Just opened around the corner so tried them out. Got brisket, hot links, polish sausage, ribs, beans and mac & cheese. All the meats were amazing. The brisket was exactly what I wanted. The ribs were fat and delicious. Both sausages were tasty. My husband is picky and specific with bbq and wanted a bit more rub, but kept eating and we'd both gladly make this a regular stop when we're lazy to cook. (Sides were a bit bland, if I'm being honest) Staff was super friendly and attentive. Hope it sticks around and does great business. Gardena Blvd needs a revival and LA Pit (along with Guiliano's) could be nice anchors to lure new, better businesses. read more

Came here because of the yelp reviews. Dining area was kind of sad and dark. Customer service was okay, didn't feel very friendly. Not much food for the price. The actual bbq ribs were good but the brisket was dry and tough. read more

I love that we have this place in Gardena! We order the Brisket sandwich combo. Brisket flavor was pretty good, it was a bit warm like it didn't come off the pit halfway way through and it was already cold. French fries were very crispy but very small portions on both of our combos. My tray made me feel like i was having school lunch a delicious one tho! Will i come back? Yes I will!! Lady who took our order was really nice. read more

Everything, I really wanted it to be good but it's just horrible. The Mac n cheese taste like Stoffers or frozen that's been heated up, the hot links taste like they are the cheap kind like Bar- S or something, the potato salad taste like it came from a package and the bbq beans taste like they came from a can. The brisket was ok at best. They definitely need to do better, this place is an insult to bbq read more

It was ok. Had a Groupon which made trying the LA Pit more affordable. Problem was that the Groupon only applied to certain products which was disappointing. Overall though, the service was amazing. Not sure if I would come back though just for the service. read more

Service, the guy brought out food and that's all he did. The had no menu to sit down and look at. We had to look at the one above his head. It is hard to decide what to get. I felt like he was rushing us because he was just standing there looking at us like hurry up. The tables were not clean we had to clean them ourselves. The was no salt or pepper or any kind BBQ sauce to add to our meal. The food was ok. I do think I will go back there. read more

Today, 8/15/25, was my first L.A. Pit experience. The pork ribs and brisket were "AWFUL! "BOTH" meats had no seasoning whatsoever, and were as "Tough!" as cheap "Leather!" The beans were canned Pork n Beans and the potatoes were cut large enough to "BAKE!!" and was not seasoned; it was "HORRIBLE!" I will "Never!!!" patronize L. A. PIT again!! Just shameful!!! read more

Not good at all not worth the price quality was not up to standard overhyped on social media

The place is unassuming, but don't let that fool you. The food more than makes up for the ambiance. The owner was really nice and helpful as well we were a first time visitor. They had just opened a week before. My husband and I ordered the 3 meat combo (pulled pork, brisket & ribs). It came with 2 sides and bread. We had baked beans, potato salad and opted for the corn bread. Everything was sooooooo delicious!! Even the BBQ sauce was awesome. I highly recommend The LA Pit!! read more

First time trying food here. I didn't personally go into the establishment since it was my husband who surprised me with dinner, but he said it was clean and that the owner and cashier were friendly and helpful when he asked for recommendations. The ribs and brisket were tasty. BBQ sauce was great! I didn't find it super sweet like other places and it had a nice spicy kick to it. Sweet beans and potato salad were good, and my son enjoyed his pulled pork sandwich. We will definitely order from them again! read more

Went there for lunch. The place is clean and the food was a lot and very delicious. Prices were a normal for this type of business . Going back real soon read more

1.The meat was little half of a hot link cut in circles. 2. Over charged for meal they give you 2 large sides trying to compensate for the amount of meat on the plate. It's a sandwich container. 3. Menu is not what it shows on plate. 4. They need to season those green beans bland. The bake bean taste like they were warm just out of the can. Very, Very disappointed. 5. "IT'S NOT WORTH SPENDING YOUR MONEY. 3 SANDWICH LIKE FOR A HOT DOG PLATES $93 PLUS DOLLARS. LOOK IN YOUR BAG BEFORE LEAVE THE ESTABLISHMENT PLEASE!!!! read more

Customer service was great, quantity of food for the price was not it to be honest. The the quality was subpar at best. This isn't smoked BBQ. It seems like everything was either baked, or boiled. There was not smoky flavor, even the Mac and cheese was bland. The best part of the meal was the Jalepeño poppers, and they weren't even that great. The restaurant was clean at least. But for the price not worth it. Over $30, plus extra for the subpar brisket that was probably cooked in a crock pot. Pulled pork looks like chicken, the beef link was bland as well. The fried seems as if they were frozen air fried Kroger brand French fries with fry seasoning. If you want some good BBQ for you money, I do NOT recommend this place. read more

First let me say the food was amazing. We had a Black History Lunch and it was difficult to find someone to meet our budget. Rish understood worked with us and when I say the food was good. Yall. Get the BRISKET!! The only negative complaint was can they put mustard in the potatoes salad. It's good. Seriously thank you for making the event great. #torranceadultschool. read more

