Used to be a great restaurant. Now, they've remodeled and eliminated the customer waiting area, in order to put in counter seating. Really poor trade-off. So now, the customers either have to stand in the narrow doorway, or stand outside in the cold. Often on weekends, the wait is 20-30 minutes. It gets really cold standing there. The owners seem to have forgotten about their customers in their zeal to create a few more seats. It's really a shame, because the food is great and the staff is friendly and hard-working. You can't blame the staff for this...it falls directly on the owners. Suggestion to the owners. Come by on a weekend and try talking to the customers standing outside. Don't let the overly-generous ratings of two stars or better fool you...the food and service are the worst you'll find in town. I've had the displeasure of trying The Griddle several times, each time forgetting my dissappointment during previous visits. This past Sunday was the kicker. They typically hit one or two "bad" notes (service, food, poor value) but this time they hit the trifecta. Everything was completely horrible. Our food took a full hour from order to delivery...and most of it was wrong. I specified crispy bacon on a bacon and eggs order but breakfast came with no bacon and then was "corrected" with bacon that had literally been thrown on a grill and flipped in under 30 seconds. The waitress said that the cooks were mad at her and were doing it on purpose because of her. When we asked for the hollandaise for the other order (benedict that came without it) she went to get a side, came back and said that they couldn't do it because that was something they didn't microwave (do they just microwave everything else???) then made the comment that we'd have to pay for it anyway, (even though we hadn't questioned cost at all) and that "there's no way I'm going to be able to get it out here before everything else is cold, so it'd be best for you to just eat it." The only order that seemed right was the pancakes-only order for the child. When he complained (he's typically not picky) I flipped a pancake over to see that we'd been feeding him black, burned pancakes that had just been put on the plate with the nice side up. Pretty sloppy...just like everything else. Sadly, we couldn't even drown our sorrows (not that we would anyway) with the $6 "bottomless" mimosa. The server NEVER refilled them or the coffee or waters although she promised to many times. The whole disaster ended with us paying over $50 for two adults and a kid to eat a horrible meal. The manager never came by, the server apologized over and over but never fixed the issues, and we finally just paid the bill, a tip, and vowed to warn anyone who would listen to never try The Griddle. There are too many GREAT independent breakfast places in town to mess with this Utah import. read more

This upscale breakfast house has GREAT food and generally good service but we had a quite negative experience today. My fork had large amounts of dried food on the handle and the waiter took it away promising a replacement, The food came, but replacement fork was not provided until we asked for it. Then we also discovered dried food on the tines of my wife's fork also, so we again asked for a replacement. The waiter brought her replacement fork WHICH WAS ALSO DIRTY. After two dirty utensils, the waiter had not even examined the replacement to see if it was clean. We will probably give them another try in the future because of the quality food, but maybe not. read more

In my opinion, just a normal run of the mill breakfast joint. That isn't necessarily bad, just know when you come you will be getting a normal breakfast, no fancy twists or takes on regular dishes. The prices are normal for what you get, not overly sized portions. We hadn't been to this breakfast/lunch restaurant for awhile, and recently made a few visits. In my opinion, breakfast is the meal to have here. There's a large selection of egg dishes as well as crepes, pancakes, and waffles. The crepes are what I remember of traditional French crepes---thin and slightly crispy and these were filled with a cheesy filling with berries on top. This past Sunday we both opted for different egg dishes. I tried the special---Huevos Rancheros with hollandaise atop grilled chorizo. The eggs were poached as I like them and the chorizo was crispy and sliced to accommodate the eggs. A nice portion of crispy, bacon flavored hash browns complete the plate. My husband chose a bacon, pepper scramble also topped with hollandaise which he enjoyed. Orange juice is freshly made in a machine that's on display! Coffee is robust and fresh. Service is prompt and courteous in this busy place! Highly recommended for a good option for breakfast or lunch! read more

