Good selection, competitive prices,super-nice people. I never leave the store empty-handed.

My favorite friendly neighborhood store. As soon as I walk in, I am greeted and asked what I can be helped with. That is the type of service I love. The store is always neat and I always can find what I am looking for. Sign up for Ace rewards and you will be sent coupons and savings. I love a good sale, bargain and BOGO! read more

Hello Customer I went into the Ace hardware store Max was very helpful he assisted me with great service, when checking out I had a slight disappointment the cashier Jessie, Ace had coupons stating ( INSTANT BONUS) $10 when you download the Ace mobile app when I stated to Jessie let me download the app to receive the instant $10 she replied it's not instant it will take a couple days to receive the $10 bonus, my response why does it states instant she had no response read more

Stepping in this place feels like stepping into an old-school hardware store (in a good way). You get the feeling like whatever you are looking for, they are going to have it. It seems like the workers rotate near the front door so as soon as you enter, there is someone there to direct you to what you are looking for. The aisles are a bit narrow compared to those big box stores, but they are loaded with every product imaginable. The prices are a little bit higher on some things but it's a local, small business so remember you are supporting them instead a big corporation. We only went in to have keys cut but walked out with keys AND bird food. Hey, it was on sale this week, lol. read more

They have excellent service, a safe and clean environment, and a varied selection of goods for home and hobbies.

Though they have a lot in a small space it pales in comparison to other ACE hardware stores. I also find the customer service matter of fact; non friendly. read more

I get the same feeling going into this ace that I get going into a home depot. It just stirs up my inner handiman and makes me want to do something random like redo the deck, or buy a couple bags of cement. The staff here is always friendly, and even though I know i'm quite able to lift my own items. They are still nice enough to assist or at least offer to help me to my car. Sidenote: One should never just buy 1 bag of cement. A real man backs a truck up. Say it with me now... "Lemme get a couple 60 lb bags of cement" Anything less and they're gonna look at you like your salsa was made in New York City. read more

Odenton Hardware - Hardware Stores Near Me - Odenton, Maryland

See all

This location's customer service is always odd. It gives me a 'Get Out' vibe and I know that's so silly but it's just like an eerie feeling I get when I walk in but if I need something quick, they normally have it I get it and it and just get out (no pun lol) read more

There are some really nice people who work here. Check your mail for the coupons that are inside of the Val-pak mailer. Located near Walgreens in Odenton, this place has that old school hardware vibe where the employees care enough to try to learn the customers and the pet projects that they're working on. Its a bit crowded with all of the items they have in stock. I had to ask an employee to help me find what I needed and thy knew the store like the back of their hand. Checking out can be a little slow since this is a small business with a handful of employees.Small isn't bad in this scenario as it can be a relief from the shopping experience at one of the big box hardware stores. If in the area, I'd shop here again and it is a place I could recommend to others. read more

I am stopping being a customer at any ACE store. i ordered something for a Christmas present on December 1. I needed to return the item as he got a different item of similar product. Odenton store told me I had to call corporate. I asked if I could just return for other items I could use. They said no. i called corporate and they said it was out of the 30 return policy. I ordered it on December 1.....and January 1 my son was not yet here to have Christmas. corporate refused to do anything. I will never go back I to an ACE store...most assuredly the Odenton store. I was willing to buy sidewalk icing pellets and bird seed. my purchase would have been in excess of what these returns cost me. Odenton ACE and ACE has lost my business. Lousy customer service. read more

I always want to support my locally owned stores. I give Ace all my business. Ace Hardware of Odenton is no exception until my last visit. I bought an item and the total for the one item was $1.01. I had a fifty, a twenty and a dollar. I asked if they had a penny, the worker said no. I asked if I had to break a twenty for one cent? He replied I guess so. Seriously!! $18.99 change. I'm rethinking my loyalty to this local store. Home Depot isn't that far. read more

Outstanding folks!! Very very convenient, helpful, honest, and reasonably priced. If you need to get something for a quick fix or maintenance around the house--odds are that they've got it. In addition, you get the bonus of them probably knowing what else you may or may not need to get your job done right. If they can't help you--they won't waste your time and tell you the best places to get what you need. Try getting that kind of help at a Lowes or Home Depot.... read more

Was not able to enter the store because I didn't have a mask on my (at this time AA county doesn't require a mask to enter a store..) Wish I could give zero stars.! read more

