A recent project showed that this place charges roughly double what Home Depot would for the same materials. Some cheaper options they don't carry, and they will inform you those options don't exist. My project cost worked out roughly as follows: Amazon: $6 Home Depot: $20 This place's "help": $51 and counting. Not counting until the project was completed, mind you. Just until I gave up on them. read more

We love this place! We always get great service, advice and so helpful! It's a cute hardware store.

As a handyman I'm often needing to pickup last minute supplies for a job. Ace is perfect for this as they are convenient, reasonably priced, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Ace is a valuable part of the neighborhood and I'm very glad to have them here. read more

Unlike the first time I visited, this time the customer service was great. I was greeted pleasantly as soon as I walked in. The cashier asked if she could help with anything. I asked my question and she directed me to the correct location to pick up an wall outlet cover. The same friendly cashier checked me out and I was happily walking back to my daughter's residence within 10 minutes of entering the store. read more

Federal Hill Ace Hardware - $1.39. - Hardware Stores Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

If you live in the Baltimore area today I would rush over to the Federal Hill Ace Hardware Store ASAP. Today is the last day of the Garden Party Sale! Everything in the store is 20% off! You can find just about everything you need in this employee owned Ace. Plants, outdoor furniture, paint, tools, snacks, pillows and much more. The staff here is amazing! No competitor can touch the level of knowledge and customer service the employees bring everyday. Jennie helped me pick out this amazing hanging chair and planters for my outdoor space. Oh, did I mention they deliver!?! read more

Always helpful staff that you can actually find versus the larger mega stores where there is never anyone around d to ask for help

Stopped by after seeing all the beautiful plants outside. I decided to pick up a few things for mo house. They have just about every appliance you could think of for a home DIY project. I also picked up an Aloe plant since they were having a sale on their indoor plants. Great location and great customer services. I did not need help but I saw some employees assisting other shoppers. They seemed very knowledgeable about where everything. read more

They always have everything I need. Super friendly people and they have a good selection always. I feel the prices are reasonable. I like the customer service, always willin to help. Highly recommend this place read more

They stock a good selection of tools at prices slightly higher than Home Depot, and the manager is very knowledgeable about every item in his inventory. read more

This particular Ace Hardware is close to my place, and much closer than the nearest Home Depot or Lowe's. While much smaller than either of those places, I feel Ace has just as good offerings and much better customer service. It's always neat and clean in there, well lit, with well marked aisles. I'd gone in to have some keys made. I was greeted by Ace associates as soon as I walked in the door. I headed for the back where keys are made. Another associate immediately stepped up, took my keys and placed them in some new-fangled key making machine. As I stood there, I remembered another item I needed but had no idea where it would be in the store. I mentioned it to the associate and she took me to several aisles to find the best product for me. I picked one, for my new keys, thanked her, and headed for checkout. Checkout was a breeze and all told, I was in the store less than 10 minutes start to finish. Always a good experience with Ace! read more

I love coming here. They always have the items I need, and the staff are exceedingly well trained and can direct me to the exact location of the even the smallest item. The staff members greet you and ask if you need assistance when you walk in. It is not like the big box chains where it is next to impossible to find an employee willing to help you. read more

Some of the friendliest and knowledgeable staff, being community owned this really feels like a local mom and pop store. They have everything I need, a quick walk away in the neighborhood, and quick to order online for bulk items that aren't already in the building! read more

I came in to get some custom paint samples and the staff was just as nice in person as they were on the phone. They were patient and knowledgeable. What I loved the most was I heard one staff member tell another over their headset they were unable to greet customer. It was like we are that important they want to acknowledge us. Great customer service and cant wait to return. read more

I am ashamed of myself for not writing a review to my local ACE sooner. Thought it was already done but better late than never. This ACE is amazing, and probably one of the only businesses in the city I walk into and KNOW someone will be there to greet or direct me. The staff and management here are on point, and it seems the employees are actually trained in many different areas. I've had plumbers and electricians who work here help me with my various project item lists and what not. Being a first-time homeowner over the last year or so I've been in here more times than not. If you go here a bit and haven't signed up for their membership plan then def do it. They send up coupons in the mail all the time (cash off sometimes, not always just promo. Keep it up ACE Team! read more

THE CAT IS THE BEST PART OF THIS STORE. Sure, the store is convenient, well-stocked, and clean. And sure, the employees are awesome and incredibly helpful. But screw all that. This. Store. Has. A. Cat. He's like Tim the Toolman Taylor in cat form. A cat who watches you shop and silently judges you as you pick out the entirely wrong roller brush for the job. THERE'S EVEN A CAT TREE. I AM LITERALLY SHAKING WITH EXCITEMENT read more

