Pretzel
Michael W.

Honestly confused by the high average for this brewery. Maybe I'm spoiled my local breweries in CT and MA but this place was nothing special. Not horrible but after trying 4 beers none of them stood out or made me want to bring something home. The pretzel was fine but overpriced for the size and quality. Also, when we arrived the front entrance and bar area looked deserted - all the chairs were up on the tables and bar top. We walked around the corner outside and saw a small seating area. A little confusing, we weren't sure where to go or what to do. Turns out you just seat yourself and they'll come out to you from the other bar area in back. Service was fine but the long back and forth meant longer than expected wait times just for a beer. Would I go back? Nah, but if you're walking by maybe you'll find a pint you enjoy.

Burgers were great. Jumbo hot dogs bigger than expected but very good. Love the environment inside, warm dive bar feel. Armadillo Danger was great from the tap.

Found this little brewery walking around downtown Portsmouth on a rainy day. We had popped into several boutiques to kill time and stay dry, so it was nice to stumble upon a nice watering hole to change things up! My boyfriend and I both got a flight and between the two of us we tried most of the beer on tap. Reasonably priced (I think $12 for 4 beer samples). They had a little of everything and all had a good flavor, there wasn't one that we didn't like. My boyfriend's favorite was the New England Gangsta (IPA) and mine was a sour... I'm the worst and forgot the name but it was a very mild and enjoyable sour that didn't leave you smacking your lips. We didn't try the food, but it all looked good from what was coming out around us. They have a "dog" side of the menu and a "cow" side... I feel like I'd be team hot "dog" if I did get food as those were best looking of all the food coming out! It was a cozy little place with some bar, table and cozy couch/chair seating. Small and intimate. The lady working was super nice and friendly, and checked on us enough but not to the point of annoyance. Loved the service and atmosphere a lot. If I was a local I would definitely frequent this watering hole! So if you are local, not sure what you're doing still reading this review... get your butt off the couch and go quench your thirst here!

Review is for beer only. We stopped in this cute place to sit in their cozy beer garden on a nice sunny day and enjoy a beer. Service was great, and the beer was tasty. I liked being able to get a flight of 4, 4 oz beers to taste. Worth a stop if you're in the area.

Great spot for a burger and beer flight! I absolutely loved the Brethren Code (white coconut stout). It was light, unique, and not overly sweet. Burger was good and the service was friendly. Only con is trying to find parking but that seemed true for the entire area of downtown Portsmouth (it's a cute town; lots of visitors)!

A great brewery with some really unique beer options. Small, quaint space inside, and outdoor seating in the summer. Their food is really solid too, especially if you're looking for a simple yet fancy hot dog. Note: their Portsmouth location is closed as of 12/30/24 and they are now solely in Somersworth.

Absolutely delicious!! This was perhaps the best hot dog I've ever had, burger was also verrrry tasty! This is a really cozy spot with a lot of room for functions or for an intimate dinner or a fun night out with friends. Tucked away on the hill you'd miss it if you weren't looking. Staff was nice too!! I highly recommend the Toto hotdog. Yum!! Nice tap list too.

It you are craving a hot dog then this is your spot! They had lots of unusual but good combos to choose from. My favorite was our appetizer- Goldfish. A child hood favorite and it's still a tasty snack. We sat outside which was a nice area tucked away in the parking lot. Our server was nice and attentive. This was a nice spot. The food definitely hit the spot!

Misleading signage. Went in for the 2-1 hot dogs at 1:00. Waitress says starts at 3:00. I say sign didn't say that, she says that's the way it is. A responsible business would do 2 things: honor the sign then correct it. They only did the latter so lost my beer business. Silly management.

The service here was too notch! Such a cool place with the nicest people! They have every type of hotdog or burger topping combo you could ever think of! I went a little crazy and tried a hot dog with beet and goat cheese on it and let me tell you it was in the top 3 bed hot dogs I've ever eaten! They also had some really cool beers! Definitely recommend this place! They even had a nice outdoor patio area!

We sat underneath their outdoor shed and enjoyed beers and dogs. Servers were in the weeds but super friendly. Dog friendly outdoor but unfortunately also very kid friendly.

Really cute local place with excellent dogs. I had the Astro which was really good- chili, cheese jalapeños but all balanced.

We visited on Friday night and sat at a table as the bar seating was pretty packed. Crowd was pretty chill - a mixture of people in their 20's having drinks & apps, and then older couples/families enjoying dinner. We were happy to see Smithwicks on the draft menu, and we also got a Downeast cider with a caramel/cinnamon rim. We ordered the house made mozzarella sticks, which were ginormous, crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and all around delicious. We all opted with different types of burgers - sliders, fried chicken, and a pub burger. All were served with fries and were perfectly cooked. The coating on my fried chicken was crispy and flavorful. Service was awesome - our glasses were never left empty! Best of all, Dwyers has a free jukebox packed with favorites. Looking forward to coming back on our next visit to Portsmouth - we'll definitely be trying the deviled eggs, wings, and fried oreos!

After spending aprox $250 on drinks we were asked to leave our table before we were done because there were other people waiting for tables. I understand that it's a busy St. Paddy's weekend and they need to turn tables over and make $ but it was quite jarring and rude AND we were getting ready to order food. I enjoy this place but i won't be returning. If you want average food and drinks, which is forgivable because of the fun music, and would like to be treated like crap on a Saturday afternoon, Dwyers is the place for you.

Statey has just recently opened up, which replaced State Street & while I live in Vegas now this definitely was on my list of stops while home visiting. I finally got to go in last night to check it out. It is very big & kinda open but not too open around the dinning room area. They have plenty of seating on the floor & around the bar. It was great to see Mo a long time bartender still working for them. They were having karaoke night & they have a nice little stage out back for the "maybe soon to be famous singers to perform on". It started @ 7/8pm (can't remember) & went to midnight. No cover charge to get in. It wasn't very packed here on the Thursday night I went, but I have heard that it does get very packed to the point that you may not be able to get in. So keep that in mind when heading over to check them out! I didn't get anything to eat as I was not hungry. My cousin got the fish sandwich with tatter tots. He said his sandwich was good & I had a few tatter tots which were yummy! They still have their famous lobster roll for a crazy, reasonable, too good to be true price! My Mom had asked me to check on this for her as she loves their (State Street) lobster rolls. I do want to go back before I head home to have one as I have in the past & it was very tasty & they fill the bun up with plenty of lobster meat. They have one of my favorite flavored vodkas, blueberry so I was drinking those up. It was nice & cozy in there, temperature was just right. The bathrooms were clean & they have more then one stale inside their rest room so I never had to wait. State Street had less bathrooms & that would make for a long wait when needing to relieve the bladder. I saw some familiar faces while I was in there. Their door guy for that night, Aaron was a really nice guy. Friendly & smiling all the time. You definitely need to check this place out. Stop by for a drink (or two) and/or a bite to eat! I will be back before heading home & on my future trips back to NH!! So happy that they brought State Street back!!!! Thank You!!!
