While Ace is certainly a bit more expensive when compared to big box stores, the location is super convenient, the service is unbeatable and all the products I've ever bought have been high quality and worked exactly as I need. All....a weatherstripping and resilience success story! I am just back from errands. Am CELEBRATING that after a year or three, and countless trips to hardware stores, and purchases and YouTube's on weatherstripping my very poorly installed (by rental co.) back door ...about which I was close to despair, TODAY I girded my loins (to wax poetic) and did my homework, took lots of pictures and found a quiet morning to stop at my beloved ACE hardware store in canton. (Who it turns out hardly need my good review!) I asked for a staff person who might likely have the time and experience to help me with the weatherstripping AND with my cordless drill which I have dropped too many times and thought I might need to replace (had about four coupons ready!). Two young folks worked on drill and me for at least half an hour. Drill is fixed (a gift from oldchurch in Frederick) and I have a few more tricks to try that so far look good. Probably not over, but the moral of the story ....is a good one, eh??? read more

Ace is the place with the helpful hardware folks! This ace location has been around for years and I've been coming here at least for the past 10 years for the majority of my gardening and hardware needs. It's rare that they don't have what I need, but when they don't, they're very willing to order it and have it delivered. They have a reasonable selection of gardening equipment, and a reasonable selection of basic hardware. Obviously, even for a location as large as this one, it's not as big as one of the big stores, like Home Depot or Lowe's, but you can usually get what you need for most DIY projects. read more

Every time I need some type of something for the house, I just go here. I'm always welcomed and asked if I need help finding something. I describe what I need and there it always is in aisle whatever (they tell me exactly which aisle and where). The other day, they pointed me to where I needed to go and I decided to just walk around. It's so much fun to see their inventory. Basically if you need it for the house, they'll have it, with a smile! I always try to go here first, before going to that other place. The service is always better. The selection is usually just fine. Once in a while, there is some weird obscure hardware item that I have to go to the other place for. That's just life. They don't have infinite amounts of shelf space. I have found, however that their prices are often better. For example, I recently bought a pack of blade fuses. The other place, I happen to know, has a two pack for $7.99 and here it's a four pack for $6.99. read more

I ordered wipers online and they were ready for pickup in 12 minutes! I went to pick up the next day in store and they were super friendly and helpful when I walked in. An employee even helped me change them since I had never done it myself. read more

It's a 5 on friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The hours are also very convenient (usually open until 8pm Mon - Sat & 6pm Sunday). When we lived nearby, maybe 4 times out of 5 they had what we needed or could figure out a solution for home issues. The selection is well-chosen with a surprisingly large number of options -- of course it isn't the same as a huge warehouse, but items are easier to find here, especially with the awesome team working. Prices are slightly (not a ton) higher than online or big warehouse stores. They also have some fun random things, including locally-produced snacks. Never thought I'd enjoy visiting a hardware store, but here we are. read more

So this whole going to the hardware and fixing thing is all new to me. Home Depot sucks when you need help. I ended up here because they are one of the limited stores that sells Benjamin Moore paint. I go, I just know what color I want a specific Benjamin Moore. Everyone is super helpful and friendly. Very explanatory. I leave with my samples and some products. Fast forward to today. I go back to get my full size cans. Oh boy, they have popcorn on the weekends. Somehow I had two bags. I needed snacks while I got my products. Haha. This store is small, but they sell a little bit of everything. It's perfect for the area. I would go back again just for the customer service aspect of the store. Lump me in with the rest of the folks who love this neighborhood store! It's well-stocked, has not only home improvement stuff but decorative items too, and has an awesome cat (hefty tuxedo boy) named Dapper who goes with the flow and actually likes the dogs that come into the store. I've bought items as well as rented equipment, and the employees have always been knowledgeable and straightforward-- no sales pitches here. It's in a great location and has extended hours for when you need something last minute in the evening or first thing in the morning. It really feels like a welcoming neighborhood shop, and I plan to give them my business over other chains like Home Depot or Lowes whenever possible. read more

The marketing ad says it all: "this is the place with the helpful hardware team". This place is a neighborhood gem! Staff is incredibly helpful. I have been in over a dozen times, and have not had a bad experience. True, they don't have as big a selection as a Lowe's or HDepot, but they more than make up for it with service. When I am doing home projects, I do not need to make 3+ trips to the store. They help me get everything right...the first time. I'd gone past here a zillion times but a worker at the adjacent Dogtopia recommended stopping by. It is such a treasure trove, so many things you didn't know you needed! Also, the inventory of teeny specialized screws or bolts or washers is amazing. The workers were very friendly and helpful with my questions. They knew exactly which aisle to direct me to. Prices were fine. Parking, while I was there, was easy. The Dogtopia dogs were creating a ruckus from above! Part of the charm, perhaps? read more