This is one of those places that gets lost in the shuffle of big box hardware stores. It may not have as big of a selection as some of the larger stores but it does make up in personal service. I have to say that I am not knocking the knowledge of others because they know way more in some areas concerning at home fixes but the people at Ace truly know their stuff. I really do believe it is because of the smaller selection of items and they get to know what they are selling. I can say that I can go to an Ace and ask anyone a question and they can explain what I need. I have not had that experience anywhere else except at smaller hardware stores. Another aspect I enjoy is that they have very good coupons and since my repairs are just small little fixer uppers it is perfect for me. There is a rewards program so make sure you sign up and they have coupons that come in the mail in the Valpaks. A good place to shop and learn a little something. Don't just remember this place when a hurricane comes through and you procrastinated on getting supplies. Ace is a national chain but has that local feel of a neighborhood hardware store that has been around for years. read more

This little spot is a life saver! To be so small it has a little bit of EVERYTHING. Need a WIDGET? Yep. NEED A THINGAMABOB? maybe. Pros: - Convenient - Variety of supplies for all home needs - comparative pricing Cons: Too many associates for a store that small. Feels like a 1:1 ratio of helpers to customers. Irritating for customers like myself who know what they want and like to shop "unassisted" asking for help if needed. Still give it high marks for the convenience and high level of customer service read more

I always get more out of a trip to Ace than I expect. Today I went in for a screw and the staff, particularly Ken, went above and beyond to help me actually set up the equipment that I went in to get the screw for. I appreciate the amazing customer service and am happy to support the local business. read more

"Ace is the place with the helpful hardware man." Nope. Not PC. Can't go there. "Ace is the place with the helpful hardware folks." Whoever thought of this deserved to be fired. "The helpful place." Not bad, not bad. Popped in recently with the kiddos to pick up a few things for the house. I like to shop here when I can instead of forking over the dough to the Despot or Blows. There were two employees at the front who both greeted me and asked me if I needed any help. I knew what I needed to get and where the items were located, but one of the employees offered to carry my items to the front since I was holding Chickadee's hand and had Squeaker in the sling. In addition to picking up the items that I needed, I also wanted two copies of my house key made. The other employee said that he'd take care of that and have them waiting when I came up to the register. Love it! The personalized service was great. Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. I am happy to keep my dollars in the community when I can. read more

I much prefer supporting local businesses over chain conglomerate stores, so this is why I try to go to Ace/Odenton to fulfill any landscaping/gardening/hardware needs. I have always experienced staff that were eager to help, however, like many of the other reviewers stated, a lot of the staff are teens. If they can't help, then simply ask for someone who can. Some of the prices aren't as good as Lowes/Home Depot, but some things are comparable prices, so why not support the local shop? The store is cramped for sure, but if you know your way around, you can get what you need and get going easily. This is not a store for browsing. read more

I used to go to the store for hardware stuff especially when going to a home depot was miles away from me. They had the basic hardware and misc stuff, it's a small store crowded with lots of items. I bought windshield wiper fluid, salt for the snowstorm and surprisingly some durable serrated steak knives. Store with friendly staff. read more

The staff are friendly and accommodating. They greet you when you walk in and help you find what you are looking for so you do not have to wander around the store. I will always go there first before going to the big-box stores. read more

This is my go to place while at work to get small hardware needs for work projects. The staff is always very helpful.

You would think a place like this would not have as much as a large store but that is far from true. They have anything I have ever looked for except large appliances and such which is understood. Prices are very reasonable for example home filters are way too expensive at Lowes or HD, but the Ace brand is under $4. One last thing, they are always staffed with enough people to help out, however, once I was there and all the employees were chatting instead of helping me! One star off for that. read more

Staff is always professional and friendly. One of the few stores that still emphasizes the importance of customer service.

I got sick of driving all the way to Bowie to go to Lowes just to deal with an understaffed store, so I went here to see if they had what I needed. The moment I walked in somebody asked if they could help and walked me directly to what I needed. We were in and out in 5 minutes. The staff here is very helpful! read more

Very poor service. Ordered and item Saturday evening and was promised I could picked it up the next day (Sunday) as the site said it was in stock. The next day I called and was advised it was not there and would be on the truck the following Monday or Thursday. No apology was received. No empathy or concern either. In fact I was rushed off the phone. Poor customer service #1. Thursday came and no contact from the store. I called again and was told the item wasn't there or even showing it was shipped. I asked for it to be cancelled. The employee on the phone said it would be cancelled. Still no apology received (poor service #2). I kept checking the order status and my email periodically. I hadn't received any cancellation confirmation and the item was still showing as processing but I hadn't been charged anything so I just kept monitoring it. 10 days later the charge appeared (almost $300) and the item was still showing as processing. I called the store the next day again and they confirmed the item was not there still and not showing as shipped. I quietly let the associate explain what he thought happened and when he would stop I would try to tell him that the item showed in stock on the website but every time I tried he would talk over me repeating the same thing he already said until I had to sternly ask him to please allow me to finish. Again (#3), poor customer service not to mention no apology or any suggestion to make it right. Instead I was given the customer service line to call. When I call, I explain to that person how upset I was and he showed no empathy or concern. He told me he would have to contact the store to have the manager cancel it. Now why didn't the associate from the store have that done when I spoke with him? At the end, as I was still expressing how unhappy I was with the company and that I would not be shopping there again, I was still offered no gift card or coupon or sincere apology to make the inconvenience right. All the representative had to say was "ok" when I mentioned that something needed to be done to make it right or I would never shop there again. Clearly they don't care to retain customers and maybe I should have known better from my several visits to the store where I experienced rude customer service. Needless to say, I will never shop there again. read more

