Always been a good spot and me and my family used to come here regularly. Great service, good food and fresh squeezed OJ really is a perk. Unfortunately, I learned a rather concerning tidbit few months ago from a former employee who hasn't worked there in years. Owners make their employees pay for customers walking out on tabs. I went to a location for the last time a few months ago when I asked someone working if it was true. They confirmed, and that it happens every once in a while. Every once in a while is still not okay. I told them it was illegal and to never oblige. Illegal, and seriously disappointing. Me or my family will not be giving them any more of our hard earned money. I've waited a few months to post this to protect the employee. I am posting because these owners probably do worse than make a poor college kid pick up a $50 tab and I have no faith that reaching out directly would change what they do. I visited Boise a couple days ago and found this place on google maps. It was so good after going the first day, I decided to go for breakfast there for the rest of my trip. I had the breakfast quesadilla and the breakfast burrito. The person I ate with had a traditional breakfast with eggs, hashbrowns, toast and bacon. Everything was super fresh tasting, even the drip coffee. Anytime I visit Boise I will make it a point to stop by this place for breakfast. My boyfriend and I were on the road and looking for a yummy spot to stop and have breakfast. This place looked and sounded amazing. We get there and I tell a server that we are seated outside, to which he responded "ok, I'll be right out there". Except he never came. They served people who had just walked in before anyone approached us. After 15 minutes, my boyfriend asked a server why we weren't being served. They finally came to talk to us about 20 minutes after we had sat down, but by that point we didn't want to give them our business. Extremely disappointing... NOT BLACK FRIENDLY! I thought maybe this was the same "Griddle" as in Los Angeles, but it's different. The biscuits and gravy here are quite large and flavorful compared to other places I've been. My sister-in-law really liked her crepe and everyone else in our party was happy with their choices too. I was a little bummed that the chorizo was in sausage form and not ground up, but it still tasted good. The menu had a lot to choose from and the servers were very friendly. Waitor's were friendly and helped decipher what to get from the menu because there was a lot of good dishes to choose from. There is a super long wait for ok food. The service was great. But I hungry! The tables are very close together as well. Last time I was there, half of the restaurant was not being used and waiting patrons were loitering on the unused tables. Just a weird unprofessional vibe. read more

This was the second time having breakfast at the Griddle, (our first visit exactly a year ago was very good and would have earned 4 stars or more). Hash browns were dry and served moderately hot. Chicken fried steak was just average and gravy was lacking in real flavor. The chorizo quesadilla was very good but, the accompanying dry had browns was a turn off. The BEST breakfast in Boise! Service is so friendly and the food is amazing. We had an omelette with mushrooms, ham, bacon and cheese with hash browns and toast. The toast came with homemade jam. It was excellent. We also had a combo breakfast with scrambled eggs, freshly ground sausage patty, and French toast with a pecan bacon caramel sauce. This was quite possibly one of the best French toast dishes I've ever had. I'll be thinking about it until I can return! read more

My research of Idaho and my Boise friend's intel pointed to lamb as being one of the great things to eat in Idaho. My husband had eyed the lamb burger when we stopped at the Nampa location for breakfast the day before. When our driver, my friend's younger brother, didn't have any suggestions, we decided to go with The Griddle again, this time in Boise. I ordered tea and the presentation was exceptional along with the selection. My husband ordered the lamb burger with sweet potato slaw. The slaw was surprisingly good and, no surprise, the lamb burger was delicious. My husband thought it was a little small, but not as small as the ones at Umami burger and this one had a better bun. I had the fruit and granola waffle. Beautiful scattering of fresh berries and generous dollops of whipped cream. The granola added more crunch. Very happy with this. read more

Saturday morning before a football game ! Wow this was a popular place. When I arrived and I saw folks sitting outside and thought, in words of Scooby, "ruh, roh", but quickly learned that since I was a "onesie" there was room at the counter for me. The service was excellent; the crew members worked together in perfect harmony . I loved how when a server called, "I need followed!" someone always jumped to their assistance to help carry ALL the bounty to the eager eaters. I was on a mission . Biscuits and gravy; it is my comfort food and I am one picky camper. Biscuit =Massive. Gravy=very good (maybe excellent) but just a little less than needed compared to the size of the biscuit. There I said it, "I want more gravy". Their biscuit and gravy is PLENTY of food for me, so I was a wee bit disappointed that I did not have an option just to order one biscuit swimming in gravy. It came with potatoes and an egg. These looked just fine, but I do not eat eggs unless I have met the chickens and I am not a potato fan. (shhh, I am in Idaho) . I do want to say the food coming out of that kitchen was beautiful. Every plate was a sight to behold. Nice people, good food, good service. I will go back. read more

