Larry is the best! Not only did he solve my problem he did it for me! This is the best hardware store in Baltimore!

I needed to get some gorilla tape for a project but, I needed it to be clear. I looked online and it indicated that they sold it here. I popped in to pick it up. Asked the cashier where it was located and she politely told me. I was looking for it in the aisle. I didn't see it. Asked another worker who was stocking in the same aisle and she located it immediately. I was overlooking it. Shame on me. The price was $11.99. I am hoping this does the job. I went to the cashier to check out. The cashier was also polite. This was an easy, quick and fast process. Thumbs up to the employees. They even have security on site. She welcomed us as we entered. read more

Waverly Ace Hardware - Hardware Stores Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

Love this place. They have a little bit of everything like an old school hardware store should. And great service. You can actually find someone to answer a question if not like the big box stores. Great plant selection too! read more

I've been coming here since I lived in the area, and this was actually the first ACE Hardware I ever visited, right by Southside Federal Hill. Always a great experience. If I could give it 12 stars, I would! read more

I was having trouble with my Ego grass trimmer. It wasn't feeding new line at all. I brought it in and Larry helped me. He made some phone calls to the manufacturer and learned how to properly wind the string on the trimmer. I brought the trimmer in again, and he wound the string properly, and sure enough, it worked. Larry was extremely helpful and made it clear he wasn't going to stop until I was satisfied. It is clear that he places a high priority on customer service. This man is a great employee. read more

Went today to buy window replacement screen. Found with no problem but only 1 out of 4 items had price. Asked associate in aisle stocking shelves if he could give me prices. Told me no. 2nd bad experience here and will be last. Too many other options read more

I have been here five times now and every time the staff has been very kind and knowledgeable. They always have what I need and great advice on how to use or install it. read more

LOVE. 1) nobody talks to you outside of saying a friendly "hi" unless you want them to and then they're super helpful. 2) employee-owned!! And yay for Ben the store cat. 3) it's frankly super rare to go to a hardware store as a woman and not be patronized. I appreciate that nobody was condescending, which should be a low bar, but that's not been my experience in general. Thanks to the Waverly Ace for assuming I don't need to be rescued. Pro Tip) if you are like me and anxiety-search what you're going to buy just to be emotionally prepared for the process (I know, I know) don't count on the Ace website to be correct. (Pretty confident this is a Ace issue, not a this franchise issue.) Before I figured this out I gave the blue and orange big guys way more money than I wish I had because I thought Ace wouldn't have what I need. Don't be fooled, fellow humans with anxiety, this is your place. read more

I haven't been to Ace in eons! Like before 2013. It was great and felt so familiar being back. I need some gardening shears and stoped there after running to Giant and before going to the cleaners. It has such a nice, neighborly, friendly feel...and off-street parking!!! The best part is that Benjamin the Waverly Ace cat is still with us! Just as sweet as ever. I was in a bit of a rush so I couldn't stay long but I'll definitely be back soon, especially since spring is right around the corner--they have an impressive seed selection. read more

I consider this location to be my neighborhood store. The staff is wonderful. The plant selection out back is AMAZING. Everyone is super knowledgeable and willing to help. The store cat is a cutie. read more

Overall great experience. The associates were knowledgable and pleasant. I really appreciated not having to search high and low to find help. I am an out of town landlord and was in town and STRESSED, after a former tenant left my home in total disarray. I was only there for a short time and needed a lot of help. As a woman who is not especially handy, I often dread trips to the hardware store. I got all the help that I needed and when I mistakingly purchased the wrong products, returns were hassle free. The service went a step further. I had to compose an itemized material list for my property manager and lost all of my purchase receipts and John went above and beyond and got me what I needed. If you value service, quality, and a the willingness to go the extra mile, visit this store! read more

Nice store to shop at. Very clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. I appreciate the parking and convenience of being able to stay local instead of driving further away for the big box stores. read more

Neighborhood store ambiance with affordable national store prices. The staff are helpful and friendly and the selected covers all of my usual hardware and gardening needs. read more

Great local hardware store. The employees actually treat you like a valued guest, not just a transaction. They are knowledgeable and helpful and the product selection is wide enough that I usually can find what I need without a dreaded trip to the Home Depot in the 'burbs. There's a small parking lot but I've always been able to find a spot. Shop small and local and support your local hardware store! read more

EVERYONE at the Waverly Ace is GREAT. The young woman at the register knew precisely where to send me to find what I was looking for. When I came back to the registers with my purchase she was helping another customer -- not with a transaction so much as with a plumbing question. When another associate saw she'd be held up, he quickly came to the other register to speed me through. I went to find the floor manager to pass along my appreciation. Everyone is polite and helpful and seems to feel like it's a big deal customers are shopping in the store that employs them. How refreshing. I don't know how Ace finds and trains these great employees...but it's a model that should be replicated. read more