Perfect place for making any type of key. For two years (each year I have had to make a key copy for a different apartment unit) I have had to make mailbox keys here where Lowes or Home Depot could not. Great atmosphere and assistance from the staff! read more

This little store is one of the best! I support all local businesses all the time. I have never been disappointed in this Ace Store at any time. These types of businesses are far to few. To many have strayed away from what made our country great. And many don't really care. That is not until a 911 happens....they'll throw their American flag on their foreign car. Just because it's made in the U.S. doesn't mean the money stays in the U.S. The money finds it's way back to the country in which it came. Wake up America. My rant on U.S. Business ownership. I support you 100%. read more

Selection is limited but usually find what I need. And oh so friendly and helpful!!!!

Don't let the size of the store fool you...they carry just about everything. Staff is always available and very knowledgeable.

Store is small and selection isn't the greatest. But the staff is super helpful. Walk in the door and someone will ask what you need and take you there. Good with questions, knowledgeable staff. Far better than the 20 minute drive to get lost in a big box store. read more

After years of shopping here, I can honestly say that if its not a dire emergency (salt, quick projects that need to be done) then avoid this store altogether. The manager is absolutely unprofessional and it's very clear that he does not have good social skills. Customer service is excellent on a good day, depending on whose working. I've met some quite enjoyable people that work there, but it seems like most are high school just doing a part time job, and I have no problem with that. The items are way overpriced, and you pretty much paying the difference already instead of driving to a bigger store. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the Mom and pop store, but since the owner Danny took over, well.. it seems to have gone down hill. The store is one big gossip! They blatantly talk about commercial in there face and think we do not know!! I will only come to this place if I need salt, or in need of gardening supplies in a jiffy, other than that.. I'll take my business somewhere else. The owner Danny will find a way to rip you off. Heed this warning. I wish Danny's father would take the store back over.. read more

Wow, after reading some other reviews, I can see how out of touch some people are. Pricing is never a reason to visit any Ace hardware, or other small independent shops. This business has been here 90 years, and the staff is very helpful, UNLIKE the big box stores. This place also has odds and ends impossible to find elsewhere, i.e., specialty fasteners, parts etc. One cannot expect the young cashier or stock man to know everything. That is what the department heads and mangers are for. Odenton hires young people from the neighborhood, and has female managers in a business that is very male dominated. Like finding a Female Barber. The owner is family oriented and has some very long term employees. Stop in, have a look. Yes it is small but they have the same selection as other larger Ace's, minus some of the gifty stuff . read more

Great hardware store for basic handyman repairs or projects around the house. The staff is always helpful which makes up for the small store size. Save yourself the 25+ minute drive to the nearest big box store until you have checked here first. read more

I go here usually when its something small that i need, it is local and convenient. I will say the customer service is professional and they know their products and store well, I also like to support small local business. read more

This place is way over priced on the small amount of stuff they carry and the young kiddy staff are terrible. This store looks like it has not changed since the 1950s and survives just because it's located in the neighborhood. Go to Lowe's or Home Depot because they have a much greater selection and actual experts that will help you on your projects. Plus, Lowe's and Home Depot will give a 10% military discount if you ask for it. read more

This store only survives based on location. The place is tiny, and there's new staff in there every week or so. If you absolutely need something and they have it, then it's conveniently located, I guess, but pretty much anyplace else is better than this. I feel bad writing this because I do everything I can to support small businesses, but I honestly just can't think of anything else good about this place. read more

I've been shopping at the Odenton ACE Hardware for over 20 years. I have always found the staff helpful and knowledgeable. The few times I felt a junior employee didn't have the answers to my questions he/she cheerfully and professionally found a more knowledgeable staff member to assist me. I love Lowes but they are no match for the quick and customer friendly service at the Odenton ACE Hardware store. read more
