We were able to get a reservation on Mother's Day for the family. We were seated outside to accommodate the kids. The brunch choices were good and shrimp and grits was the winner. I ordered the breakfast burrito with tater tots inside (recommended by the hostess). The waiter confirmed my order, but the kitchen didn't get it right, which was a disappointment. Also the loud bass of the background music was annoying and made conversation difficult. The hostess said that she was not able to change the bass balance. It's been over 10 years since I've been to this place. I believe this is a new location for them? There's a small paid parking lot next door. The lighting inside is dim, they do have both indoor and outdoor seating. Good spot for business meetings, working from laptop or meeting up with a small group. There's bar seating, low tables, high top tables and small private rooms as well. Immediately greeted and seated upon arrival. Service was excellent, water poured shortly after being seated. Waiter came by and introduced himself, we ordered drinks and food. Good came out hot and so flavorful. Came here for brunch on a Saturday around 11:30. We had a reservation for a party of 4 so we were seated right away but it wasn't too crowded at that time; I feel like we could've walked up too. The location of this restaurant is great, walking distance to many nearby shops. There is a parking lot across the street with metered parking. Service was great and we all enjoyed our meals but weren't blown away by anything. The eggs of the bennies were cooked perfectly though. All of the drinks were tasty. I expected more from this place based on all the great things I've heard, but unfortunately it missed the mark for us. My husband and I came in for dinner and started with the honey bourbon wings and the grilled octopus. The wings were just okay, nothing memorable, and the octopus was chewy and clearly overcooked. For our entrées, my husband ordered the blackened salmon and thought it was decent but overly salty. I ordered a salad with apples, cranberries, and walnuts (I can't remember the name) and added chicken. For an extra $7, I was really disappointed with the amount and quality of the chicken. It was very thin, dry, and not worth the upcharge. Service also fell short. No one came by to refill our waters, and when our appetizers were dropped off, we weren't given napkins or silverware. Halfway through dinner, the staff opened the windows and door because the restaurant had gotten so smoky inside, which wasn't exactly pleasant while trying to eat. I was incredibly disappointed with the service here. I've heard great things and was excited to try the food but the service was incredibly slow and was almost absent. We saw our waiter a total of 4 times throughout the 2 hours that we were there. It was a Sunday so it was fairly busy but even considering that, a waiter was rarely seen walking around tending to guests unless they were handing out a check. We had to ask the hostess for water at one point because no one ever came around to fill our glasses once we were seated, and an hour after ordering our food it finally arrived but only partially. Apparently the chef had never told the waiter that things were no longer available until we brought up that only half the food had arrived, to which he apologized and asked if we'd like to substitute any sides for it (and still charged full price for the meal). A little over halfway through our dining experience, one of the outdoor umbrellas flew over their gated patio and was not picked up for about 7 minutes until the manager told some of the staff to. I saw no one check on any of the outdoor tables to make sure the guests were okay until a while after when one of the guests had some words with the manager about the lack of safety and hospitality they experienced. The only saving grace of our dining experience was the incredibly kind hostess who seemed to check on us more than the waiter at one point. I had high hopes for this restaurant but will unfortunately not be coming back again. read more

The flavors are well put together and the textures were great and ingredients were great. However, I personally would have loved a little more seasoning on both dishes. Overall really good food. The service could have been better. We came in on monday (memorial day) at 12:30. We got seated right away but got seated at the bar area which is where the problem was. We had no waiter assigned to us and had to ask random staff to call a waiter after 15 min. They kept confusing our order and weren't very attentive throughout. Food took a while to come out also. The ambiance is your typical rustic look with typical pop music playing. We were at the bar so there was a lot of chatter around us and lots of TV playing sports. However, this makes me feel bad that she spent so much on us. The brisket biscuit Benedict sounded amazing by description. And for $26, I was expecting greatness. Well....expectations were not met. There was a thin slice of brisket on each biscuit....one was all fat. The eggs were overcooked, essentially hard boiled. If you like eggs Benedict, that takes the fun out of a good brunch. I asked for fries, they brought me sweet potato fries. No biggie, but the replacement French fries NEVER arrived. So, no potatoes. There were other service issues as well....but I'll leave it out, because they comped a meal that arrived late, when everyone was halfway done. I can make two constructive comments on the lunch friend and I had there the other day. The bread that came with the bread and butter was toasted to be harder than the table top. It shattered when broken. And the steak on the steak salad was 4 thick pieces impossible to cut as they lay over the soft gentle pillow-like lettuce salad underneath. It should properly have been sliced thinly and fanned across the salad in pieces the size that could be eaten in one bite. read more

