Steps diagnosed my range's issue (neither the stove nor oven would turn on), ordered a part for me, then came back months later to install. They got the stovetop to work, but the oven was still dead. Tech said he needed to order another part. As time passed, he said the item was on back-order (for brand new range)... After while, the tech (collins) was no longer at Steps. Owner -Deo - said he believed the appliance was fixed, no further info. I said - What about my oven??? He said call Unique. Unique said Steps reported the range to be working. I was given a list of service repair companies that could service my beverage refrigerator. The first place I called, even though 8 miles away, said they didn't provide service in Virginia. So, I called Steps, virtually the same 8 miles away, kindly set up my appointment for the very next day. Then Collin came to the house, and he was amazing. Kind, thorough, and was super gentle when he broke the news that I needed a new fridge. From the first call to the service it was nothing but a wonderful experience. I called Steps out for a dryer that was running but not heating. They were very responsive - I called on a Friday, they came out on the following Monday, and the parts and fix was done by Wednesday. It was a great experience with their rep Terry, who was professional and kind throughout his time working with me. He gave me a straight diagnosis - thermostat and heating element needed to be replaced - and then sent me a quote via email. I did like that all of the appointments and documentation were available by text and email. Highly recommend. My dryer was malfunctioning. I called several appliance companies and either didn't hear back or they said they didn't work on dryers. Steps was responsive and called me back right away. The technician arrived on time, was courteous and diligent, and solved the problem! Steps sent a Repair man to fix my Samsung Refrigerator last week on Wednesday and Thursday (the repairman didn't have the part and had to come back the next day). On both visits the repair person was late (well after the scheduled window). A week later: 2 emails and 3 phone calls I can't get anyone to talk to me. My frig is still not cooling. It appears that Steps Appliance is happy to take your money one time.....but they don't stand behind their work or value customers. I can NOT recommend this company. read more

Very unhappy with the service. Came for an issue with our refrigerator/freezer. After technician came for diagnosis, the freezer door did not shut properly and a bunch of the contents thawed or melted before we realized. When we called about it, they said it was like that when they got there. But none of our food had ever melted or thawed before. They did not come back for another week, in which we had to tape our freezer shut. When they fixed the original problem and the door, the light switch broke literally as they were walking out of the house. Weird coincidence? They again denied responsibility and tried to charge us to come back out to repair it. read more

We have had them service us a couple times. Every time service has been quick and reasonably priced. They were even willing to adjust price when we attempted to fix our dryer ourselves first but couldn't manage to fix the issue. They have come to service our washer recently and instead of telling us how much it would cost to repair they also gave us options and advice on what we should do. Very knowledgeable and professional. So far every technician we have had has been great. He even took his shoes off before coming in our house, very considerate! read more

My refrigerator stopped working and I looked up a repair company online. One company said they couldn't come out for another 2 weeks. I called Steps and they were out the next morning. They diagnosed the problem and ordered the parts. Godwin promptly came and installed the parts. He was careful to make sure the area was tidy. Had a technician come look at our washer/dryer as part of our home warranty. First technician cleaned out a bunch of lint, and the dryer worked "better", but still would take 3 runs at 1.5 hours each to get dry. Second technician came, said it was just old (15 years old) and needed to be replaced, but then went and told our warranty company that nothing was wrong with the units! I complained and they sent out the manager, who just came by and told me that my dryer is working fine even though it's not. He said I need to open the ventilation duct, even though the exhaust wasn't connected to the duct the past month and the unit didn't work in all that time. He told me the other technicians who came weren't as experienced as him, implied that I must be lying about my daily experience of the machine's use, that there's nothing wrong with it, and if I want to pay for a second opinion that's up to me. I already spent $90 for this diagnosis and hundreds for our home warranty for this purpose!! Makes me wonder if there's a trust between this company and our warranty provider (210 Homeowners insurance). I'm going to seek a refund for our warranty and for the service fee. read more

I would not recommend this business. I had a burner on my gas stove that would not light and Steps said they could fix it. The repairman came to fix it claiming he had all the parts to do the job. He spent several hours disassembling the stove and by the end of it all none of the burners worked. He claimed he was missing some parts and would come back the next day to complete the work. It's now been 3 weeks since this occurred and they still have not come back, leaving me with a broken stove that they caused. I rarely leave reviews but I just want to warn other of this business's poor service. read more

I had them come fix a dishwasher, refrigerator, and a dryer, and was very pleased with the service every time. They take the time to clean-up when they're done and leave everything nice and neat. I can't say enough about my experience with Steps. My oven had been emitting a bad smell and we'd already had two companies come out to look at it and received terrible service from both - the bottom line is that we were now out a couple hundred bucks but were no closer to having the problem fixed and neither company had spent more than just a couple minutes trying to figure out what was wrong before asking for their check and hightailing it out of my apartment. Henry from Steps was the complete opposite - very thorough, professional, friendly, and committed to getting the job done. He explained what he was doing and why - it was a very common-sense approach, which just underscored how incompetent and/or lazy the first two companies were. He was able to diagnose the problem and went above and beyond in explaining the next steps we should take. A great experience with Steps, especially after such bad luck with the first two companies, and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. read more
