Im a long time Home Depot customer. Prices are fair and selection is solid, but the Bowie, MD location fell short.nothing was fair within this experience. I should note this was my second experience in the same month. No service available. Management is never helpful. There's a clear lack of management presence, and customer service showed little empathy or support. Escalating concerns wasn't possible, as leadership was unavailable. The experience at the customer service desk was especially disappointing.if you are in a hurry, better off using Amazon two day option vs coming to this location. One positive--the associate at the front who sings is always kind and uplifting. Overall, I'd choose Lowe's first. Other Home Depot locations, like Aspen Hill, MD, have been much better. Had to go to the store for a price match on an item I purchased there that went on sale because it couldn't be done on line because their email server was down but was instructed to go to the store and they could take care of it there since it was in their sale flyer. I told the online rep I would rather have a root canal than have to go to their customer service, especially on a (Sunday) The person that was supposed to be (in charge) was zero help and tried a couple of times making up BS excuses on why it couldn't be done like it was a special order (NOT) or, my favorite, return it and purchase it again - It's a toilet fool, because it was obvious she would rather go back to her conversation with a co-worker. Needless to say I decided that life is too short to waste it dealing with a useless person that should try another line of work that wasn't near the public. Just try to get through on the phone to set up an appointment for a kitchen design. I called 4 times and three times I got hung up on and once I did get through, left a message in the morning and by 5 pm still did not get a call back. At no time did I ever speak with someone in kitchen design. You would think that this would be a lucrative part of there business? Also, the automated system answers quickly, but when sent to the another line the phone could ring forever! This is my go to spot for plants, when I don't want to be bothered, just enjoy the plants. It's never crowded so I can browse in peace. My only gripe is the fact a lot of the plants appear to not be taken care of. I noticed a lot of dry soil, damaged leaves, cut stems from what looks like people cutting to propagate. I love plants enough and know that with TLC they will be fine, however the associates truly do need to take better care. over all, I will be back because this is a very convenient location. read more

Another Home Depot where you can never find help lol. I can say it much cleaner then other that I've been to. I was able to do the search my self since I was using the Home Depot app. The app allow you to find the exact aisle and bag of the item you are looking for. This is a horrible place to work for. My daughter worked there 5 years and was just fired. She had to have emergency surgery or become septic and die. She had no sick time and they expected her to come to work instead of having surgery. They waited almost 2 months after this incident to fire her saying they don't take doctors notes as excuses. I've gotten good service here when I need it, and the store always has a good variety of options. They also always have what I need. Even in the winter, needing garden supplies. My family just bought a new washer and dryer here and overall had successful interactions. We really appreciated that they had a customer care line for delivery orders. The delivery people updated their notes and the customer care on the phone could immediately see the info. It was very helpful in the process of install. read more

This location is so convenient for our family. We frequent it regularly and the staff is unmatched. There is always someone to greet you at the entrance, and they all seriously know their stuff. They know where everything can be found. It is seriously impressive. Recently we went to purchase 20 sheets of drywall. After looking extensively, we couldn't find a cart with the flatbed top. An associate named Deon went above and beyond to find it for us. Phenomenal and a life saver. Whenever we bring our dog on a Home Depot run, some associates recognize her and say hello. This place gets a little worse every time you go in here. I stood by the key counter, looking at several employees for over 10 minutes with nobody even offering to help. Went to Lowe's and was in and out with my keys in about a minute and a half. I know places are struggling to hire but I saw at least 3 employees that saw me, and did nothing. read more

Management at the Bowie location have poor follow up and lack leadership skills. The associates are helpful and engaging. The Regional Director of Home Depot should look into better leadership as the store manager is not a good representation. read more

