A big shout out to Home Depot employee Geoffrey Dickerson! The spousal unit and I were looking for a front door handle and dead bolt set to be installed on our new front door. We had the model picked out, but it was slightly damaged. Geoff came along and was able to get the same model from 3 shelves up and in the back. End of story? Nope. It's just starting. He could have just said "here ya go" and left us at that. But he gave us good advice why the brand we chose was better than other's they carried (all price comparable). Function and security are big in our book and how he described the lock more than checked that off. As a former 30+ year industrial salesman, I really appreciate when people in a store know their inventory and products. We had purchased a water dispenser from this location back in March of 2021. Not even a full year we were having issues with the filter even though the brand had marketed that the dispenser was self cleaning. We had gone back to the same Home Depot for simply some sort of cleaner or filter replacement for the bottom load water dispenser. After speaking with Garrick, who is the head of the plumbing department, he had stated that the brand of water dispenser we had bought had been having issues with the filter. He instructed us to go home, grab the dispenser, and come back to customer service and we could receive a replacement! Upon walking up to customer service Sue and Mariah (?) were working the area. We had explained to Mariah the situation and what Garrick had told us. I had expected as Home Depot policy some sort of proof of purchase would be required, that's standard. However, what is NOT standard is employees especially the "supervisor" of customer service to give out the most disrespectful, nasty attitude, with a sprinkle of racial profiling service, to PAYING PATRONS. Immediately Mariah had given us an impression that she doubted what Garrick had relayed to us and that the item was even purchased there. I understand the store needs proof of purchase, we didn't have receipt, the card that it was purchased on was no longer as it became expired. She had our customer number/Home Depot account pulled up but claimed she didn't have the access to see our purchase history. But also in the same breath she claimed she was the customer service supervisor? Mind you, I had to ASK her about pulling up account info. Not to compare stores but if we had went to Costco, their immediate reaction is to help! Let's start with a membership ID. Not try to turn us away cause you simply do not feel like helping when it is your job to literally provide customer SERVICE. It's funny because I have a saved video on my phone in the SAME Home Depot, on the exact day the dispenser was purchased! March 20th, 2021. Once Garrick came to the counter to relay the SAME message to Mariah, we were still an inconvenience! We go home to get the filter and head back to this same location. Not sure why we even bothered to be honest. We had told Mariah she was rude for how she immediately assumed we were trying to run some scam on her?? Mind you, this is when she decides to answer to the phone and say "someone's saying I'm being rude I have to get off the phone" Mariah also stated she was the supervisor and she could have told us "no". But it was Garrick that gave her the instructions to replace the dispenser! At this point, I'm so disgusted with the service I call to ask for the store manager. They claim they do not have one. Initially it was Sue that had answered and when I had asked for the customer service supervisor's SUPERVISOR, she still had Mariah answer the phone. I don't even know if her name is Mariah, she purposefully didn't enunciate her name I had asked, "did you say your name is Mariah?" Mariah so kindly sent me to a dead line when I asked for her boss. When I called back AGAIN asking for store manager information as in a name and contact info I was directed to call corporate. I was told they have no store manager, no one in charge, etc. I asked Sue for the corporate number, I was told to "google it" and she hung up. Again, I don't even know if Mariah and Sue were using real names. Mariah wears glasses and her dry hair is greying. Sue has a lovely heart tattoo right by her right eye. Honestly if you like shitty customer service from bitter people who clearly have nothing to do but get off on being pieces of shits at work, this store is for you!!! I ordered a stack unit Washer/Dryer from Home Depot on 10/5. The earliest delivery date was 11/10. I hated to wait so long, but that was the schedule and I accepted it. Took the day off from work, gave my old washer/dryer to a neighbor last night and insisted it had to be picked up before the end of the night to make room. Got a call from the delivery folks earlier - someone had to get towed out of a muddy driveway, so my delivery is rescheduled for a week out. Initially it was a month out until I complained loudly. No excuse to not either make it happen tonight OR sooner than a week. I will never order large appliances from HD again. So frustrated with this lousy