I recently moved, but the trip to this Ace Hardware is totally worth it! Plus, there's free parking in the small lot next to the store. Every time I have gone in I am immediately greeted and asked if I need any assistance. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. And the store kitty is a sweetie! I love looking for him every time I stop by. The store also has a great selection of everything you need (and stuff you didn't come for, but end up leaving with anyway). Only complaint is about the plant selection. Some of the plants look like they've seen better days, so you really gotta search through until you find the perfect one. And I know there's complaints about the key cutting services, but i've come twice to get a key cut and they've worked both times. Also if you check in on Yelp you get a free key! read more

Federal Hill Ace Hardware - There's a store cat! - Hardware Stores Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

This is a .....HARDWARE STORE? WOW. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted. The store is filled with something for everyone. Lots of sales, lots of unique things....and standard things you find in a hardware store. We got a rake, and some paper bags for putting the leaves in from the backyard. As I was walking around I saw a cat condo with wet food and water. I asked if there was a cat. (I think an odd question to ask in a hardware store). I was told there was, and his name was Decker. Why a handsome boy. I mean a cat that greets customers and gets to do whatever he wants in the store. ROCK ON DECKER!! Check this place out!! read more

I can't believe that I am actually reviewing a hardware store but I just had such a great experience I felt compelled. I have not been to this hardware store in over a year, and boy has it changed! They have added an entire new room, transforming this space into something much more than a hardware store! They have crafting supplies, bathroom decorations and necessaries, totes, towels, and so much more.... This is my new homedepot/Lowe's/hardware/craft/target store! The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and eagerly helpful. read more

I absolutely love this store. The staff is friendly and helpful. They have everything one would need in one stop shopping. I love to stop in here just to browse and end up always picking up something for the home. It's an awesome store. Fed Hill is lucky to have it in the neighborhood. read more

This Ace Hardware store caught my eye when I was walking in Fed Hill. They have a variety of plants of all different sizes. They also have a decent selection of pots as well. I thought that these were a little overpriced. The employees were very friendly and asked if we needed any assistance. One in particular saw I was interested in the plants and told me about an upcoming event the store is hosting. Ace is hosting a terrarium making event this Spring and they have all of the supplies necessary in this store. I didn't realize hardware stores would host these types of events! I also gave them my information and get sent great discounts and coupons in the mail! read more

Matt and the staff at Ace are incredible. They have consistently gone out of their way to give exemplary service. Even if I move out of the city this will be where I'll come back to. read more

I have been living in this neighborhood since September and have not had a bad experience! They even have theme parties with 20% off sales quite often. Everyone is always nice, knowledgeable and professional. Thank you, guys! It's always a pleasure to shop with you! read more

I never imagined I'd review a hardware store. I'm not particularly handy. But regardless of what they sell, they just don't make places like this Ace anymore. It definitely has the mom-and-pop, five-star, local service aspect that you just don't find at big box stores. I actually bought a gas grill here after shopping around at Lowes and Home Depot. Ace was selling the same grill here for about $75 more than any of those stores, but I went with them anyway because the level of service they provided was outstanding. They answered all my questions and were so friendly. This isn't unusual; it happens every time I come in, whether I'm just looking for a light bulb or need a key made or whatever. Plus, they always have dog treats for my dog, so he's always eager to shop there, too. read more

Friendly staff who great you when entering, offer assistance and thank you for coming when you leave. Compared to the Ace in Canton this location in Federal Hill has a much larger selection of plants and pots. For the plants there was such a variety and in good condition too. I'll definitely be coming back to this location for plants and house items. read more

I needed your basic Rubbermaid plastic storage bin that used to be sold everywhere, but I can't find anywhere these days. I thought for sure Ace Hardware would have it! I walk in and am greeted by an older guy, and immediately see what I'm looking for. As I approach, I realize the bins are up high on a shelf so I go back to the guy and ask for help. Two workers are dispatched to help me, and while they find the ladder I get to pet the friendly store cat. Bonus points, there. Checkout is quick and easy. The cashier asks if I'm a rewards member and I said I didn't think so. I pay and leave. I realize later, I might be and wish (the cashier or) I would have thought to ask how it is I figure out if I'm a member. So, one star off for that. Otherwise, a successful trip. read more

I really wanted to see this store succeed. Baltimore needs more retailers within walking distance, so I've tried hard to shop at Ace Hardware instead of getting in the car and driving to Home Depot. Sure, the selection is smaller and the prices are higher, but I tried to convince myself that supporting a local business was what was important. Then on Sunday, I needed a squeegee to wash the windows on our house. I stopped in and bought one at Ace, took it home, and on the second window the handle broke in half. Cursing the cheap tool, I fixed it with duct tape and finished the job. And sure enough, by the next morning, the metal part of the squeegee was covered in rust, even though I had set it to dry on a windowsill. I took it back to Ace today, with the receipt, but instead of an apology or any form of concern for the customer, I was greeted with hostility by two clerks who refused to believe that the tool could possibly have broken or rusted in the time frame I described. Worse, they didn't have anything with which to replace it. I'm through with this store forever. As much as I hate to drive out to Home Depot, at least there I find a staff that is trained and, for the most part, cares about the customer. They also sell quality products, unlike Ace, which seems to have outsourced all of its product manufacturing to the lowest bidder in China. We need retail in the City, but we need GOOD retail. I'll be happy when Ace Hardware is replaced by a business that is smart enough not to alienate a customer over a $6.99 squeegee. read more