Given that I work in Eagle, I have been to both Joe Mommas and the Griddle many many times. The griddle has become my favorite of the two. The food is very good. But the staff is hands down much much better. The food also comes out much faster as well. I guess it is expensive for breakfast as some of the reviews state. I gave a lot of thought to what star rating I would assign to The Griddle and have come to the conclusion that a 2.5 is most appropriate based on my experience. My dining partner and I arrived for breakfast on a Friday morning and were able to find a table right away. The atmosphere is welcoming and bright and our server was cordial but seemed to be in a rush, despite the restaurant being only mildly busy. We started with coffee, which the menu indicates is freshly roasted just for the restaurant, but was served warm, not hot, and I noticed nothing spectacular or above par about the quality. It was just standard diner coffee, and at $2.50 a cup I expected something more impressive. My dining partner ordered the crepes with a cream cheese filling and a peach compote for $8.50. The crepes were light and tender, but the filling and topping was cloyingly sweet and she couldn't get more than a few bites down. I ordered the Auntie Moe's potatoes (hash browns with bacon, cheese, and onions) served with toast and two eggs for around $10. The sourdough bread was high quality and fresh but the potatoes and fillings were, again, just standard run of the mill diner fare. Also, the food was a bit lukewarm and the portions are not very generous. My ultimate complaint lies with the eggs. I ordered mine "over medium," which I understand to mean whites fully cooked with a slightly runny yolk. The eggs came over easy, a completely runny yolk and the whites around the yolk were raw. I was totally understanding of this mistake and it's easily fixable so I decided to eat some of my potatoes and toast, expecting our server to return to check on us soon, but it took 10 minutes for him to show up at our table after delivering our food. When I informed him that my eggs were not cooked how I ordered them he was very apologetic and had some new ones brought out promptly. When he delivered the fresh eggs, he left the table immediately without taking away the old ones and did not wait for me to cut into the new eggs to make sure the problem had been corrected, and it wasn't. Once again the egg yolk was raw and the whites were completely runny. He did not return for another 10 minutes and by this point I just gave up hope on the eggs and ate the other things on my plate. When he returned with the ticket I told him that the eggs had again not been cooked properly which he apologized for once more and said he would discount our bill. It took several more minutes to come back to the table to get us change. Since this was my first visit to The Griddle, I don't know if the slow service, lukewarm food, and inability to cook an over medium egg is par for the course here, or just an unfortunate aberration, but with a variety of other breakfast restaurants in town where I can get essentially the same menu items in larger portions for identical (or lower) prices that are actually served hot, I don't know that I will be coaxed to return. read more

This is a great breakfast restaurant. If you like your hash browns crispy but not burnt order them golden. Also when ordering eggs Benedict if you like your English muffin toasted with butter let them know. Everything is made from scratch so prepare to wait. I've eaten here countless times. The prices are a couple dollars more than what you expect for breakfast, but it's paid back to you in better quality than anywhere! Arrived at 1:18. They close at 2 PM but we thought it was plenty of time to eat and leave without disrupting closing. I have worked in food service for 21 years and am always courteous to the staff. We were promptly greeted and sat by a young lady who was very nice. After she brought our drinks she said a server would be right with us. We were ignored while multiple servers walked past for 15 minutes after being ready to order. We were the only new table and the Restaurant was half full. Not even a greeting from anyone, or I'll be right with you. After going to the counter to return my daughters rotten skim milk (not exaggerating) and asking about a server, a young man with reddish hair apologised and came over with a new glass of milk. He gave us good service after that and offered a free cinnamon roll for our wait. After a discussion with another server and a "go check in the walk in" a cinnamon roll appeared from the back with an awkwardly runny sour tasting frosting that seemed to be made "special" for us. My kids wouldn't eat the frosting, which speaks for itself. The food was served 46 minutes after being seated, and came out in staggered increments. Fries were cold, crepes were swimming in raspberry sauce, bacon was missing, etc.... I was Wondering why our food took so long until I saw four employees eating food at the same time as us and a few more came out with plates shortly thereafter. I understand employees need to eat, but not sacrificing the quality of a guests experience. The garbage cans were overflowing, no management anywhere. (One employee mentioned she was in the kitchen) This is the first time in years I have tipped under 25%. I usually only leave positive reviews. I would not go back if I had a gift certificate for $500. read more