What an absolutely Horrible Home Depot location. I've been in twice. Once to have a key made and the other time to rent a truck. We are new to the area. Visit 1: we waited at the key kiosk for 10 minutes and saw no one pass by to help. We walked to ask a cashier to call someone. She called someone once every 5 minutes for 15 over the intercom; to no avail. After 30 minutes of waiting, We finally started walking out and let her know we'd just try Lowe's. Visit 2: we stopped by to grab a few items and rent a pickup truck to move a few items into storage. As we approached to tool rental area; a gentleman told us that someone would be right there. 20 minutes later...nothing & no one. We asked an employee to call someone for us. She called over the intercom twice...no one came!!!!! (WTF man?!) As we were walking out...to Lowe's...the lady said "oh the guy had to leave. I called the manager but he's running around". Customer service needs work! We came to this location to purchase a toilet, and a Window blind. While waiting for our toilet to be brought to the front of the store, we went to get our blind. We needed to get our blind cut. I asked an associate in floors, he went to another section and asked another associate and he told me that he will be right with me. I went back to my husband who was standing by the blinds. We were there for 20 minutes before we went again to look for help. The associate that said he would help walked right by the aisle we were waiting at and said nothing. While my husband was waiting, I went down to the toilet aisle and found a toilet seat and went back to my husband who was still standing there waiting. Now my husband is disgusted of how long we have been waiting just to get a blind cut. I walked up to the associate who said he was coming, he then said "Im looking for two associates that can help you"....by this time we both were fed up with this. I told the young lady at the customer service desk about the blind and what we went through..She basically looked at us like a deer in headlights! She proceeded to give us the total of the toilet. I told her I wanted to get the blinds done as well. She said she had other things to do. In other words, I'm not trying to help you with the blinds, just pay for the toilet....smh. Buying Carpet. Beware. Typical poor service when dealing with major services from Home Depot. I made a carpet purchase about a month ago and was hoping for delivery and install in late December. 5 days prior to delivery I'm informed the carpet will not be available until Feb. This probably could have been disclosed at the time of purchase. This impacts my move in date and other home renovations. Probably better to go with specialized carpet sellers and installers as opposed to a place that doesn't specialize and really doesn't seem to care. read more

This place is pretty abysmal. I've been remodeling a house in the area for 2 years and I don't have much choice but to go here. I've never been to a store where the employees know less about their jobs, are more poorly trained or less helpful, and which refuses to comp their customers for mistakes they made. I was recently given an incorrect paint product, by way of the ill-trained paint staff, and after applying it to my house realized it was the wrong color and the staff had lied to us by creating a color they thought was close. The woman at the returns desk refused to return anything, dismissed my claim that I'd been lied to, and looked at me like I was crazy for asking for a refund. My house is now the wrong color and I'm out $90. She then offered me 50% off another gallon and walked off without saying anything, leaving me to figure out how to receive the discount. This place is bottom of the barrel. Go literally anywhere else to avoid incompetence. read more

This is a HD thing. When returning products don't take store credit. Get your money returned. Once you have the store credit card( like a gift card) you can only spend it in the store. Not on line or even using the pick up in store feature. You can't even use curb side pick up. Lots of things you see on line are not available in the store. I tried sending my handyman in with the card and they would not let him. Because of the pandemic I couldn't go in side. Management will not accommodate. read more

Ordered an item and got canceled right away because it immediately became unavailable online. So they refunded me the money right away. I ordered a second order but with a different color. I ended up adding the delivery service because the item was too big for my car. That was when the confusion and nightmare started. They called me the night before my delivery and told me the color I ordered was not available again but the original color became available. They switched the order back to the original color and said it would be delivered the next day. Got a call the next day and told me the item was missing a wheel so it could not be sold to me. The size I wanted turned out to be unavailable at all. They talked me into ordering a new size, which I did. Then they kept going back and forth with the phone calls and put me on hold for a long time. It was finally settled on delivering the smaller size today. I called to confirm about it and found out it was going to be sent to the wrong address! They need to do a better job with their internal system. When I paid for the delivery service, the receipt said the right address. I just don't know why they can't get their stuff together. With that said, I refuse to shop at this Home Depot again because the lack of communication and care is very frustrating. If I don't receive my item by end of today, I will ask for a full refund. If you are thinking about getting a delivery service from them, think twice. Their delivery window is 6 am to 8 pm!! Who has that kind of time to just sit at home and wait for that, especially they keep screwing up the order and changing the dates. This is unacceptable. read more

