Although I usually shop Home Depot for my Do-It-Yourself (DIY) items, there are times where Lowes is a better choice. My impression is that HD is geared more for the pros while Lowes is more for regular consumer DIYers. So, I use their respective apps and check what they have for my projects. I find that Lowes is better for some of my projects. For example, I find a better selection of project boards like 2'x4' plywood in Lowes than in HD. Update after installs. I had a toilet install and a vanity install. While the customer service from the Lowe's reps themselves were great it was just a lot of confusion and calling different people to get the correct information when scheduling the vanity. Lowe's uses local companies in the areas and Lowe's then becomes sort of like the "middle man" at least that's what it felt like. We ran into issues when scheduling the vanity install and it took multiple trips to Lowe's and multiple phone calls to get the appointment. It was a lot of hassle that I prefer not to deal with. I thought going throw Lowe's to schedule install would make things easier, but after that experience, I feel as though it might be easier to purchase what I need from Lowe's and the hire people myself for the install. In the end the installation happened and I'm satisfied with the product but just wish I didn't go through the hassle of it all. Again the Lowe's employees were patient and kind so I really appreciate them. read more

Several renovations, over the last 14 months have necessitated us interacting with the paint department, many times at different times, and on different days of the week. I'd say approximately 15 times. Every single time our experience has been pleasant. The people that work in this department provide great customer service and they're always willing to answer questions and give advice. And heads-up to Loewes who has adequately staffed this department. The shelves are always neatly stocked. The paint chip samples are always in neat order. read more

We've often bought things large and small at the Severn, MD Lowes and have had good customer service. But this week we had EXCEPTIONALLY great service from Assistant Manager Breanna after needing to replace an 11 month old refrigerator we bought at Lowes last year. Breanna did more in 5 minutes to help resolve our problem replacing the broken frig than in the several hours we spent on the phone with the manufacturer. She was polite, helpful, made decisions quickly and in general has made me a Lowe's fan for life. Mike in the appliance department was also so helpful in the 2-3 visits we saw him - no pressure salesman who listened to what we were looking for. read more

I been shopping at this Lowe's since it opened for many years ago and it has been a good experience most of the time. Especially the plant nursery. Just went there today and all I can say is: TOTALLY DISAPPOINTING. Most of their plants are now highly inflated ( like most of everything else they sell since the pandemic) but it going from bad to worse. Most of the plants we were interested were highly priced and in very poor condition. Like the mandevillas. $37 for a one gallon plant and they all looked 1/2 dead! . How can Lowe's even expect people to buy this junk? We bought two canas for $25.00 and I even cringed at that price. They better figure out something at this Lowe's because they will lose customers selling these highly inflated plants. Went to the self check-out. A cashier waved me over, stating that she was open. She scanned my items and when I put my credit card in, the bill was $114. !!!! I looked at it. Clearly what I purchased was not $114. I exclaimed WHAT? $114??? She was immediately apologetic and called over a helper to rectify my bill. She had rung up a package of locks (which were not in my items of purchase.) These were $57. They did make it right, but I was really taken aback. I feel that this woman was intentionally putting these locks on people's bill and giving herself the remittence. I have not been back to Lowes in Severn. read more

Not a great experience so far. Pulled up for a curbside pick up and waited awhile. After no one came out I went inside to find 3 red vested folks standing around talking and one customer waiting on the bench. Since I had some additional items to pick up I thought why not just go grab those items since they don't appear to moving very quickly. I told them I was a curbside pick up (for a small heater) and that I was going to go grab a few items. I quickly grabbed them and went in Search of a checkout. The only thing open was the self checkout. Got there and had to wait for assistance with an item. The only associate working there was assisting another customer. While I waited 2 other customers also needed assistance. I commented that it looks like she could use some more help. She replied "no I am fine." You may be but the rest of us are sure waiting a long time to check out (I don't believe it was her fault just management not being to concerned about customers being able to speedily check out). Meanwhile I am waiting outside in my van once again for my curbside checkout item to be brought out..... once the wait has grown to 10" again I'll get out of my car again and go back inside. The lesson learned for me is don't shop at the Severn Lowes! The Glen Burnie store provides MUCH BETTER and FASTER customer service! read more

