Golden Bowl is always a good spot. I love getting their teriyaki beef/chicken plate, it's always tasty and fresh. The portions are perfect. The food comes out fast, and the service is always friendly. Definitely my go to place.

Teriyaki Chicken Salad is so good! Soooo much lettuce, cucumber, toma, huge amount of yummy Teriyaki Chicken. Also love the Chicken and Beef Teriyaki plates. Service is always friendly and fast! Have only gotten to go thru drive thru.

Picture doesn't do it justice! I dug in before taking the photo (sorry!) the protein was soft and melted in my mouth. Whatever sauce they use is sweet and delicious !!! Portion size is great and the meal can be for 2 separate seatings in my opinion! I love the protein to rice proportion! It was 2:1 double on the meat which was great for the price. The joint has been here for awhile and they never disappoint. Great spot for a quick meal!

I have ate a golden bowl for years in the valley, but recently moved back down to Los Angeles and ordered Uber eats and was deeply disappointed by what I received. I didn't care about paying the extra three dollars for avocado, but to pay that and received the kind I did was disheartening and upsetting. As well the top layer of chicken was great but underneath all of these extra charred pieces. I was tired from work and haven't went grocery shopping so I placed an order at one of my favorite places, but definitely will not be ordering again. Restaurants do whatever they want to when you order food because once you see it, you're stuck with it.

We just bought 2 plates, one with teriyaki chicken and the other one with beef... and while I was eating my food, I bite into something supper hard, and i have to spit it out and there was a tiny stone. which now i have pain on my molar... my husband talk to the place, and they questioned that it was very rare, and yes it is rare but it really happened. Now I have to go to the dentist and see if I cracked my molar.

I got the Chicken Bowl with the avocado and fries and let me tell you its amazing.

The chicken bowl with the avocado and fries was amazing. It was all perfect and the service was excellent, they even opened up my bottle for me.

Looks like last time I came here was 2 years ago. I ordered the same thing - Large beef bowl with avocado. They have been consistent with the food. They serve the same amount of rice, beef, and avocado in the foam container for over ten years that I know of. Highly recommend eating here and always opt for the large since small and medium almost looks identical in size. Looks like they raised the prices quite a bit from 2 years ago. The large beef bowl is almost $3 more today than 2 years ago. The burger prices are up $0.50 to about a dollar more. This place is good and I will come by more often when I'm in the area.

I used to come here once a week when I went to Elco. More recently, I started to come back once in a while when I am craving teriyaki. I either get the chicken/beef combo plate or the beef teriyaki and fried shrimp. Both are delicious and it's more or less whatever you are craving that day. The plate comes with a little side salad that is always fresh and delicious. Each bowl or plate also comes with teriyaki sauce and Sriracha on the side. I also like to add not he grilled jalapeños on the side as they season them in like a lemon pepper seasoning. Also, adding on avocado makes the whole meal that much better. This is a no frills, straightforward teriyaki place but I feel they do it well and the portions are good.

This is not a large. This is like a medium in a large container.

The portion was small compared to all the other times we've gone. I ordered a large bowl to share with my kids. This is technically a medium size. I guess this is the last we're going to this golden bowl.

Consistenly delicious Japanese food, worthy of 5 stars…read more Feels like a mom and pop Japanese restaurant with tasty food. It's a small eating area with a nice rustic wooden ambience--somewhat darkened with Japanese decor. It's in the Tozai Plaza immediately east of Western Ave. There are a bunch of mostly Asian restaurants in this plaza, but you can't see them easily from the nearby streets. I have eaten the Mini Katsudon Set twice, which is a pork cutlet on rice with a sweet and savory egg included. It includes Udon as well, which is also great. I've tasted the Kalbi, macaroni salad, and house salad, and all of the food is of high quality. The help are also nice, and that's where I got the Mom and Pop vibe from. They gave me a complementary macaroni salad when I picked up my takeout order.

*** Credit cards accepted ***…read more Kotohira Restaurant is one of several old school Japanese restaurants in Gardena and the restaurant specializes in Okinawan food (Okinawa soba) and Sanuki udon. The restaurant is located in a fairly busy strip mall with other popular restaurants and drink shops located within the same mall. Renowned food critic Jonathan Gold from the Los Angeles Times wrote an article about this restaurant back in 1992 ( https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1992-07-09-fo-2127-story.html ). [Parking]: The strip mall has a big enough lot and our party had no issue finding an available spot during weekday dinner hours. [Interior]: Old school Japanese mom-and-pop dining vibe. [Menu]: The restaurant offers various combo sets with tempura, bento, udon, and seafood (unagi, salmon, grilled mackerel, etc). Their specialty dishes are Shoyu Udon and Tanuki Udon. *** Tendon Combo (assortment of fried tempura with a semi sweet sauce poured on top of rice $15.95): The fried tempura pieces were not as good as the tempura from Tendon Tempura Carlos Jr. as the combo lacked variety. The miso that came with this combo was really good. *** Overall a mediocre experience with the tempura combo that I ordered, but I sampled the udon and liked it a lot better than the tempura so I would definitely recommend getting their specialty like udon for a better experience.

The Kikouchi Soba was fantastic--nutty, earthy, and wonderfully chewy with that satisfying texture you want from properly crafted soba. It had enough character to make the noodles themselves the star of the dish, rather than simply being a vehicle for the broth or toppings. You can really appreciate the craftsmanship here. And don't sleep on the sides. The tofu was excellent--delicate, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The ginkgo nuts were another standout, adding a subtle richness and texture that paired nicely with the meal. Everything felt thoughtfully made rather than like an afterthought. Service was great, and we were able to get seated immediately for Saturday lunch, which is always a win. On the pricier side for soba, but this is one of those places where you can taste where the money went. Quality ingredients, careful preparation, and craftsmanship make it worth the splurge.

Interior is clean, simple, friendly service, and soba so good it could probably negotiate the challenges you probably will have finding parking. Parking? Well... let's just say alley parking builds character. Hot Seiro Soba + Tempura, The hot soba comes out steaming like it's clocked in for a full shift. The noodles have that perfect chew, not mushy, not stiff, just that "I trained in Japan for this" texture. Dip them into the broth and suddenly you're rethinking your taste buds in a good way. The tempura? Light, crisp, and not drowning in oil. It's the kind of tempura that makes you feel like you're eating responsibly... even though you're absolutely not. Cold Seiro Soba + Eel & Veggie Tempura, Cold soba is always a personality test. If you order it, you're either a purist or someone who enjoys refreshing noodles that slap. The eel adds that sweet-savory richness, and the veggie tempura brings the crunch. Together, they're basically the Japanese version of a buddy-cop duo. Chicken Skewers, Juicy, lightly charred, and simple, like the restaurant's way of saying, "We know you came for the soba, but here's a little something extra." Overall the Service was pleasant for a Sunday night, which is impressive considering half the customers were probably still recovering from weekend errands. Parking behind the building is... let's call it "intimate." You'll either fit or you won't. Western Ave is your safer backup plan. Consider it part of the Otafuku adventure, like a mini‑boss before the main quest. Miguel C.

The pasta I got in the Combo B was the Clam/Mushroom with Cream Sauce, which also, IMO lacked flavor. Very bland. I saw the "Pasta Carbonara" in the Yelp photos, but unfortunately, they did not have it on the menu any longer. NOTE: There are still plenty of pasta choices to pick from. Also note that any pasta you choose besides the choices noted with the combo meals will have an extra charge according to the pasta you choose.
