Ordered the special, which was bone marrow w fig spread, and a half baked garlic clove and crusty toast. Need I say more?! The wine selections were perfectly paired, Pinot Noir and a silky Bordeaux to finish. Desert, fresh peaches picked by the Chef at the local farmers market, poached and served w gelato and fresh whipped almond cream. Don't mess with date night! Just go. When looking for a restaurant to celebrate graduation, I had the following criteria in mind: (1) incredible food; (2) fancy yet relaxed ambiance; (3) located in the East Bay. As a huge fan of French cuisine, I'd been following RÊVE for years and decided to book a table for the graduation dinner. I made a reservation about three months in advance just to be safe, since the restaurant only has about eight indoor tables. The restaurant was tucked away in a nondescript strip mall, but upon entering through the side gate, I felt like I was stepping into a Parisian neighborhood bistro. Our friendly waitress walked us through the menu and seasonal specials and even pointed out the can't-miss dishes. Thank goodness we followed her advice - the frites were among the best I've ever tasted! We debated ordering another cone of frites but decided to pace ourselves because we also ordered the gougères, RÊVE salad, and escargot to share. Additionally, we received complimentary fresh baguette and butter. For my main dish, I decided to try the quenelle, which can be described as a soft dumpling made from seafood purée that resembles a velvety soufflé. Every bite had a rich seafood flavor that, even now, I can't stop thinking about. Even though we were quite full after dinner, we were tempted by the dessert menu and decided to split the chocolate mousse and French opera cake. Both desserts were exquisite - they were small portions but packed a lot of richness without being overly sweet. Our dinner was made extra special by the restaurant staff, who remembered that we were celebrating a graduation and signed a card for us. Arleen was awesome. Super friendly, attentive, and just made the whole night feel easy. We had the clams and fries and the pâté, plus a few other things, and everything was really good. The clams were fresh and full of flavor, the fries were perfectly crisp, and the pâté was rich without being too heavy. The ambience was fun and loud! The French 75 was a standout. We love coming to Reve for date nights and special occasions. The food and service are both fantastic. The Reve salad is super fresh and always hits the spots. Wow. Wow wow. Wowowowowow! My wife and I usually like to try places that we can't cook ourselves at home. Reve Bistro was amazing! Most of the menu items I wouldn't be able to cook or spell. And the flavors! So good. We got the Smoked Salmon Oysters to start and they were delicious. Then we got the Pike and rabbit main course dishes; they had great texture with deep flavors and exquisite presentation. The service was amazing by Ryan. He knew the menu forwards and backwards and was super nice. A+ by Ryan. The location is great, and the ambiance was perfect. Reve is easily a top restaurant to visit in California. read more

Love Rêve. There's not a lot of French spots in this part of the bay area and I'm so grateful we have this one. I've been here twice now and both times have been great. Booked a res for both times because even on weekdays, this place can get pretty busy. All the staff is rly enthusiastic and my server for my first experience here recognized me on my second visit. They're all rly knowledgable abt the menu and know how to sell you on their specials. The French fries here are to die for, and the truffle on top is mando. The scallop risotto is perfect too. Came by for dinner the other night and it was a tasty experience. Reve is located in Lafayette and is featured in the Michelin guide. Parking is available in the paid strip mall lot or on nearby residential streets. There were plenty of very new high end luxury vehicles in and around the restaurant. The clientele skewed towards affluent. Dining is available indoors as well as on the heated patio. The dining room reminded me of Paris, with a few less tables and chairs. Started off with the mussels and snails for appetizers. Both were excellent, including their truffle fries. Had their cassoulet which was gigantic and featured tons of very tender meats and beans! Opted for the beef cheeks as the entree and the beef cheeks were extremely tender served over a bed of spatzle. For dessert, opted for the pear pie which was decent. We had a wonderful first experience here a couple months ago for our anniversary. The ambiance is very warm and inviting. We made a reservation for an indoor table but the outdoor patio is so cute. When we arrived, they