Love coming here to get my tools for my DIYs. I was actually in today for a return. As busy as I can be I was not able to return these 6 pieces that evidently did not go towards my DIY project. (I bought them in October of 2023). The cashier at the customer service area was being very complicated. Meanwhile, I had all pieces that were present on my receipt. I well aware of the return policy so I went ahead to bring it in. I present the receipt but the cashier was adamant and justifying that I did not purchase the items there since it wasn't coming up in her computer. She was going back and forth and not taking the time to look at what I had present. I was there for about 20 minutes ... usually this would be a quick and easy transaction but she was just not having it today. It wasn't until she called Ryan to assess the issue. Ryan was understanding and very patient with this. He looked at my receipt and looked at the product I was returning. He was able to get me out asap and I was able to return these items without any other issues or making me feel like a liar while having the receipt present for the return. Bottom Line: A nice Lowe's store that is fun to wander and daydream about renovating your home. What I like about Lowe's in general is that they carry more stylish stuff than Home Depot. For example, at Lowe's you will find art for your walls, more decorative light fixtures and a better collection of area rugs. One of my very favorite items at Lowe's is the Rev-A-Shelf pull out organizers that revolutionize kitchen and bathroom storage. Overall, this store is well organized and the staff is friendly enough. Here we go again. Lowe's disappoints. I find it more & more difficult to give my business to such a Lowesy (pun intended) customer service provider. You would think in today's situation (Coronavirus), businesses would step up above & beyond to accommodate their clientele, especially to keep business moving, employees working, and not allow this outbreak to get the better of you. I am not asking for them to go above & beyond. I just ask for normal quality service. For public safety and my own, I decided to order online some things I really needed from Lowe's. Granted, I could go anywhere else, but Lowe's is convenient. I waited my hour or so to allow my online order (only 2 items) to be fulfilled even though I needed immediately. The order process was very simple. An email was sent when my order was submitted. Another email was sent when my order was ready. When I think "ready" I assume it will be there when I get there. So, I drive all the way over to the Lowe's at this location. There was a long line waiting to get inside as a precaution (social distancing) as a result of this Coronavirus craziness going on. I was happy to know that I did not have to wait to get my online order. That was a separate line which was just me. Side note: I do recommend trying the online/curb-side options for any vendor with whom deserves your business. Anyway, I get inside, show the cashier my order number & ID. They tell me the item was not in stock! Online said there were 2. The email said my order was ready. Maybe I got the meaning of "ready" wrong, Bottom line: I should not have had to drive all the way over there, burning gas & time, and potentially putting myself at risk where I could possibly contract this horrible virus and bring it home to my sick wife and others in my household. All Lowe's could say is "Sorry"... They did nothing to try to make it right. This was a big fail, and the last time I used Lowe's, they damaged my countertops and a dishwasher attempting to install a new one. They also failed to make THAT right. It looks like Home Depot may be the lesser of these evils if I ever want to get household items ever again. read more

Do you like appliance installations that other professionals deem a fire hazard? Then this is the place for you. This has been a nightmare from beginning to end and all I wanted was a decent dryer but instead it's a nonstop nightmare of having to call this ridiculous store. They missed my first appointment for an installation, so I had to take off from work on the second day as well. The second time, the item arrived dented so we rejected the delivery. I called the store and they assured me they would have the warehouse manager open up and inspect the item before it left the store the next time they deliver it. So now, on the third try (yep, had to stay home a third time), the item shows up dented again and the box it came in had never been opened. In an effort to move on with my life, I accepted the order and we were told we would get a 20% refund. We paid $1,600, so the refund would have been nice but we never heard back from them again. Flash forward a whole two months later and I'm selling my home, but the inspector came back with ONE solid issue that requires a professional is all Lowe's work ***The hose they used on the dryer is a fire hazard and not up to code*** so I'll need to pay to have this replaced. I've called the store several times and get transferred to other departments. We are supposed to have someone come by and change the hose tomorrow but I haven't been able to get on the phone with a soul to confirm the time. I no longer live in the condo and don't want to show up and not have them show up - it's infuriating because I know I will have to go into their store and I was trying to avoid doing so with the pandemic upon us but I would really like to wrap this up so I can complete my home sale. I just wanted a nice washer and dryer, this whole process has been disgusting. Never again. read more

On April 20, 2023, I purchased a refrigerator for my elderly parents. When I purchased the refrigerator on Lowes website, I was given a delivery date of April 21, 2023 between 8am-8pm. Now, most places will give you a wide time range such as this but, will update the time closer to the date. Well, not in this case. The day of my scheduled delivery I waited around all day until about 5:30pm . At that time I decided to check the website one last time to see if there had been updates to the time range. Only to see nothing had changed. I then decided I would called customer service. That was a bigger joke!!! I waited 15 minutes on the line only to speak to someone and be told that nothing could be seen in the system. However, the representative was very polite and attempted to transfer my call to the store of purchase. Yes, attempted. When the call was transferred the phone rang for approximately 5 minutes and no answer. I tried to call 3 more times after that, same thing. Finally, I gave up at 7:30pm and decided to write Lowe's corporate office. Let's see if they actually respond. Well, it the next day and my parents refrigerator never arrived and Lowe's never updated the delivery status. So, o decided to visit the store where I made the purchase from online. What a mistake that was. Stood in the customer service line for twenty minutes only to be sent to the back of the store to the appliance department. Arrived at the appliance department and was told, you guessed it!! Go back to customer service. I get to customer service; for the second time to be told they don't know why I was sent back. Yeah, but I had a nice lady this time Terri I believe was her name. She was so polite and actually tracked down my order and apologized for the craziness. I asked to speak with the manger. The manager took his time and seemed to not care one bit about the lack of communication and horrible service. So, I say that to say this, be careful ordering from this location. read more

