I got the steak frites and the waitress asked how I would like it cooked to which I said medium rare. It came well done. All brown even when I cut into it with a couple random splotches of light pink. To the point I was wondering if they seared the slices individually instead of a whole steak. Honestly, I wouldn't have been too picky about it if the staff didn't go out of their way to ask me my preference. But if I explicitly said medium rare because they asked and it comes well done I am going to say something. They send over another steak and it is literally raw.. At this point I don't even think it's safe to eat. I don't understand how it goes from well done to raw. It seems kind of either incompetent or petty of the kitchen. Quite disappointing for one of the most expensive dishes on the menu. The waitress was exceptionally great though and was entirely understanding of the situation. We enjoyed a great lunch here having the waffle sandwich with sweet potato fries and a grilled cheese panini with a tomato basil soup as well as the Parmesan fries (so good!). Came here for weekend brunch. I love the table seating outside. You can have dogs and it's so pleasant. As far as this experience, I don't love their weekend brunch menu. There's too many sweet options and dishes that aren't complete with a vegetable, protein, and starch. You have to choose between one or the other. Our waiter was also the least attentive man ever. He barely came by to check on us. Didn't give me a knife for my steak, took 10 minutes to come by after our food was delivered, and pre-added milk to our coffee when we requested it black. I feel like this is bare minimum. The sweet potato fries were delicious. The Brussel salad was a little dry. The sandwich with ham is good. Breakfast burrito is also good. We were getting together for a girls brunch and wanted to catch up but at times, I personally felt like we were be rushed out.. who knows, maybe they just like to frequently check in on you. While I haven't loved their Happy Hour as much, dinner (in the quieter portion of the restaurant) provided wonderful food, service, and ambiance. We really appreciated the thoughtfulness of servers who took the time (on their own initiative) to shim our slightly wobbly table. I needed a break from work so I decided to hideout here for lunch. Nice restaurant that is always busy so going at an off time is a good idea. I had the steak sandwich and tried some of the kale salad with chicken. Delicious! They are very good on flavors. You can taste the herbs, sauces and other ingredients in the dish. It's a little pricey but worth it. They have a large inside but also a nice outside seating area. They do charge a 3% hospitality fee to the bill. Definitely will be back. read more

More people were choosing to sit outside, and there was a wait, so we ended up indoors. Surprisingly, it was really popular and busy for a Monday lunch! Service was excellent. Our server checked in regularly and kept our water glasses topped off, which I really appreciated. Food did take a bit longer to arrive since they were bustling, but it was worth the wait. Steak Salad was phenomenal--perfectly cooked to medium-rare. I swapped the balsamic vinaigrette for their lemon vinaigrette since I'm not a balsamic fan, and it worked perfectly. Honestly, I wish more places offered a steak salad this good. The Linguini and Clams was solid and came with a generous amount of clams, but it didn't really wow me. The Roasted Chicken Panini with sweet potato fries was delicious! The basil aioli really brought the sandwich together--such a great flavor combo. If you love brisket and BBQ, don't sleep on the Smoked Brisket Panini. It was loaded with multiple cuts of brisket and packed a punch. Overall, their paninis are definitely worth sharing. I love that the portions here are great for family-style dining--you can try a bit of everything without feeling stuffed. Definitely coming back to try more! Our service was so horrific that our bill was comped! Our server, Jeffrey, was so dismissive and did not check on us once. It took 25 minutes for him to take our order and he did not bring us our food, nor check on us the entire time. My husband had hair in his food, also. We had to walk up to the counter to attempt payment, but manager, Emily, refused to let us pay due to the lack of customer service. Jeffrey made eye contact with our table, but walked off to assist others. My husband is Latino and I am African American....he felt it appropriate to bring over hot sauce when we didnt ask for it. I noticed that no other table had sauces or seasonings, yet, the one table of 3 African Americans and one Latino did. Wow, I didn't realize The Hideout Kitchen had moved locations. I've been to their previous locations a few times a few years ago and have always liked their brunchy menu. But being less of a brunchy person now, I've neglected to try their new location. Today was the day to change that! My partner, friends and I came here after a hike in Briones. They have a parking lot, but note that there's meter enforced. I'm not sure if there's free parking around elsewhere as we paid for meter. We came here around 11:30-11:45ish and this place is popping like before. There's a lot more tables though and we were waitlisted for 15-20 mins before we were called in. Our friends ordered an Eggs Benedict and a Steak Frites, while my partner ordered The Waffle Sandwich. It was chilly today otherwise I would have loved to try the Steak Salad. But I opted for the Harvest Frittata with Chicken Apple Sausage as my protein and omitted the cheese. Food came out fairly quick for how full the restaurant was. My frittata looked amazing. It came with a side of French bread toast, jam, and fruits. My frittata was a pretty good size. For how big it was, it also didn't feel that heavy. They ended up forgetting to put pieces of sausages into my frittata, but when I asked, they gave it to me on the side, which worked out better in the end. It was nice trying the sausage by itself and being able to share it. The frittata itself had plenty of veggies in it. Because it's all mixed in, I wasn't exactly sure what, but it tasted delicious and comforting! Texture was fluffy and just slightly crispy on the edges. The jam was more fruity than it was sweet - I think I saw fruit chunks. It was surprisingly really good with the toast! The sweet treat was a good balance to my savory frittata! I didn't end up trying my partner's Waffle Sandwich, but his country potatoes were yummy! All in all, I highly recommend The Hideout Kitchen. Now that they have moved to a new location, their restaurant looks just a tad less casual and a bit more upscale. But service was friendly and accommodating! Had to ask for more water once and never had the chance to flag anyone down for more. We have been here a few times. We are latinos and have never been felt uncomfortable here until today. First, i came in with my baby and my friend. We ordered but was starting to get stared down by a lady who we assume works there she had on a black and brown dress. Once we received our appetizers and drinks we were constantly getting dirty looks by staff as if they were just waiting for us to leave. When we received out main course it continued with the stares and just eying our food. And its one thing if the baby was making a fuss killing the ambience but he was sleeping the whole time. My husband and I came in for dinner and started with the honey bourbon wings and the grilled octopus. The wings were just okay, nothing memorable, and the octopus was chewy and clearly overcooked. For our entrées, my husband ordered the blackened salmon and thought it was decent but overly salty. I ordered a salad with apples, cranberries, and walnuts (I can't remember the name) and added chicken. For an extra $7, I was really disappointed with the amount and quality of the chicken. It was very thin, dry, and not worth the upcharge. Service also fell short. No one came by to refill our waters, and when our appetizers were dropped off, we weren't given napkins or silverware. Halfway through dinner, the staff opened the windows and door because the restaurant had gotten so smoky inside, which wasn't exactly pleasant while trying to eat. We had no waiter assigned to us and had to ask random staff to call a waiter after 15 min. They kept confusing our order and weren't very attentive throughout. Food took a while to come out also. The ambiance is your typical rustic look with typical pop music playing. We were at the bar so there was a lot of chatter around us and lots of TV playing sports.
