One of the few places open for Xmas eve! We stopped in, were seated immediately and server had great recommendations. Awesome buttered rum hot drinks to start. We got the ribeye, chicken pot pie and beef roast. Everything was delicious except the chicken pot pie even though it came recommended. The chicken was cubed and tasted fake and they put a really thick creamy sauce. Wish I had gotten the beef stew instead. Portions are huge!! We dined here one evening during the MLK weekend and had a great experience. Even during the pandemic, they've managed to maintain a warm friendly vibe (while taking all necessary and state mandated precautions). Our server was really nice and took great care of us throughout the meal. We ordered the award winning chicken wings and the pretzels with the beer dip. The chicken wings were great, not sure if I would rate them among the best I've ever had but they were definitely what we needed after a day of skiing. The pretzels which I believe were from the bakery next door were perfect (mental note to visit the bakery next time we're in Ludlow) and the accompanying cheese dip was delicious as well. I don't know why some Yelpers hate on this place so much; it deserves better than an average 3 star rating; I went twice in one day after a day of skiing at Okemo. *Swung in around 4 after leaving a great bluebird day on the slopes; wife and I immediately found bar seats, wasn't too crowded just yet, unlike The Loft at the base of Okemo where the line was out the door; no thanks, I'm not 21 anymore. *Bartender, who I would later learn was Tyler, was very prompt with menus and pours a great draft beer. Their selection is really good; great mix of IPA's, stouts, pales. Many are local to VT which I appreciated. *Got the chicken wings (buffalo); I can see why this place won an award for these; they were moist (sorry ladies, I know you hate that word), meaty, and the sauce won't knock your socks off. Just the right amount of heat. They have a habenero sauce though too for those who want even more heat. *After checking into our hotel and relaxing for a bit, we debated dinner; we'd seen burgers on Killarney's menu, so off we went. Again, we weren't disappointed. Verbacon burger is where it's at; literally one of the better burgers I've had in the last few years and I eat a lot of burgers. Cooked perfectly, bun was on point, plenty of bacon, meat terrific. So good. Fries stayed hot forever too; how do they do that?! *Vibe in here is super chill and relaxed; you just feel comfortable here. Passed by this place a few times while visiting Ludlow. My boyfriend and I decided to come here for lunch today. A waitress greeted us as we walked in, but wandered off. A guy jumped in and seated us (later saw him behind the bar, so I guess he was the bartender - nice fellow). Loved the decor! It has a warm feeling to it. I was tempted to drink a black & tan, but thought better of it (I'm a lightweight with alcohol and was driving). So, we ordered our food and drinks. My boyfriend was pleasantly surprised that they had iced tea. We're from Texas, so we're used to every restaurant having iced tea, but up in Vermont, it's been a challenge for us to find restaurants that have it. He ordered the Irish BLT, while I had the Sausage with peppers & onions on a roll. The fries were hot and crispy and there was no shortage of them. I ended up leaving most of my roll on the plate because my meal filled me up. My boyfriend enjoyed his BLT. His only complaint? "Needs mayo." I'd like to visit Vermont again. I have been here twice, once for lunch and once for dinner, lunch was nice, it seemed like they were underprepared for larger groups, but that might not have been their fault. My family, 5 people total had an easy time getting seated. The service at lunch was great and our waitress was more than willing to talk to us and recommend options. The food was overall pretty good. Wings were a bit over hyped but were still good. Dinner was basically the same only the pretzels weren't good and the waitress this time was more curt and got the wing order wrong, however my Dad might have confused her with which ones we were ordering so take that with a grain of salt. Overall everything was really nice and good. Definitely recommend looking at the special's menu first before the normal menu. My mother got a duck dish that I wish I had seen and gotten instead of the steak I got. Steak was still very good, though the potatoes were strangely subpar to what I am used to. This place is EXCELLENT. Great bar thats fully stocked, completed with a St. Patty's day count down. The food is cooked well, keeping my ski/snowboard friends coming back for 2 years. We've had and enjoyed the entire menu, including the hot dog challenge. The hot dog challenge is an 8oz hotdog, ALOT ALOT of fries, and everything topped with chilli, cheese, kraut, chillies, etc. once the plates get there the manager makes an announcement that you'll be attempting the challenge, then stating that no one has ever completed it. Once the plates got there I had already called it quits and just enjoyed the delicious hot dog. Oh, did I mention it comes with a diet coke and you have to finish it in 30 mins? This place is right when you enter the Okemo ski resort, making it the ultimate stop in the area! Waitresses and hosts are friendly. The manager even came around to talk to us a few times. One of the few places in Ludlow open past 9 pm in the summer (can't speak for ski season), so we stopped