Delicious! Went here for lunch and loved it. We started with a shareable Greek salad which was great and not too hard to share. Sometimes trying that with a salad can be complicated. I got the salmon burger. It was not breaded. The burger fell apart as you were eating it. That's how you know it was good. They didn't use a bunch of egg or breast to glue it together like some places do. The patty was all fish. Does make it a little harder to eat. It wasn't the best choice for a business meeting. It came which fried and I forgot to ask for no salt. However they really didn't taste salty. Seemed like they seasoned it with something else. Something green. It was very chill for lunch. This restaurant will close soon. The owner is a sick character who doesn't want to hear anything negative about his restaurant. I ended up with a terrible stomach ache after eating uncooked, stale food. When I complained to him about the quality of food, he asked me to go to a hospital. Apparently he can't stand insult and anything against his restaurant. For your health's safety DON'T go there. I've been to several Greek restaurants and this place can easily win the worst restaurant award. The food was horrible. Left very bad after taste. We had ordered calamari for appetizer and cold spread. Calamari was partially cooked and charred for the other part. If you prefer lemonade, they get you a bottled lemon drink that's like a soda. Chicken soup was bland, no salt, no taste of any sort. For main course, swordfish was so hard and terrible to eat, it tasted like a bitter medicine. You can't have more than a bite or two and look at the price that you pay. Even the cold spread, just the bread was soft but the spread were tasteless and awful. Definitely avoid visiting if you don't want to get sick! The dessert was a disaster as well, bitter tasting dessert. Excess of cocoa powder used, hard ice cream that won't melt even after 15 min. I'm a repeat customer who originally found The Greek on Main on Yelp and have returned several times specifically for the Astakomakaronada. It was consistently excellent and worth the drive. That dish is why I drove over 20 miles today -- and why this visit was so disappointing. The Astakomakaronada has been completely changed. What used to be a generous, well-balanced lobster pasta in a tomato cream sauce is now served with the pasta inside the lobster body, the lobster fully in the shell, and noticeably less pasta. At $52, the experience felt more like work than a meal. Cracking claws, digging for meat, and trying to stay clean in an all-white dining room is not what this dish used to be -- or what's still shown in Yelp photos. Less than a third of the way in, my napkin was already heavily soiled. I asked if the dish could be prepared the original way. The waitress kindly checked with the kitchen and told me the owner has decided this is now the only preparation. She offered a lobster gyro, which I declined, and removed the Astakomakaronada from my check. Still, I left hungry and on a time crunch, having to ask for a bag for my leftover salad and bottled water before heading to my next meeting. When a signature dish changes this drastically, expectations should be updated. BYOB Greek restaurant with a variety of menu options that cater to all dietary restrictions (Vegetarian, pescatarian etc). Definitely recommend making a reservation in advance as it can get busy, especially in the summer (learnt the hard way). Cute, dimly lit interior. We started off with the pita and dips, mussels/clams and three cheese saganaki. The mussels were flavorful as well as the saganaki (specifically the halloumi). For the main, we originally wanted to share the whole red snapper, but since it was not available, we went for the Branzino which was also excellent. There were quite a few bones so just beware. Interesting greek restaurant trying to index toward high end BYOB. We had a nice server but she was not great. Had to ask to find her a few times and the trail of her perfume helped us locate her. Branzino was outstanding. Also, tried the short ribs which I would not recommend- it's was served off the bone and mixed in with orzo pasta and was like eating chef boyardee. The wine I picked out was outstanding however it would have been nice if the server poured one glass for us. Not sure Id recommend, maybe try lunch but dinner not so much. read more

Came here for a graduation celebration. The inside is dimly lit, with lots of seating options. We had a party of 6, and they were easily able to accommodate us. The appetizers were not too memorable, but the main dish, pork chop, was well cooked. The only issue I had was the price - it's definitely on the higher end, and the service was not as attentive as we had to consistently try to flag down a waiter. It's a nice spot for celebrations, and they have plenty of seating outside as well. We came for dinner, so the price is expectedly higher- I wonder if the lunch menu is better? My family has dined here twice so far & we honestly cannot get enough of the food here. The Greek on Main's take on upscale Greek dining is truly addicting and leaves even the pickiest of eaters satisfied. We dined in on New Year's Eve wanting a nice dinner to end the year on. My father insisted over and over he didn't like Greek food, and after trying one bite of the appetizers he took back those words immediately. A crowd favorite amongst our table was the grilled octopus - perfectly cooked, just the right amount of char, and