As good as I remember. Nothing has changed. Except maybe the pricing, but I can't even get mad at that since the portions have remained generous.
Ate lunch here with my two goofy brothers. Sam and I shared a really good hot pastrami sandwich and I also ordered an iced tea (free refills and I took one to go as well). The photo I'm posting is of the pastrami fries Paul ordered. Colossal and (he said) exactly as he hoped: hot crispy fries topped with steaming, tangy, tender meat and sharp melted cheddar. Definitely a heart-stopper but that's Paul for you. A good time and a good lunch.
Coming to The Hat was really nostalgic for me because this was the first Hat location I ever visited when I was 16 years old. Unfortunately, this visit really fell flat. The pastrami was nowhere near as flavorful as I remember from other locations, and the chili cheese fries were especially disappointing. They tasted bland, like they needed at least some salt, and the chili itself was honestly pretty awful. The restroom was also pretty messy, which stood out enough that even my son kept asking why it was so dirty. On the positive side, the location itself looked clean overall, the outside was well kept, and there was plenty of seating. The staff was just okay, not especially friendly, and the prices felt high for food that was less than mediocre. Sadly, this visit just did not live up to the memories.
YUMMERS. Absolutely delish, and the interior really gives a "classic deli" atmosphere and experience. The menu is filled with different delicious options, but if you're looking for a filling and delicious local pastrami sandwich, you can't beat $13!
I had a nice experience at The Hat (Glendora). I ordered the Pastrami Dip ($12.60) and the Chili Fries ($8.60) with Melted Cheddar Cheese (additional $1.99). The food includes well-prepared ingredients, big portions, and comforting flavors. I left full. (Important Note: This location includes a drive-thru.) I arrived at The Hat (Glendora) on Saturday (around 4:10PM). Parking is easy. The private lot is fairly big, and I quickly found a spot. The location was fairly empty during my arrival; however, the place got extremely busy as 5PM neared. I counted over eight cars in the drive thru. Staff is professional, efficient, and helpful. Staff answered all my questions, and Staff worked hard. To my utter shock, my food was ready in 25 seconds!!!! That's insanely fast! I wonder if they just prioritize dine-in over the drive thru. The food is filling. The Pastrami Dip ($12.60) arrived somewhat shriveled. It had an ugly, squished appearance, but the quality felt present. The bread is fluffy and springy. The pastrami is tender, juicy, and well-seasoned. Its pickle slice is also zesty and crisp. The flavors were satisfying. The Chili Fries ($8.60) with Melted Cheddar Cheese (additional $1.99) arrived picturesque. It looked gorgeous with its melted, stretchy cheddar cheese. Surprisingly, its chili came boiling hot. The chili is very wet, pasty, and under-seasoned. The fries are thick, hot, and squishy. And the melted cheddar cheese saves this bland chili fries with its stretchy texture and fresh cheddar flavor. At the very least, this dish is very big with satisfying textures. Regarding ambiance, The Hat (Glendora) is very spacious and clean. There's many interior tables, and there's several outside tables. The tables, floor, and windows are very shiny and well-maintained. This location also has high-chairs for families. There's also two gender neutral restrooms. The music is also very soft. The decor is tasteful, and it captures the feeling of history as it proudly displays photos of the past. Overall, The Hat (Glendora) is a good destination for comfort food. I appreciated my filling meal. And I left with plenty of leftovers. If curious, I recommend. 4.6 out of 5
Been to numerous The Hat locations before. This is a location that feels very spacious. There's a lot of parking available in a large lot, plenty of seating indoors, and a few outdoors. There's also a drive thru! I went on a Saturday at around 11:30 AM. It was moderately busy at the time but still plenty of seating available. I was able to order right away and it took around 6 minutes for everything to be ready. They do accept American Express as a payment option. I ordered (3) pastrami dip sandwiches and (2) chili cheese fries. The staff recognized that was a lot for one person to carry so he offered to give me a box. He went to the back to grab it, assembled it, and packaged everything neatly. It was very sturdy and made it easy to carry the order. Service is quick and great here!
Decided to drive down on a Friday evening at about 7:30 PM. I expected to find a long drive-through line, but there was about five in front of me. The line goes super fast. Service here is great, sometimes friendly sometimes just business like. Probably due to the amount of people they're helping at a time. I got the pastrami sandwich and the wet fries with gravy. Both were delicious and a huge portion. I opted to split both items plenty for two of us. They do have new sandwiches a tuna melt, veggie cucumber with provolone and avocado and a ham and cheese melt. Did not try these, but they looked good. As far as ambience, as other yelpers have stated there's plenty of room inside, a few tables outside and plenty of parking. I would also note that they have large vehicle parking in the back to accommodate even trailers. Fast food, delicious, ambience perfect for a fast food place and service, quick and professional. Definitely worth trying this place if you love pastrami.
Been going to the hat since I was a kid. It's always a hit whenever I'm craving fast food. The amount of pastrami that they give you is insane. The price is definitely justified with their portion sizes. My usual order is the pastrami chili cheese fries. I decided to try their pastrami sandwich and it was also delicious! Was stuffed with meat. I think their chili cheese fries are honestly my favorite. Service was excellent. We got our orders quickly and the hat has plenty of seating inside. The tables are clean too. Would highly recommend!
I stopped by The Hat and ordered their pastrami chili cheese fries--and wow, they are still as good as I remember them to be! The portion was huge, definitely enough to share (though I wasn't complaining about keeping most of it to myself). The pastrami was perfectly seasoned, piled high, and paired so well with the rich chili and gooey melted cheese. Every bite was indulgent and packed with flavor. The service was quick, and even though it was busy, the staff kept things moving smoothly.
This Hat location has quite a large parking lot so you should always have parking available. Inside the staff are friendly and ready to knock out your order quickly. Plenty of seating, inside and out. The food is always delicious and needs to be tasted to believe. Always a fan of the chili cheese fries and the double cheeseburger was on point. Please come down and support them, still very affordable as well

