I was in the area and craving pastrami. The Hat was my answer since I haven't had it in a while. I've been eating at The Hat since I was a kid. The quality is the same from past to present and even from location to location. The pastrami dip sandwich includes thinly sliced pastrami that sits between a french roll with a satisfying bread to deli meat ratio. I always order a side of their yummy onion rings, and there are more than enough rings for sharing. It was my boyfriend's first time eating at The Hat, and he enjoyed it as much I did. When I use to go to this location every now and then, I would always use the drive-thru. This was my first time dining at this location. There is seating inside and outside. The layout is very similar to other non-Alhambra locations. I also like looking at the old black and white pictures on the walls. They are from decades ago when the burgers were only a quarter and coffee sold for a nickel. There are other menu items such as burgers and chili cheese fries (a crowd favorite). Ok, I'm a vegetarian, but my bf loves their chilli burgers and if I ate meat I'd probably love them too. However, I'd have to eat them with a fork...sloppy joe style. The pastrami has so much meat I think the place must be owned by a cardiologist. French fries are good and plentiful. A small fry should feed a family of four. And, I really didn't see much difference between the small and the large, just that a large was too many. Their grilled cheese is good. The fries weren't salted after being fried and I question just how long they were in the fryer in the first place!!! Every french fry was soggy and you couldn't eat them without a fork!!! Don't waste your time or money at this location. We have been eating at The Hat for years different locations and super happy with food and service. But the last few times we have been so let down at this location in Glendora. And this last time was truly the last time we will EVER eat here. We have ordered the exact same thing for over 10yrs. The last couple times we were here the fries were greasy and soggy so we decided not to go to this location anymore figuring that they don't know what well done fries are. Today i told my husband let's just give them one more try. Bad idea. The order came out the same, fries were not well done, pale and soft. He asked the girl there "these are well done?" She paused and looked down at the fries, looked back at him and said "Yes". We didn't say anything further and just begrudgingly ate the food. But what really put things over the top was that almost through the fries i pick my fork in and see something odd. I looked close and it was a curled up piece of plastic. I was floored. Husband took the fries with plastic to the guy at counter and he said it was normal. Ill leave his name out. He said that it was from the sausage casing. Look I've been eating these fries for 10 yrs different locations and i have never seen that in my food. When my husband asked if it would be normal for him to eat the plastic all of a sudden he offered to refund the food. We didn't take the refund. Bones are inherent to when you eat fish, even beef but plastic in chili cheese fries, i do not agree. What horrible service. The guy at the counter was getting mad at us instead of apologizing. Being in Glendora and near Route 66, I thought I'd take a break from the traffic and finally give this place a try. I ordered the Pastrami Burger, and it blew my friggin' mind. This thing was huge; like Godzilla huge. I barely finished it off. Highly recommend it. As big as the Pastrami Burger was, the Chili Cheese Fries were even more enormous. I couldn't even make a dent in them before giving up. There should be a Surgeon General warning on this thing because you're sure to get a case of the Itis.
