Buffalo Chicken Tenders

BUFFALO CHICKEN SZN!! We've got the og Buffalo chicken tendies from the East coast. Not sure what sauce this establishment uses but definitely could not eat without some tasty cool down ranch. These were blazing and ready to be chomped by the wing god herself. Not anything too memorable other than the pungent taste of these wing baddies. However, am a wuss for not being able to eat all of these by myself, but what kind of wing god experience would it be if you can't share 'em with your Buffalo loving friends!!!****************************************************** Texture: 7 Flavor: 8 Crispy: N/A Spicyness: 9 Smell: 8.5 Amount of suace: 8.5 Appearance: 8.5 Overall: 8 (too hot for me ) Stay spicy, @wing.god

We were so happy to find this not-so-hidden gem on our way back to the hotel! I had peanut butter oreo ice cream and my parents had mint patty frozen yogurt, both of which were delicious! There was a bit of a line when we got there, but it went quickly because service is fast and worth the wait. (visited 8/7/21)

The Ice House in Rye is a great place to stop for ice cream and drive-in type food while touring the area, next to Wentworth By The Sea (country club/hotel/marina) just outside of New Castle. This location is on NH Route 1B, not a super busy road. The Ice House scoops out Richardson's Ice Cream (around 36 flavors), which I absolutely love on a warm summer day or any time of year, including cones, cups, sundaes, shakes, frappers, malts, floats, freezes, ice cream sodas, banana split, and frozen yogurt (6-8 flavors). Ice cream/frozen yogurt offered in kiddy, small, and large sizes ($2.40-$2.90-$3.40 plus tax in 2009). Some signature sundaes offered are ET, Flutter Nutter, Pina Colada, Peanut Butter Cup, Mexican, Heath Bar Crunch, and more ($4.95-$6.45 plus tax). The drive-in type food offered includes homemade chowders, chili, burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, seafood, rolls, lobster rolls, appetizers, dinner plates, Coke products, and Boylan sparkling beverages. The prices are fair to moderate here, seafood dinners in the $10-$20 range. A Lobster Roll & Fries was $15.95 plus tax (in spring 2009). There are outside takeout windows with high overhead menu boards for regular food and ice cream offerings posted near the windows. Picnic table seating nearby, including under acorn trees. Full service waitstaff dining only is available inside in the casual shiny wood dining room, sort of reminds me of a smaller version of the dining room at Johnson's Steak & Seafood in Northwood. I come here mainly for the Richardson's ice cream and I enjoy the Cake Batter and Death By Chocolate flavors, cold and creamy goodness! I also really enjoy a Brownie Sundae with Tollhouse Ice Cream, hot fudge, nuts, and whipped cream, a great sweet combination! After I'm done, I can continue on my scenic ride around Portsmouth, Wentworth By The Sea (country club/hotel/marina), and New Castle like a gawking tourist. In reality, I do work in the area as part of my day job. PARKING: Crushed stones Cash only, ATM available in the inside foyer SUMMER HOURS: Food (to 8:30PM), Ice Cream (to 9:30PM), Closed Mon SCHOOL/SPRING HOURS: Food & Ice Cream (to 8:30PM), Closed Mon & Tues

Stopped here last week while exploring the New Hampshire coast. Employees were friendly and helpful for us as first timers. Nice picnic tables in the back. Food was ready quickly, and came out hot and fresh. Make sure you save room for ice cream!

This ice cream was unbelievable! I ordered two scoops - I could have fed an entire family...but I didn't. Ate it all myself . I'm going back when I'm out here again next summer! Don't miss stopping at this scenic stop. The people working at the ice cream counter were incredibly nice too.

we were on the fence giving this a two or a three...I enjoyed my experience a little more than the rest so I went with three. the food: great fried seafood, incredible ice cream sundaes and of course diet coke. the negatives: s.e.r.i.o.u.s.l.y. slow kitchen... we were watching the scoop girls, the slow service wasn't their fault, it just took FOREVER for fried food to come out of the kitchen. maybe they were understaffed? and no parking and only 8 picnic tables for outdoor seating. we'd give this place another go on another non-weekend night because of how good the fish tacos/lobster rolls/ice cream, but only for those three reasons. keep on rolling if you're in any kind of a hurry!

Our drinks & corn bread were delicious as well. By the time our mains were coming up our waitress had secured us a spot inside to eat them. She was lovely & we were grateful! I was super excited when I saw the reviews for this restaurant as well a Phantom Gourmet video…read morepraising it highly. I decided to make a reservation to take advantage of their special promotion during Restaurant Week. I made a reservation through Open Table and our table was ready when we arrived. Place is small but tables are well spaced to allow for privacy. We were presented with their restaurant week menu as well as a limited regular menu for add-ons. Our order was taken in a timely manner and with a smile. I started with the coconut carrot ginger soup for my starter. I added a grilled bread basket with butter as it is not included with your meal and I like bread with my soup. The soup was a decent soup and the bread was slight charred in places. As for my main course, I went with the braised short ribs served with polenta and roasted root vegetables. The red wine demi glace was good and the root vegetables were inconsistently roasted as some were a little too hard and some mushy. Short ribs were not consistently seasoned as I got salty in some bites and well seasoned in others. I was disappointed that my short ribs were stringy as well and that was not what I expected. The dessert was an apple tart. The shell was somewhat hard and difficult to cut into with the spoon provided. Flavors were good. My overall experience was that it was just ok but nothing stood out to me as out of the ordinary or special about it. So go if you want to and maybe your experience will be better than mine.