service! Well, how can I say that best. They've tried hard, been friendly but left me with a bitter sweet taste after all. I've given them two jobs. #1 was excellent in plan and execution, the counter tops been just marvelous, super durable and everything the guy from this department promised. The price for it was very reasonable. Now with this in mind, I've contracted job #2, replacing all doors in my house. All started as with job #1, but then came the day in which the installation was planned..... Let me say this beforehand, if it wasn't for the installer, this job would have been to be considered a super fail. After my initial meeting with the department guy there, the installer came, took all measurements and we settled for a date for the installation. When he arrived, it turned out, the sliding door was too short and needed a secondary base else it wouldn't have fit at all. Unfortunately this door came in this height only, yet the department guy while running the measurements, should have seen that and informed me, that we need to find an alternative for this. Than the entrance door was dented, also due to bad quality assurance while sending the installer out with the material. Biggest fail was, the fire Door was so out of measure, the installer had to practicality rebuild the entire thing to conclude the job. The store manager was to an degree helpful but I found while spending a sufficient amount of money there, they should have acted way more customer friendly..... Really disappointed with Home Depot's new return policy. I've been shopping with HD in Olympia for 12 years (I'm a local handyman in the area). I've never had an issue returning an item without a receipt until this week. I intended to purchase a DeWalt drill/driver combo. When I got home I realized I bought a single impact driver. When I went back to return it I was denied even though my purchase was came up in the system attached to the credit card I used. The manager told me there was nothing he could do and I had to contact a third party company which was handling these issues. That company only told me that I was denied because my purchase was made partially on store credit (The majority of the purchase was made on my credit card). I then called the HD retail resolution department who told me to there was nothing they could do. They said I was denied by the third party company (called The Retail Equation) and HD had no power allow an exception for this return. For further clarification: The impact driver was labeled and priced as the combo set, and it was under the combo set display in the aisle. When it rang up the cost was less than the price on the box. This shows that HD mislabeled the drill and they have some responsibility for this erroneous purchase. Lowe's is nearly as close as HD. That's where I'll be going from now on. read more

I am older so I have been staying home as much as possible but my heating system needed some repair. Nothing to complicated. I contacted a local HVAC company and even though I told them exactly what was wrong they wanted almost $150 to come out and give me an estimate. It was a simple 3/8" copper tube that needed repair! So this morning I went to Home Depot at 6:00 AM in hopes that not many others would be there and their was only maybe 4 or 5 customers. What upset me the most was NOT ONE employee was wearing a face mask! EVERY customer was wearing one but NOT ONE Home Depot employee was. This tells me they do not care about their customers. The mask protects others more than the wearer. Next time I have to make a trip to a hardware store it will be Lowe's. I only hope they care more about their customers health than Home Depot does. read more

My grandpa was in need of a smaller piece of plywood. He was disappointed to hear that the extra wood that's cut is no longer set aside in a "free" box anymore. If I could, I would leave no stars! Home Depot used to be one of my favorite go to store for merchandise and great service from experienced staff, but not anymore! The last few times I've gone there, the young gal at customer service completely ignores me and won't glance at me and kept looking at the computer. Finally I walked up to her and ask her where may I find some items I needed, and her comment was "I don't know!" I walked past few more staff, and not one of them asked if I needed help. When I did ask one about a question on something, he gave me a short answer and walk away. Word to the wise. Local is always better. You might get a cheaper quote using Home Depot for your carpet installation, but you get what you pay for. Don't use Home Depot for installation or any sort of contracted work. Their process.... Lack of communication and inability to give a proper quotes for a completed project. They hire cheap labor (not paying the contractors fairly for the job) and the contractors that do the project don't even know what they are walking in to when they arrive. THE PROCESS: You go into Home Depot wait around forever for help with inquiring about carpet installation. You finally get to speak with an employee