I have used the Stone Store many times over the past several years. The service people are excellent and take their time to help you understand and get what you need for your job. The selection is excellent and the best in the area. They delivery quickly and are always prompt. They call ahead, like they are supposed to do; no accidentally coming early or late. First off the staff was very helpful and friendly, they chatted with us and even talked with my kid and gave him free popcorn. The price for the rocks I wanted was reasonable. These guys are wonderful. My wife and I have never ordered stone before, so we made a call, and had a ton delivered the next day. Upon arrival they made sure they were putting the pile in the correct spot, and they also provided some recommendations for the job we want to get done, which is a problem with rain washing out an area behind the house. We are both totally impressed with both the prices, and service. I hate to say it, but in this area, if you don't check yelp, you have a roughly 50/50 chance of getting ripped off. In my opinion, this is a good store with good selection and prices. Specifically, I have purchased river rock from here, river pebbles, stone like what would be for a driveway, and other types of stone for drainage. I think they are a lot cheaper than the local big box store and have a better selection. For example, I think I paid about $46 a ton for some small river rock at the stone store. This is basically enough to fill the back of a pickup truck (or my utility trailer). I estimate that the same quantity would be about $160 at a "big-box" store. So, it seems like buying in bags from the big-box store is about 3-4 times the price. The stuff I purchased was by weight, so I told them what stone I want and they weigh my SUV before and after I load up. They dumped stone in my small trailer, but also have let me fill up some buckets to put in the car. Some potential negatives: The pickup area is very muddy so you might be going to a car wash if it rained recently. Second, for a really big project, someone should probably price out a quarry, but that is probably going to have less options. I think that is usually when people want a dump-truck load. Also, as opposed to the rock, the mulch prices did not seem much better than buying bags from a hardware store. read more

Worst experience EVER. My son went to buy 4 bags of white rocks. The store gave him orange rocks. When he took them back, the store recognized it was their fault but still charged a 25% restocking fee and then mail us a check for the rest in SEVEN weeks. They screwed up and it cost us $15. I don't understand what the negative reviews are about. When I came here, I was immediately helped by a salesperson. They were very friendly, knowledgeable and saved me a lot of money. After I placed my order for delivery, I ran into an unexpected problem at my house. I called to change my order and they were very accommodating. They have a better variety of rocks than your local home depot or lowes. In fact, I came here because home depot and lowes didn't carry the rocks that were allowed by my HOA. As for pricing, it's cheaper if you buy in bulk and use your own truck to transport. It's that simple. Great place for landscaping stuff if you ask me. read more

My wife went inside to see if he could come out and help us with a product we found and did not want to come outside to help. They are definitely more expensive and we knew that going in. Very cool place to go and get ideas. They have unique landscaping products that you can hardly find anywhere else. Wide variety of stones for all sort of projects. My only problem with this place is that their prices are very high compared to some other stores. Price around thoroughly before purchasing at the stone store. A lot of their veneer stone takes 1-3 weeks to get in, where other companies have it in stock for a lower price ready to go. read more

My husband, who owns a tree and landscaping company, called twice in a week to get a quote on stone for a large project. He left a message with the person who answered, gave all his information including what exactly he was looking for. It has been over a week and he still has not received a call back. What the Stone Store does not tell you is that if you bring your own bags/buckets and fill them yourself, they charge less. A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT LESS. For example: buy 4 bags of stone using their bags and they fill them, the cost is about $60. However, buy four bags of stone using your own bags and you fill them yourself, the cost is $6. Yes, SIX DOLLARS. A difference of $54. They don't offer you the option when you make your purchase, they just take your money. I would say rip off but it's more like highway robbery. They should be ashamed of doing business that way. No doubt they'll have some explanation they think justifies their actions but no explanation justifies taking advantage of customers to the tune of 1000% markup. Despicable. read more

Don't buy firewood. I was promised two cords of seasoned, ready to use hardwood. What I got was mud caked, mosquito infested, rotted out wood -- some of which was too big to even put into a fireplace. I called right away and it seemed they were going to make it right: they admitted the wood was too dirty, that they stored the wood on the bare muddy ground, but didn't have anything clean enough with which to replace it. I offered to eat the delivery cost ($250!) if they would just take it back and they agreed. That was almost two weeks ago. Now they won't tell me what they will do and are not being responsive. Terrible wood, even worse customer service. Be smart and avoid their "firewood." If I could give zero stars I would. read more

this place does good work, but their business ethics are questionable. first i wanted my front steps and columns next to the front door done in stone veneer and also a retaining wall in front of the house. i went over what i wanted numerous times with the salesman and received an estimate that i agreed to. well after going over again with the salesman what i wanted done before the job was to start, i was informed that he didn't include the columns into this estimate, and that would cost more. ok, no problem maybe this was just an oversite. then the work started on the retaining wall and i noticed it didn't run has far has we had talked about. after mentioning this to the salesman, i was informed again, i didn't know you wanted the wall to go that far. that will be more money. the part of the retaining wall in question was a extention on a 45 degree angle. it was four feet long and was to be dug into a hill. it took six cinder blocks and was two ft. high and took about 20 minutes to add and i was charged 800 bucks. what are you supposed to do after a job starts and you need it completed? i hope the money was worth it to them because i had about 15,000 dollars of more work they were going to get, but now that business will be going elsewhere. read more