placed a card on the table wishing us a happy 4th anniversary, which was very nice. Arlene was our server and she was very friendly and helpful. The food was not only presented beautifully but prepared, seasoned and cooked very well. The French fries are the best and a must-try if you are a fry enthusiast like me! But through the doors you are transported to a wonderful and tasty experience. The ambiance was terrific!!! Loved all of it. We had lunch at Rêve on June 5th, their first lunch service. The fix menu included a Rêve salad that was delicious with a lemon vinaigrette dressing. Salad was followed by Steak Frites served family style and cooked to perfection. Dessert was choice of coffee or profiterole. Oh yum we enjoyed the profiteroles. To begin, I think Victoria is the most down to earth employee ever. I love her ability to match your energy - you want casual? She gives you casual. Sterility? She can be that too. She's so adaptable with her environment, it's really refreshing. I love being around somebody that knows their audience and how to interact. We were super casual and she gave us just that. I would return to this establishment, simply for her company. So - the food. Honestly. Pretty mid. I started with the half bottle of Sancerre which was incredible. Loved it. Paired the bottle with the dessert (yes, I said dessert) fromage because I wanted something savory to pair with my wine plus the olives (INCREDIBLE) and the gougeres (I can see the hype, but mid for me). We then moved onto both salads - I loved the savoriness of the rêve salad and the acidity of the nectarine salad. I would recommend both depending on your palate preference that day. Unfortunately, the tip off begins here - we got the special of the day which was duck breast. It was supposed to be cooked medium rare and h fortunately it was medium in some areas and well done in others. I'm feeling generous enough to chalk the inconsistencies up to it being such a hot day and hard to regulate the kitchen temperate. Additionally, we ordered the steak frites, which was also cooked beyond our desired meat temperature. They both had the potential to be so good and it was disappointing that the temperature is what threw the dish. Lastly, we finished with the dessert trio and creme brûlée. I LOVED THE CRÈME BRÛLÉE! It was perfectly sweet with an incredible texture. So, so good and well paired with a cappuccino. The dessert trio was also great - opera cake was nice and light, the fruit pairing was raspberry (which I love), and the apricot tart was something I would enjoy on any given day. All in all, the establishment was worth the experience. I'm hoping the hiccup with main dish temperatures was related to the ambient air, I will give this place another go and see if it can exceed my expectations a second time. read more

Due to that, I thought it would be a good idea to treat my son and his friend there for an outstanding night and great French food. Réve was the perfect place to celebrate a special family birthday. The outdoor patio was gorgeous with lush greenery and featured live musicians playing soft background music. The service was warm and non-pretentious with items arriving in well-paced succession. Most importantly, food and wine were all wonderful to the point where I already wish I could repeat the entire meal. We shared Gougeres (French cheese puffs), Artichoke Spinach Dip with Olive bread, and French Onion Soup to start the meal, along with their amazing basket of complimentary French bread with butter. For an entree, I ordered their Sole Filet Meuniére, cooked to flaky perfection and served with sautéed Chanterelle mushrooms, creamy mashed potatoes, and a delicate crab-stuffed zucchini half. Although Reve Bistro is located in a tiny strip mall, tucked away in the corner, it is definitely a restaurant to visit often for dates nights or even just occasionally for special evenings. We truly enjoyed every bite at Reve! The fries are delicious - perfectly crispy on the outside and warm mushiness on the inside like mashed potatoes!! Wow! They serve freshly baked bread with butter on the house. We had the Reve Salad, Artichoke Dip with Olive bread, onion soup, steak frites (extra fries!!), scallops with mushroom risotto - every single dish was so good! The fresh crisp salad seemed too beautiful to eat, and it tasted even better. The dip was obviously made of artichokes without it being too heavy on the cheese. The onion soup broth was warm and comforting. The steak was perfectly cooked medium and the fries, of course, we can't stop talking about! The scallops were my favorite and the risotto really hit the spot! Even the house Bordeaux (chateau de landiras graves 2020) was delicious - it really accommodated