This location is not old but they do a nice homage to the original. Wood Paneling on walls, naugahyde seats. It not a dive though. Clean as a whistle. It's an order at the counter steam table place. Service super quick as they had several people working Now, to the pastrami. It's very good and serving is large.
The Hat. What can I say? It's been a staple for 70 years for good reason. My go-to is the pastrami dip. And extra dip. Today, my lunch plans cancelled and I was needing a quick bit by myself, so I dropped in. Wooden walls, fast service, horchata and Orange Bang... all the things I love about The Hat other than the food. Grabbed a cheeseburger and small fry today. Which, btw shouldn't be overlooked. The burger has a tomato, chopped fresh lettuce, cheese, and thousand island. Mmmm. Kinda want another. The small fry is anything but small, tossed in a brown paper bag with extras on the side. I'll be taking 2/3rds of them home. Gotta give The Hat a 5 for exactly what I wanted and needed today. Fast service, great food, throwback atmosphere. Or, if in a hurry, the drive thru is always an option too.
I just left The Hat in Glendora feeling I just gained 50 pounds from all the food I ate, but it was well worth it! What I ordered: * Double Cheese Burger - It was SO delicious! The bun was soft, cheese melted over perfectly grilled beef patties. Just under $8, it was very good! * Chili Cheese Fries - Extra Cheese - The amount of fries they give you here is ridiculous - this thing is huge! I added extra cheese so it came out to about $10. It was very good! Excellent location right on Route 66. It is about a block away from In & Out but my heart remains loyal to The Hat. Huge parking lot, with drive thru available. Big dining area with both indoor & outdoor seating available. Service overall was decent. read more

The Hat in Glendora has really good food, and we've always enjoyed the quality. Unfortunately, the pricing and service left us disappointed this visit. Charging $1.94 for a tiny 2-ounce side (if that) of BBQ sauce is completely out of your mind. I went to Stater Brothers and got an 18 Oz bottle (see attached) for $1.99. On top of that, we had to return to the drive-thru because our drinks were missing from the order. Good food can only make up for so much. Hopefully, they'll improve their attention to detail and reconsider charging so much for such a small side of sauce. Overall, 2 out of 5 stars. read more
I've been coming here since I was a teenager, and it's remained a consistent favorite over the years. Their pastrami sandwich is piled high and delicious--definitely a standout. The establishment has also been around since 1951, which says a lot about its staying power. I'll definitely continue to return and would recommend it to others. read more

This Hat location has quite a large parking lot so you should always have parking available. Inside the staff are friendly and ready to knock out your order quickly. A late night eat at the best pastrami fries join in SoCal. They always pack their fries with pastrami and chili cheese. It is a necessity to add tomatoes and pickles to help with the balance of each bite. The chili/cheese could be overpowering and salty pickle and fresh tomatoes give it some balance. The onion rings were crispy and not overly battered compare to other places. They give you a generous serving and you will need a group to tackle it. read more

Stopped by The Hat and ordered the pastrami with the dip and chili fries. Easily one of the better pastrami sandwiches I've had very authentic, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The dip really brought everything together and made the sandwich even better. The chili cheese fries were solid too. You can tell the chili was fresh, not canned or overly greasy, which made a big difference. The service was standard. They are Very direct and get your order done quickly. The place was clean and loved the ambiance. It had a very classic dinner feel which felt very warm and comforting. Simple, classic, and done right. Definitely worth the stop. read more

I thought this place was ok. The pastrami sandwich was really good but the grilled cheese had way too much much cheese but me personally i don't like that much cheese in mine so that might have been just me! The wet fries i thought it was white gravy i should have asked but it was dark gravy. I don't really care too much for dark gravy and the fries were really soggy! The service was ok they forgot about our order so we waited a while. The guy that was at the register was really nice. But overall wasn't that good. The place was really clean though and alot of places to sit! Id prob come back and just try something different honestly! read more