overall beautifully done. We also got the dip sampler & consumed an ample amount of bread (dipped in Greek olive oil may I add - yum!!) so we were pretty full and resulted to sharing dishes for our mains. If you're unsure of what to order, look no further and order the pork chop. This chunk of meat was a showstopper and had our party asking the staff where they source their meat because it was that unbelievable. The pork chop melted in your mouth and was juicy, something completely uncommon for most pork chop dishes. Presented as a tomahawk, this main dish had the entire table wanting to hold the bone in their hands and eating like a caveman (but don't worry, we didn't!) The staff here are always patient and kind, and I loved the opportunity of dining in for a holiday because we got the opportunity to see the staff in flashy New Years accessories. My boyfriend and I found ourselves hungry in Metuchen. So we went to The Greek On Main. The day we were there a cocktail mixologist was creating amazing drinks. I enjoyed two mocktails that were refreshing and delicious. The food was really good and the server was attentive. After our meal we received complimentary baklava which was a tasty surprise. I loved the baklava so much my boyfriend asked for a container to take home with us. Incredibly we weren't charged for it. I ate some in the car and finished the rest at home it was so good. Went to this place on a Saturday night without reservations. It's BYOB and we were able to get seated for two in about 10 minutes. The food was okay- they have a vegetarian menu which was convenient. The service was a negative 5 out of ten. Our waitress, buse was less than enthused by our presence. She opened our bottle of wine, took our order and we didn't see her until we got our check. She opened the bottle of wine but didn't pour it, forgot our water but came back with a bottle but again didn't pour it, then never checked on us once. I couldn't tell if she was racist or just didn't want to be there. We asked for salt but that was never brought because she never came back. Otherwise, the restaurant looked cozy. My partner and I have been happy regular patrons of this restaurant for years now. The Greek on Main have always catered for all our bigger family and business events that took place off their premises as well. Our last visit was on Valentine's Day. Upon arrival, I got a little nervous because the entire place was renovated, so I was crossing fingers the menu and chef didn't change. Especially that the host who greeted us was new too , a very polite young lady btw, she checked our reservation and seated us promptly. Then, a familiar face walked up to our table, the wonderful and very knowledgeable server Bousse. She welcomed us and reassured me that my favorite chef and menu are still here just in a fresh new look. She went over all the specials and got us drinks. We ended up ordering from the regular dinner menu. For appetizers, we had calamari and cold spreads. The calamari is always cooked to perfection here, one of those things I crave when I'm out of town. For dinner, my boyfriend ordered Paidakia (grilled lamb chops) to die for at medium rare, I don't know if they are good to be as juicy at other temperatures. I had Xifias (grilled swordfish) a true Mediterranean flavor profiles voyage with beluga lentils, roasted red peppers, tomatoes, capers & Kalamata olives. We were pretty full, but we decided to share a dessert to elongate our experience in this beautiful atmosphere with great music, food and beautiful joyful people around. We ordered Sokolatopita and we asked our server if we could congratulate the owner on the new look. Bouse came back with our coffees chocolate cake and a complementary baklava from the chef sending thanks and letting us know he's a little busy at the moment. Both deserts were very good . Thank you for another amazing dinner and evening. We're coming back Tuesday when you guys are less busy for dinner. Had one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever encountered. The food itself was unacceptable -- parts of it were undercooked, other items were burnt, and some tasted stale, as if they had been sitting out far too long. It was extremely disappointing, especially given the expectations from a Greek restaurant where freshness and proper preparation are fundamental. However, what made the experience truly unacceptable was the owner's behavior. When we politely raised our concerns and provided honest, constructive feedback, instead of listening or trying to resolve the situation, the owner became aggressive and started shouting at us. He accused us of insulting him and his restaurant simply for pointing out genuine issues with the food. This kind of response is completely unprofessional and disrespectful to paying customers. Feedback is a normal part of running a restaurant, and reacting with hostility instead of accountability speaks volumes. I would strongly not recommend this place based on both the poor food quality and the unacceptable behavior from the owner. There are many other restaurants that value their customers and take pride in both their food and service. read more