The customer service is excellent! Everyone who works there actually knows where everything is located in the store! And where to buy it if they don't have it! The customer service that you expect from Ace hardware. read more

This is a great addition to the neighborhood. It's a shame how many resources are unavailable when you live in the City, but thank god for this Ace. I've been here several times over the years and they always have whatever items I need, from plants to spray paint to rug doctors to window film. This little store packs in a lot of supplies. Also, the staff is ridiculously friendly and helpful. You can tell they make an effort to hire from within the community, and that's always a plus for me. Staff ranges in age and demographics, but never in customer satisfaction. And there's a cute cat, so there's that lol. read more

My local hardware store. I primarily go to buy refill cartridges for my soda stream machine, but will reliably buy something else while I'm there too. The price is slightly higher than the big box type of store, but the coupons they send to their rewards members usually offset any slightly higher prices. Plus, love me some Benjamin the Cat! read more

The Love of My Life and I swung by here to pick up some potting soil for our window boxes; little did I know that they'd also have recycling bins, a decent stock of Craftsman tools, grills, and a ton of seeds for flowers, fruits and vegetables. And kitchen appliances and tools? I can't decide if this is a small neighborhood hardware store or a scaled-down version of Lowe's. Either way, we found exactly what we needed, and quickly. The staff were VERY pleasant and actually took the time to show us where things were located, ask if we needed anything, etc. Really, the staff actually blew our minds - I don't think I've ever entered a hardware store that had customer service like this (and that includes the big-box stores). A great addition to the Waverly neighborhood, which is in dire need of businesses just like this one. May actually consider coming here first instead of driving all the way out to the Lowe's in Catonsville. Also had a chance encounter with the Ace Hardware Kitteh. Sweet thing. :D read more

Super helpful staff. The selection is decent, though not quite the same as a huge warehouse like Lowes. While I was there (15m) I had 4 people ask if they could help me. I had keys cut there, fast and cheap, and was able to pick up a bunch of things I needed. read more

Knowledgeable, helpful, and has some great ideas. I was impressed by the friendliness that greets you at the door when you walk in. They were extremely patient with me as I picked my paint colors and willing to help! Additionally, there is a little of everything that you could possibly need (including an extensive cooking/kitchen section). If you have a question about a home improvement project or just looking for a couple of nuts and bolts, this is somewhere I would definitely recommend. read more

95% of the time you are greeted in a non-annoying way and helped with finding whatever you need. The only downfall from 5 stars is selection. It's a small localish kinda place - but they could have more plants in the outside and a few more choices of welcome mats and that kinda stuff. read more

Ok...I have only been here once, but my game plan is to continue. Here's why. Upon entering we were greeted with this huge smile, a welcome and are we looking for anything in particular. How fabulous is that? Although ACE Hardware is a chain, you would never know it at this location. Family and neighborhood oriented...they even have a shop cat (rescued from BARCS). Plus the shop resides in an old brick building, adding that much more character and charm. The location is small compared to larger chain hardware stores....so, although I found everything I needed, this may not hold true for everyone. The employees are resourceful, helpful and so kind. What they don't have they can probably order. I am an ambiance girl...small cozy places are what I like. Plus, I have a thing for hardware stores (my dad owned a hardware store and I worked there as a kid) P.S.~ I was told by one employee that several other Ace city locations also have shop cats rescued from BARCS (local animal shelter) read more

I love that this place is a local little shop! The people inside are super friendly and knows exactly what you need and where it's located. When I stepped in I was greeted at the door by a friendly face then walked to the location of the every item i needed. When asked for recommendations they were thoroughly explained to me and I walked away feeling confident. The store is on the smaller side so it's not going to replace my monthly trips to the larger hardware stores but it's great when I need to pop in and get something quickly. I would also recommend joining their loyalty program as you can earn money off future purchases. read more

My man Bill was super helpful-saved me some money and gave me great advice on hot to accomplish my task. I highly recommend.

Best hardware store ever. Hands down. They stock anything you need those horrible big box stores do in a condensed neat organized place. The staff is wonderful and helped me out several times with their knowledge, taking the time to explain what to do and how to do it. They know their shit. (comical that another reviewer complained there was TOO much help - try and find somebody to educate and help you at the big boxes!) read more

First, I love ACE Hardware, but this specific one is shameful. I gave them 3 tries, all with the same results. To summarize, Each time: Products in the wrong place, carefully try to ensure that I have the right product...missing Id numbers, several problems making it impossible.. Get to the register...higher price. Correct item not anywhere on any shelf. 3rd time: Had to TRACK DOWN the manager, who is the only person in this tiny store who really doesn't seem to be doing anything anyway, who goes to "see if they have it", never comes back. Waited 10 minutes, found him next aisle over talking to another employee.."oh, i forgot", no apology, no move to complete request. Each time: items in stock, but similar products in their place, higher price. NO OFFER TO GIVE EXPECTED PRICE, just a shrug of his little shoulders.."I don't know what else I can do". I now go to SUBURBAN ACE in Cockeysville, EXCELLANT 5 Rating. Much farther, it's okay. read more

