One was during a kitchen faucet install; the new faucet's water lines were too short to reach the supply valves. The other was in the middle of a yard clean-up project that created a lot more brush and yard waste than I thought it would (and exhausted my supply of yard bags). A short walk to Belle's in both situations and I was back to work. The prices at Belle's are a bit higher than what you'll find at Home Depot or Lowes, but for me the extra cost is offset by the close proximity and helpfulness of the staff. There's something nice about walking into a hardware store where the aisles are narrow and are stacked floor to ceiling with products personally chosen by the owners after years of serving the neighborhood. For bigger projects, obviously, Lowes or HD will be a better deal and will give you more options in terms of various types of tools, hardware and other products, but as a local hardware store, Belle's really hits the spot.

On my way home, I drove past Poplar Place hardware store and made a u-turn (illegally?) and pulled into their parking lot. I was in there for a few seconds and was able to find one of the pieces I needed. I walked to the counter and told the man in terribly inaccurate terms what I was trying to accomplish. He said "oh, sure!" And walked to their vast collection of adapters and brought me exactly what I needed. I am never going to any of the monstrous stores again. All hardware needs will now be taken care of at Poplar Place hardware. They are knowledgeable. The store is well stocked and clean. And their prices are competitive.