I am beyond disappointed with Lowes and the horrendous unprofessionalism. I had multiple issues surrounding the installation of a front door and storm door. The individual who came out to complete the estate from the Lowes store in Severn (Michael B), MD did a horrible job. Wrong measurements, difficulty getting in contact with, and even ordered the wrong materials. The actual installation (in Nov 2022) was the worst installation I have ever seen. There were huge holes in my floors, damage to the door, the storm door was installed incorrectly, and several other issues. I immediately sent in photos and requested help, it took my months of going around in circles without any help. At one point a "customer service" representative told me "well at least you have a door" ignoring the fact that the lock was not working on my front door. I filed a BBB complaint and then finally someone reached out to help. Her name is Jennifer C. However, it took months for someone to finally come out and fix the issue. Even still, there are issues with the door. Jennifer told me on several occasions that I would receive a full refund for the issues with the door, multiple days I had to take off work (and the workers were a no-show) and the damage done to my hardwood floors. When it came time for the refund they offered me a mere $200. I filed another BBB complaint and was very disheartened wit their lack of support (particular from Sandra of the North Carolina office). Without giving me time to talk to BBB about my options, Jennifer closed the case and would not return my calls. Lowes took advantage of me as military veteran, telling me that they would offer a discount for the services and that they valued veteran/military members as customers. Lowes should be ashamed of how they handle business and how they prey on their customers. The lack of accountability is atrocious, I will never shop at a Lowes again and I would highly encourage others to not as well. read more

When asked if he could assist me in plumbing, he NEVER looked up and simple stated "I work appliances" Didn't offer to call anyway or ask what I needed. This is a great Lowe's - the staff is very friendly and there are a LOT of them. I have never had any trouble find help in this store. I went there last weekend to buy a storm door...I needed it (my front door at home) measured first so the associate helped explain the process of having to pay ahead of time for the measurement and estimate - but you get most of that back when you buy the door...which is fair. When I returned after the measurement to actually choose and purchase the door, they were really busy. I think there were three people ahead of me so I went and did some other shopping. When I returned a different associate was there and he was really great. His sense of humor kept me laughing (there was enough paper work to rival that of buying a new automobile)! He took care of me and even though the place was really busy, he was patient and made sure not to rush until everything was signed correctly and clearly explained to me. He even walked me up to Customer Service to ensure the order was processed correctly. I saw the store manager several times as well - walking around making sure everyone was receiving the help they needed. That's a nice touch. read more

Lowe's I plan to cancel my Lowe's credit card. When I went to front desk after a pre approved credit check was done I went to the front desk at Lowe's and was told my credit card had been denied and that I was not eligible for the discount on my washer and dry. I was told I would receive a letter for my disapproved credit card because my credit was not good enough. Later I did receive Lowe's credit card in the mail and no letter. . I also checked my credit score and I had over 803 score on my credit report. I do not think I will be working with Lowe's anytime soon. I am very disappointed to be writing a negative review of my experience with this store. I shop there often and one of the reasons I do so is the knowledge and helpfulness of the personnel. Today, not so much. I went seeking to replace the blade on my bow saw or buy a new bow saw. I ended up talking to five people, none of whom could help me locate the product. It was clear that at least three did not know what a bow saw is. When one was asked where I could find bow saws and blades, she simply responded, "I don't know nothin' 'bout that" and went back to her shelf labling work in the tool department. Ironically, one of the people helping me later sought her advice. Her response to him was, "What's a bow saw?" One worker looked it up on the store's web site. It was there on the screen but he apparently didn't know where to find it or who to ask. Frustrated, I started to leave and decide to take a chance by looking in the outdoor equipment section instead of the tool section. I found what I was looking for there....in spite of the "help" from Lowes personnel. I will return to this location and hope that my previous good experiences resume. Lowe's needs to better acquaint its staff with inventory and its location and train them that, "I don't know nothin' 'bout that" is not an acceptable response to customer inquiries. read more