Ordered a washer via Home Depot order H2562-86481 on 1/15. Had to refuse delivery on 1/19 due to dent inside drum, grinding noise, and exterior dents. Reordered. Replacement arrived 1/26 Again had to refuse delivery due to dents in front that had been made from INSIDE the front cabinet. Now awaiting the NEXT replacement. Am seriously questioning my decision to purchase an LG if this is an example of your quality control. Update - the third replacement was supposed to be delivered tomorrow. Since I did not get a call from the delivery service this evening to tell me the time frame of the delivery I called them - and they told me they do not have the washer yet. So I was going to sit at home and wait for a delivery that would not occur - I would have expected a phone call to cancel and reschedule. So I went to Home Depot - and they can tell me nothing. I am really questioning whether I should cancel this purchase with Home Depot and LG and find another distributer and brand. read more

Don't bother purchasing anything from Home Depot and definitely don't use their "delivery" service!!! I have had an abysmal experience with the purchase and delivery of my refrigerator which is currently sitting on my front porch where it was left during delivery.  Besides the saga leading up to this, I want to start with the most immediate issue.  As of ... 2021, I have a $1400 refrigerator sitting on my front porch.  Arrangements were made between the online service and the Bowie Home Depot to have that refrigerator placed either inside my home or garage until the installation could be completed.  This was supposed to take place today.  Suffice it to say that after a 2 hour call with the online people and the resolution center, the refrigerator still sits on my front porch.  I spent the rest of my evening sitting at home waiting for a return call from the manager on duty at the Bowie store (Eric).  When I did not received it, I finally went to the store at 9:30 pm to see him.  I want to note that the original delivery date that I chose at purchase was scheduled for ...  I did not receive a call on ... to give me the window for which it would be delivered.  On the day of delivery after sitting and waiting for most of the day, I checked my email receipt to get a number to contact Home Depot.  At this point I saw an email stating that my delivery had been rescheduled for 23 days later because there was a supply chain issue.  While I found this disruptive and dishonest (internet stated the item was in stock), I decided not to complain. As my daughter was heading to work, she informed me that people were delivering something to the house and she had to get to work.  She asked them to just leave it!  I had no idea that my refrigerator was coming!  For me, $1400 is a lot of money.  I was relying on the promised phone call alerting me of delivery.  Most importantly, I was relying on it to occur on the day before the scheduled delivery!  The delivery date had been changed again. This is an immediate crisis in that I have an exposed, expensive item sitting on my front porch that passersbys can easily see and target for theft.  I have a 48 hour window from delivery to return the item that I cannot unwrap it to inspect for damage because it is sitting on my front porch and unwrapping it would expose it to potential harm. read more

Beware! Do NOT use Home Depot credit card or Home Depot store credit to make any purchase (especially any purchase that you may possibly have to return or exchange). Fine print buried in the credit card T&C allows Home Depot to refuse to accept any returns (vs typical VISA/Mastercard accounts which often include consumer protection), according to the HD "Coach" at Lanham, which applies equally at our usual store here in Bowie. Even the Home Depot receipt warns "AVOID RECEIVING AND USING [HOME DEPOT] STORE CREDITS." Bizarre! but true. So, on top of horrendous service, flat-wrong advice and evasive managers, Home Depot serves good customers an extra helping of consumer fraud, carefully crafted by corporate legal chefs... Details: We purchased $441 of tools last week and applied a $32 store credit to the purchase. The tools turned out to be unnecessary, so we tried to return them two days later in the original, unopened packages. Home Depot refused to accept the returns because a "third party verification service" called The Retail Equation says that any purchase of tools with ANY AMOUNT of store credit is non-refundable because criminals traffic in Home Depot store credits and tools. Well, so does Home Depot!!! The Retail Equation blames Home Depot policy, and Home Depot blames The Retail Equation policy. It is brazen, unscrupulous consumer fraud in the guise of security policy. read more