This is one of WORST, price gouging, and rudest places I have ever been to. Not just hardware, but I mean of all time. This store sells everything inside of it for an exorbitant tax that I have never seen added in any product anywhere. Literally everything inside this store is a scam. Everything you need is constantly broken down to you like an ounce of weed, it's like you're buying every individual gram inside of it just to get the full ounce. You buy 4 inch ducting for $26 and it doesn't even come with clamps, amazing. The people who work there are disgustingly rude, you greet them and they just ignore you and say "Have an Ace rewards card?" You pick something up off the shelf that says $15, you bring it to the register to check out and now that item is $25. I hate this store, I hate the people in it, I hate it. Just go to Lowe's or Home Depot, you'll save yourself time, money, and patience dealing with these people. I go here for the convenience of it being so close to where I live, but never again. This. Store. Is. Horrible. Do not come here. read more

I always try to go Ace stores instead of big chains, and after having been to a few around Baltimore, this one is my favorite. The staff is really great. Most hardware stores will dog a female customer around and I HATE being badgered while shopping. Here, they will ask me once if I need any help and one "no" seems to be enough. However, if you do need help they know exactly where to find everything and always know at least the basics of what you're buying. They also have a nice plant selection outside with gorgeous window box plants. In short, I always find what I need and find the staff to be very pleasant. There's not much else you need from a hardware store. read more

The staff here was very friendly and helpful. One staff member worked very hard to brainstorm with me the right equipment and strategies to use to go after an unorthodox job, one that had no set solution. Later, the owner himself helped me find an item that completed my purchase, and actually redirected me to the cheaper of the options, which he correctly figured would be good enough for my job. Overall the prices were fair, the staff were friendly, professional, and helpful. You can tell this is a close knit, locally run business. I just moved to Baltimore, but when I need stuff to fix up my new apartment (which needs some fixing here and there), I'll be back here to get it. read more

I'm so glad to have a nice hardware store nearby. The space was really nice, and the staff was helpful. I can't wait to go back!

Kudos to Paige for her patience and diligence as she helped me track down some weird exterior light bulbs and did her best to find out what kind of grass seed that I had purchased before by searching through their POS system. Really good stuff! read more

NOT WHERE TO GET HARDWARE DURING A PANDEMIC unless you want a dose of SARS-CoV-2 along with the screws and nails you were looking for. The customers are fine but the staff don't give a darn about social distancing and act like you are an idiot if you ask them to give you a bit of room. Frankly the store is just too small and the aisles too narrow to be safe. I wanted to give a local store my business but the staff and the size are just not what I need to deal with until this COVID-19 virus thing is over. They often don't have what I want anyway. So it's Lowe's with the wider aisles and the better selection or Amazon from now on. read more

Very well stocked, and the staff is super nice and helpful. They also have a resident shop cat!

A to-go hardware store. The tall-lean guy (forgot to ask his name) at the hardware store helped me pick out the right screws for my license plate. However none of them fit in exactly. A good employee that he was, he then drilled the screws in! All this took almost 45 mins and he was patient enough to help me through. Very friendly and helpful as well as extremely knowledgeable employees. Would definitely go there again if need be! read more

I LOVE my local Ace hardware. Best customer service - and happy NOT to be at Home Depot.

My favorite hardware store in Baltimore. Always friendly and helpful, the staff never let's you get more than five feet in the store before offering assistance. I bought a quart of paint for my banister only to realize I had selected something two shades too light. I brought the can back and they made it two shades darker for free, no problem. read more

Finally! A hardware store in the city that's open on a Sunday. They greet you as you enter, they're animal-friendly (they even have a store cat!), and they have a decent selection for their size. They can also order you pretty much anything they don't have in stock. A great toy store for grown-ups. I really appreciate not having to truck out to the suburbs if I need to fix something. I would be even more appreciative if they'd stock more U.S.-made goods. Also, as MG has noted, they might not be able to help you with the how-to. (My experience was with trying to rewire a chandelier). But they definitely try to help--the customer service here is outstanding. read more

I really enjoy shopping at this Ace store. You get to know the staff by first name and get wonderful customer service. They literally have everything on my list. How they pack everything into that space is beyond me. Even so, you walk in the front door and leave within two minutes. read more

I am the Maintenance Director at FutureCare Homewood. I came in this morning for an emergency purchase. Let me state this: I WILL MAKE IT A POINT TO GO BACK! The staff was awesome. They were attentive to every customer in the store. Great service is hard to find. Found it here. I told the shift supervisor how awesome everyone was. You all were seriously great. Thank you! read more