for dinner while passing through on a Thursday night... Atmosphere: The pub was packed with locals, which is always a good sign. Very friendly crowd: We were even invited to play when they set up for Bingo Night. A little dark but didn't feel dirty, just very rustic/pub. Service: Derek was motion-sick so we opted to sit in the dining room, but eventually moved to the pub since we were the only ones back there and there was only one waitress on duty (not a fan of being inconvenient or inconvenienced). She was very nice and helpful, just over-stretched. Food: Very good buffalo wings! They had sold out of fish & chips (which again I take as a good sign; waitress said it's their most popular dish) but our entree salads were good alternate choices: Derek liked the unique Caesar dressing, and my Irish cob was tasty too but its chicken a bit salty for me. On waitress' recommendation, opt out of their "cob dressing." Discovered Wolaver's summer seasonal: Wildflower Wheat. LOVE!!!!! Overall, I think the healthy presence of locals is the best review. Pork chops that were one of the specials were terrible and the vegetables served with the pork chop were raw. The mashed potatoes were cold and not tasty. I popped in, got the clam chowder, wings, and a BLT- and I have been dying to come back ever since. The honey wings are, for sure, worth the four+ hour drive to get there. We have been here many times. There are really good dishes... and very poor. Burgers, fish n chips and shepherds pie are great. Bangers and mash and corned beef and cabbage ... not so much. I had the corned beef and cabbage last night. It was AWFUL!! No flavor. It tasted like they boiled the beef, carrots, potatoes and cabbage separately and then just put them on the plate with a layer of mustard on the beef. For an Irish Pub it was truly disappointing. Now I'm a pretty good cook but I will tell you MY corned beef and cabbage is MUCH better... and I'm Italian!!. Came back again with friends on Thursday night. Now I know what to order. Started off with chicken wings. REALLY good! Then I had Shepherds Pie, my wife had Fish and Chips as did our two friends. It was all excellent! The service was terrible. Went in with three girlfriends for a birthday celebration. We just wanted to have a glass of wine before we moved on to our dinner reservations at another restaurant. I asked several times to please have a napkin to wipe down the bar because there was spilled ketchup everywhere my girlfriend went to the bar to try to order a Drinks we just wanted glasses of wine and the bartender purposely ignored her kept walking by her three times. Finally a waitress came and took her order. We sat there for over 25 minutes and watched people walking in way after us several people and got served their drinks. At the bar right away we sat we waited we waited finally we got up to leave never got served waitress never came back. I walked up to the hostess and said to her FYI we never got served. We are leaving and she literally said what do you want me to do about it I'm just the hostess!!! maybe you could pass it along to your manager maybe you could give a crap or apologize and go get a manager ??? it was legit! as 34 year old ethnically Irish male who grew up in the suburbs of Boston im highly critical of pubs, but this one didn't disappoint. I'm very confident in stating its the best Irish Pub outside of Massachusetts. They serve many traditional irish dishes, including colcannon which is so hard to find. But most importantly they use real potatoes and actually mash them so you actually get beautiful lumpy potatoes not so ridiculous whipped paste they try to pass off as mashed potatoes. Now why after that glowing review did they get 4 stars instead of 5. well first my table was wobbly and that's a huge pet peeve of mine. We then ordered a round of beers and drinks that took FOREVER to come and then my friend's beer was incorrect. So now I'm half-way done with my beer before his new one arrives. We've driven by this place for years on our usual trips between CT and VT. We finally had time to stop in the day after Thanksgiving. They're usually closed for lunch on Fridays but we were happy to find they were open the day after Thanksgiving. We (me, my husband, and 9 year old) sat in the bar area. We loved the decor and the Irish music playing. Seemed like we were back in Dublin! They were setting up live music which we wished we could have stayed for. They do have a kids menu but my son ordered the wings since they won an award for them. They're the breaded and fried type and were very good! Plenty of beer choices to wash it down with (for my husband, no my son). I was impressed with the wine selection for a Pub. I ordered a wine on special from France and it was delicious. For entrees we decided on the chicken sandwich and fries. The chicken was tender and the roll it was on was very good, but the chicken lacked flavor even with the aioli. However there are plenty of other entrees to choose from and we hope to stop in again sometime on our way through. We have to get back there at least for a Guinness and live music. read more

They collect patches of different public safety and first response agencies and display them behind the bar. They offer some of the best wings in the area, along with good traditional Irish food. The only thing that is undesirable about this establishment is the fact that they will close whenever they want to if they feel like they aren't getting enough business.
