3.75 stars. The Hideout Kitchen's front patio on a warm morning, as well as their sophisticated interiors, make this eatery a good choice if atmosphere is as important as the food itself. I noticed a couple Filipino-inspired dishes on the brunch menu -- Pulled Pork Silog, & the one we tried, Ube Hotcakes. Fluffy & coated in a deep purple sauce, but they didn't posses the distinct taste of ube. My Breakfast Burrito was very well put together, & so hearty, I could only get through half. Every bite saw a dip into the tasty hot sauce. And like the five-year old that I am, I loved that tater tots were a side option. I wouldn't make the drive from my neck of the woods specifically for the Hideout Kitchen, but should I find myself in Lafayette again, I wouldn't say no to an invite here.

Very cool spot to chill out and have a nice dinner or just a couple drinks We went during a concert night and we couldn't have been happier. Good music, good service, good food, good night! Grilled Octopus appetizer was citrus & spanish spices, garlic aioli, tomato & caper tapenade; just how we like it Linguine and clams: chablis, heavy cream, butter, sweet onion, garlic, manila clams, fennel, lemon. Beautifully crafted dish, a favorite done right. Kids sliders were filling, good options for kids. I'll be back for sure!

I've been here numerous times for breakfast but not lunch. Today we ate here for lunch and wow it was fantastic! We sat on the patio that was very relaxing. We ordered a curry chicken wrap that was so flavorful! Pure deliciousness!!!! It consisted of curry chicken with red and green peppers, apricots, raisins and quinoa. Omg!!! The spice yogurt to accompany it was fantastic! It came with a side of crispy sweet potatoe fries! So addictive! Service was excellent! Definitely one of my favorite places to eat when I visit my daughter!

Great place and open "late" (10pm)! Enjoyed some fab drinks and the killer burger!! The meatballs were very good! Tender and full of flavor with polenta. The chicken parm is a huge portion!!

Slowly making our way through Bay Area brunch spots. Came here with some friends to change it up from our usual spot. We met up a little after 12 PM. There was some parking but the lot was full and you had to pay to park. We didn't have a reservation, but they had tables open for those without them. I ordered the Pulled Pork Silog, the garlic rice and the fried egg on top were really good, the pickled onions a nice touch, the pulled pork didn't have much flavor and I probably wouldn't order this dish again. I also ordered the Pomelo Spritz, I was disappointed in this. The glass was half full and it was mostly ice. Wouldn't order a drink again. To note they do not have bottomless mimosas at the moment. The staff was very attentive and communicative if they didn't have something we wanted.

Morning Glory with a side salad

Came here with some friends for the first time and overall did enjoy it. This area has an assortment of great brunch/lunch spots and there is paid parking. This location does take reservations, but we did show up without one and were able to be seated at the barstool tables. Staff was very friendly and attentive and the menu had a number of amazing things listed. We all ordered something different, but I got the Morning Glory - which is a breakfast sandwich with a side salad (the salad was amazing). The sandwich was very filling and delicious. Why not 5 stars? The drinks. 3/4 ordered the same cocktail for about $18 each. The glasses were half full if even and mostly ice. I do not mind paying for a drink, but for $18 I expect to get a full glass. Bottom line, I would come back for the food, but would pass on the cocktails.

Lafayette is such a gem of a place. While in the area, we stopped at this local spot on a beautiful (and hot) day. We opted to not sit outside, rather inside right by the exterior seating to still get the vibes but also some AC. I love places like Lafayette where all the businesses support each other and help each other grow. Their brews on tap are mostly all local, and we grabbed some Pilsners sourced from Lafayette's new brewery, Western Flyer. So fresh and crisp. Can't wait to also check that spot out. Food-wise, we came in mid-afternoon and grabbed a Kale Pancetta salad (they pre-split the salad for us on two plates which was so nice), and for the mains, we both grabbed the Tuna Melt with fries. The salad was delicious. I'm def a tuna melt girly, and I loved the addition of the ciabatta (?) as the bread option, so fresh as well. This tuna melt comes with grapes fyi, and a few other elements mixed in. I absolutely loved it, just sharing though as I know how some tuna stans like their tuna :) This spot is clean, spacious, and perfectly situated in walking distance downtown. Would love to come back for brunch with a group of friends, or even again during the upcoming Lafayette Art & Wine Fest. Food is good, service is quick and friendly, and vibes are right. Metered parking located across the street.

Great ambiance. Very spacious with both indoor and outdoor seating. Parking can be difficult; there's a nearby paid parking area or street parking. We got seated pretty quickly despite no reservations. Our server was friendly and attentive. However, the wait time for the food was LONG and it wasn't even crazy busy. We had to ask several times about our food. Food- wise, everything we ordered was delicious. It was flavorful and good portioned. Overall, a pleasant experience. I would like to come back to try their lunch or dinner menu.

