The hubby and I stopped here for a late lunch. I really wanted some Seafood Chowder. They didn't disappoint. Tasted delicious!! My hubby got the Haddock dinner. I got the lobster roll. It was 6oz and that was way too much food. Everything was delicious. Service was great! The prices were average for a restaurant right off the coast. The decor is your typical Seashore themed. Lots of BIG lobster statues. We sat on the second floor so we had a great view of the ocean. We will definitely be coming back.

This is our second time visiting Ray's, first time this season. Tasty seafood at a reasonable price with great ocean views. Friendly, knowledgeable staff who give great service.

Good view of the ocean on the second floor. Great full-belly fried clams. Good service. One of my favorite spots when visiting New England for clams.

I love your fries! Super crunchy, clean tasty oil, calamari soft yet lovely crunch on the batter; tasty coleslaw (garlic flavor). Would love to taste their fish and chips next time.

The dining room is seat yourself. We sat upstairs and had a gorgeous view. Our waitress was super friendly and food came out quickly! We were not a fan of the fried clams. The crab cake was tasty and the bang bang shrimp was my favorite.

Had yummy Haddock & scallops dinners here at this busy very casual spot. Had to wait for a table on a weeknight shortly after summer. Our friends got the seafood dishes that came with the cracker crumbs on top & they also liked theirs. Across the street from the beach in Rye, New Hampshire.

If you love seafood you won't be disappointed. Located across the street from Rye beach. This restaurant has been serving seafood for 50 years When I'm in coastal area, Rays Seafood is a must stop. You can dine inside there are two floors with an ocean view on the upper floor. There is also picnic tables outside Ample parking Today my guest ordered Fish and chips - most fish I have ever seen a good value I ordered a 2-way seafood combo fried clams and scallops- Plenty of food - In fact you could share this plate- the coleslaw was also delicious The service and the employees are great The menu has something for everyone Stop in and enjoy Of course we'll be back !!

Expensive, but it is disgusting. Fish and chips were possibly the worst I've ever tasted.

We enjoyed 2X 1.5lb lobsters and love it and a good price too. Sitting on the outside patio was very nice as well. We will return.

The salmon bites were over saturated in sauce so much so that the panko was soggy, the pan seared scallops were decent but I found the bacon jam to be too sweet paired with the scallops. We could not flag down our waiter any of the times we needed her and every time we asked someone else for help they'd leave and not come back. When it started raining and we needed to move indoors she was gone for so long she was surprised when she returned and we had already had been helped inside by another staff member. We ended the meal when she said she'd come back with water only to disappear and we ended up asking another waitress for the check, and she redirected it back to our waitress, who finally came back with no water. The restaurant was by no means full so I'm not sure what the large gaps in service was, and at one point my friend noticed the waitresses chatting in the kitchen while we were craning our necks. I'd only come back to order the seafood chowder as the rest of the dishes weren't good enough to make up for this.

We chose seats at the comfortable-looking bar, which was a great spot to start the evening and soak in the warm, antique, historical vibe of the space -- lots of character without feeling stuffy. We built our own dinner from a mix of appetizers, and everything we tried was excellent. The local cheese plate featured a soft, brie-like cheese that was rich and delicious. We also ordered the mussels, which were a standout -- especially the mustard component. I wouldn't have expected mustard to pair so well with mussels, but it absolutely worked and added a surprising depth of flavor. There was also a chicken dumpling special that was comforting, well-seasoned, and very satisfying. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. The service at the bar was fantastic. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful when offering advice on what to order, which made the whole experience feel easy and welcoming. The food however is overpriced and just doesn't fit the bill. I was surprised to sit down and see a simple steak and potato dinner was $72. I ordered duck and my wife ordered pork belly. The food was alright but neither were meals that we'd want again. Two entrees, two apps, and a single glass of wine. ~$180 with tip. I don't mind spending $200 on dinner - but if I'm spending that much dinner should be stellar. This was just mediocre and I'm honestly surprised it has a 4.5 star rating average. To each their own I suppose.

This place is absurdly consistent. The portions are always generous, the quality is never caught lacking, and the dining room is spotless in that reassuring someone actually cares way. The staff (and it's always the same people that are there, which is cool in itself that there's no noticeable turnover in the staff) is friendly without being fake about it... efficient, pleasant, and clearly proud of what they're serving from fryers behind the soda fountains. Let's talk food, because wow. That's why you're reading this. The fried shrimp are so good that my wife (who does not like seafood) actively loves them. That alone should be printed on the menu. I've only known her to eat fried shrimp when the breading weighs more than the shrimp itself (which is not the case here). The tartar sauce is the best in North America. It's my crack. If I drank it through a straw (a bit too thick), that straw would be called a crack pipe. I literally smile writing about this tartar sauce. I will not be taking questions at this time. The "regular" fries are exactly what fries should be: crisp, fluffy, salty perfection. And the onion rings? Peak "fried seafood place" onion rings... golden, crunchy, and unapologetically doing their job, not tempura style, but old school Weathervane "fried seafood style" onion rings that you can sub in instead of fries on plates/boats for a small upcharge. Even the bathrooms are clean, which sounds like a throwaway detail until you realize how rare that is and how much it says about the place. We love it so much that we'll happily drive 40 minutes each way to eat there - in winter - because that's what you do when a place never lets you down. And despite the sign saying Al's Seafood, we tell everyone it's called "Big Al's Seafood" Not because that's the name, but because that's the energy this place has... It's not trendy. It's not trying to reinvent anything. It's just awesome, every single time and honestly, that's harder to pull off than any gimmick. Signing off... keep it up, Big Al.

The Parker House rolls were savory warm perfection and a great way to start the meal. My entree, the gnocchi with duck confit was one of the best things I've ever tasted (though very rich--I had to bring half home). And I tasted my dining companion's duck breast an it was also delicious (which they concurred in thinking). The dessert special was a sticky toffee pudding with bananas foster ice cream and peanut butter magic shell and I wish I could eat it every day. The only downsides were that (1) I didn't love the dessert cocktail (which was also absent a garnish), but it could also very well be personal preference and it was only $7, (2) it was freaking freezing in the restaurant. We were seated in a corner that didn't seem to have any baseboard heaters, and even though we weren't far from the fireplace, there was so little insulation on the windows we were all egregiously uncomfortable. The service was great, with the waitress very helpfully answering all our questions and brining each course with perfect timing. The food itself is on the expensive side, though I thought the drinks were normal for a nice restaurant (my other drink, which I enjoyed, was $13). But for the quality of the food, it's hard to complain.