Great place and convenient if you live in the city. They sell just about anything you would need not just paint and nails. The workers are really friendly and (at least seem) really want to help you out. It's a place you can be in and out in a few minutes. They also have a cat that lives there. He doesn't bother anyone, in fact I've only ever seen him sleeping or not at all. read more

This is one of the nicest hardware stores that I've been in. Not only is it a hardware store, but it is so much more. You can pretty much find everything. If you don't live in the area and are worried about parking, don't they have a small parking lot of customers. The service also in there was very nice. The two men working were helpful and super friendly. It's not 5 stars because the prices for some items were a little high. I would expect that because it's almost a convenience fee but that doesn't mean that I have to like it. read more

My first experience: I was greeted as soon as I walked in by a sales associate who asked what she could help me with. I told her what I needed and she directed me to the correct aisle. Before I reached the back of the store another employee greeted me and helped me select exactly the product I was looking for. It's rare to find customer service this good. This store has become my family's go-to for home improvement and upkeep. They have been very kind and accommodating to my grandmother. Also they have a cat! read more

Independently owned and operated, this is the best place to get your hardware without crossing over to the County. The staff here will help you find anything and the store cat will make you feel at home. Also there is a great selection of live plants for your office or garden. +1 star for the best "vintage" soda selection I've ever seen. Cheerwine? Faygo? Vernors? They've got it all. read more

What a great local hardware store. Employees are so knowledgeable and helpful and they reliably have the best items in stock. They had coronavirus supplies (hand sanitizer, paper towels, masks, etc.) long before anyone else in the area did. My go-to! read more

This is one of my favorite places in my neighborhood. The staff are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable.

Bad day today at Ace Hardware in Federal Hill, Baltimore MD. Here visiting for the summer. Yes, found what I was looking for but without much help. I was 4th in line @ the cashier. Clerk wore a button stating she was new and in training. She used her mike to ask for help up front when she saw us all waiting. Help never came! Disappointing. read more

I must say that I've only ever had trouble with one employee here- everyone else has been super helpful and friendly. Great people! The reason for the 3-star review is the same as the reason I'm reviewing at all: their key counter. Do NOT get your keys cut here. I don't know if it's a training issue or a machine issue (a professional locksmith suggested to me that the problem might be failure to regularly calibrate the machines), but I have been to this place three times in the past year to get new keys cut, and they were never, ever right on the first try. Most of the employees were nice about apologizing and making new copies, except for the one idiot who tried to convince me that the problem was the lock which worked perfectly with every key but the ones they cut. I kept going back because this place was the closest and most convenient. But it becomes pretty inconvenient when every key cutting involves a second trip back to the store for a recut! Yesterday I had a set cut, tested them, drove back for replacements, tested again- and the second set was bad too. Went to a real locksmith and got perfect copies on the first try. I'm done. I'll stop in to Ace if I need to buy a tool or a part, but I'm never taking keys there again. read more

I adore this Ace. I always get great service here, and they're dog friendly to boot -- a nice bonus since most customers walk to the store.

Super friendly. Help me re-string my screen for a kitchen window $34. They were very helpful and I'll be back for basic hardware stuff based on the service alone!! Also, they have parking - which is not easy in fed hill read more

This particular Ace Hardware is one of the friendliest places I've gone to get basically anything you need. Their expansion has made it even better. We had a workshop recently in the back where there is a conference room with big tables that you can rent for many different occasions. The managers and staff were extremely accommodating. I would go back there for anything that I need that they sell, and that is a lot!!! read more

Well Service is Good, but the prices are CRAZY!!!!! It's great if you're in desperate need of something and doubt feel like running to The Big Stores! read more

The BEST customer service in BMore! Whenever I go there are at LEAST two of the employees inquire whether I need any help (95% of the times I do)! When something breaks in the house or I need that specific tool, this place has what I need. It is slightly more expensive then the big box stores, but if you get the Ace Rewards card, the points/rewards add up quick so it is not that expensive. I PREFER this Ace over the big box stores given the stellar service and convenience. There is also ample FREE parking which is a plus in the Federal Hill area. Lastly, the store is DOG friendly---they usually give my rambunctious dpg a treat. read more