We frequently pass through Kittery, often stopping at Kittery Trading Post and Bob's Clam Hut, but…read moreon this trip we ventured off of Rt. 1 and discovered a little hidden gem...The Black Birch. This quaint gastropub doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside, this seems like a place where locals are regulars and tourists are happy to get a table at this "no reservations" joint. It's dark inside (no photos) and a little cramped. The bartenders are serving double duty mixing and pouring drinks while also playing DJ and spinning vinyl records. And it felt like everyone inside was exactly where they wanted to be at the moment...enjoying each other's company and sharing drinks and food. The menu is about the size you would expect from a small kitchen - a fair number of appetizer dishes meant for sharing, and a handful of entrees, ranging from casual to a bit more refined. The grilled cheese and tomato soup ($19) was made with a hearty artisan bread that hit the spot on a chilly evening. Similarly, the coq au vin ($26) was classic comfort food, with perfectly cooked smashed fingerling potatoes surrounded by a rich, decadent reduction sauce smothering meaty mushrooms and soft pearl onions. Note, the coq au vin did take a long time to prepare, so not the dish to order if you're in a hurry. A couple of not-too-sweet lemon ricotta donuts (with chocolate sauce) was a great way to end the meal.

We celebrated our 12 year wedding anniversary while touring New England…read more We actually just happened upon this place because the first restaurant that we went to, across the street, was out of a couple of dishes that my husband wanted. Well, I'm happy that they were because dinner here was SOOOO good! The bartender helped us choose a bottle of champagne to start. We shared everything. One of each of the deviled eggs each. The maple cranberry was interesting. The sour cream chive one was to die for! The ricotta gnocchi was elegant and fluffy. The sauce made it over the top. The ribs were good, but I'm a Midwest girl. They just don't compare to back home. The clam linguine was seasoned perfectly. It was quite filling. We ended with the Apple Olive Oil cake with maple ice cream. The cake itself was quite dense and dry. The ice cream helped. I would not order this dessert again. Service was quite SLOWWWW, and for no reason as they weren't very busy while we were there. There were long gaps between courses and then once we were finished we kind of just sat there for a while. The food was worth it but something is not running efficiently and could be improved. Still giving 5 starts because it was so good and everyone was welcoming.

The bartender was fast and friendly. The drinks were average prices and they have a late night kitchen. The best part was they had an acoustic duo singing and playing guitar. I had a small fried chicken finger from another friend's meal & their chicken still isn't the best cut of chicken. It still has a rubbery texture to it & isn't that great. They definitely look better than they taste. I got something new....BBQ pork nachos & even though they don't look very appealing they were sooooo good!! Even my friend's were stealing some from me. Our waitress was new but friendly & good. I didn't catch her name. FINALLY they fixed the ghetto toilet in one of the unisex bathrooms!!! That took many years to do!! No more having to hold the handle down to make it flush & no more electrical gray tape on the tank.....good job guys!!! That took way tooooooo long. It looks much nicer & no longer ghetto looking. We will be back & I will definitely get the BBQ pork nachos again & I LOVE their CC ice cream sandwich!! Soooooo good!

We chose seats at the comfortable-looking bar, which was a great spot to start the evening and soak in the warm, antique, historical vibe of the space -- lots of character without feeling stuffy. We built our own dinner from a mix of appetizers, and everything we tried was excellent. The local cheese plate featured a soft, brie-like cheese that was rich and delicious. We also ordered the mussels, which were a standout -- especially the mustard component. I wouldn't have expected mustard to pair so well with mussels, but it absolutely worked and added a surprising depth of flavor. There was also a chicken dumpling special that was comforting, well-seasoned, and very satisfying. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. The service at the bar was fantastic. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful when offering advice on what to order, which made the whole experience feel easy and welcoming. We're already looking forward to our next visit and trying more of the menu.

The food however is overpriced and just doesn't fit the bill. I was surprised to sit down and see a simple steak and potato dinner was $72. I ordered duck and my wife ordered pork belly. The food was alright but neither were meals that we'd want again. Two entrees, two apps, and a single glass of wine. ~$180 with tip. I don't mind spending $200 on dinner - but if I'm spending that much dinner should be stellar. This was just mediocre and I'm honestly surprised it has a 4.5 star rating average. To each their own I suppose.