who was transferred from the garden department who doesn't know anything about carpet installation and can't answer any of my questions. You set an appointment and pay a 50 dollar deposite to have measurements and a quote which is then under lock and key and are unable to take measurements to other companies to compare quotes for your project. Someone comes to your house to measure (not the contractor) gives wrong measurements to the contractor. Then you get an email giving you an installation date. (No choice of date btw) You rearrange you work schedule to fit this date that was givin to you and then nobody calls you beforehand. You call them to find out when they will arrive on said date. They give you a list of requirements (by email) to disassemble and move everything out of your rooms except 6 pieces of bare furnature that they will move. You comply with list after paying another fee to move furnature. (Only informed about the 6 furnature item limit the day before when you called the installer). 6 item limit not included in the email. You pay a fee for old carpet to be removed and hauled away with no knowledge of a policy that the carpet has to be in decent condition to be hauled away. Then you are also told that the base boards need to be removed and will not be replaced without yet another fee. You had previously asked about the baseboards with the garden department employee and the person that came to measure and the response that was givin both times was "they don't usually have to do that". You spend 10 min online looking for a costomerservice number for Home Depot to ask my questions and voice my concerns. Then you are on hold for 35min to speak with a manager. You are then told you will get a call back from management. So orginally I was going to give four stars. The people at this Home Depot are super friendly and I really enjoy talking with them, and getting taken around the store. However, the guy we were directed to as the tile expert, gave us lots of advice...much of it wrong we later found out. The tiles we bought for the floor? Yeah, they are only rated for walls and could crack and get easily scratched on the floor. The grout he recomended? Way harder to use than the other kind we had been considering. There is more, but basically it ate up a lot of our time going back to get the right stuff. Home Depot is great if you already know exactly what you are doing. As if it's not enough that this place is a corporate chain, the quality and prices are erratic and inconsistent. Sometimes I find great lumber here, other times it is all gnarly and twice the price of anywhere else in town. Mostly I use this place as a comparison shopping point. I'm really into comparison shopping, but I rarely end up making a purchase here if I comparison shop! The staff is as hit-or-miss as you would expect from a place like this. The appliance lady is awesome, but other people seem inconvenienced by customers asking for help or directions. Regarding the garden center - don't buy plants here!! Dear god, if you care at all about your garden, don't buy plants here! They are not suited to your climate, they are not well-cared for, they are not well-potted, and they have a high chance of spreading disease. But sometimes they have cheap/reasonable deals on things like cedar grove soil or seed starting supplies. If you see something you want in the garden section, buy it. They probably won't have it next time you come, and they will probably never stock it again! For example, their coconut coir bricks were a great deal, but once they sold out, the employees acted like they never carried coir and would never carry it again! read more

Ok in the end, but not a great experience... I placed an order for a tool box and a number of other items online with the hope of picking everything up quickly and not having to spend a lot of time in store. I arrived shortly after receiving notification my order was ready. My first disappointment was when the customer service rep told me I could not receive my military discount because my order was placed online. This was silly because I did not receive any special pricing. I purchased merchandise available in store at the same price. I challenged this and they had to refund the original order and place it again with the discount. It was worth the hassle for the 10% discount - about $60 for this order. The hassle should have never happened. The outcome of their policy only inconveniences customers who order online. I do, however, appreciate that Home Depot offers a military discount. My main disappointment was when I proceeded to retrieve my order. I had to talk to several people after the military discount discussion to find someone who could help me locate the merchandise I was there to collect. When I finally reached it, I discovered they picked the floor model of the tool chest I ordered rather than one new in a box. I asked if they had one in a box and they did - but - it was stored overhead and would have had to be retrieved. I expected they would have done this before my arrival. The floor model was