Don't come if you're concerned about COVID! 3 staff members weren't wearing masks, including those serving food & coming within 6 feet of customers while indoors. When we complained to management & asked if they could wear masks, they said they had asthma & offered no apology. Poor customer service, possibly exposing their customers to COVID. Would've been nice if they had chosen to keep non-mask wearing employees out of food handling. And perhaps would've been nice if management was COVID-conscious. read more

If you're looking for a breakfast place with a great menu and atmosphere, this place is it. The prices are not expensive. The atmosphere is very good. It almost has an atmosphere that feel like it would be vegan. However, they have great breakfast that does include meat products! The oatmeal was fantastic. We recently had the pleasure of dining at The Griddle for an early Sunday afternoon brunch. We arrived around 12:30 and there was about a 15 minute wait. Be prepared to wait substantially longer if you arrive before 11am. I ordered the Golden Gate $10 (anyone watch "The League?" Lol) which is essentially their turkey bacon and avocado sandwich served hot. The bread was incredible and had roasted red peppers and Parmesan grilled into it. The turkey and bacon proportions were very generous and I was only able to eat half. The sandwich came with a single slice of avocado, but when the server saw that, he immediately brought more avocado. I was impressed. My wife ordered the almond crusted French toast which was also very unique. It appeared as if they'd added some more egg batter on the top side and sprinkled shaved almond on it and then grilled the top side. It was remarkable how well they were able to execute this without drying out the bread or, conversely, having it be soggy inside. It was excellent! Definitely enough where you could share, but she ate 2/3 of it and save me a few bites. Hats off for an excellent brunch! Whether you're a Boise local or just passing through, The Griddle is 110% worth the stop. I've been in for brunch a couple of times and never have I ever been disappointed or let down. The menu is large enough to meet all of your hunger needs but not so extensive it confuses you. The California Benedict is by far the tastiest brunch item, even tho California sucks. Highly recommend pairing it with a half-carafe of their freshly squeezed OJ Mimosa. The staff is pretty much badass and always attentive and at the ready. Daniel and Lexi we're both super kind and helpful the last time I stopped in. Everyone there makes you feel at home and the cooks must have their shit together because the food is bomb. We waited patiently for an hour while our server kept making excuses about how the kitchen had a bunch of to go orders and our food would be right out. We noticed people getting there food that ordered after us. The server then came and told us the kitchen had lost our ticket and asked to take our order again. At that point we just got up and left. I've never experienced anything like that and cannot believe this place does so much business. In my opinion this is a prime example of where things are headed if you can find people to show up they are absolute idiots. This place is a family-owned diner with an atmosphere that reminds me of the coffee shop Central Perk on the tv show, Friends. I came here during a trip to Boise, and really enjoyed the food, the fresh-squeezed orange juice, and the colorful atmosphere. The eggs benedict had a lemony-hollandaise sauce and delicious chunks of smoked salmon, all served on a delicious croissant. I'd suggest trying their mimosas too. They squeeze their oranges and add a decent amount of champagne. This is a place to bring friends or your parents. I have had the whole combo of eggs, hash browns and toast at so many places that the good and bad stands out! Overall I might try this place again .... Not sure! We stopped here for breakfast on our trip from Portland to Yellowstone. The servers were so friendly and welcoming. They had great senses of humor and out up with mine and my wife's. The atmosphere was great. Very "dinerish" and had the comfiest chairs. I'm a big guy, so that's important to me. The food was exactly what we were looking for. Go somewhere else if you're looking for mediocre breakfast food. (I'm looking at you, Denny's). My wife had the Pecan waffle combo and could barely finish it. I finished it for lunch. ;) I had the chicken fried steak which was hand breaded to order. The gravy was amazing and the steak was melt-in-your-mouth tender.