On my recent Cali trip I made a quick stop for my favorite pastrami sandwich & gravy fries. Nostalgic!!! The pastrami sandwich is not the standard deli version, this one is shaved pastrami on a roll with mustard and pickles. The pastrami burger is a juicy burger with pastrami on top. Don't forget the little yellow chilis, sometimes you get a spicy one otherwise they're pretty mild. The small fries are a huge order, perfect for sharing with another person. The wet fries are smothered in hot brown gravy (so good!)! The dining room is clean, there is some outdoor seating also, service is fast & friendly. Drive thru moves fast. read more
I wanted burgers that were cost efficient, so we ended up going to The Hat yesterday (before the game), since there were 5 of us. This location off Route 66 in Glendora was extremely packed!! Not just the inside, but the drive thru as well. Service was a bit slow. It took nearly 20 minutes for the food to come out. We ordered 5 Double Cheeseburgers, Large Onion Rings, and Pastrami Fries. The burgers were as always, freshly made, delicious, and filling!! The onion rings were very good, but a large is actually extra-extra large and we couldn't finish it. The pastrami fries were SOOO GOOD!! It's basically fries topped w cheese, chili (the chili is beef, I asked 3x), and a whole bunch of pastrami. If you like pastrami and chili cheese fries you'll love this!! Their pastrami is really good here, highly recommend!! We also got a side of gravy to top on the fries which gave it that extra flavor. *Tip: Ask for yellow chilies to go w your burger. No, they're not spicy but gives your burger a small kick!! Great hours!! They're open from 10 AM to 11 PM Mon-Wed, and 10 AM to 1 AM Thurs-Sun. WHAT!?!?! Gosh, I wish the Murrieta location would stay open that late!!! But this is good to know since I'm now in this neck of the woods. I looked for burger places around this area and the price here at The Hat just doesn't compare to other burger spots, since a double cheeseburger is only $7.59!!! Very good place to take a group when you're craving great quality burgers whilst trying to stay within budget, you get a lot of food at a lower price and the food quality is great!! read more
I'm not sure how many people come here & order a turkey sandwich but I did. Looking over the menu it sounded best to me. Im not a fan of pastrami or beef dips. Let me tell you it was the best turkey sandwich I ever had. I got it without tomatoes because I do not like them. The bread was fresh & soft the amount of turkey & lettuce was perfect. I will definitely get this again. I also got a small order of fries I shared with my son & we still had some leftover. A small is more than enough for 2 adults. I definitely will come again. I am so happy I found something I really like here. read more
I was passing by the Drive-thru of The Hat on the 4th of July, I was surprised that the place was open and packed. Since I always crave their Onion rings, I couldn't resist ordering some of their delicious ones. I usually start eating the warm onion rings once I got my order and while I am driving. I like the crunchiness, the savory and flavorful taste of the batter, and the quantity too. I also ordered Chili tamales, it came with crackers. It was also yummy and huge. The service was very fast. The employees were very friendly. Shoutout to all the employees who were working on the 4th of July, while others were relaxing and enjoying the holiday. I really appreciate their service. Big parking, drive thru and outdoor seating with cool retro inside. Clean table and booths. Clean restrooms. Quick and efficient orders. You can monitor your food order since they make them right in front of you. Old style restaurant order system with paper going down the string. Pastrami dip is huge with 2 inch of pastrami layers. The no touch drink dispenser is cool too. For sure your stomach and your tastebuds are satisfied and full. Your pocket might not Recommended. read more

Felt like having the Pastrami Dip sandwich and fries today! It was perfect for sharing since I only can eat half of it. Remembered to take a pic before splitting the food this afternoon at home. LOL The sandwich (4.5/5) was better today and did not have any weird rubbery/leathery pieces like last time. Deducted 0.5 because there was still less meat than before. Less bang for the buck...but still delicious. Will go again in a few months. Still would recommend this place if you like pastrami or if you have never tried it before. read more

On a hot summer day their cold sandwich was everything & more! Service was friendly and fast, and the restaurant was clean and well kept while still keeping its authentic look. A lot of seating indoor and outside and they even have a drive thru. We ordered a large fries to share and it was more than enough! Fries were decent- i've had better but they did taste great with the chili on the side- which was worth the extra $2! Overall, a good and affordable shop still living up to its name! read more

Loved this place since I was little. I always order the Pastrami sandwich, but the roast beef french dip is also another great option if you're not feeling the classic pastrami. Restaurant is spacious, open, and very clean. Service is great and always extremely helpful! read more

Are furry paws allowed?
They allow our fur-babies in the patio seating outside, but not inside. :)
Do they put fresh onion on the tuna sandwich? If they don't can you ask for it? I'm weird and I love fresh onion on my tuna sandwich!
You can always ask them to add onions to your sandwich. I enjoy my tuna sandwich with onions as well.
