Outstanding pastrami, actually the whole menu is very good, chili fries are to die for‼

Came here around 11 pm with friends, Ordered the pastrami dip sandwich, the sandwich was pretty good. It came with pastrami mustard and some pickles. We also ordered the chili fries to share. Portions on the fries are huge! I was pretty satisfied with how much fries they gave us. The price is a little steep but I would go here again. read more

How Fu*king hard is it to be nice? Courtesy, polite, & caring? So rude! Zero customer service skills! This is the worst Hat location! The chilis are pre-packed!they had zero flavor and tasted old & stale! My food was not hot which is weird since we where the only ones inside besides drive-thru! Wilted lettuce & tomato! Disgusting! I was@the Hat in Brea last week! Great service & food was great! No issues! This location in Glendora always seems to be a problem! A few months ago, I ordered chili fries for my daughter! I've been to so many locations, and this is my favorite so far. Their chili cheese fries were still crispy when we took it home, and there was a mountain of chili and cheese on top! Usually I have a ton of plain fries at the end, but I was surprised I had enough chili for all of the fries! Of course it is greasy and oily, but you don't get chili cheese fries to be healthy anyway. I think prices are good considering that it's definitely sharable! read more

If your a fan of pastrami sandwiches The Hat is a must try. You get a massive amount of fries. We order 1 large order of fries for a family of 4 and always have a bunch left over. The fries are average but Tip: try the side of gravy with your fries. They have dine in with plenty of parking or drive thru and the drive thru flows pretty fast. They got the system down so In general the service is pretty quick and generally pretty friendly. Even though I recommend trying the pastrami dip here - for me the pastrami sandwich at Capri Deli is my preference. It's real moist and juicy and here it is drier. Both are flavorful and I think you get plenty of meat overall just a lil more for roughly the same price at Capri. Typically I split the sandwich here with my wife so I can indulge in fries with gravy and onion rings. read more

It's been a couple of years since I've last eaten at The Hat, but not too much has changed; the menu, decor, process have all stayed the same. The menu has risen in price, which is to be expected. However, I'm not sure if it was this particular location or even just this particular visit, but I found the pastrami to be rather dry and not at all warm, which was rather disappointing. One of my friends got the chili cheese fries, which are definitely delicious in the first few bites...but it can get old really quickly, especially if you're the only one eating it. Twice they've got my order wrong. First one I ordered 2 Turkey sandwiches with avocado and drove home to find they were tuna. Drove back and the person who I talked to gave me an attitude and said I ordered tuna. I don't even like tuna. They took them back and made mine. I don't know if they're threw them away but they kept the tuna ones. Second time I went ordered same Turkey sandwiches with cheese and I got like one slice of Turkey and no cheese even tho I paid for the cheese. I can't keep driving back and forth so I didn't go back but they keep messing up my orders. It's pricey enough and the fact that they don't add what you pay for sucks. read more

Always hit The Hat when I'm in CA. If you love a good CA Pastrami sandwich, you can go to any of them and get the same quality.

About two years ago, they shrunk the pastrami sandwich by about 20 percent. The sandwiches are a lot smaller now, with less meat, which is also what other reviewers are saying. On my last visit, the chili cheese fries were soggy and brown. The au ju sauce was incredibly salty and lukewarm (not hot). Might as well call it "salt dip" at that point. Also, not only did they shrink the sandwiches and cut the amount of meat, they also raised the prices for the sandwiches and chili cheese fries by over $4.00 for each item. This place is not worth it anymore. The Hat used to be great, but not anymore. Better places to eat in other cities. read more

OK, I am an old fart. I grew up eating pastrami dip from the Original The Hat in Alhambra. It was close to my parents old home and they always drove from or post WW II home in Monrovia to get a pastrami dip. I was probably getting little bites as far back as 1952 or 53. Over the decades I have eaten at The Hat in a number of locations. Usually consistent, very good pastrami, and they did not skimp on Pastrami! Great onion rings. Several years ago the Glendora location opened and it quickly became a favorite for my wife and I. However the last three stops at The Hat, all during pandemic, have been a bit disappointing. The amount of meat served has certainly gotten smaller and the quality is not as good as it once was. There seems to be quite a bit more fat on the pastrami being served. Prices have increased too. I will say that the onion rings are still killer. Another issue is the drive thru ordering. The speaker distorts as does, apparently, the microphone, making ordering difficult. Add in someone who is not native English speaker with poor pronunciation and we have a real fubar situation. This is something that can be easily remedied by site management in servicing the drive thru speaker system. The issue with the quality of the pastrami may be a corporate problem. I will try a couple of the other locations to see how things are. I really do not want to end a relationship of over 65 years without giving them a chance. read more

We found this place looking for an In N Out, after google maps took us to an In N Out that was still being built!!! Imagine our disappointment! Very old school place with lots to choose from including sandwiches and burgers. The burgers were huge and tasty and the fries, we ordered a large to split, must have weighed about 5 lbs! We enjoyed our new find (that is a chain BTW), who knew! Well now we all do! Good fast stop and very filling portion sizes. read more