We stopped by The Hideout Kitchen in Lafayette for a quick lunch while we were in the area and grabbed a table on the patio. The vibe inside is luxe, the food has great presentation, and the menu had a lot of tempting options. Since we were there for a light lunch, we ordered the chicken cobb salad and the grilled cheese with tomato soup, but a few things tasted a bit off from what we expected. - Chicken Cobb Salad: light and refreshing, packed with fresh greens. But it needed more flavor overall - the dressing was super mild, the chicken was dry, and the blue cheese was so light it honestly tasted like feta - Grilled Cheese + Tomato Soup: comforting, but I wished the bread was thicker and fluffier, like a milk bread or brioche. The soup was nice and creamy but too salty to enjoy by itself Overall a pleasant spot with a lot of potential - I think there are just small tweaks that could have been made. Would definitely give this a second chance and try out the dinner menu.

We started here for dinner before heading out to a concert. Dinner was perfection and so were the drinks. I never know of this little gem of a place in Lafayette until my friend raved about it. I'm happy she suggested it before we headed out to our concert in Oakland. My friend had the boneless Mary's chicken, yukon & russet mash, braised kale, truffle honey and I, blackened salmon spanish spices, brown rice & quinoa pilaf, roasted vegetables, pesto. To me it was a lot of food for the price, so I ended up taking half of my meal home to have as leftovers for dinner the following night. Check them out.

Solid experience once again. We came for Father's Day brunch. Friendly staff and got seating right it away. As expected but linger for food but still reasonable knowing every table of this large restaurant is filled with other patrons. Shrimp and grits. The shrimp large juicy and had natural sweetness. I love sauce but this was a bit over sauced for me. My son love his steak eggs and fruit. Pork Silog was ok. Garlic rice was great, pork was a bit one note. Next time we should get back to our usual favorites which is burger, fried chicken, Cobb salad etc.

I had been to the restaurant that was previously at this location a few years ago and had been wanting to try The Hideout Kitchen. I came here this morning with some friends and we really enjoyed our meal! First, I LOVE that they take reservations online via Open Table. We have been to other restaurants for brunch that don't take reservations and had to wait 45-60 mins to get seated. I arrived a few mins early and was immediately seated after checking in. My friends were running late so I appreciated that they didn't make me wait until the rest of the party arrived. The entrees we got were the ube pancakes, tomato soup and grilled cheese, chorizo tacos, and a Benedict. The ube pancakes were a generous portion and the ube sauce wasn't overly sweet. I tried a piece of the grilled cheese one of my friends ordered, which was perfectly cheesy. Though I didn't partake as a non-meat eater, my friends seemed to enjoy the chorizo tacos. Friends had mimosas and a lychee martini. Next time I'll have to take uber or Lyft there so I can enjoy them without being too drunk to drive! Waiter was friendly and we didn't have to wait long for the food or check. We had a great table outside. Although we were near a lot of car and foot traffic, we could still talk and hear each other at a normal volume. I'd love to try the grilled cheese with tomato soup on a chilly day, which are probably far and few now that it's spring. Maybe next time I'll try the brioche French toast or the breakfast burrito.

Fried chicken - one of my favorites!

Ask the Community - The Hideout Kitchen

Are there Gluten Free options besides the salads?

I'm not sure but the staff and owners are incredibly accommodating. I'd feel comfortable asking for a substitution.

Is there a kids menu for dinner?

I don't remember seeing a kids menu there. However, they do have some "small plate" options.

Are the ube pancakes and pulled pork silog only available during the weekend brunch?

Yes they are only on the brunch menu! You could always try asking ahead of time if they are open to making these dishes at other times

Where can I find prices in the menu?

View the menu on the restaurant's website.

Does the restaurant accept reservations for brunch?

Hmmm not too sure because I walked in for a table of 2, and the host asked if it was ok that we took this table that had a reservation in 1 hour 45 mins from now. I responded with "not a problem, we only need an hour. "…

Is the honey chicken - strips?

If you're referring to the fried chicken, it is not strips.

Are dogs allowed at outdoor seatings?

Yes

Do they offer bottomless mimosas?

Not on the weekends. I think you can order bottomless weekdays, but I'm not sure. I know you can buy the bottle of champagne for like $25-30 and they'll give you juices to make some.

Does this restaurant serve alcohol?

Yes, full service bar.

Are reservations recommended for a Saturday evening?

Is the brunch menu only on weekends and is all day or for certain hours?

A reviewer mentioned octopus salad, yet I can't find it on the menu. Was that a special, or did I misread it?

It's under. Starters

Are there any vegan options?

We offer many items on our menu to be customized to fit all dietary restrictions. Our staff is more than happy to walk anyone through our menu and what we can do for anyone.

Is the restaurant accepting reservations?