missing pieces and would have been difficult to transport without a box to protect it in transit in the bed of my truck. At this pint, no big deal. I asked them to retrieve the tool chest in a box. After about 30 minutes, they finally brought me the tool chest in a box! Yay! My elation turned back to disappointment within seconds when I realized the box they brought could not have been the whole tool box. A quick glance at the box confirmed my fear (carton 1 of 2). During my 20+ minute wait to get the second carton an astute customer service professional asked why I was waiting. I explained and she quickly offered a $50 discount on the tool chest due to the inconvenience. This was a little bit of a saving grace. I would have preferred to pay full price and have everything be ready when I got there because I had a huge "honey do" list waiting for me, but it was nice to finally encounter a customer oriented person who could recognize the service was sub par. I'm sure I'll be back eventually, but only if absolutely necessary. read more

Bought some pressure treated 2x4s and had them do the cuts at the store but when I went to put up the fence I realized they were all well over an inch off. Made sure all my measurements and were correct and that I'd written them all down correctly. Called back and they told me they aren't respondsible for cut wood. I've gone in twice for a carpet runner for my house. Same carpet employee guy was there. His nose buried deep into the computer and not even a glance up. He was apparently busy because no eye contact to me at all. Saw a lady employee thinking I can get some help but no ... she started talking to the employee guy sitting down. No communication from either of them that they would help me. I was standing right next to the carpet runner display!! waiting for one of these employees to come over to help cut my runner!! No communication that they would be right there. So now it would 3 times I asked for help!! So I felt they knew I needed help ... but I gave up and started leaving. NOW I WAS ASKED IF I NEEDED HELP AGAIN ... huh? of course I do! but I have to go and can't wait! Maybe they were playing rock paper scissors to see who would help me? With a big bathroom-renovation job coming up, and being too old to shop safely in this pandemic, I ordered floor tile and all that was needed to go with it, clicking the little "ship to home" buttons. When the order was processed, it was divided; two items will be shipped, we were to pick up the rest. We could live with that (curbside works) although we live pretty far from Olympia. BUT the payment was processed in two pieces, unknown to me, and they processed the very small order to ship first so, of course, the much larger sum they charged next caused Fraud Control to refuse the card for that and another purchase I made online. (A small "test" charge is a frequent ploy in credit theft. You'd think Home Depot would know that.) Hearing that the powers-that-be in Online Sales explained it to store staff as "insufficient funds" was infuriating. Staff at the store were pleasant, and curbside delivery was smooth, so there are two stars here, but this wasn't the first time this store's accounting/ billing system created nightmares. Customer service is the worst. The rating for customer service is bad since parking lot is terribly made and store lay out is terrible. Tonight I went into the store looking for packing boxes. The store having a terrible layout I first went to customer service desk. I met two employees discussing a pricing issue. After a minute, I made contact with the guy behind the desk. Conversation continued. I started looking to my phone to see the time. Several minutes passed. By this time I was thinking, what the heck I should have been searching the store. Another eye contact made but the conversation continued. Minutes later, the employee who was discussing the situation with her back toward me stepped behind the counter, noticed me, and basically 'yelped'. She was proactive and helped me find what I needed. Good on her and she needs a raise. The individual behind the desk, where I had several eye contacts with, needs additional customer service schooling. I HAD A QUESTION. That was all but his issue was the priority not his customer. I am so tired of the "experts" at home depot on Fones road treating me like I'm stupid! Believe it or not some women really do know a few things about construction! Plus I have never even once had someone there offer to help me load- even when I'm purchasing bricks, pavers, drywall or other heavy items. Just this evening I bought a small 7cf chest freezer and I asked at checkout if someone could help me load it. There were two young guys sitting around on a front loader - I asked if one of them could help me and they told me no. They said there was only one guy who could help me and he was busy loading lumber for a contractor so I would have to wait my turn. Frustrated I went over and loaded the freezer myself - it took me literally less than a minute while those two bozos sat there. Really? read more
