I really like the food, and they are always fast even though they say like it takes 30 min

Placed an order over the phone because I was craving sesame rice balls. The order was ready in ten mins (always call ahead in case they don't have some readily available). This was my first time here. They have some seating if you want to eat in the restaurant. I looked up same rice balls on yelp. Parking is scarce. There were a few people inside and 2 very busy people cookin and prepping orders. They also have little shelf of San Rio pens, key chains, cutesy stuff. 1 order of sesame balls comes with 10 pieces of mini bite sized sesame balls with red bean paste for $8.28. I'd come again but I'd order ahead. Maybe by the time I find parking my order will be ready. read more

I had a real taste for Chinese food. I started searching around for authentic Chinese food. I remember that I really liked egg foo young and hadn't had it in a long time. I found this place through Door Dash and decided to give it a try. The delivery was quick, and efficient. They used care in preparing and packaging my food. I ordered fried rice, spring rolls and egg foo young. The egg foo young was exquisite! Both my husband and I couldn't say enough good things about it. We'll be ordering from this spot again. Decent fast food Chinese restaurant in an urban shopping area. Plenty of street parking but there are a bit scary people on the street and I might opt in for delivery of I order next time. They don't seem to take Amex but if you use UberEATS, they do in that sense. Food was prepared well for the pick-up order. Even if you ring the bell on the table, they see you and don't come up while taking and laughing as a family. Not a great customer service. Still blocked for indoor seating but it looked like a lot of people do the to-go orders anyways. The Cantonese pan-fried or crispy noodles were great. I am a big fan of the soft noodles only baked a bit crispy at the bottom but this was also great! The portion is generous but the prices are a bit high so it makes sense. Looks like the smaller portion is available as lunch specials. I am still in a search for the perfect pan-fried noodles but this place is a decent option! read more

Mongolian beef, chicken chop suey, vegetable egg rolls & pot stickers are my favorites. . . But I have enjoyed the teriyaki chicken, cashew chicken, garlic chicken, beef broccoli & chow mein. I love that u get steamed rice with every entree. However, I would like more than 1 hot mustard packet and 1 sweet & sour sauce cup with an order. We had the Curry Samosa appetizer, the Garlic Shrimp lunch special and the Buffalo Wings lunch special. The lunch specials came with soup and a veggie egg roll. The samosas were miniature but tasty with the hot mustard. The taste of curry was very mild so if you're looking for a good dose of the spice - order something else. The contents of the egg roll were mushy and nondescript. I couldn't tell what I was eating although the wrap was crispy. They remind me of egg rolls purchased from a grocery store. Overall edible but probably better if they were being made fresh onsite. The garlic shrimp was the only true disappointment. There were vegetables included that I've never seen in a garlic shrimp dish. And the garlic was so overwhelming it seemed out of place with the rest of the dish. I would never try this again. We haven't tried the buffalo wings yet but how bad could they be? read more

YELP 100 CHALLENGE 2017 - PART 3: 84/100 My first choice for cheap, hole-in-a-wall Chinese food was closed, so I ended up here. (I was in the mood. What can I say.) Found street parking across the street. Their window sign says they have parking available at the back available, though. (Good to know!) Hole in a wall: sorta...? (Leaning more toward a YES on that.) Cheap: not so much. After going through the menu, I decided on a half order of garlic shrimp to-go. A little under ten bucks. Not exactly (or even close to) a hole-in-a-wall bargain, but no biggie. "10 minutes." Made to order. I like that. Got home and sure enough, that order was hot, hot, HOT! Opened up the packaging and it looked like plenty of food. Lots of fresh vegetables. Seasoning was better than good. And the sauce was delicious with the rice. The only downside? Not a lotta shrimp. 6 or 7 small pieces, at most. Delicious, but I've definitely had better. 2.75 stars. But I'm curious enough to come back. Might try something off their lunch specials. I ordered the Kung pao and the chicken chow mein. The chicken in both dishes tasted really bland and under cooked. The Kung pao chicken had a weird chemical taste.. The chicken chow mein would have been decent without the chicken. The delivery came really fast, and they have generous amounts of napkins, hot sauces, and fortune cookies :) I don't think I'll be ordering from them again though :( read more

Our favorite spot! Great food and great service! We order delivery often and they never disappoint!

Been ordering take out for years, but just recently tried their party trays for a family event. The half trays are what I would consider a full tray, super generous portions. Got the orange chicken, kung pao chicken, beef & broccoli, chow mein, fried rice, and vegetarian egg rolls. Same great quality, everyone loved it. Had plenty left overs and everyone was thrilled to take some home. When I came to pick up the trays, had my two small kids with me and the owners not only helped me to my car with everything, but made sure the kids got into the car safely. Fantastic food, caring owners, great experience. Love this place!!! read more

