Probably the worst brisket I have ever had. It's low quality meat, no flavor whatsoever, dry and was fatty even though I asked for a lean sandwich. Googled good BBQ in the South Bay a s they came up with one review saying some of the best brisket he's ever had. He either has no taste buds or has never had real brisket. I don't think that brisket was smoked more than a couple hours. I do not recommend this place. A waste of 20 bucks. Nice man though but the food simply is not good. read more

The food was good. I got the Pork Ribs, which were good. They were smoky and tender. I also got the bbq beans, they had a unique flavor to them. Not your typical bbq beans. They were neither good nor bad, just different. The owner was so kind and welcoming and made the service awesome. The restaurant is a dive. So it's great for stopping in and picking up bbq to go. Absolute Trash!!!!! I came here yesterday 4-30-26 I ordered the 2 pork rib and brisket. Sides are not included and I ordered Mac and cheese and baked beans. The ribs were tuff and lacked flavor and was charred that tasted like old charcoal and the beef brisket was flavorless greasy and tuff. The beans were canned and contained some stringy brisket meat which was swimming in some kind of greasy sauce which had no flavor at all. The Mac and cheese tasted like it was made with velveeta and that's it. I also paid 4.25 for 3 inedible so called " southern corn bread" which was similar to a hush puppy and it tasted like it had been fried in old grease! I spent 36.00 for an inedible plate. I did read the reviews which made wanted to try this place and I was highly disappointed!!!!!! I will never go back and sorry I came in the first place. This is not authentic barbecue!!! read more

It was delicious!!! We had plenty of food, but there was NOTHING left over after all was said and done. The ribs were tender and flavorful, the brisket moist and buttery and the chicken was great. On the Fourth of July, I was in the mood for barbecue, having not had it in a while. Unfortunately, the two places I visited the lines were out the doors and around the corner(really). I told my husband that I would have barbecue the next day. After researching online, I found Smokin' Jonny's, which had better reviews than other options. I called to ask about beef ribs, but they didn't have any. However, the customer service was excellent, so I decided to visit the restaurant, which was nearby. To my surprise, Smokin' Jonny's was a small place on Western in Gardena. The owner had great customer service, sharing the restaurant's history and explaining the menu. I ordered for myself and my husband, and when I got home, the ribs and brisket were tender, with a barbecue sauce that added flavor without overpowering it. The potato salad was good, and the greens just needed a bit more seasoning. I think I've found my new barbecue spot. If you're ever in Gardena, please give Smokin' Jonny's a try. Everything I've had has always came out great from the pork ribs, pulled pork, brisket, mac & cheese, bbq beans. You HAVE TO try their fried corn bread! I ordered the fried cornbread, rib tips, Mac n cheese, with a small order of sliced beef. Loved the phuck out of that fried cornbread. I've never tasted anything like it. The slice beef was good and tender, my mac n cheese was ok, but I was upset over my ribs tips because usually they have some sort of bone. My tips were boneless so I gave them away. This place makes me stand by always trying hole in the wall food spots. Quality service and good food. Unfortunately, there are no tables so everything is to go. The menu was simple with your basic bbq items and sides. Which is all a bbq spot needs. And the owner I believe, Rich, said he usually has his wife helping him out but it was just him holding it down when I went. He was on his own, taking in-person orders, over the phone orders and cooking and preparing the food. Despite how busy he was, he still took the time to talk to us which I appreciated. And he was able to get our food out within 15-20 minutes. Very genuine guy. I got the Texas Plate which comes with two pork ribs, 1/2 lb of brisket and two sides. Each order also comes with 1 spicy and 1 regular bbq sauce and a slice of bread. Now the ribs were fall off the bone and had flavor. Putting extra sauce was not needed at all. I'm not a big fan of brisket so their brisket didn't really stand out to me. The little bits had A LOT of flavor which I enjoyed but for the thicker pieces, I did have to put a little extra bbq sauce on them. The two sides I decided on were the potato salad and mac and cheese. I also got 3 pcs of the fried cornbread. I got to say, the sides were the star of the show. It was my first time trying fried cornbread and the first piece was good but any more than that was a bit much for me. The cornbread itself was good but the breading was overpowering and too crunchy. Could have used more sauce(which i added later) as the pork can get feel super dry with the bread. Sausage was good, rib tips are nice & smoky. Only takeaway were the ribs.