I hate to have to leave a bad review because before this incident I was such a huge fan of Greek on Main- honestly it was my favorite resteraunt in metuchen. On April 9th I ordered a tomato salad with squid (add on) through grubhub. They sent me the squid salad, kitchen probably read the ticket wrong. I got a refund through grubhub and decided to reorder through their website. I had my husband pick up & gave the direction "if there's lettuce then it's the wrong item". So upon not seeing lettuce he brought home the salad. The salad was full of chunks of bread - something that was not in the description on grubhub, their website or any photos. I called obviously upset and not wanting to try for a third time to get a salad that cost almost $30 with the squid add on. They said they could not give me a refund because there was no manager in. I called the following day - no manager no refund. They took my name & number assuring me a manager would call. No one ever did. So either this place is run by no one or by liars & thieves. read more

Some great prime local dining fit for your large family, the staff and service bring out this awesome, auntie, homey vibe which makes you feel right at home. Their pre-fixe options are great for those new to Greek and Mediterranean cuisine. Their portions are massive and incredibly flavorful. Try saying...Astakomakaronada when you want to order this dish. Instead I just pointed to it on the menu. I'll have the lobster meat with spaghetti. This Greek pasta dish intrigued me. I noticed how thick the spaghetti looked. When it arrived to the table, I saw that it was hollow inside each strand, this made for a very light tasting pasta. There were generous amounts of lobster meat and the ouzo infused tomato cream sauce finished off the dish wonderfully. We also had the Drunken Clams & Mussels. Sounds like some sort of Chinese Kung-Fu flick. Lol. Get this appetizer. The broth was so heavenly delish that I actually used a spoon and drank it like soup!!! In New Jersey for a special occasion, we met with my sister in Metuchen for dinner and afterwards felt like dessert and coffee so decided to visit The Greek on Main. Decorated outside and inside we were quickly shown to a table and served by a very nice server Gabby who gave us recommendations and was very attentive. Authentic delicious Greek food. We ordered the saganaki and crab cakes as starters and for mains I had the prawns kritharotto which apparently is what this restaurant is known for. We also ordered the lobster dish (astakomakaronada) - both dishes were excellent and the seafood was extremely fresh My kids got the chicken souvlaki plate with fries- very generous portions! I was a little surprised at bill which added an extra $7 if you pay by credit card- I'm not sure if this is common practice but I was very taken aback (we don't have such a surcharge in Canada where I'm from). Our server was great and the restaurant is really cute with great Ambience and very kid friendly My daughter had a fit when we were there and everyone was so kind and patient with us which I appreciated since 2yr Olds can be so unpredictable. I arrived early because I was coming from quite a ways away and wasn't sure about traffic. The sweet woman who was our server let me stash the wine in her wine fridge (and I even opened it while waiting!). We had a great spot by the window which was fun for some people watching while I waited. Once my friends arrived, we quickly settled into menus and were given time to look things over. We did a quick order of some dip trio to start, and then I opted for the chicken over pasta, a friend got the salmon, and another friend selected a flatbread. portion sizes were good for us but if you are running on empty, make sure to stock up on some appetizers to fill out your meal as the portions are decent but not "American-sized" if you know what I mean. Wow ! My first time here today and I'm very impressed. I walked in, no RSVP on a Friday evening and got seated immediately. The restaurant is cozy( feels like dining in a nice living room) It's BYOB so be sure to bring your own bubbly. The BREAD is AMAZING. I think I would have been happy with just that lol. But the pork chops were just as tasty. Large portion size and nicely seasoned. My waiter and I joked about how Greek food needs to be more Spicy but I honestly didn't mind. That's how good it was. My least favorite part of the meal was the chocolate cake. It was wayyy to sweet. My waiter Nicholas was kind, knowledgeable ( even though he was new) and attentive. One of my friends and I got together to get some lunch. I made reservations for 1pm. When I arrived I found parking on the street. I walked in and told the hostess I had reservations and she went to sit us in the cut. I wasn't feeling that too much so she moved us. Camila was our server and um she seemed to be bothered a bit. Not sure why. She took a bit to get to the table as well. The restaurant is byob and I had a bottle of wine. I asked Camila to open the bottle. She handed me the opener to open myself which was a little surprising. I tried and her opener was tough to use. She had to bring it to the kitchen for it to be opened. Now it was time to order and I ordered the chicken gyro and my friend ordered the crab cakes for appetizers and lamb chops for her entrée. She enjoyed both her dishes. The gyro for me wasn't bad. Docking a star because we called and asked when they serve the lunch menu till (because we wanted to try several of the lunch sandwiches) and they explicitly told us 4pm. We showed up at 2:45 and they told us they changed their policy that day and already stopped serving lunch at 3. So that started the experience off a bit sour for us. However everything we did try on the dinner menu was nice. Standouts were the crab cakes and the squid ink pasta.