Do not use Lowe's for anything!!! I had a fridge installed a couple weeks ago and the two guys who installed it didn't tighten the water line connection tight enough. My whole basement got wet! The sub floors are soaked! All of my hardwood floors are warping and damaged. The worst part is that it took me days to even get a hold of anyone to talk to about this. Then they said they would call me soon to get a claims adjuster to my house. A week later nothing! I called corporate and they said they would have the manager call me today. Well it's been all day and no call! I am beyond furious. They will need to replace all my sub floors and hardwood floors. Untrustworthy workers and horrible customer service. just now My family's been a going here for almost 20 years now since I've owned my home. I bought tools, a privacy fence, stove, and dishwasher there. I tried to buy a shed from them most recently. The experience has been so bad though that I've actually had to get a full refund on the shed and I can't say that I'd shop here again. I realize it's out of their hands when it goes to a third party installer and that's who I've had the issue with but my money went to Lowe's and I expected them to handle it better than they did. I ordered a washer and dryer set for my new house on Saturday with the idea that it would be delivered on Monday. So I didn't go to work and waited for the washer and dryer to be delivered to my new house. I believe it was set to be delivered between 10am and 2:30pm. 2:30 comes and goes with no one contacting me to let me know what was going on. Around 3:30pm, I attempted to call the Lowe's in Severn for an update. The phone rang and rang and rang and no one ever answered. I was beyond frustrated, so I called the customer service line. A really nice lady helped me there at least. She said that she would call the store and see what the problem was and helped me track my delivery - since the website was showing "Your Delivery is Delayed" but gave me no more information than that. She connected with the store and they informed her that my phone number is wrong on my invoice - BUT my phone number was correct on the receipt I received and on my Lowe's account so I'm not exactly sure what or how that even happens. She said that because of my inconvenience she would give me 10% off my purchase and was extremely helpful. Not 5 minutes later I get a call from someone named Ted from the store. He basically tells me that since it was my fault (again, my number was right on my receipt) that he would not be honoring my 10%. I explained the situation and again he said that it was not their fault so they weren't honoring the 10% - I asked why he called then because it seemed as if he called to argue with me. I told him to go ahead and cancel the order because I would rather order what I needed from Home Depot - even though they were more expensive - because their order was on time. All of a sudden he could magically honor the 10%. He told me that he was worried that they may not add my order to the truck the following day because he would not be there though. Sure enough, I received a call from Lowe's this morning - this time it's someone named Ryan. He told me that my order was now going to be scheduled for Wednesday because IT WASN'T PUT ON the truck. I am beyond frustrated because at this point I've now had to amend plans for two days, and now I would have to do so again for a third. I asked the Store Manager to contact me and he said he wasn't sure he would because he wasn't sure of his schedule so I asked for the District Manager's number. He said he wasn't allowed to give it out - and suggested I call customer service. Since the store overrode customer service the day prior, I'm not sure how that would help at this point. So, I sleuth the DM's email and I even find the Regional Manager's email address, because apparently they like to post on Twitter. I email them to tell them about my horrendous experience. Several hours later, I still haven't received a reply from either of them. As a previous Manager of a retailer, I know you live on your phone, but I guess they were too busy to reply to me. Around 2:30, I get a call from someone named Chris - who says they are now going to deliver my washer and dryer TODAY. That would be great, except he tells me they are going to be there in a half an hour, ultimately inconveniencing me for a third time in two days. I had a contractor at the house who needed to leave, so I immediately packed up and left work AGAIN to receive the delivery. I get to the house about 15 minutes later. I wait and wait and wait. It's now after 3:30, so I call and ask to speak to Chris and I am connected with someone named Liam. He tells me the driver's were there and that no one was home. Absolutely impossible! I was there before my contractor left BUT even if I weren't they wouldn't attempt to call me to say they were at the house so I could tell them I was less than 5 minutes away. I'm guessing either the District (Laura Gibson) or Regional Manager (Benito Komadina) got involved and that's why my delivery was magically rescheduled - it is the definition of poor customer service, what happened to me. No response to my email, a surprise delivery in the middle of a work day, and still don't have my washer or dryer. Someone should attempt to make this right, but I'm guessing their leadership style probably doesn't lend to that. I honestly can't recall a worse experience than this one in a very long time. I don't blame any of the lower level store employees for this and mistakes happen - but the idea that making this right for the customer is surprising me in the middle of my work day with a delivery - yeah, that didn't work either. read more

Not all Lowes are equal. As a contractor I use lowes strickly for their 15ft length carpet which is not available in other distributors like home depot. It is the only thing I buy there. I almost always run into problems when trying to get someone from the flooring department to help me get the carpet cut. Either someone doesn't know how to use the machine, or simply doesn't want to. My trip there on Thursday was the best experience Ive had a a Lowes and I go to their stores all over the east coast. ACE was friendly, helpful and good at his work. Well apparently after talking with management they were swapping brands I guess that's a small downside of shopping big box retailers They didn't do their best to rectify the situation and found me a Lowe's not too far away that had some mastic but apparently all the loose stores are swapping from that brand so they are going to wait to put new inventory out I think it's kind of crazy but oh well read more

The checkout person informs me I have to register on lowes.com in order to receive the discount. Home Depot actually looks at the ID and gives the discount without having to be vetted by a commercial company. Will be taking my business there from now on. read more