our whole dinner, especially the beef and scallops! We'll definitely be back quite often because we truly appreciate good food! We drove 120 miles to meet friends we hadn't seen in fifteen years, and this restaurant absolutely blew us away. Between the four of us, we had more dietary restrictions than a cooking competition challenge, but with a little advance notice, the team handled it beautifully! Our server, Ryan D., was attentive, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. The chef and kitchen staff created dishes that were not only safe for all our restrictions but genuinely delicious. Everything was clean and crisp but with a homey feel. Professional but with a soul. That said, it's all window dressing for the food. By God was the food incredible. Ordered, take out here recently. Who orders take out with French food right?! We wanted to stay-in but still have a nice meal and Reve hit the spot perfectly. We ordered the Veal, Coq au vin, and Branzino and everything was delicious. Each dish was paired with the right sauce and all the textures came out as expected. The flavors were so good we licked all the sauce up - there, I exposed our secret! But no shame here plus we are at home so no judging haha. I made a reservation for myself in the evening to celebrate my birthday. I'm visiting Moraga and decided to have dinner at this local French restaurant in Lafayette. Great choice! The service is impeccable and the dining area indoors was warm, with white tablecloths on each table, and it has a casual Parisian flair about it. I love Paris and this was just the place to bring back memories of "The City of Lights". The chef/owner has a well-earned culinary reputation for his establishment. I started out with their French onion soup, the veal broth has a lighter flavor than the usual beef broth. A young lady brought me a small glass of their watermelon soup (seasonal) which I wanted to try and was happy to have a taste of it. She said it was ordered for me by the chef as this was my first-time here. I ordered the special of the day dinner which was medallions of roast pork atop a variety of root vegetables that included cubed butternut squash and carrots. This delicious dish was drizzled with a dark rich gravy sweetened with raisins. The waitress recommended a glass of pinot noir that I ordered. A box of small multi-colored macarons filled with lightly flavored mousse was given to take home since they were closing and a lit candle on a plate for me to blow-out was served with a complementary glass of champagne (as a birthday token). This lovely Parisian bistro made my birthday a very memorable event. I shared my experience with a friend and we plan to come together. read more

Great all around!! Super cute place, kinda small with indoor & heated+covered outdoor seating, small metered parking lot (with some more street parking nearby). Staff was all super friendly and knowledgeable. Food and drink were great all around with quite large portions. Prices were quite reasonable given the quality and amount of food we got! We had the escargot which were huge and had a nice pesto type of sauce on them, an excellent meat & cheese charcuterie plate (the chicken liver mousse was a standout, but all 3 cheeses & 2 meats and the crackers and pickled items and nuts and mustard and marmalade were all great!), the French onion soup which was very flavorful (with a nice amount of crouton, cheese, and onion), the mussels & truffle frites (which was a huge pile of nice mussels in a great and flavorful marinade and the truffle fries were hot, fresh, crispy outside, with just a hint of truffle flavor), opera cake (so chocolatey and tasty!), macarons (6 different flavors, all packed up and ready to take home), a champagne flight, and a port flight. Took my wife here for her birthday on Wine Wednesday--great vibe, solid wine flight to kick things off. Bread came out cold unfortunately, but the butter was amazing once it warmed up. Their house salad was fresh, salty in a good way thanks to olives and anchovies. Steak frites were tasty--fries were perfect, steak a bit uneven, but the gravy saved it. My wife an I have had dinner at Reve Bistro a few times over the years for special occasions but, the last two times weve dined there have been very disappointing. This week we had a dinner reservation for my birthday. I ordered the risotto and my wife ordered the branzino. The server strongly suggested I purchase some fresh truffles, which the chef had generously priced at $24 for 3 grams. When the risotto was served, there was zero truffle aroma, so I asked my wife. She too couldn't tell if the truffles had been added. When the server came around, I asked if truffle had been added. The Server said she