulous server - she was a slice of awesomeness! Despite being incredibly busy took time to talk to us. Food was mixed. We ordered a number of items and ate family style. The Irish Stew was by far the best item we had. Tasty, well prepared, good size portion, nicely seasoned. We got some sausages with mustard and they were also very good, although the portion size was a bit small. We got some fish and chips (haddock) but the fish itself wasn't all that good, it seemed like it had been previously frozen. It was very well prepared and didn't taste off or smell, but it wasn't firm and flaky like haddock should be. We had a fried Twinkie out of curiosity for dessert - not for us - others may like. We also had a fried Mars bar and that was excellent. Oh, and any Irish pub that serves BOTH Guinness and Murphy's is awesome in my book. A nice room temperature Murphy's to wash this all down only improved the experience. Great place to go, certainly a great place to go before going to Fenway. read more

Bouncers extremely rude and unprofessional. They allowed all of my friends into the bar but I was refused service despite being well over the legal age. I tried to be respectful and even had a police officer verify my identification and I was still turned away and refused to be allowed to talk to any management. read more

Well, if you like drunk college students falling all over themselves and being hot messes, then this is the place for you. I want to like the Landsdowne Pub because they have live music and the bands can be decent but I just cannot do it. Every time I come here I am annoyed by drunken college students falling into me and stumbling all over themselves. I have never witnessed so many young females throwing themselvrs at guys. Oh well! But the last couple of times I went here I felt like I was at a bad frat party -- drunk college kids, beer all over the floors, hot, and nasty bathrooms. Also, it wouldn't be rare to see a fight break out. Again, not my scene! I just am not impressed. There is a cover and this is one of the last places I'd ever want to pay a cover. There is a coat check though which is convenient. If the crowd were less sloppy and 5 years older on average, I might go here more often. read more

In a town with so many Irish bars and bars that are Irish with established traditions, it might not be a daunting thing to open up a brand spanking new one. You're up against established haunts with tradition and (in some cases) deep-seated authenticity. On the other hand, you can never exactly have too many of them, and when you have a location across from Fenway, maybe you don't need tradition. To that end, the Lansdowne is quite a bit better than it really has to be. Other than the size (it's vast), and the new-car smell, its rich interior is warm and welcoming, but with the added benefit of being able to deal with huge numbers of game-day yahoos. Some friends and i went on a quiet Saturday afternoon with the Sox out of town, and were practically the only ones there, save for a band setting up for later (all clad in pink shirts). The waitstaff was, accordingly, more than attentive. Their Guinness pouring is superb, with a good head on it and fine flavor, and they've got a decent selection of local and imported beers on tap (including, at the time, Guinness' 250th anniversary brew). The menu is probably a little too 'authentic' for their own good, with traditional pub fare far outweighing American type pub fare. The pot pies and stews might not go over so well with a game day crowd headed to sit in the bleachers on a 95 degree day. On a cool Saturday with an eerie fog swallowing the Pru as we walked down the street, the chicken pot pie was delicious, and the soda bread is worth the trip by itself. Not too expensive, either. While i might say i'd be back soon, considering its location, maybe i'll wait until winter. read more

My friends and I returned to The Landsdowne, for brunch and for the annual Beer Marathon. The food was very good, especially for a sportsbar. I liked the grilled potatoes (that come with most of the dishes), the corned beef (actual slices, not grounded!), and the pancakes. The crabcakes looked good too. The Landsdowne Pie wasn't anything special though. Though we were the only ones there for food, it did take some time, but the service was good. The manager was amiable and did his best to make us all happy. On Landsdowne Street, the Landsdowne Pub serves up the best food, so if you're hungry pre-Sox game, I recommend you check it out. If you're there on a Saturday, you're in for a treat - order their Prime Rib! read more

There's a new bar to hit after you get out of the Sox game -- The Landsdowne Pub -- and it's about time. Not that there aren't several options within walking distance -- but rather the lines are too big at most of the places worth going to in the area. I went here after the walk-off win Saturday and we had no trouble getting in, even though the place was packed. It's HUGE instead. You'd never know it from the outside, but it's a cavernous pub. Very cool dark wood interiors, with a huge bar, an equally huge floor, and a stage. The cover band was pretty damn good -- especially because they weren't playing the obvious hits from the 70s and 80s. Plus, the cover charge was only $5 -- that's lower than average for live music in this area. Despite the place being mobbed, it wasn't hard to get drinks. Clearly this place knows how to staff for a Saturday night Sox game. The same cannot be said for a couple of the other big bars in the area. And if you're looking to meet people or people-watch, this is also a good place. I expect I'll return and try the food before a game sometime. read more

I don't think I have ever given Lansdowne the credit it deserves, but lastnight I brought some friends who had never been and they had an amazing time. So, credit is due. I'll start with food. First, the bar food. Its good. The chicken fingers are very yummy and the potatoe chip things that come on the side are amazing, especially while drinking. I have also been here twice for dinner with my mom, who loves this place. The service and food are always good, and its great to sit outside after getting out of a game. (its across the street from fenway) I have had the fish and chips twice and love it. My family got different things and all really enjoyed it. After dinner...the bar. I love it here. The live band is always awesome and they play great hits. Its a great vibe, everyone is just dancing around having a great time. The band takes short breaks and a dj plays, then the band comes back, its a fun switch up of music. You can also walk through to Bills Bar and dance to just a dj mix. Food was "eh", service was excellent, atmosphere was cool. There were six in our group and we were treated excellently by Fifi our waitress. The beers were great and kept coming throughout the dinner. Fifi was honest with her descriptions and opinions about different entree selections for people in our group who were debating what to order. The slider and chips were yummy appetizers (one of the people in my group could not get over how good the gravy was with the chips). My steak entree was pretty disappointing, I felt like the menu's description made it sound so much better. The sauce was not very good and the meat itself was not tasty either. I was really in the mood for steak so I was kind of bummed. The stews and potpies were enjoyed, but everything else was just forgetable. The fried twinkies were perfect: melty and crunchy deliciousness. I was extremely disappointed (again) by my Bailey's "chocolate pot" with oatmeal raisin cookies. It was chilled chocolate pudding, which (again) sounded more appetizing on the menu. It seems like a great place to grab a few drinks with friends, but I probably would go somewhere else for dinner. read more