Very good!!!!! Sides were all fire!!!!!! Brisket had the perfect bend chicken was well seasoned and tender pork ribs were delicious!!!!!! 10 outta 10 overall next time I'll try different round of sides until I've tasted them all and I'll try the links to read more

Let me start with the customer service. The owner was AWESOME! He acknowledged us when we walked in the door while he was tending to other customers. He recognized that it was our first time there so he took his time explaining his menu and making suggestions. He patiently answered our questions while we contemplated our order. We ordered the Rib Plate with Mac and cheese, potato salad, and fresh roll and the Meet the meat fries with brisket. The ribs are fall off the bone tender and yummy even without the BBQ sauce. The sauce is not too sweet with a small tang. We got the spicy BBQ sauce, but it was not as spicy as I was expecting, but just enough heat to give the meat a kick. The potato salad was definitely homemade with time, thought, and care. The meat fries were everything! First off, there was sooo much. I'm stuff still and it has been 45 mins since I ate and I only ate half of them! Super tender and flavorful brisket with the sweet, tangy, and slightly spicy sauce over crinkle fries with shredded cheese and sour cream (i didn't want the onions that come them). We will definitely be back and I am getting more Meat Fries!!!! #meatfriesaddict read more

Fantastic food with great flavor. Must try in gardena. Service was fantastic and quick. I will be a frequent flyer at this spot.

Pulled pork was dry/burnt Brisket barely had any smokiness. Dry. Bbq sauce tastes like it came out of a bottle. Mac and cheese tastes like the same thing you'd get at kfc Potato "casserole" is just mashed potatoes. Comes with one square piece of bread. Ordered an extra portion of bread for $1.80...literally got one more square piece (roughly size of the Hawaiian bread squares) Overpriced for what it is. read more

From the minute I walked in, I knew this was a place I will enjoy! Easy seating and very clean! Brisket and Turkey were Fire! The family loved the Mac and cheese and the okra on the sides. After eating here a few times, we decided to order a full roast for Thanksgiving and sides, was that a hit! Will be ordering two for preXmas dinner! I think owner was working on a large catering order but came out of kitchen and introduced himself which was a nice touch. read more

The customer service is great. The meat was really tender. The sauce is that size for the beans are great so overall, I will give this like a 8.5 out of 10. We are definitely coming back! read more

The LA Pit - Ribs, brisket, barbecue beans, and potato salad - Barbeque Near Me - Gardena, California

I don't usually leave reviews, but I feel like I have to this time. If you're on a budget, please save your money--this place is not worth it. Nothing about the food tastes authentic. It's all store-bought, and portions are tiny--you might get three little pieces of meat. I stopped by on a tonight after work because it smelled good and I didn't feel like cooking, but the food was terrible. Anyone saying it's delicious is not being honest. It's a total rip-off. The taste is so bad that the small portions almost feel like a blessing. What happened to real, original barbecue spots? The times we're living in... it's just disappointing. read more

My sandwich was good and the service was great. This place is new and still quiet. I'm looking forward to the full grand soon.

I really didn't want to give a small, new business a bad rap but I wanted to give my two cent to help it do better. The owner seems like he's trying his best but he's gonna have to compete with other places. The closest one is el pollo ala brasa around the corner. I don't even like their chicken because I think it's bland and the quality is iffy but they wood fire it and it's cheap. But about the LA pits meats. The brisket was hard like it's been out sitting for a couple of days. And you can tell because it was completely dried out on one side. Plus the meat itself is overcooked. The potato salad and green beans also tasted funky. The bread was dry. All the three items I just mentioned tasted like it was cross contaminated with some other taste which was bizarre. Even the bread. So maybe it's the cleanliness or the lack of the container they store it in?? The bbq sauce was awful as well. And had some funky taste. The beans were beyond soggy just like canned ones. I just can't seem to grasp that any of it would be made in house. There are other bbq places with super tender moist juicy meats. That's your competition. I hope the quality does get better. But I don't think I'll be returning. Wish the best for them. read more

We had LA Pit cater for an office event and it was a HIT! Everyone loved the food. BBQ was on point- Chicken, Ribs and brisket- oh so flavorful and just delicious. We will definitely use them for other office events. read more

Had Rish's pulled pork and it was amazing! Moist, flavorful, tender and great aroma! Looking forward to experiencing his other dishes!

