I needed to get some gorilla tape for a project but, I needed it to be clear. I looked online and it indicated that they sold it here. I popped in to pick it up. Asked the cashier where it was located and she politely told me. I was looking for it in the aisle. I didn't see it. Asked another worker who was stocking in the same aisle and she located it immediately. I was overlooking it. Shame on me. The price was $11.99. I am hoping this does the job. I was having trouble with my Ego grass trimmer. It wasn't feeding new line at all. I brought it in and Larry helped me. He made some phone calls to the manufacturer and learned how to properly wind the string on the trimmer. I brought the trimmer in again, and he wound the string properly, and sure enough, it worked. Larry was extremely helpful and made it clear he wasn't going to stop until I was satisfied. It is clear that he places a high priority on customer service. This man is a great employee. read more

I haven't been to Ace in eons! Like before 2013. It was great and felt so familiar being back. I need some gardening shears and stoped there after running to Giant and before going to the cleaners. It has such a nice, neighborly, friendly feel...and off-street parking!!! The best part is that Benjamin the Waverly Ace cat is still with us! Just as sweet as ever. Overall great experience. The associates were knowledgable and pleasant. I really appreciated not having to search high and low to find help. I am an out of town landlord and was in town and STRESSED, after a former tenant left my home in total disarray. I was only there for a short time and needed a lot of help. As a woman who is not especially handy, I often dread trips to the hardware store. I got all the help that I needed and when I mistakingly purchased the wrong products, returns were hassle free. EVERYONE at the Waverly Ace is GREAT. The young woman at the register knew precisely where to send me to find what I was looking for. When I came back to the registers with my purchase she was helping another customer -- not with a transaction so much as with a plumbing question. When another associate saw she'd be held up, he quickly came to the other register to speed me through. I went to find the floor manager to pass along my appreciation. Everyone is polite and helpful and seems to feel like it's a big deal customers are shopping in the store that employs them. How refreshing. I don't know how Ace finds and trains these great employees...but it's a model that should be replicated. read more

This is a great addition to the neighborhood. It's a shame how many resources are unavailable when you live in the City, but thank god for this Ace. I've been here several times over the years and they always have whatever items I need, from plants to spray paint to rug doctors to window film. This little store packs in a lot of supplies. Also, the staff is ridiculously friendly and helpful. You can tell they make an effort to hire from within the community, and that's always a plus for me. Staff ranges in age and demographics, but never in customer satisfaction. And there's a cute cat, so there's that lol. read more

The price is slightly higher than the big box type of store, but the coupons they send to their rewards members usually offset any slightly higher prices. The Love of My Life and I swung by here to pick up some potting soil for our window boxes; little did I know that they'd also have recycling bins, a decent stock of Craftsman tools, grills, and a ton of seeds for flowers, fruits and vegetables. And kitchen appliances and tools? I can't decide if this is a small neighborhood hardware store or a scaled-down version of Lowe's. Either way, we found exactly what we needed, and quickly. The staff were VERY pleasant and actually took the time to show us where things were located, ask if we needed anything, etc. Really, the staff actually blew our minds - I don't think I've ever entered a hardware store that had customer service like this (and that includes the big-box stores). A great addition to the Waverly neighborhood, which is in dire need of businesses just like this one. May actually consider coming here first instead of driving all the way out to the Lowe's in Catonsville. Also had a chance encounter with the Ace Hardware Kitteh. Sweet thing. :D read more

I love that this place is a local little shop! The people inside are super friendly and knows exactly what you need and where it's located. When I stepped in I was greeted at the door by a friendly face then walked to the location of the every item i needed. When asked for recommendations they were thoroughly explained to me and I walked away feeling confident. The store is on the smaller side so it's not going to replace my monthly trips to the larger hardware stores but it's great when I need to pop in and get something quickly. I would also recommend joining their loyalty program as you can earn money off future purchases. read more

