There are very large chunks of lobster meat in the bisque. That's the good news. The lobster was fresh but unfortunately tasteless...as was the soup itself. And not even warm. The lobster bisque is 1 out of 10. The hot dog is a 7 out of 10. The clam chowder is a 7 out of 10 but barely warm. The $42 lobster roll also had huge chunks of knuckle and claw tasteless lobster meat with no mayo to speak of. I made some of my own tartar sauce with a mayo and relish pack mixes to make it taste like something. The sprite was cold. That was good. $85 total. Not worth it but the servers were sweet. This was our 5th visit. We always buy a quart of chunky lobster bisque, along with a lobster roll and then we each enjoy an ice cream cone. The locations web site says 29.99 for a quart of chunky lobster bisque. When I ordered the bisque cashier said 42.xx. Excuse me I said it's advertised at 29.99. She replied that it take 2 bowls and a cup to fill the quart. I said I'm sure it does that why we ordered the 29.99 quart. Girl gets her boss to "speak to me". Had SPECTACULAR lobster rolls here this past Thursday May 28th. Quite expensive (understandable with relative scarcity and diesel fuel 2X what it was a year ago), but unlike other places these were truly orth it! The Beach Plum has been our ice cream stop for years. Last night we stopped by for our fix, and the Plum didn't disappoint! The service was great. And while the place was super busy we had our order in a very short time. Prices have come up a bit but the portions are still very generous. With my "small" I got two different flavors and two generous scoops. My wife's kiddie would be a small elsewhere. Dressings could be upgraded from basic pouches (with chemicals) but I made due ;) My one complaint - the ice cream servings are grossly, irresponsibly oversized. We got the max amount of lobster on a roll for about 36 dollars and the mix was light on the mayo but big on lobster flavor. I did wish that for that amount of lobster they'd used a slightly bigger bun to get more of the balance, but I can understand the appeal of the piled on lobster roll! I have to admit. The Beach Plum is one of those places we've passed by many times but never actually stopped, until this year, and I'm really glad we did! We were in the middle of a long bike (bicycle) ride along the coast recently, and we stopped here for sustenance along the way. This location is especially nice because it's right across the street from beach parking / bathrooms, so we really only had to stop once for everything! They had a good amount of picnic tables and a few benches for in-site eating, which was also nice. We will definitely keep this place in mind for future rides. Good food, nice location. If I could give them 10 stars I would! We discovered this stop a couple of years ago while visiting from out of town. We now stop EVERY TIME in town! The lobster rolls are the best I have ever had and they never disappoint! I do always have to ask for a side of lemon to squeeze on top. The chips that come with the lobster roll are a great compliment with just enough saltiness. And the ice cream here is delicious! My favorite is the mint chocolate chip.