Not happy with the hat.. for several reasons.. put in my order.. no problem, very efficient.. got my drinks. Tried several they were watered down. Mixture was off.. not happy. Get to my table and it's a mess.. no one cleans the tables.. so open the bag for napkins.. none.. apparently when you get your food you need to ask for them. Hell even McDonald's doesn't make you ask for napkins.. and she gave me plenty, guess she knew I was gonna have to clean the table.. tables clean, I open my fries eat one with my fingers so good.. I grab my sandwich out of the bag. And look for a fork.. guess what no fork.. I had to ask for a fork... I have a messy sandwich, and chili cheese fries. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know I'm gonna need a fork, and I'm gonna need napkins.. if this hat policy. The service here is amazing. They had so many workers cooking and prepping the food that everything operates like a well oiled machine. I placed my order online and paid at the restaurant. They then prepared my order right then and there which I only waited a few quick minutes before I got my food. It seemed that the manager was checking the food and handing them out for quality control which I liked since I had called in to edit my order. He confirmed my edits and I received my food as requested. Absolutely love the service as they were top notch. Can't go wrong with their classic pastrami dip and chili cheese fries! Been coming here for many years and the pastrami chili fries never disappoint. This is the best pastrami I've ever had and you can top it with whatever you like. The prices here are great for the portions you get. 1 chili cheese fries can feed 2 people. I work in the area so I've driven past here a bunch of times. I've been to many other Hat locations but this was a first here. Food was great, I ordered the roast beef dip with au jus. I also got an Orange Bang which is a sight for sore eyes. It's been a while since I've been to a place with Orange Bang so that was a pleasant surprise. The workers were pretty efficient with placing my order and also creating my food. Everybody was trained very well. The pastrami is also very good here. Pastrami on top of chili cheese fries is another good item that is worth trying, but make sure you have a couple of people with large appetites willing to share with you. They give you a bunch of fries and not enough ketchup. Place was kind of dirty the last time we were here. Customer service isnt the best. Racism over here towards black people. I asked the man at the register a few minutes ago if he could give me a small cup of thousand island that they use on their burgers/sandwiches and he said "it's against company policy, that's why we have the condiment packets" I further explained that the condiment packets look extremely orange and tasted weird and I offered to pay for the small cup of thousand island that they use. He said "no, it's company policy". Why is it so difficult to give good customer service if you have it there??? Ps. I have actually been given thousand island from behind the counter at this same restaurant about a month ago. Love the location, love the oldies music (don't find that around TO) Got the Pastrami Burger, Chilli Cheese Fries & Orange Bang. Burger was really good, fries was too much, lived the Orange Bang. I would not buy a sandwich and fries together as I struggled to finish both. Orange Bang brought me back to the orange creamsicles that I fondly remembered. If you like or love Pastrami and feel the same way about large portions, this is the place for you!! It's very easy to find The Hat. Once you are inside, it looks like a cross between a fast food burger joint and a diner. It is really open, clean, and inviting. After looking over the menu, we opted for 2 Pastrami Burgers, Pastrami Chili Fries, and Onion Rings to be shared between 4 people. In hindsight, it is well more than enough for even 5 people! The guy who rung us up was friendly. The burgers are quite big! 2 burgers in a bag that seemed to weigh 3 pounds or so! If you don't like cheese, be aware that the Pastrami burger comes with cheese melted on the hamburger, so scraping it off is not really an option. They do NOT skimp on the Pastrami on their food! It is piled so high! And I must say that the quality of the Pastrami is great... so easy to eat! Sometimes you get that Pastrami that is fatty or is stringy, you won't get that here! The onion rings were perfect! Nice amount of breading that was crispy, yet light. And the onion inside was easily bitten through. I hate it when I bite an onion ring and the entire onion comes out and I'm left holding the breading! As for the chili fries, well, there was so much pastrami I wasn't sure there were fries under that heap! There were! This place was constantly busy, but there were plenty of open seating. It was good to try this place out! If we're ever near The Hat and are super hungry, we would come back. I wouldn't make a special trip to eat at one. I love coming to this place. Being hungry is a must when you come here! I've gotten chili cheese fries with and without pastrami, cheeseburgers with and without pastrami, fries, pastrami sandwiches in the past. Portions are humongous! I have a big appetite, but cannot even finish their small fries when I order it with a burger or sandwich. Their burgers are good. The beef is done right, not too over cooked and is still somewhat moist. The pastrami while good, isn't as flavorful as other places. The pastrami still has good flavor, just mild. I come here when I'm craving chili cheese fries. They are so generous with both the chili and cheese... And of course fries! I'm glad they're open late so satisfy my fatty cravings. read more

We have been coming to this location off and on for a few years and it's pretty consistent. They are known for their pastrami sandwich. They call it a dip, but don't give you anything to dip it with. I'd like some Au jus to add even more flavors to the sandwich. It's good, but I prefer less fatty pastrami. We've ordered their chili cheese fries which are a heart attack on a plate, but they are sure good to snack on! The onion rings are perfect, but be warned: The portions are huge!! This place is the spot to go to for burgers around Glendora area. My opinion I think it's better than in n out. Anyways if you get a large order of fries that should feed about 4 people lol. No lie. Ok, I'm a vegetarian, but my bf loves their chilli burgers and if I ate meat I'd probably love them too. However, I'd have to eat them with a fork...sloppy joe style. The pastrami has so much meat I think the place must be owned by a cardiologist. French fries are good and plentiful. A small fry should feed a family of four. And, I really didn't see much difference between the small and the large, just that a large was too many. Their grilled cheese is good. I wish I could get grilled onions on it, but they don't grill onions. Service is quick, but perfunctory and curt. Would it slow them down to smile when taking your order? read more