Ok...I have only been here once, but my game plan is to continue. Here's why. Upon entering we were greeted with this huge smile, a welcome and are we looking for anything in particular. How fabulous is that? Although ACE Hardware is a chain, you would never know it at this location. Family and neighborhood oriented...they even have a shop cat (rescued from BARCS). Plus the shop resides in an old brick building, adding that much more character and charm. The location is small compared to larger chain hardware stores....so, although I found everything I needed, this may not hold true for everyone. The employees are resourceful, helpful and so kind. What they don't have they can probably order. I am an ambiance girl...small cozy places are what I like. First, I love ACE Hardware, but this specific one is shameful. I gave them 3 tries, all with the same results. To summarize, Each time: Products in the wrong place, carefully try to ensure that I have the right product...missing Id numbers, several problems making it impossible.. Get to the register...higher price. Correct item not anywhere on any shelf. 3rd time: Had to TRACK DOWN the manager, who is the only person in this tiny store who really doesn't seem to be doing anything anyway, who goes to "see if they have it", never comes back. Waited 10 minutes, found him next aisle over talking to another employee.."oh, i forgot", no apology, no move to complete request. Each time: items in stock, but similar products in their place, higher price. NO OFFER TO GIVE EXPECTED PRICE, just a shrug of his little shoulders.."I don't know what else I can do". This is one of WORST, price gouging, and rudest places I have ever been to. Not just hardware, but I mean of all time. This store sells everything inside of it for an exorbitant tax that I have never seen added in any product anywhere. Literally everything inside this store is a scam. Everything you need is constantly broken down to you like an ounce of weed, it's like you're buying every individual gram inside of it just to get the full ounce. You buy 4 inch ducting for $26 and it doesn't even come with clamps, amazing. The people who work there are disgustingly rude, you greet them and they just ignore you and say "Have an Ace rewards card?" You pick something up off the shelf that says $15, you bring it to the register to check out and now that item is $25. I hate this store, I hate the people in it, I hate it. Just go to Lowe's or Home Depot, you'll save yourself time, money, and patience dealing with these people. I go here for the convenience of it being so close to where I live, but never again. This. The customers are fine but the staff don't give a darn about social distancing and act like you are an idiot if you ask them to give you a bit of room. Frankly the store is just too small and the aisles too narrow to be safe. A to-go hardware store. The tall-lean guy (forgot to ask his name) at the hardware store helped me pick out the right screws for my license plate. However none of them fit in exactly. A good employee that he was, he then drilled the screws in! All this took almost 45 mins and he was patient enough to help me through. I always try to go Ace stores instead of big chains, and after having been to a few around Baltimore, this one is my favorite. The staff is really great. Most hardware stores will dog a female customer around and I HATE being badgered while shopping. Here, they will ask me once if I need any help and one "no" seems to be enough. However, if you do need help they know exactly where to find everything and always know at least the basics of what you're buying. They also have a nice plant selection outside with gorgeous window box plants. In short, I always find what I need and find the staff to be very pleasant. The staff here was very friendly and helpful. One staff member worked very hard to brainstorm with me the right equipment and strategies to use to go after an unorthodox job, one that had no set solution. Later, the owner himself helped me find an item that completed my purchase, and actually redirected me to the cheaper of the options, which he correctly figured would be good enough for my job. Overall the prices were fair, the staff were friendly, professional, and helpful. You can tell this is a close knit, locally run business. I just moved to Baltimore, but when I need stuff to fix up my new apartment (which needs some fixing here and there), I'll be back here to get it. read more

My favorite hardware store in Baltimore. Always friendly and helpful, the staff never let's you get more than five feet in the store before offering assistance. Finally! A hardware store in the city that's open on a Sunday. They greet you as you enter, they're animal-friendly (they even have a store cat!), and they have a decent selection for their size. They can also order you pretty much anything they don't have in stock. A great toy store for grown-ups. I really appreciate not having to truck out to the suburbs if I need to fix something. I would be even more appreciative if they'd stock more U.S.-made goods. Also, as MG has noted, they might not be able to help you with the how-to. (My experience was with trying to rewire a chandelier). But they definitely try to help--the customer service here is outstanding. read more