This is the worst Home Depot I've ever been to. Too bad it's the closest one to me. Recently I ordered two small items online for same day pickup. They notified me that my order would be ready in a few hours. After 2 days they still hadn't notified me and my order wasn't ready. So I decided to call only to be on hold for an hour and when the phone finally rang for someone to pick up - they hung up on me. I cancelled my order on the 3rd day. That's just one of my many terrible interactions at this location (I've been going here for 6 years) One time I asked someone where a particular item was located in the store and the employee said they didn't know and asked if I wanted them to google it. Another time an employee watched me as a sorted through some different items I was looking at. After a while he laughed at the fact I was struggling to find the right part and decided to tell me the product I was looking at was a waste of money for my project but he didn't even know what my project was. I could go on with these stories but you get the picture. I would say just go to Lowes but unfortunately that location isn't much better either. read more

My husband purchased an upright freezer from the Home Depot in Bowie about 3 weeks ago with delivery scheduled for December 23, 2021. The driver called my husband who was at work about 9:45 a.m. and said that he was 8 minutes away. I was at home awaiting their arrival and began to clean out the old freezer which we put on the back porch the night before. Well the delivery driver called my husband who called me about 10:15 a.m. and said that he knocked on the door but no one answered. When I came to the front door to open it, there was no truck or anyone from Home Depot delivery to be seen. When I checked my security cameras, no one had come to my house at all during the time that the driver said he came to my home. It didn't take me long to figure out that he had gone to the wrong house. I called customer service who said that they could only reschedule me and their first available date was January 4, 2022. I cancelled my order. This will be the last time that I shop here for anything. No one seemed to care or try to rectify the mistake that the driver made. (I do live in the area even though the review states I'm in San Francisco, CA) read more

We ordered new carpeting from Home Depot this fall. The ordering process and installation were fine. BUT the installers were exceptionally rude. Almost every request or question I had during the process was met with a rude response. They basically told me to mind my own business, IN MY HOUSE, while they got in and out as fast as possible. They don't care! 1st call: 800-466-3337 to customer care/was told this needed to be handled at the store level 2nd call: @ 9:22 am 301-809-3455 to the Bowie store/I was left on hold for 8 minutes with Crystal, so I hung up/called back 3rd call: @ 9:37 am I called back a 2nd time and was told to hold for Shaqonda, the manager, but was left on hold for another 10 minutes so I hung up/called back 4th call: called back a 3rd time where Shaqonda picked up but proceeded to leave me on hold for over 25 minutes so I hung up 5th call: called Customer Care @ 800-466-3337 again and relayed my frustration of not being able to get assistance (case #16376397), relayed the issue once again, and was asked to hold while she reached out to the Bowie store/Shaqonda, and, unbelievably, she said Shaqonda, the assistant store manager, picked up and NEVER CAME BACK to the phone so she could not provide assistance. Unfortunately, the "don't care" attitude seems to be the culture/norm at this store starting at the top, i.e. Brian and Shaqonda, your assistant managers. read more

I love Home Depot, but this Depot was spot on when I needed them. I had just left another Depot with my mom. We were looking for a specific table and the other store had some in the back, but didn't want to get them yet. We were greeted by a lady who was so friendly (a little too friendly for my mom's taste). She offered to help us look for the table. Eventually, the manager came over and had three people check in different areas of the store to find it. (Part of the appeal of this specific table was that is was only $29.) They, too, had just received their shipment, but was more than happy to sell me one. They weren't even displayed yet! I also went to their nursery and someone offered to help me figure out what kind of flowers and plants I should get (based on my record of homicide on my other plants) I really felt like I walked into one of those commercials where the people want to help you and you smile. Let's face it, if you want home improvements, it's either Home Depot or Lowes. Lucky for me they are across the street from each other. Frankly, I can't pick a favorite. They both are large and offer plenty of selections. The only thing negative about this particular store is that it shares the same entrance as the Bowie Baysox Stadium and when it's baseball season, it will be rather an inconvenience to get into their parking lot. read more