saw the chef put truffles on the risotto. When I said there wasn't no aroma or flavor. The Server just shrugged and walked off with no comment. It was really disappointing. When we got home, my wife found out that Reve had a truffle dinner special 3 weeks earlier which explains why there was none of the characteristics flavor. Also, when we arrived there we many open tables and I asked the seater if we could sit at an open table by the window. The seater replied that the particular table was reserved for frequent customers. About and hour or so later a couple was seated at that table. We orver heard them talking that this was their first experience at Reve. They were not frequent diners. I was there first time there. Wow. read more

I had high hopes for this place--especially since it's Michelin-recognized. We came here to celebrate our anniversary and even added flowers to the table through OpenTable, which was a nice option. Unfortunately, the experience fell short, starting with the parking. The lot is cramped and difficult to navigate, setting a frustrating tone right off the bat. We opted for indoor seating, but the space is very small. We were seated by the window, which was dirty--covered in dust and grime. Not a great first impression for a special night out. We ordered the three-course dinner special offered Tuesday through Thursday. The starter salad was the highlight of the meal: crisp, fresh, and acidic in the best way. Unfortunately, the main course was a major letdown. My steak was overcooked, and the accompanying vegetables were barely present--literally one carrot, one asparagus spear, half a Brussels sprout, and a green onion. The French fries were "running behind," so they arrived late. My spouse ordered the risotto, which was... odd. It was served lukewarm and unexpectedly included sweet corn. The sweetness completely overpowered the dish--it reminded me of esquites (Mexican street corn), which might be great in a cup, but not in risotto. It lacked any garnish or depth, and overall felt unfinished and unbalanced. Dessert was solid--good portion, good sweetness--but by then, it felt like too little too late. Service was another low point. Our waitress was inattentive and seemed far more engaged with other tables. We had to flag her down for water refills, and she didn't check in after our food arrived. Went here for an anniversary dinner with my wife. We were seating quickly in their beautiful outdoor garden on a warm summer day. Couldn't have been a better day. The waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable without lingering. Perfect level of attentiveness. We splurged a bit with an espresso martini (delicious for someone who doesn't drink very often), gaspacho (a cold savory fruity soup. Excellent for a warm day), and octopus salad (a miss here. The octopus and beans had a grainy texture). For main course I had the muscles and fries which were excellent. Fries were crispy. Muscles were served in a beurre blanc that was good to the last drop. My wife had a well-balanced polet that fell off the bone without being too dry. We finished off the meal with some macrons to go. Another place that's been on my list for so long and finally took my bf here. Rêve bistro is a little Paris in the hood. This place is such a hidden gem in Lafayette, being Michelin recognition in 2021, 2022 and 2023. We started with their charcuterie board, where you can choose the type of meat and cheese you want, paired with the wine we picked from a winery established since 17th century. One of the best wine we've had. The chef also had you tried a shot of soup if it's your first time there. For appetizers, we had the escargots, which is sure bigger compared to other French restaurants I've been to in the Bay Area. Really well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Also got some of their mixed mushrooms and it was so good. For main entree, we only had Joue de Boeuf since we already had a lot. The wagyu beef was so tender and well seasoned, served with different types of veggies. Our server Sophie was so great and recommended so many good options for us. Rêve feels like one of those rare places that doesn't try too hard, it simply is what it claims to be...warm, refined, and quietly confident. The kind of restaurant where conversation softens and time slows down a little. I started with the escargots, buttery and aromatic, tucked into their shells like little jewels of garlic and parsley, rich enough to remind you why the dish became a French classic in the first place. The pâté was rustic and balanced. And the old fashioned, beautifully done. Subtle, restrained, with the right balance of citrus and depth, the kind that complements food rather than competes with it.