Yes, they are

Can I still order regular menu(lunch/dinner menu) on brunch time?

I went for brunch. I was able to order from breakfast and lunch menu, but not the dinner menu. Hope this helps.

Are there any vegan options or are we able to modify meals to make them vegan?

There are vegan options.

Do you offer the brunch menu on the weekdays?

No, only Saturday and Sundays

When is happy hour?

I don't believe they have happy hour since they don't have a bar.

Peanut allergy friendly?

I have a son that has lethal peanut allergies and he was fine. I am also very careful of what I order. We went to the restaurant for brunch.

Is breakfast only on weekends?

Yes. Breakfast on weekends only. They open at 9:00 on the weekends, later during the week.

This time, however, it was a completely different. What kind of restaurant has this become? There was no one at the reception when we arrived. A person who was cleaning the tables was the one who seated us. A little later, a young woman came over looking quite unkempt and dressed in sport clothing. She casually handed us menus that were stained and dirty. It seemed as though the restaurant has no standards for uniforms or customer service protocols. This is an expensive restaurant, so having menus and service like that is unacceptable--it's not a fast-food restaurant. She had no knowledge of the menu. We asked about both the food and drink selections, and she couldn't make a single recommendation or explain any of the dishes. It was honestly embarrassing. The restaurant was almost empty, with only one or two occupied tables. Then another server came over, who also appeared to work there, but somehow the experience became even worse. She didn't seem to understand us, spoke extremely slowly, appeared very nervous, wasn't listening, and honestly seemed either unwell or simply uninterested in working. It was unbelievable. The only person who was truly helpful was the men cleaning the tables. He brought us more water, and we even ended up ordering part of our meal through him because the server never came back to our table. The food itself was good, and the drinks were poor. I expected much better drinks since we saw two people working behind the bar. Overall, I feel the restaurant has lost its standards, and it clearly shows in both the service and the overall presentation. Our server never returned to check on us, and we eventually had to get up ourselves to ask for the check. By then, we'd completely lost any interest in ordering dessert. The food was good, although the portions seemed small considering the prices. What frustrated us most was that our food arrived before our drinks. I don't believe that was the chef's or kitchen's fault. it was clearly a service issue, especially considering the restaurant was nowhere near busy. We've honestly received better service at fast-food restaurants. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a luxurious atmosphere, but the service is simply depressing. They need to improve or completely overhaul their service if they want customers to come back.

I just had a vague recollection of the restaurant's appearance on "Check, Please! Bay Area" several years back, and it had been quite a while since we traveled past the Caldecott Tunnel for a good meal. It turned out to be a charming place, although its suburban strip mall location surprised me. Maybe I'm just a snob. Busy as they were for our 7PM reservation, we were seated in front where everyone coursed through the space. The hurly-burly ambiance reminded me of the bustling Carettes at Place des Vosges in Paris. It was the last night of their summer menu, but since this was our virginal visit, we thought we should try their evergreen signature dishes. First up were a complimentary basket of sliced baguettes (Photo 16) and refreshing libations. Jamie ordered the $14 Gentian Orange Spritz, a non-alcoholic version of an Aperol Spritz, while I went for the $16 Kir Royal, an effervescent mix of crème de cassis and sparkling wine (Photo 4). Our appetizers were well chosen and did not disappoint. We ordered the $36 Chef Paul's "Foie Gras" Torchon. The quotes were intentional as it was made with creamy, unfattened duck liver served with toasted brioche and housemade fig jam (Photo 8). The delightful decadence was offset by the fresh heirloom tomatoes and avocado chunks of the $7.50 Salade de Tomates. Mint, pickled red onion, olive oil, and sherry vinaigrette provided the right finish (Photo 7). I could've gone for seconds. Our individual entrees came next. They were tried-and-true bistro classics, very straightforward in execution. Jamie ordered the $37 Poulet Basquaise, a hearty dish dominated by a braised chicken leg and thigh. Completing the plate were tomato, peppers, onion, and chorizo sausage served over a bed of seared polenta (Photo 5). I went for the very traditional $49 Steak Frites, the 8-oz New York steak with peppercorn sauce, and this was my one slight disappointment as the cut was not as tender as I was hoping. With a paucity of grilled veggies, the plate was sparse (Photo 18), but the pomme frites were excellent, double-fried and tenderly crisped (Photo 11). Dessert brought us back to Paris. I went for the $13 Gateau Opera, a classic layered almond sponge cake with coffee buttercream and chocolate ganache (Photo 10). Jamie was excited to get the $13 Ile Flottante because we had a memorably airy floating island at Bofinger in La Marais (review: https://yelp.to/MdrtH323SU). It wasn't quite that perfect, but the poached meringue, creme anglaise, caramel sauce, and pistachios were lovely (Photo 9).