I came by The LA Pit today after seeing it on Yelp, not realizing they weren't officially open yet. When I got there, it looked quiet, but I saw someone inside, it turned out to be the owner. I was checking the sign outside when he came out and asked if I needed anything. I told him I was hoping to try the brisket, and even though they weren't officially open yet, he invited me in and made one for me. That gesture really stood out. He didn't have to serve me, but he did, and the food was genuinely great. The brisket was tender, flavorful, and the sauce was perfectly balanced. This made me write a review lol. The owner was welcoming and easy to talk to. You can tell he really cares about what he's building. I'm looking forward to coming back once they officially open, and trying the other items on their menu. If this is the starting point, they're already heading in the right direction. I'm glad it's nearby, easily one of the best places to get your grub on! read more

A1 experience! Went in with a very specific agenda on tasting the pull pork after learning of this place from Instagram. Walked right in asked for a taste of the pull pork before buying and it was provided without hesitation and that was an instant plus! Went tried it, it was soooo tender. I have been trying to find pull pork that taste like back home in Tennessee. Although, I could've appreciated a bit more of a smokey taste, I knew I'd need to take it to the experts, my parents. We got a 3 meat plate (dbl pull pork and rib tips) with the assistance of the very accommodating staff, they helped us navigate the ordering process and simplified everything, we needed that assistance truly. Fast forward to the parental review, they BOTH really enjoyed the tenderness of the meat which was on point and they agreed the smokiness could be more aggressive however, it was tasty nonetheless, the baked beans and surprisingly the macaroni and cheese was a banger as well and the sides are plentiful. The team was welcoming and so kind, we'll be back for CERTAIN and let us say this spot is a TOTALLY RECOMMEND IT type of location!!!! read more

this was probably the worst bar b q that I have ever had. There was no meat on the ribs. The tips were so burnt and tough i could not eat them. the Cole slaw had absolutely no taste. Would never order from them again read more

Old school barbecue - not fancy, just smoky and good. The pulled pork is AMAZING. If you come, you have to get some. Green beans are also fantastic. Highly recommend. read more

The best bbq - I've ever had.... And I've had a lot!!! You don't even need the bbq sauce- it's that good!

My husband and I walked over to check out the new BBQ place, The LA Pit, that took over the spot where Ana's was. They had their soft opening over Memorial Day weekend. The inside looked much cleaner and fixed up. We spoke with the owner, Rish, who was super nice. We ordered our food to-go, but there were plenty of tables all setup with rolls of paper towels. Since this was a soft opening, only done mats and sides were available. He told us everything will be available for the Grand Opening. We tried the brisket, chicken, and a rack of pork ribs. All the meat was soft and you could eat everything with just a fork (or your hands lol). The rib meat fell off the bones. We also tried the potato salad, which was really good, too. We are looking forward to when this place will be officially open and recommend that you check it out. read more

Great new bbq spot. Got the 3 meat combo. Tender AND tasty, so good I had to come back a 2nd time.

Everything was amazingly delicious and smoked to perfection and all the sides we got like the baked beans Cole slaw and mac and cheese were all sooooooo good plus the staff is so friendly, we have been to many other places but this is our second time here and will continue to come , so if you want a happy belly come on down read more

Horrible, I just picked an order and the food is horrible. There is no bbq smoke flavor at all! I ordered a two meat plate and you should see what they gave me for $36 3 slices of brisket and 1 sliced hot link. And all salty AF!!!!! I am warning everyone do not waste your money. read more

Had a taste for bbq. Found this little gem of a place in our neighborhood. Turns out it was their soft opening. The space is clean and the owner and staff were friendly. We had the two meat combo. brisket and hot links. Mac n cheese and beans were good. Cole slaw was tasty. Not sweet yet flavorful. Bbq sauce was really good too. read more

Food was great! Service was great, both the cashier and pit master were friendly and attentive. We love BBQ and this place did not disappoint. Pork ribs were solid -- smoky, juicy, and tender. Enjoyed them dry, no sauce needed. Pulled pork was also good, a little drier, but it's coz we got the crisps, a little bbq sauce and yummm! Brisket was delicious, even my daughter loved it! Mac n cheese was good, not overly cheesy, just right. Baked beans were great too. Everything was delicious. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. Can't wait to go back, hoping to get rib tips next time! read more

Disappointed- we didn't get what we ordered thru takeout and for the price the portions were meager.

Well, definitely not what we expected... Although the owner was a real nice person, the food was no better than cafeteria food. Absolutely no flavor. The Brisket had no smoke flavor what so ever. We also tried the chicken and pork hot links and they seemed to be warmed up in an oven with absolutely no char or smoke flavor either.... the Mac and cheese was out of a box, baked beans out of a can, literally. The potato salad would make a turd, and the corn bread was so dry, it crumbled trying to pick it out of the rapper. Seriously disappointing. Absolutely no desire to return. If you want real BBQ, try Ray's BBQ in South Gate. That place is worth the drive. read more

Had the 2-meal plate with the pulled pork , hot links, fries and roll. The pulled pork flavor was great and the hot links and fries were great too. Also, had the 1-meat meal with the smoked chicken breast which had a great smoke flavor and was moist (would highly recommend). Had the coleslaw and roll which the coleslaw was very tasty too. Will definitely be coming back again soon. read more