We loved the food. There was a surprise to find a Filipino dish Pulled Lork Silog. It was crispy Shredded pork shoulder, garlic fried rice topped with a sunnyside egg and peppered gravy. The gravy was a different touch, but overall a delicious entree. I would order this again The waffle sandwich had a great presentation, but the person who ordered it said, he would have preferred just a chicken and waffle combination. This was a chicken fried steak, cheddar, easy egg sandwiched between two waffles, sausage gravy , butter and powdered sugar . The side was tattertots, which is always a treat!! The ube hotcake cakes were good especially with lots of syrup. The person who ordered this thought the pancakes were dry, but lots of syrup helped him eat it. Smoked Salmon Benedict was very delicious and the person who ordered this said she loved the flavor and she would definitely recommend this version of Eggs Benedict. The Steak Frites was grilled skirt steak with shoestring fries. The person who ordered this did not speak until half the dish was eaten. A thumbs up for this dish!! Hideout Kitchen is a delight. My wife had the fried chicken and I had the rack of lamb. We were surprised at the generous portions, and everything was cooked perfectly. A star of my dish was the roasted vegetable medley (Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, carrots, mushrooms and onions). My wife asked for a substitution of carrots for kale and enjoyed her vegetable as well. The space is open and airy, not too noisy, and very pleasant. The service is attentive and not intrusive. We came here on a weekend day in the early afternoon. The place was packed but luckily there were high tables available for us to sit at so we were seated quickly. We had called ahead about 10 minutes prior and told the same thing, and made our way there. Parking in downtown Lafayette is all metered and it can be tricky to find parking on weekends but possible with some circling. We ordered the curry chicken wrap and the waffle sandwich. We found that the meat in each of these dishes were pretty bland. The fries and breakfast potatoes were also on the soggier end, including the Parmesan on the Parmesan fries, which was very soggy. I wasn't a huge fan of my plate and it also was not filling. I would try other things, but I would not be in a rush to get back. The servers are all very on top of clearing tables -- in fact we had multiple different people clear our plates while we were there. They are a high capacity restaurant with most seats filled. It was pretty busy there and so you're not going to get a cozy diner experience if that's what you're looking for. Lastly, they include a 3% hospitality fee on all bills. read more

Staff are nice and friendly but taking orders, bringing food out (comes out in spurts. Which leaves multiple people at the table waiting), bringing check and closing out the tab. We were greeted by the manager (J.B) who was friendly & professional. We brought my mom for brunch to celebrate her birthday at Hideout Kitchen on a Sunday afternoon. We had to wait almost 30 minutes after our reservation time for our table, but they were busy so we understood. Sadly, it just went downhill from there. Our server took our drink order, but never returned to take our food order, we had to ask someone to please take our order. The food was good, we all enjoyed our meals, but when we were done, we had brought cupcakes to celebrate the birthday, but couldn't find the server to bring us napkins, or a lighter to light the candle. We flagged down someone else for a lighter and got our own napkins. After having our cupcakes, we had to ask someone for a check as we never saw our server again. Someone I assume was a manager dropped off the check, but didn't return to pick it up. On my way to the host desk to pay the bill, I saw our server having conversation with a co-worker. I let the manager know we've had a terrible experience, she said that they've been busy with large parties. I then pointed out that our server was actually only busy taking to his peer, she had nothing to say to that. Zero customer service. She ran our cards, then told me they normally charge customers when they bring their own dessert, but she was not going to charge us due to our experience. This was such a joke because 1) they had already forgotten to charge us anyway, she's saying this AFTER the bill was already delivered and paid without the charge, and 2) cake cutting fees usually require someone to actually cut the cake, or at the very least bring you a napkin or a fork, this was pretty much a self service experience for us. I gave them two stars because the food was good and the ambiance was nice, but def never going back. read more

While I did enjoy my time here at the Hideout Kitchen, I found the food was just okay. My husband and I were curious to see what it was like here after looking at all the positive reviews. I ordered the classic benedict, and my husband ordered the waffle sandwich. He said it was just okay, and I also agreed on the flavors of my meal as well - that it was just okay. It wasn't something we nodded our heads on and said "Mmmm..." Out of curiosity, we also decided to try out the brioche french toast which was all just... okay. It was a meal that made us full but not something that encouraged us to be like, "We need to come back here for brunch another day!" As for the service, our waiter was very friendly, however I think he forgot about us. Our french toast came out first, and my husband and I shared it while we were waiting for our other two orders (the benedict and sandwich). By the time our other foods got to us, we were a little disappointed because our meal was not hot, I wouldn't even say it was even warm... It was as if the food was cooked fresh and when it arrived to us, it had cooled down. :( The environment of the restaurant is very relaxing. The lights are dimmed and it is quite lively. I couldn't decide between the brisket biscuit Benedict sandwich and the pulled pork silog and the server said go with the silog. I was happy I did because it was amazing! Pulled pork was very tender and the sauce they had with paired so well with the dish. Luckily for me one of my cousins ordered the brisket biscuit Benedict and that was good as well. Other items we got were chorizo tacos, grilled cheese sandwich and Ube pancakes. The Ube pancakes had a good flavor however I think it lacked the Ube flavor. It was there but very light. So I heard this place is under new ownership/management. The host was very amicable and accommodating for outdoor seating on a gorgeous sunny January day. Everything on The menu looked amazing! I decided on the breakfast waffle sandwich with chicken fried steak and the flavors did not disappoint!! The gravy sauce was really tasty and meat wasn't overly breaded - although I was surprised the gravy had a heavy portion of ham bits in it- still good! My friend ordered the tuna melt and she was pleased and also surprised to see grapes in her sandwich but didn't seem to bother her. My drinks were delicious (Xpreso tini) and filthy dirty vodka martini but the portions (glasses) were small - like I finished them in two gulps... But my god the server!!!!