Well, our recent visit was sub par. Had to ask several times just to get water and coffee while we waited 20 minutes just to order. The California Benedict was cold and came with 2 small slices of avacado. I was charged 3.50 for a side of avocado. Our waitress passed by several times with our drinks empty. I just had lunch with my son at the Griddle. We were the only patrons. Maybe because it was lunch. My son had one of their $10+ breakfasts platters. You get the same thing at The Egg Factory for half the price. There was absolutely nothing special or memorable. I had a Jamaican jerked burger. You would expect the burger to have some kick. It was slightly sweet and tasteless. . The fries were hot and fresh because we were the only people in the entire place.. Overall, the food was overpriced. Five Guys has better burgers. The Egg Factory and Cafe Express have better breakfasts. I give this place 6 months. There's absolutely nothing that would draw me back to this place. read more

I'm giving my favorite place for crepes 2 stars strictly due to the service we received today. We arrived during the lunch rush, we were seated in 10-15mins and given menus. Our waiter seemed rushed and a bit frantic when he asked us what we wanted to eat...after we had literally just been seated. We ordered our drinks and requested a few more minutes. When my iced tea arrived I requested Splenda. He came back to take our order and still seemed rushed. I ordered my lunch and an order of crepes to go. I felt like our waiter was half walking away while we were still trying to order. Still no Splenda. Our food arrives and we request condiments and Splenda. No apology for forgetting the Splenda and again, he was walking away as we were making these requests. Once we were both finished with our meal (a small baby was fed and the mother then returned to her food...so it's not like we ate quickly), our waiter showed up and asked us if everything was ok. By this time the lunch rush was gone and he I feel he had time to come by sooner to ask about our meal. We asked for our check and my crepes are nowhere to be seen nor are they on my bill. I ask our waiter how long the crepes will take and reassure me they won't take anytime at all - again, not so much as an apology for forgetting. Easily 10-15mins passes and I notice a styrofoam container on the counter in the kitchen and I wonder if it's mine. I watch our waiter walk past it atleast 3 times and realize it must not be mine. We continue to wait an unreasonable amount of time and I finally to ask the hostesses about my order. They return in seconds and inform me that our waiter is wrapping it up for me. Yep, it was my order in the styrofoam container that he passed several times.He arrives with my crepes - no apology and again, feeling rushed. I wanted to scratch off the tip I left in the receipt, but at this point I just wanted to get out of there. I've never understood why people like that are working directly with people at job that almost solely relies on tips. This is coming from someone who worked at job where most of my wages came from tips. I was extremely disappointed in the service we received but the food was great and I will be back. However, I will ask to be reseated if that waiter is assigned to my table. read more

Pretty decent breakfast/lunch place - service was a little spotty (food came out at different times) but everything we had was tasty. The kids meals seemed a bit overpriced ($5 for a chocolate chip pancake - albeit a large one - would have rather had a smaller 'cake with some bacon or other meat on the side so my kid wasn't in a sugar coma the rest of the day). I did like the tuna melt and my husband enjoyed his breakfast quesadilla. I'm sure you could do better, but I'm sure you could also do a lot worse :) That said, not a place I would wait in line to eat. It was not crowded on a Friday during the lunch hour. read more

The food was amazing! I'll definitely be back. I had an egg white omelet with fresh spinach, bell peppers, & tomatoes. It was topped with pepper jack cheese & their delicious homemade salsa. The hash browns were obviously from freshly sliced potatoes & cooked perfectly. My friend had the s'mores pancakes...2 could easily have feed 3 people. The freshly squeezed orange juice was nice just way too pricey. I won't be ordering the OJ again. Overall I was impressed with their food quality & restaurant cleanliness.
