Quality, inexpensive, Mediterranean eats paired with an awesome patio bar on a nice weather day and this is where you'll find me for happy hour.

I woke up craving Lebanese food and found this place on Postmates. Not exactly what I was going for but it's "Lebanese adjace" - close enough to satisfy my craving. I wanted to be more adventurous with ordering an entree, but I decided to play it safe since it was my first time trying this place and i wasn't sure if a full entree would transport well. The food was prepared quickly, and Postmates did a great job of delivering on time. Here's what I ordered: - Lentil soup: It was good but oily and too runny, and I think there were bits of it has rice in it which was unexpected. - Turkish coffee: delicious and fragrant. No cream or sugar needed. - Falafel sandwich: The fresh pita was so fresh! A+ for that. The inside was a bit on the dry side. I should've asked for extra sauce. - Fatush Salad (regular): This was good I just wish there were more cucumbers and tomatoes and less lettuce. It also would've benefited from a little bit of feta cheese.

I've always loved coming to this place. It's on Rutgers campus so parking is a little hectic but the food is good! They have inside and outside seating. The outside has a bar and the food is great !

After my Godsons high school graduation we went to New Brunswick for dinner since he starts Rutgers this fall. It was almost 11pm and we went to Evelyn's. The indoor dining room was closed so we walked directly to the back entrance of the outdoor dining bar area. Located between Evelyn's Restaurant and Barca City Cafe & Bar is a roomy out door dining area with tables spread out surrounding the bar. Dimly lit with good music and a fun respectful crowd. The gentleman host/server welcomed us immediately with open arms and gave us a table. He gave us a menu for Evelyn's and also for Barca. My mind was blown as we were able to order from 2 different places. What a perfect night June 23rd at 11pm. A very comfortable, outdoor, laid back, loungey vibe with chill patrons, great servers, TWO MENUS, delicious food, perfect cocktails and a great price. All the food and drinks were perfect. Everything we ordered from both restaurants tasted scrumptious. See pictures for names of what we ordered. Special thanks to the 2 guys working that night. Everything was flawless. My older brother, younger brother,  Godson and I all agreed on the 5star food, service and atmosphere.

Went here for a nice sit down dinner with a girlfriend. They had many vegan options but also was out of a lot of things like spinach pie, honey, milk. The waitress seemed like she was just starting out and never cleared my empty drink glass or menus. We basically ate with our plates on our menus. Food was ok, nothing phenomenal. Guess if your looking for a quick bite and drink stop by, but this was not the nicest experience for going out to dinner.

I've previously been to the bar several times for a Malibu bay breeze, but this was my first time actually dining at Evelyn's. My friend and I were very indecisive so we ended up asking the staff for recommendations, which they were more than happy to provide. We ended up splitting two appetizers - the spinach pie and falafels. My friend also got the mocktail version of the tartini, which she thought was the perfect combination of sweet and sour with a lemonade aftertaste. However, she was saddened to learn that even without the alcohol, the mocktail was the same exact price as the cocktail. The two spinach pies were too sour for my taste and the exterior wasn't flaky like I had hoped it would be. The falafels were also subpar to me; I thought they were too dry but I appreciated that everything was presented nicely!

Stuff your face next door was way too crowded so my husband and I walked to find lunch elsewhere. There's indoor, outdoor, and rooftop seating. It's a two building restaurant. They don't have enough waiters - we could tell they were short staffed with so many customers. They confused our baba ganoug with the appetizer instead of entree. They were nice to fix that for us. The schwarma is really well seasoned. Kibbeballs were great too - its better than falafels. We had lots and lots of hummus. It just came with everything but they also give alot of it not just a dollop.

Not the best food, but still enjoyable. Their hummus is a solid 10/10 though! I miss the pre-covid Evelyn's with their outdoor area in the back, but it seems like they're taking necessary measures to keep everyone safe and protected. We also asked for hand sanitizer and the waitress kindly gave us a whole gigantic bottle for us to use throughout our meal. Can't wait to be back again for their delicious hummus.