I like No. 1 Chef! Their menu arrived in the mail earlier this week and my husband knew I was craving Mu Shu Pork, so he suggested that have dinner at No. 1 Chef. We ordered: Fried Cream Cheese Wontons with Imitation Crab Meat (#38) - I love cream cheese wontons. These were a TINY bit sweet so I was wondering if maybe they added a little bit of sugar to the wontons. I prefer it without the sweetness, but I still enjoyed it (and ate it all). Mu Shu Pork (#65) - Love it! The interesting part is that there was no hoisin sauce on the side. I think a little hoisin was added while cooking so the flavor was there. I actually prefer it this way! It was served with four pancakes. Chicken with Mixed Vegetables (#69) - This is off the "Weight Watchers" section of the menu, These dishes are steamed with no salt, starch, oil, or sugar added. You have a choice of a white sauce, brown sauce, sweet-sour sauce, or kung-pao sauce served on the side. They serve it with steamed rice, and you also have the option of ordering brown rice! This dish was very good. Portions are large - both dishes made fantastic leftovers. The restaurant itself is very plain. I think it's more of a takeout/delivery place. We did eat in and everyone there was very, very nice and polite. They have a sign that says the minimum charge to the credit card is $6, and they will deliver with a minimum order of $10. I am looking forward to trying more of their dishes! ----------------------- 4/2/2013 Update - I ordered the Mu Shu Pork for delivery last week and they included the hoisin sauce on the side! My co worker and I went on yelp to read the reviews on this place. It Looked promising. I ordered the sesame chicken and steamed white rice with chicken fried wontons. The chicken and wontons were OK. Nothing too exciting. Rice was blah... Also they forgot my fried rice even though we paid extra for it. My co worker ordered the honey walnut shrimp and she really liked it. My boss had sweet and sour soup and also really enjoyed it. Lemon chicken was not good. We've ordered for delivery 4 times in the past 6 months, but yesterday was probably the last time due to everything being subpar. Generally I find the dishes here to be overcooked and underseasoned, but edible. Yesterday, though: 1. Veg chow fun had a decent amount of vegetables but the noodles were mushy. 2. honey walnut shrimp was awful! The shrimp was very small, overbattered and cooked hard as marbles. Half the container was filled with American broccoli, which was near raw. Too much mayo in the sauce and the whole dish was sweeter than a box of See's candy. 3. Combo fried rice actually tasted good, but again the shrimp (2 in the whole dish) were hard and the beef was a sickly gray color. First time in a while we tossed leftovers (and there were a lot). IDK, the menu is big and we may just be ordering the wrong things. I would stay away from anything with shrimp -- always small and overcooked. Chow mein, chow fun and wonton soup could be OK if they'd stop overboiling the noodles/dumplings to the point of disintegration. On the plus side, delivery is always fast and the food is hot. They do offer half portions on most entrees. One dish I can recommend is chicken with vegetables, which we've ordeed a couple of times. read more

The driver didn't follow the instructions in the GrubHub app. I had specifically requested the driver to show up on time, per the app's expected delivery time. Instead, he showed up about 20 minutes early. While some people welcome this, I was at WalMart down the street. Knowing I had to briefly grocery shop, I had requested the restaurant uphold GrubHub's expected time. Arriving early caused him to call me three times and another call from the front desk at the hotel. The driver said that he was the manager, so if he is unable to follow directions per the customer's request, what does that say about his staff? Everything was bland. I have no other words. The beef chow fun was a far cry from Jade Cafe in Sugar Land, TX, which tastes JUST LIKE char kuey teow in Malaysia. The pot stickers were full of meat, but that's it. I am not even sure if the meat was beef or pork. The egg rolls were just ok, but nothing memorable. I took a few bites of each item ordered and decided the microwaveable soup from WalMart was more flavorful. Would I order from here again? All front parking was full so I parked in the red (I know I shouldn't), the lady taking my order was nice enough to bring my food outside to me. Order from here through Grub Hub yesterday for lunch - it came FAST. Ordered around 1pm and it came at 1:25! I got garlic chicken with broccoli and brown rice. I love the trays they come in - much better than generic styrofoam containers. Easy to reheat the leftovers. My friend got orange chicken - it was a little too sweet and not "saucy" enough but still good. This will be our "go-to" Chinese delivery from now on. Very pleased! read more

I have definitely found my favorite Chinese restaurant around me. I've been ordering from this place for a couple years now and somethings are really great and others I just wont order again. So last night everything o ordered was wonderful!! Kung Lao shrimp big shrimp cooked to perfection everything spices great! Cashew chicken flavorful awesome! I love that you put water chestnuts in everything. Beef and broccoli the beef was so tender and tasty! Food came before expected and really good! Other places around are bland and tasteless but not this place! My kid loved the orange chicken it was really cooked right! My first time ordering delivery takeout from number one Chef. It was really fresh and delicious will be ordering again . We had 1/2 order of Shrimp and Broccoli and came with a small order of white rice and 1/2 order of orange chicken, that also came with white rice. My favorite was the shrimp fried rice with a generous portion of well seasoned shrimp. 2 kids and 1 adult shared this order and we still had left overs. When the younger folks work at this restaurant, there is more understanding. The older people do not understand English. I have ordered here before, but I will never order here again. She blamed me for the mis-order. All I wanted was an order of sesame balls and a little order of sweet sour sauce for the crispy noodles (already received) that come with the order of tofu veggie soup I had ordered today and was sending someone back to pick up the rest of the order. My son went back for the sweet sour sauce and the sesame balls. They charged him for another order of crispy noodles (which are not good and I can make at home). $2.00 for a tiny 2 oz sweet sour sauce!!! I didn't mind paying for the sesame balls but to pay $2.00 for the little 2 oz cup of sweet sour sauce was ridiculous! My mom passed away and we were using this place but never again! The lady who answered the phone today said she was too busy and to call back (the last thing you need when a family member has passed away). The order I received was totally different than the same order I received two days ago. On Friday, I got the same order and did not get what I received today. The lady today had the nerve to blame us! Maybe people in Gardena can deal with this kind of bad service and rude mentality, but there are too many other places that provide the same food and want our business. It is too bad that the "kids" were not working. They would have rectified the issue. This lady was rude. Do folks think we owe them a living? The food was excellent! We were in the mood for Chinese and decided to give No. 1 Chef a try because it was close to where we were conducting our business. The location is definitely a "hole-in-he-wall"; however, it is a hidden gem when it comes to the food. We ordered take-out: Chicken Chop Suey, Mongolian Beef, Shrimp Fried Rice, Kung Pao Chicken, Wonton Soup, and egg rolls. The food quality was excellent, the portions were generous, and the prices are reasonable. Our food was prepared in a timely manner and was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant.