This place has a very classy feel compared to other bars in the area. While still a decent sports bar, this place has good food and a rich atmosphere. I was shocked at how large the seating was considering it still seemed cozy. There were ample TV's for me to watch the Sox game on even though it wasn't the main focus of the bar. It was a Monday evening with a game in town and I came in during the 7th inning. By the time the game let out, the place really started to fill up and come to life. Due to it's size, when we arrived it was kind of depressing not to see anyone seated at any of the tables, but many of the tables filled up by the time we left. I really enjoyed their excellent beer selection. They have your usual stuff, but they definitely concentrate on the Irish and English beers. I didn't try any of the mixed drinks or wine. When you're at an Irish pub, it's hard to get anything but a pint. The food was scrumptious! We got some of the warm cheese dip and it was quite tasty. Since it's made with blue cheese, there is definitely a unique flavor compared to other cheese dips you get. My boyfriend also got the shepards pie and said it was delicous as well. Didn't have room for the fried twinkie or Mars bar, but will have to try it some other time. Sounds very interesting. A huge plus is the service! Our Irish waitress was extremely sweet and attentive. Call it a 3+ No dress code, low cover, reasonably priced drinks, reasonably friendly crowd. I probably wouldn't frequent here on a regular basis (being old enough to remember the original heyday of the '90s songs played by the cover band...) but if given a choice between getting dragged to Lansdowne or to most of the bars in Fanueil or near the Garden this place would win everytime 60% of the time. read more

Came in her on Sunday for brunch around 10:30 after a group of us finished the walk for brain aneurysm. My friend who organized the brunch had called a week in advance to request a space for 30 people- they said that was totally fine. She then called Friday night to let them know she wanted trays off food because they wanted to pay for it all for doing the walk- she asked if she could tell them what she wanted ahead of time and they said no just order when you get there. Fast forward to Sunday morning 30 of us show up ready to eat and they are hosting the garden club?! They shuffle us into a room in the back and none of the staff had any idea what was going on. We explained we wanted trays of food and they said they couldn't do that. Long story short we all ordered individual meals and all paid on separate checks. It was very unprofessional and my friend felt like an asshole for organizing a brunch and then making everyone pay for their own meals. The two waitresses we had did a great job under stress but the lack of communication showed and made for a stressful Environment. The food we had was good but will prob not hold a big group here again. read more

So I go to the Landsdowne Pub for the first time last Saturday, admittedly not expecting much for a sports bar in the Fenway area. We shuffle through the crowd, find a seat, and I eat the best grilled cheese sandwich on thick wheat bread in my short history of grilled cheese. Service was attentive, even for 10p on a weekend night (bravo, Landsdowne, that is quite a feat). So we pay, get some drinks, get lost in the crowd, try to check our coats, fail to check our coats since the coat check is full (WHAT) and end up hiding our coats under a bench in a dark corner and hoping to god that it's still there when we come get it later. Later, there's dancing. First, in Landsdowne ("Let's sing along to Journey as this cover band rocks out!" "Ya!") and then in Bill's Bar across the threshold (oontzoontzoontzoontzlet'sleaveoontzoontzoontzoontzWHAAAT?oontzoontz). Overall, I had a really good time, except for being pushed up against sweaty people who smelled like they just came off an 8 day camping trip. Maybe Landsdowne isn't what I'd be up for every night, but it was definitely a good time. read more

I like this place. It's fun. Probably one of my favorite places to go out to on a Friday night. There's usually a pretty long line to get in, but with the status card, you and a friend can skip the line and not pay cover either. Score. The beer list here is a little bigger than your average bar in Boston. It's a pretty small place, but they still get a lot of people inside at once. They usually have cover bands on Friday and Saturday nights. It provides a much different dancing experience, and I love it. The cover bands usualy have a ton of throwbacks in their setlist, so it's not uncommon to find everyone belting out the lyrics. I still need to hit up their $1 oysters on Tuesdays. Overall: definitely one of my go-to's in Boston! read more

I am a HUGE fan of this bar. I remember the first time I walked in, I was there to check out a band I was thinking about booking for an event. The first thing I noticed was that everyone, I mean EVERYONE was dancing. The crowd was young and fun. The service at the bar, for a crowded Friday night, was super fast and friendly. Needless to say I became a fan that night. Fast forward 8 months and I have come back many many times. I have never left disappointed. The service is always fast and friendly. The food is so good! The grilled cheese is out of this world. The drinks are cheaper than most Boston bar and they have a great beer selection. I hear they have an awesome live band karoeke on Thursday night. I plan on making it some night, just haven't yet! read more

This review is only for drinks. If you love yourself a really handsome, cherry wood bar check this place out! They have a wonderful beer selection, including my all time fave DUVEL! This also is the spot to get the sought after only poured in Boston Sam Adams Red Brick Ale. The bartenders were nice and the place was super clean. I would def. come back again before a game! read more