Overall: 4.00 Evelyn's is a great place to introduce Lebanese food into your life. Their dishes are very well seasoned and has flavors not easily replicable. This is a great place for those exploring the New Brunswick and Rutgers area! Try their outdoor seating in the back of the restaurant for an unprecedented getaway from the streets of Easton Ave. Recommendations: Lamb Shish Kabab with a glass of the Blend, Chateau Kefraya Les Breteches Lebanon wine. Food: 5/5 The food was simple, but the flavor will take you off to a very great experience. If you are a fan of meat, everything is seasoned very well, they were moist, and were very generous with the serving. If you are a vegetarian, their hummus, falafel, tabouleh and baba ghanoug were beyond my expectations. This will never compare to your store bought Mediterranean food. Evelyn's does food right, regardless if you're a meat or veggie lover. You will enjoy everything you taste here. Regarding drinks, they have a great assortment of wines, cocktails, and beers. I personally, love to enjoy their food with a side of the lebanon imported wines. More specifically, the Blend, Chateau Kefraya Les Breteches Lebanon wine. Price: 3/5 The prices reflect generous portions, distinct flavors, and the nature of running a business in New Brunswick, NJ. The entrees range from $14 to $30, with the average price of $18. So, aim for a $$-$$$ check. While I do wish they were a little cheaper, I would not want them to sacrifice their flavors and the quality of their food over the price. Service: 4/5 The service is great. When I went, their outdoor area was closed and we were the only patrons in the restaurant. Everything was clean and neat, and they were generous enough to provide extra pita bread for the table without any hassle. Ambiance: 4/5 The restaurant itself is a decent looking hole in the wall. If the outdoor seating area was open, it feels like you are transported into a different area. It definitely did not feel like you were still dining on the streets of Easton Ave. The fairy lights, rustic dining area, and gazebo bar area really set a mood for a chilled out night.

We decided to overlook the below average food ratings for the homey outdoor ambiance. It's difficult to find a green, cozy ambiance like this nestled in New Brunswick. Although pictures and reviews made Evelyn's seem beautiful outside, I was actually unimpressed with the ambiance. It was cozy, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't this super cute/romantic atmosphere I thought it would be. Compared to other Middle Eastern restaurants in the vicinity, the food was also mediocre. The spinach pies looked delicious in pictures but disappointed - 1/5 stars. The baba ganoush and falafel were good, but the hummus was just a-OK. I'm very picky with pita... and I thought the pita was too thin and rubbery. There's lots of competition in the area, and Evelyn's outdoor bar definitely takes the cake for bar setting, but certainly needs to step up their game on food. I'd probably only come back for night time drinks on the patio.

Came in during lunch time and because of Covid19 the seating is in the back outdoors. No one welcomed us we stood there for a few minutes then we had to get someone inside to let them know. The guy serving us looks like he hates being there, I felt that I was bothering him. Anyways he did let me switch my spinach pie with tobuleh. He was sitting down watching videos on his phone he was occupied with people while we waited for his service. Food wise, it was bland. The cool thing is they let you order from the spanish restaurant next door so we ordered tostones. They were good just drenched in oil. The hummus was definitely canned with added olive oil peppers, with a side of lettuce tomatoes. The falafel tasted okay. Their food just didnt taste fresh as we expected. It looked boring. But it was okay, we managed. Then we ordered a pineapple juice, its costs $2.50 and you get a small plastic cup full of ice and one drop of pineapple. Maybe you should improve your food beverage quality and worker quality. It would definitely make this place better.

Tucked away inside the heart of New Brunswick, NJ is A restaurant that has a flare for casual elegance. On a random Tuesday afternoon I decided to stroll and ordered the best spinach pies appetizer. Service was quick the staff was very friendly and they offer an indoor and outdoor experience. On some days they have live music playing. At night the outside patio deck comes alive with lights and music and crowds some thing we've missed for such a long time since the pandemic. I've been here several times and it's a wonderful eatery that allows you to gather with your friends or even take yourself out for a nice treat. The menu is plentiful and the prices are good offering a Mediterranean feel. I definitely will come back again and again. Good eats for sure -Kim T

    Chicken sandwich
    Denere P.

I've been here before but we ordered takeout this time. The lamb was flavorful and a large portion. French fries were not cooked enough. The chicken sandwich was also pretty good with added feta. It was a large portion and a good amount of chicken. This is one of the more affordable Mediterranean places in town. And they don't skimp on the quality or quantity. There's an option for outdoor dining if you would like.

Unfortunately, I was highly disappointed. I know things changed since the previous owner (older Greek man) no longer owned it. He used to stop by the tables and chat with customers and we noticed that the portions had become smaller. This time we came for lunch on a Sunday. Place was kind of empty, with the exception of 2 large tables. We ordered Saganaki and were informed by waitress that they no longer flambéd it table side. We still ordered and it was good although not melted like we remembered. Husband only ordered the lemon soup, which he said was good. My daughter and I both ordered beef and lamb gyros, I ordered it with Greek fries (with the Greek cheese over them) and my daughter ordered hers with lemon potatoes. Both gyros came dry, in hard shaved pieces and I barely ate my fries as they were worse than fast food fries and not the traditional Greek cheese over them. The tzatziki was good, however, my daughter's had a hair in it. The worse part was that when we brought it to the waitresses attention, she was not apologetic or surprised. She just said she would bring a new one. This was unacceptable. To make matters worse, I went to their store next door to get the cheese I could fry at home and their custard dessert; they had neither. What a disappointment to the entire experience. Won't be returning if ever in the area.