They're the friendliest, most helpful and knowledgeable personnel in the industry. Not only that, but they are more than well staffed. You don't have to go hike a mile to find someone who then claims they don't work in the department you need help like Home Depot A staffer is always steps away at Ace. And you'd be surprised how many things they stock in such a limited space. My husband and I primarily go to the Canton Ace Hardware to play with Stanley. Buying hardware and any other items are secondary. Lol! We are huge Stan fans and he fills the gap of not been able to keep a pet cat since we live in a condo. We love him and the store employees are very friendly. Canton Ace Hardware is our to-go store for hardware items that cannot wait and are needed immediately/ urgently. We have uncountable items that we have bought from here- from paint to nails and candies to cream sodas. Our most memorable customer service moment was when they were able to paint match a Benjamin Moore shade with their house brand- their brand cost way cheaper than Ben Moore without compromising on the quality. Our home is painted with Ace Hardwares paints and we have received so many compliments. We are so glad to have this store in our neighborhood. read more

The absolute nicest and most competent staff. I had the best experience here when trying to hang some clothing bars and a wall shelf. The staff was incredibly kind and not at all condescending and gave me great advice. They walked me through what I needed to do step by step and pulled all of the hardware I needed. I love this hardware store. They're not as big as Home Depot but their selection is good enough that they should have anything a typical homeowner would need. Prices aren't always the absolute lowest, but they're never unreasonable and you're paying for much better customer service than you'd get at a larger store. By no means is this place as large as the Home Depot or lowes but it's incredibly well-stocked for its size. Recently we've picked up caribeaners, a new trash can, lawn chairs, outdoor light bulbs. But they have so much more! Need keys cut? Done. Need some plants for you planter? Done. Need some Adirondack chairs for your stoop? Done. Plus the usual basic necessities of a hardware store. Really fantastically stocked for a neighborhood hardware store! It looks small from the outside but don't let that fool you. And the people that work there are great: warm, hospitable, and knowledgable. Parking is always an issue in the city but they're conveniently located across the street from Safeway so that helps! read more

I manage an Ace Hardware in Groton, Massachusetts. Today I had a customer from Maryland who was visiting family, he asked how we had adirondack chairs when he has been looking for them at every Ace Hardware in Maryland. I called Canton Ace, spoke to the Asst. Manager, Jerry, and together we found chairs at the distribution center they use. Jerry ordered them for the customer, who was thrilled. Update: I have been to this location more than i should have due to a lot of unexpected maintenance work at my new house. Every time that I walk through the doors I am greeted with a very warm welcome from everyone that I run across and every single worker there offers to help you locate what you are looking for. This is some of the best and most consistent customer service that I have run across. Do yourself a favor and stop by sometime, you will be as pleasantly surprised as I was. It's great having this store so close instead of dealing with Home Depot when you just need something. I don't mind paying a few dollars more for the service and location. I can go in and quickly tell them what I need. And they take me right to it and give me advise. I will always pick up small things while there including a plant from outside section. I even bought an electric pressure washer from them. I am so glad they are there. I rarely give 5 stars for anything. The inside of this Ace looks different than most, but I assume its a privately owned Ace. All in all, I can appreciate that its smack-dab in the center of Canton... making it easy to find a quick fix of hardware. Immediately upon entering the store I was greeted by an associate who was more than willing to help me. He walked me to all the ends of the store and got me the items I needed and then rang me up at the register. I always used to go across town to the Home Depot for everything, but now I don't have to! Ace Hardware is a little hidden, which is why I didn't realize it was there until recently. They have a great selection for any of your household needs, but what makes me want to come back to Ace each time is their customer service. You get a warm greeting when you walk in, then if you are walking around looking for something, someone will always ask if they can help you. Rumor has it that there was also a fire at a conjoining business and the staff of Ace went and helped to make sure all of the dogs got out of the building safely. Such caring people! They also have a cat in the store that just lounges around usually around the cash register. He might own the store, I'm not positive though. read more

Every time I go in the staff here are so helpful. Whether answering questions about how to get rid of flies or which is the best anchor to use in my drywall, they seem to know it all. And even when they don't they make up for it. I went in recently to have some paint matched for a patch job and when I got home the paint was a little too light. I brought the paint back hoping for a different sample. After talking with the salesperson we realized that the sample I had was as good as it's going to get. And rather than say oh well, rather than giving me a credit to the store, they took the paint back and gave me a full refund. Seriously....how awesome is that? read more

Yeah, they're a brand name, so perhaps it's not the truest form of a mom and pop shop, but the friendly, helpful nature and knowledge of the staff, the efficient usage of a smaller space, and somewhat unassuming location remind me of the hardware stores my Dad would take me to when I was little. The kind that would keep candy for the kids, so you could rev up a mini-sugar high before getting lost in the aisles of whosits and whatsits. After several good experiences at this Ace, varying from flower shopping to light bulb replacement, I've knighted it my go-to for all things household. read more
